Sorry to deny my help... but I'd probably not be the best to ask how to code in controller support--my main lang is purebasic, and the farthest I ever got in bgt was menues and string manipulation, not delving into either one.

1. I didn't get past bgt much either, which is while I pretty well gave up on programming entirely until Danny came along. I tried! the manual! 3 times! 2. It's relatively easy, though can get teteous at times. For example, the creation of a menu, is more complex than in bgt.I hope, soon, to create an include that simplifies this.  There's also a procedure in pure basic that is already coded, and I'd recommend using it that can generate pan for you.Basically everything is mostly common since. Now I'll never tell you not to use bgt; I think the one thing that scares devs away is when they ask a stupidly simple question, and some huge debate and flame war comes out of it

That would actually be pretty cool. I tried to play games like 0sight and tdv, the latter being too confusing and hard to master for me because of all the things and controls you had to remember, although I suspect that it was attempting to simulate an actual, airplain.I'm looking forward to the audio demo. this sounds promising.

Given the games I've played, I can't give any valid reason why you shouldn't--everything is all there. So it's honestly up to you--I don't use it myself, but it's definitely something you could use to create such a game as you're intending to.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

John, here's the thing with the suggestions--as a developer, one must aquire the hard-to-learn skill of... er... tossing the suggestions into a box to deal with later... all things you want to get to but can't now. So I've actually devised a suggestions section of , which, even without your suggestions, has nearly 20... lol... though many will be removed once the track building system is completed.  As for using the same engine loop sounds as you gear up--most likely, yes, as this is usually the case on most racing games, (Even the mainstream racing games I listened to my older brothers play on the play station did that). Another note about computer players selecting custom cars. Unlike Top Speed where you had the 15 or so cars from the time you first opened the game to whenever you stopped, I'd like whatever cars that come prepackaged with the game to be unloc
ked, thus the range of different cars a computer player could select would be somewhat limited, to keep things fare. Nonetheless I'd like to provide 15 or perhaps 16 cars, to give a good amount to unlock before one started building their own.  And, given the system I plan to implement which calculates the minimum level one can play a car or track they built based on the features and stats they gave it, it should be quite easy to generate content for oneself that they need to unlock, thus inspiring them to race more, to get to the tracks and cars they desire.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Hmm, very interesting points, and thanks for the good luck wish.Custom cars: yescar builder: yesOK I'll stop with that... just yes to everything. I don't feel like listing that all out. But I actually think especially that the announcer idea is quite neet, as well as the ambiance. However, if possible, I'd like people to put in more ambiances than just one on the track, such as a different ambiance on each part of the track, user defined parts of course. and I also plan to add the ability to include thunderstorms moving around on your tracks, as I previously mentioned, so yeah.  I currently have sounds for 8 different cars, but am still needing many more than that, because 8 cars just isn't enough for a game like this, in which cars will be unlocked in higher levels as you become more efficient at driving. I unfortunately think I'm going to need to create a separate topic requesting sounds as it doesn't seem that many peop
le look to this one given the fact that my website is where most of the updates and demos are posted.  As for the track builder situation, I think I'm going to actually do both of my ideas. The reason for this is that some people prefer precise value entering, however even I'd kind of like a track builder like the one I have in mind, because it's really never been done before and I think it would be very interesting to do.Stay tuned, this game is far from being finished!

Hey all, just a quick note.I think I'll be implementing both types of track builder. Some one suggested I make it like Mario Cart, which sounds cool however I've never played that game so cannot base any ideas off of it. If the last poster gets back to me I can add that in as a possibility.  From what it seems, the track builder is going to be a rather large menu, with a lot of things to choose from. . I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it in the least bit.  And remember as always, you can check out the s quad racing page for updates, as I've been working on quite a lot recently since I returned from my code break on April 12th.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

