First and foremost Cable is wonderfully fast. Nowadays I get frustrated when my download speeds drop to 25kbps, which is about DSL speed.
Where are you located? Who is your cable provider? Hit me back directly; we can look into the speed problem.
dislike about my cable service is they block me from running my own servers, so my EIMS and MacHTTP are on ice.
Running a server is against the AUP for most TSO residential services. As to blocking - they might be inbound port 80, etc.... but you're free to use other ports.
