I use iTunes / iPod / SB3s and HD2500 (Denon) on a single digital music library. The common format they all support is WAV. The WAV files have a bigger footprint then FLAC or any other lossless format, but hard drives are so cheap today that this is not an issue. WAV can be easily converted into another format if this would be required in the future. My music library is stored on a file server with 1TB of storage (in RAID 1). I have written an application that tags the WAV files with ID3 tags (required for my Denon unit). While the application is scanning the iTunes WAV library to write the ID3 tags, it also extracts the album art from iTunes an copies them into the library as jpg files. This way SC is able to read the ID3 tags and the album art pictures. Works very well. If someone is interested I can create a setup of the application and make it available.