I'm beginning to work on a built in track builder, that can be accessed via the main menu. I'm still, however, having some difficulty deciding how I want to do this. What I was thinking is as follows:1. There is a menu. In this menu, you have the basic options; Setting weather conditions, maximum obstacles, how fast obstacles would spawn, all of that. Also, in the main menu, I want there to be an option called layout customization. But unlike keying in values as is most common to track builders and such, I'd like the builder to select one of the available vehicles. Then, they would start driving just like regular, with the ability to move backward and forward on the track. Now in order to place a turn, they would first have to pause movement by pressing p, of course. To place a left turn, hit the left arrow key one time. if you want it to be a moderate turn, press left again. and if you want an advanced left turn, press left again, and finally a deadly le
ft would occur the 4th time you pressed left arrow. Here's an example in case it sounds confusing.1. I'm a drivin' down the track, just minding my own business. Ok, this seems far enough to iniate a surprise deadly left turn!I'll press p, OK, good, it said paused. Let's see what the screen reader said when I hit left."Current turn type is slight left turn. Press P to unpause and race the duration of the turn"No, I don't want that. Left arrow."Current turn type is moderate left. Press P to unpause"No, still don't want that.Etc, until you hear the type is deadly. You will then press p, unpause the game and get back into movement mode. Just as a player on the track, you are driving the turn, fighting as it were. Now when you decide that this is enough already, press p, and you'll be paused again. to end the turn and go back to a straight, just press enter. And if you're a full a
nd want a turn immediately after the deadly left, don't unpause after entering; just start hitting the right arrow, it works the same as the left.  Now when you want a finishh marking of the track, simply while you're driving, press the enter key.  So how do you guys like this verses precise typing in values? I know you'll end up with things being at random track squares, but this is good if you want to base your track on real-time intervals rather than values.  So should I use this system? or should I use the more classic one. Or, since this is going to be shareware, should I add both?

Hmm. the thing about that is, there's really no other way to shoot enemies if you aren't point-blank, as this would cause missiles extremely long time to hit the target: the missiles we launched 5 or 10 minutes into the recording, had barely hit at 20 minutes in. So I know no other way... plus they don't have a timer, either that or it is not working propperly, thus allowing them to shoot a warhead every 5 milliseconds or however long it is your repeat loop was delayed.Remember when Lightstar was accidently an enemy? That time, my warheads went from 500 to -60 in <30 seconds. So please fix that bug, or if you haven't yet please implement a timer.Thanks,-I'm not going to say my name because you know me quite well. lols.

@crashmaster:You can earn resorces when you sleep, it's called mining. That works when you're offlineThe reason ship prices are so high is so that people will actually work for ships, rather than going at a 5 minute cracking session and being able to buy a friggin Nebvan. And Danny knew what he was doing when he set the prices.as for the part where you suggested loading chuncks of, or small asteroids, into the ship and taking it back to be processed, that's cargo hauling basically.  I think those sattlelight missions are a good idea. And random system events would be great as well, I think that Danny was going to add one of my suggestions in an earlier post about Asteroids or other celestial objects coming to the surface of a planet and whoever stopped it before it hit would be rewarded.  As for the cracking thing, I have a possi
ble idea. I think it would be cool to have a random event that generated a planet. This planet would have a pocket of minerals, and could only be cracked by the first person to reach it. If you wanted you could put the planetss in deep space so that folks could fight over the planet to see who gets to crack it. Anyway, when the planet was cracked, the person who cracked it would get 2 credits or something, and the planet would be destroyed. It would add a sort of competitiveness to the game, I'd think.

Danny, some suggestions.Since you can add multiple turrets to the ship, please make those link to different events. The reason I say this is that having multiple turret consoles is virtually useless, especially if you use one, go to the next one and it's just as uncharged as the one you used. Please make it so that we can upgrade shield strength. The option is in the power management part of engineering, but it doesn't do anything. And one more thing. Please quicken the repair timers. It takes 2 days to repar less than 10 hull strength, and I was just thinking it should only take like 20 hours or something. Thanks, Steven.

Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning

[[wow]] danny, those are some great new features. Hey could you add it so that we can upgrade shield strength? Say, 1 shield upgrade for like 30 credits or something. Also it would be nice if you added a special type of item in certain planets. For example, the federation is suspicious about a certain planet, and you have to fly over to it, survey it, and crack the places on the planet until you find the special item hidden within. If you manage to find it, the crew at the ship yard would either:top up your fuelincrease your hull a little bitupgrade your sensors some whatMake your mining timer just a bit fasteror, give a good old fassion credit reward.I don't know, just some suggestions perhaps.Or we could have missions similar to bounties, but where a set of multiple ships working together would have to seize a planet out of the control of some evil devilish pirates, and then they could crack that planet and/or get a big cr
edit reward. This would invoke team work not only in ship as a crew, but ship to ship wise as well. What do you think?

