All,

Please don't take me wrong. I am 100% behind wearing
the khaki uniform. I wear it proudly every meeting and
every first Sunday of the month at my church and
encourage my boys to do the same. However, my church has
also been doing Rangers for the past 30 years. All I
was saying is for a new outpost just getting started
with the program, it might be affordable at first to
have them get the shirts such as the ones that say
"Ready" or "Trailblazers" to get the ball rolling. If
they can afford to get fully dressed, then even better.
I agree that all outpost should strive to look their
best in the uniforms. I also come from an urban area and
it is hard to get the boys to wear the uniforms, but
most of them do. We also have to come up with our own
funds because the church really can't afford to, which
is really not a problem because they support us in every
other way. So sometimes it takes a while before we can
get a new boy in full uniform, but we do the best that
we can.

Yes, the uniform is important to the ministry, but so
is attitude and intent. Sadly, I have seen at campouts
and pinewood derbies very sharp outpost, uniforms and
all, but with the worst attitudes-complaining, poor team-
spirit and even foul language. What if an outsider were
to see this type of behavior? What would they think of
the uniform now? The boys look good but where is their
heart.

Like I said, I am all in favor of uniforms and I am not
trying to flame anyone, but sometimes we need to
concentrate our concerns on the "inside" and not what we
are wearing on the "outside". God Bless
