I think that Rideau Lakes in my shoes 2000 was just a matter of
perspective. Yeah, 10k from Perth, unable to work either shifter (hands
too cold), things sucked big time. Standing in the Laundromat in Perth
against the dryer, things got better. Putting on the warm dry socks,
life was good.
We learn to cope, bring the "right" things next time, and hope for
sunshine and smooth roads. Or we don't ride. Which is a shame - if I
wasn't with that particular group when we got creative, I would have
missed the nice ride from Perth.
So yeah, things can suck - if they we perfect all the time, I wouldn't
go back out; there would be no "challenges"; I wouldn't be hopelessly
looking for that "perfect" ride.
Here's to dry conditions this afternoon!