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Track building parser is being implemented as I write this. The sintax for building tracks is literally so simple, it will make you want to laugh out loud. However, due to the overly repetitive nature of track building in a text file due to long tracks and their tendency to have a lot of turns and straights, I'll probably end up coding up a little track builder into the game. However, for those of you who are interested, here's the syntax. This was coppied from the beginner track, so there are numbers already in there. But basically, it's just a property, and then a space, and then a number. For straights and turns, those have a start (what square of the track it will start turning) and end (the square that the turn ends on). And the spawn setting is how fast obstacles will spawn on the track. If you use the track builder, this should be irrelevant to you.track size 2000maximum obstacles 50spawn 1left start 281left end 300straight start 301straight end 370right start 371right end 400So that's all there is for now. However, as other features are added, more configurations will be as well. I just thought you'd like a bit of a preview.

Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning

Hey all,I come to inform you that Danny is finally taking the break he deserves. While he does, he has agreed to let me be admin, and as a result I feel the need to post this since some of you might have clouded judgements because I joke around and don't get along with pilot72 very well when I was a regular player. So, here it is.1. I will not joke like that any more. Of course I'll still have laughs, but none of my previous jokes will be there, the ones that made folks mad.2. I will help in any way I can. I want people to get on death match and see friendly admins, and have fun, and not get stuck.3. I will get along with players and staff alike. If I feel something bad is happening and I can't control it by meer asking, I'll invite another admin in. However, I'll ask a few times before I do that.4. I will not be on a whole lot. I have school, and family, and other computer things, but I'll be on often as I can.5.
I want you to enjoy death match, and I want Danny to feel like his game is safe and he can trust the hands he placed it in. I will answer your questions, (don't spam with them though), and assist you in any way that is needed, once I get a hang of the admin interface .6. I'll be building some stuff. It's not all I will do, but I will build. How does any one like the idea of a star bucks, on Bacuan 5? 7. I won't exploit. I'll continue to crack, probe, fight if necessary, and mine to get my credits like every one else. I want a striker soo bad, but I will work for it.Is this good enough for you all?I look forward to being your admin!
I hope we can have a lot of fun together, and make some good old space memories! This, is totally going in my black box.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Hey guys,So yeah I'm sure it seems like I'm resurrecting a dead and gone topic. But here's the scoop. No matter how low this topic gets, It ain't dead until s quad racing is, which is definitely not the truth. For those who keep up with my blog and forums, you know my time has been consumed with flamity flame, poem writing, death match, stw, podcasting, and no racing project development lol. I don't plan for that to last. In fact, I've decided to revamp the vehicles system, to make it possible for users to build vehicles of their own. Also, unlike in top speed, all opponents will use the same car as the player does, so there will be a complete fairness to the game.  Now is your time to help in development, however. I need as many race car sfx as you can give me. I'd prefer you put each car in a separate zip or folder within a
packaged zip. In that, you'd include:1. a horn sound.2. Start up sound.3. shut off sound.4. of course, the loop that we can use to heighten and lower as the thing speeds up and slows down.Oh. yeah. I forgot to mention something. If you really do this for me, and I get a lot a lot of good sounds, three random submitters might just get a little key for a certain folder with the game's beta in it... .  Don't feel obligated, it's not your responsibility by any means. So if no one submits even one car sound, I'll be OK with that. But they would be appreciated.Thanks,Steven.

Re: DeathMatch, a new beginning

I pretty much agree with Dark. Also if you want to allow pvp like that, there is no sense in restricting it out of fed space. I was yelled at for shooting another ship earlier... and threatened with jail if I did that again. My firing was largly due to the fact that Danny and I were in the middle of fixing my ship, and he just says, "I'm going to bed" and signs off, leaving me hanging there clueless as to what to do with a ship that can't even go above speed 0. So I went on the game and did all I could do--shoot. And now that I really think about it, it makes no frikkin sense! That we have pirated ships, but we can't have alians or something. I guess it doesn't really matter though.I don't know. That whole suddenly going to bed and just leaving me there when we were in the middle of fixing one of my ships made me quite ticked. And if shooting is the only thing I can do because of that, and the only place I can do it in is fed space because
I can't frikkin speed up, OK then. If the mods of this game want to send me to jail because of that? Go the crap ahead. Heck, I'd likely have more to do there.Rant over.

