I haven't had time to take any photos yet.

I can only work for about three hours before heat & humidity begin to take their toll. I can feel heat exhaustion creeping up on me. Then I have to sit & rest. That's time to eat half a banana (potassium) & make an electrolyte cocktail.

Down time is also when I've been running my errands. I've done all of those I'm going to do until the storm passes.

Then it's back to work for another three hours or so.

I've almost got every thing I wanted to get done done. Next work push should last an hour or less and I will have done everything I can do.

Radar is showing the outer edge of the storm about 60 miles south-east of here. Still getting intermittent showers, but no heavy rain as yet. I've only noticed light winds so far.

The weather reporting is almost useless. Everything I can find is concentrating on when the eye will reach Wilmington, how bad the flooding will be in eastern NC and SC & I can't find a damn thing about when to expect the wind & rain to really start to affect Raleigh ... although I have seen reports the wind will be somewhere between 40-70 mph (which I already knew).

What Cotty said !

I've been watching weather channel closely - a friend has family in New Bern -- they evacuated to relatives in Durham... Their beautiful little house is in a rather vulnerable place but the first floor is about 5 feet above the street.. hopefully a flooded basement will be the worst for them.

Good that you know what to do and have the skills and experience to cope.

OF course, eventually we will want photos :-)

Just checking in. I had to sit down & rest for a minute.

Starting to see some intermittent extreme outer bands of wind and rain
(looking
at the radar). I expect the outer edge of the main storm won't get here until
around midnight or later.

Still got some outdoor work to do, mostly securing yard furniture,
trashcans &
such. I also have some materials I need to move inside into the
basement. Should
be able to get all that done in between rain storms.

I've been organizing my tools, getting them sorted & lined up where I
can get to
them quickly if I need them. Also still trying to get a last bit more done on
the kitchen before my focus has to completely turn to whatever damage the
hurricane is going to do.
Thanks for the check in mate - keep em coming! We're reading...
