Hi Ike,
sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to let you know that your right 
about the center section being the source of my meter trouble. After some
fooling around I gave the center section a firm "love tap" with my index finger 
to an open area in the middle of the panel, and the meters jumped back to 
normal. I still have some meter weirdness from time to time though. Anyways, 
thanks for taking the time to write!