Re: What Was the First AudioGame you Ever played?

Here's the flamity flame documentation, lols!Welcome to flamity flame.1. introduction1.1. descriptionFlamity flame is a small audio game that's soul purpose is to bring to life a poem that was written by Steven Daugherty, (http://stevend.net), entitled "Flamity Flame, a Lame Audio Game." (see section 1.3)  This game, though not as lame and pointless as is depicted in the aforementioned poem, is nonetheless an eppic waste of time. However, this is a good way to pass time, especially in small increments.1.2. creditsMason armstrong, and the internet, for sound affects.Microsoft Mike, for being the rarely used voice of James... lol.Steven Daugherty for recording and composing cut scenes, and death and pain sequences.1.3. PoemI remember the day, when I dared to play, an audio game, that was very lame. The audio game, that was very lame, that I dared to play, had a stupid name. The name of the game, was Flamity Flame, and Flamity Flame, was such a horrible game. Because in Flamity Flame, The goal of the game, was to attempt to kill, a man known as James. Now what made this game, so very lame, Is the fact that James, had no sound at which to Aim. And what kind of game, that is audio by claim, has a guy named James, at whom you cannot Aim?So to this day, I don’t know who to blame, but all I can say, they made a terrible game!2. the main menuWhen you first open the game, you will be introduced into a rather self-explanitory main menu. The options start game, listen to poem, and exit are present. To navigate through this menu, use your left and right arrow keys, and press space to activate the appropriate option. When listening to the poem, to stop the speech simply press the left or right arrow, and though a menu option will be announced, it will stop reading of the poem.3. gameplayFlamity Flame follows a basic set of rules, those which have been outlined in the poem above. You are placed on an x-only (side scrolling) grid that ranges from 0 to 20. When you spawn at level 1, you will be placed in the safe zone, or the range of coordinates between 0 and 4. In this zone, James is unable to spawn, meaning that it is impossible to attack james or be attacked in this area. Also, you will notice a couple things: e speak will tell you the location of james, which is just a single number. This is where you must place yourself with the left and right arrows in order to interact with james. To here james's coordinates again, press the number 1 on your keyboard, and press C to hear yours.  The second thing you will here is a robotic voice threatening you off to the right. This is the only sound that james will make, save for the burning sound you hear when he is hit with the flame thrower you have.  To walk, use the left and right arrows. if you reach the maximum boundary of the grid (20), you will hear a beep when trying to walk again. This also applies if you come to coordinate 0.  To shoot james, listen to his coordinates, and then tap the left and/or right arrows until your coordinates match with his. You can quit tapping on the arrow key and press c to see what your coordinates are, however this is not wise if you are where james is.when you reach james, hit the space bar to fire one shot of flame at him. In the easier levels, you can usually score 8 to 14 shots before james shoots back, without moving left or right and then back. However, when at level 3 or above, it is recommended that you step left or right once every 2 to 3 shots, before resuming your fire, because james's reaction time is a lot faster then.  Once you kill james, you will advance a level, and his firing speed will increase, and his level will reset. However, yours will not, so try not to get shot in earlier levels, please. Also, the amount of damage that a shot does will increase when you level up, and you will hear a more angry message from James.  When you kill him at the end of level 5... there will be a *** that ***, and then you will be put back at the main menu.Did you actually think I'd tell you what would happen? lol  Anyways, don't die, or try not to. This could result in you thrashing helplessly on the floor and gasping and choking until you die, or just falling dead. None of these, I assure you, are things you want to do. muhahaha!4.Um is this even a chapter? I don't think so. Well here's the text of it happy gaming! I hope you get addicted!

