Adam, The nipple must go at the top, so that the calipers can be bled properly, the air rises to the top of the caliper & when you bleed them all the air should be gone whereas if you have the nipple at the bottom the air in the caliper is forced to the top because of gravity, therefore wont be able to escape, only brake fluid will come out therefore they will seem like they are bled fine because the nipple is down the bottom!
