I've had DSL, not SBC-Yahoo, but I would think things would work similarly.
I have cable now. Here are my likes and dislikes from my two experiences.

First and foremost Cable is wonderfully fast. Nowadays I get frustrated
when my download speeds drop to 25kbps, which is about DSL speed. Second
cable configured much easier. It was literally plug and play. Plug the
cable to the modem, plug power to the modem, plug into ethernet on
computer/server/router and set TCP/IP for DHCP and off you go. What I
dislike about my cable service is they block me from running my own servers,
so my EIMS and MacHTTP are on ice.

DSL on the other hand, was good speed, not great. The connection was not as
reliable. The modem had to be configured in a browser and sometimes if
things went awry I had to get a tech's help to accomplish this. Despite the
fact that it uses a different frequency than the phone, it did interfere
with my telephone clarity even with the filters on all the lines. But,
there were no restrictions on me running any servers, so I had some fun and
learned a bit about providing my own email service and HTML.

Choosing between DSL and dial up is an absolute no brainer. Get the DSL.
But if Cable is available I think it is worth the extra bucks.