Thankyou dark for getting to that so soon, I really appreciate that. And thanks for the thumbs up whoever gave me that @players when someone gets a chance could you record a demo of the new planet cracking system? That request is limited to only a few people, I know, but a recording would be nice since 1: I'm not in the testing folder anymore because I didn't have enough space in dropbox for both my site files and danny's games, but now that I've moved my site files to my site I can come back in.and 2: I'd like to hear what it sounds like before I buy that very, very large ship. I think my Gold Digger Planet Cracker is good enough for me right now. Also I really can't wait for the update, because Danny's told me of,
and I've read on the changelog, of a lot, of great new features! This game just keeps getting better and better!

Re: What Was the First AudioGame you Ever played?

I'm actually working on it right now and since it's really small should have it finished pretty soon. Currently making James have a stronger gun that speeds up every level, so you have to blast him with your flame thrower and jump to the side before he lashes back.  Oh and by the way, a note that is also more on topic. Did you guys know that before I played audio games, I was visualising a game called Ball Launch? In this game you'd press the control key to launch the ball and hit it around with keys on the keyboard, sort of like penball but a bit different. I actually wrote up a book of commands and descriptions on a bunch of notecards when I was... er... 10 years old. In fact, that's the reason I downloaded visual basic 2008 express edition, but of course I knew nothing about programming at the time. Man, I wish I hadn't lost that command book. That actually could've been something, you know?

Hey guys what would you think if I created flamity flame, the game in the poem in the first post?OK it won't be so horrible as the poem made it out to be. It will be very pointless and small, but it could give you 5 minutes of fun. I'll create anyway, but wondered if you wanted to have open minds and try it?

Re: What Was the First AudioGame you Ever played?

I've had a bit of mainstream gaming experience myself, especially when my older brothers were still in their early teens and owned a play station... though that was several years ago. I don't really remember what it was called but we'd play this fighting game and I thought it was quite fun, actually, and managed to win a couple of times...Then of course there is the wii. I can actually play all games on wii sports by myself, and still do on occasion. I've played other games such as wake boarding, and even remember spending all night playing a dog fight (not really with dogs, more like helicopters and such).  A friend of mine also let me play with him on the xBox, a fighting game of course. I blew myself up but yeah... still a fun experience.  I am jellous of you as well, defender... I have a totally blind sister, but the only audiogame I could get her to play with me was dragon pong last year, and we've played Quentin C's
playroom and RS games as well. If only I could get her on rtr, top speed, or something else?   As for my parents, yeah... um... no not likely. None of them know how to play audiogames, and they're fully sighted. Plus they have work and stuff during the week... and sometimes weekend as well. I'm sure that if they wanted to they could get in a quick game, though, and I'd actually find that amusing enough to record a podcast of it.

The funny thing is, I didn't even know that it was possible to find blind accessible games until I was 11. Lol!That being said, I missed out on most of the classics, drive was definitely not something I ever played, neither was the curb game, though I remember trying to aquire both from the database several yearss ago. It used to be, I would search the quick links, skipping over all the rest of the stuff on the site. In fact, I'm not really sure how or why I decided to hit community>forum... just happened so.

Hmm. I came to this forum on September 2, 2012 but was playing games in February 2011... so to tell the truth don't know when Trupenum was a big thing. I actually didn't even try trupenum until about 2013 or maybe a bit earlier. But as for the japanese games I don't play them myself because I like to learn how to play those and there aren't readme files for the japanese games such as the BK series and such, so I just tend to stay away from those.

What Was the First AudioGame you Ever played?

So I was wondering, what was the first audio game you ever played? I will tell you mine below:I remember the day, when I dared to play,an audio game, that was very lame. The audio game, that was very lame, that I dared to play, had a stupid name. The name of the game, was Flamity Flame, and Flamity Flame, was such a horrible game.Because in Flamity Flame,The goal of the game, was to attempt to kill,a man known as James. Now what made this game,so very lame,Is the fact that James, had no sound at which to Aim.And what kind of game, that is audio by claim, has a guy named James,at whom you cannot Aim?So to this day,I don’t know who to blame, but all I can say, they made a terrible game!OK no seriously, though. the first audio game I ever played, was mud splat. Of course it was a virus that crashed my computer, but that was it.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Oh so now it's not a complaint it's a suggestion? *confused* well anyway. You can't get a credit card til you are 18 here either. But thankfully, we got parents. I presume you do as well, or else how do you support yourself without a credit card?  Thing is, Burak, if you want to have about 97% of the stuff in the world before you turn 18, you would have to ask your parents to buy it for you. and if $20.00 is such a cumbersome amount of money for them, well I'm very sorry about your finanical situation. Otherwise...well, get a small job, save up money, and ask for use of your parents' credit card and pay back the money you spent in actual cash.Sound good?Hope so, else it just looks like you'll be waiting til you are 18, lest you can find a way to ask nicely to be a beta tester, even then I'd have to get to know you first.

