EU-FOREIGN AFFAIRS: Piqu� chairs first EU Council, to be attended by Berlusconi

Brussels, 28 Jan (EFE). The Spanish Foreign Minister, Josep Piqu�, is today chairing the first EU Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs, at which considerable interest is being generated by the presence of the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

EU-EURO: Mersch likely to be the next ECB Vice President, according to press

Frankfurt (FRG), 28 Jan (EFE). The current Governor of the Luxembourg Central Bank, Yves Mersch, is the favourite candidate in financial circles to replace Frenchman Christian Noyer as ECB Vice President, the German press reported today.
