Sorry, but an Atom is still well in the top 50% of the servers you'll see. Most users use NAS who are far, far less powerful. A Marvell chipset or even an old PPC based NAS will run into issues much sooner.
LMS is a web server, but one written for a limited amount of clients and it doesn't scale well. It's single-threaded and written in Perl. Plus, the http spec says a single client should not have more than two concurrent connections to a server. Nobody conforms to that anymore but assuming you are probably also using an open cometd connection plus a lot of messaging your 5 simultaneous requests mean we are probably talking about 6-7 open requests at any time, it's too much for the server, even on powerful machines it will never always be reliable. The 4 I mentioned were the result of a discussion I had with Andy once upon a long ago, that might even be a hard limit, I don't remember. If it is, it means your 5 requests only work by accident if the server is fast enough to complete one before the 5th comes in. As I said: my experience with 4 simultaneous connections is that it's too much, three works reliably. Even on much slower servers than atom based ones. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 7, the Universal App for iOS 7* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96757 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