Exactly Danny. You know, responding to this shouldn't have been my concern, as it's not my problem that some one can't pay for my game. I hope burak tries to give that bull crap excuse to some big computer company. Who knows, they might give him a comp with a quad core Pentium 3.5 ghz processor running windows 10 and with 20 gigs of ram and 4 tb of disk space. Who knows. But anyways. with all bull crap excuses aside, anything better to talk about?

actually, burak, obviously no. and if what I was saying was harsh, there would therefore not be a thumbs up. I seriously don't care if you're frustrated. Are free games crap? no. but what I meant by "free crap" was free stuff. Sorry, didn't frikkin know I had to clarify.Anyway, did you pull this crap to aprone when he made swamp shareware? hmm no don't think so. Anyways, all I have to say is: if you don't like the absolute frikkin idea of a shareware game, don't play it.

@burak:ok maybe http isn't the best thing for this, in fact that was a second option; I'd rather just encrypt game files if you ask me.@the shareware comment yes. another game becoming shareware. but yes. another developer who is doing hard work as a hobby. so deal with it.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

actually, vlad, here's the rundown.I am planning on making this game shareware by the time it's ready for completion, which I estimate will be around my 17th birthday, around a year from now. This means that you will have to test with me for a long time, and since it is shareware, I will have some very, strict, beta testing rules.I will set up perhaps a little beta testing bt sinc folder or something for the game. Applying for it will be a bit hard; not super personal, such as the dmnbac form that we heard about recently, but nonetheless it will be hard.  This, however, is not a priority of mine at this time. If I end up setting this up, it will not be for at least 2 weeks, because I'm very unsure--how do I know my beta testers won't hand out the executables? How do I know they won't pass around their stat files to newbie players? how do I know, how do I know...? Yes, the trust issues.  So yeah. Currently I have a relyable
, willing beta tester. And I have it set up so that if he were to pass out my code, I could just as well take the updates out of the folder. So maybe.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Hey all,Bad and good news. The bad news isn't all that bad, and the good news will likely excite some of you!bad news:I didn't record the demo last night. That is because it wouldn't sound very different from last week, because I took a bit of an... er... hiatus from code for a little bit, because I don't want to push myself, I'm sure you can understand though.good news:I began coding again last night, as my change log readers know. I'm coding the end of the race, and after that's fixed, all I have to do is put the disorientator obstacle back in and configure it for opponents, which would take all of 15 minutes. The reason this is good news is because after that, I can begin to move on to the store and inventory, and eventually custom track building. All of this in 4 weeks, you say? Just imagine, how this racing game will look by the time school lets out and I'll have more time to code. PS, thanks for submitting your suggestions on my new form. They are very interesting suggestions! Keep it up!

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Hey guys,A question.Would it be logical, and/or possible, to store people's game variable files on an http server, so that they couldn't modify them?I mean, where the game would load, ask for your name, and retrieve your stats off of the server, rather than having them at easy access. Also, there's now a suggestions submitting form at the bottom of the page. I know there are a lot of headings before it, but to make it easier, navigate by heading level 2, or edit box, and soon I'll add a quick links section to the page. The form is easy to fill out; don't worry, I won't! ask for any of your personal information. Not even so much as a name or email! Just go to the form, jot down a couple ideas, and click submit. That simple!

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Yeah I'll look into adding unlockable vehicles. It shouldn't be so hard...A breaking system would indeed be nice.As for turning backwards I was thinking it would be realistic if I added some sort of skidding sound and made the car slow down a little bit, but not all the way.

Re: Anyone interested in another racing game?

Yeah, I was thinking so as well. But the only racing games I've ever played were Jim Kitchen's Mach 1 and top speed3, and I don't remember much about the former, since I hadn't played that in 4 years. But as for Top Speed I thought the cars were ligned in a y coordinate row, rather than side by side, that's why I was confused.
