These forums are a great place to get information aren't they? I was
sort of in your same situation when I received my duet. For what its
worth, I have a 1100+ CD collection, and ~900 CDs were ripped in ACC
format for iTunes use on my Mac before I started using the
Squeezecenter/Duet. I use an ipod on a regular basis, so I needed to
find a program that would allow me to rip in both formats - ACC for
iPod, and FLAC for archiving and possible other use. Since FLAC is a
more widely accepted format, I wanted to find a program that would rip
my remaining CDs in both formats. For Mac users MAX works great, and I
can rip both formats simultaneously. I don't know if MediaMonkey can do
this, but you should find a program that will do both if you want to
continue using your ipod. Unfortunately for me, I plan to go back and
rip all of my previous discs in FLAC. Time consuming, yes, but I
discovered the vast knowledge of the members of this community a bit
too late!

I'd like to know how your HP MediaSmart server turns out. As much as
I'd rather not use Windows, I eventually want to go with a server where
I can access both music and video.

Good Luck.
Pete
