Are you dual booting the system? If so, it may be a problem related to the idle sleep mode.
I have similar problems due to multiboot configuration. ------------------ Regards Leslie Mr. Leslie Satenstein mailto:[email protected] mailto [email protected] www.itbms.biz --- On Fri, 8/13/10, Mark Styles <[email protected]> wrote: From: Mark Styles <[email protected]> Subject: [MLUG] Ubuntu lucid hanging while idle To: [email protected] Date: Friday, August 13, 2010, 7:50 AM Hi, Since upgrading my desktop to Ubuntu 10.04 I get frequent hangs that can only be fixed by a hard reset. These hangs only happen when I'm logged in but not using it. If I go away for 20 mins it's usually ok, If I go away for longer, either the system hangs completely (can't even ssh in) or I get logged out. Here's what I've tried to resolve this: * Turn off compiz * Set all power management settings to 'Never' * Close all applications before leaving my desk * Disable screensaver I've examined the logs, there don't seem to be any clues there. Anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this? Right now I have to log out every time I plan to be afk for more than 20 minutes. -- Mark http://www.lambic.co.uk -----Inline Attachment Follows----- _______________________________________________ mlug mailing list [email protected] https://listes.koumbit.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mlug-listserv.mlug.ca
