Bear in mind that I am unhappy because I am basing my tests on a 'Poor

it is a Jpeg, to be fair.

Understood but so is the one Canon sent me. Your file does show very slight jpg artifacts but not the lines I am seeing on my prints.

maybe you need to full size Tiff from the verification kit?

I think my 100 mb stepwedge file will convince them.

The file I have been sent is from an EOS digital camera by the looks of
it. It measures 3072 x 2048 pixels, 43.35 cm x 28.9 cm -at- 180 dpi. 18 mb.

The barstow image is 2362 x 3348 pixels, 30 cm x 28.35 cm -at- 300 dpi.
22.6 mb.
this is the Pixl/NB testimage from the site?
I guess it's fair to say that it's not really made for printer
smoothness testing. If you want to know how to do that, call me.

Also understood but the Epson prints John Begg kindly did for me of your file don't show the lines in question.

I did the required three cleaning cycles and aligned the nozzles and
did a print. Lines are clearly visible, even at this time in the
morning.
I've seen this too
I'm hearing about quite a few troublesome Canon printers, it's a shame
because speed and colour are nice.

I think Canon would like to know if you are aware of a problem. I'll pass any info you may have on to them if you send it to me. Just another pro user adding weight to the idea that there may be a design fault would probably help. Thanks to Richard Kenward probably, I had a more constructive conversation with the support guy a while ago. I think we are past the idea that the file is at fault now. It's either my setup or the printer and I have promised to hold my hand up to you all if it's down to me.

I'm beginning to think I must be doing something wrong somewhere...
maybe I'm not getting the nozzle alignment thing right...
I'd guess you'll ned new heads

The thing is that I've had two printer bodies and three heads now, with the same results...

The next step is to hook the thing up to a completely different rig, different cables and all that.

I'll let you all know how it goes.
