Freezing TB
Hello TBBETA Members! A while ago, when listing more than a few bugs/problems TB brings with it, freezing TB was one of them. That was already quite annoying. Over the past couple of days I found out that this freeze has effects on other programs, namely media players. When TB is open and I try to watch a video or listen to music with VLC, Groove, 5KPlayer etc. the media freeze, skip, and pixelate. First I thought it was something in my network - it isn't, internally I have a fully functional Gigabit Ethernet, outside connection is 500 Mbit down, 50 Mbit up, even with a VPN I don't get under 300/30. It isn't my soundcard, not my processor nor RAM [see https://www.screencast.com/t/elvx9PtMeJ6 ]. For testing I let first Groove* run with a long playlist. It skipped while TB was running; System Monitor showed that every time Groove skipped the main TB process got red and was 'unresponsive'. Same when I checked with VLC. Closing TB**, then running Groove for an hour without any skipping, then the same with VLC. This makes TB unusable to me. *as part of the OS it should have the least interaction problems **curiously a TB process ran on after closing the program; I mentioned that previously -- Dierk Haasis [DH² Publishing] www.DH2Publishing.info Twitter: Evo2Me 8.5.8 on Windows 10 0 17134 Buss's Third Law of Human Mating: For every mating adaptation in one sex, there exists at least one co-evolved adaptation in the other sex designed to manipulate and exploit it. Several Problems - a Reminder
Hello TBBETA Members and RITLabs! I have several problems with TB, making working with it so difficult I now use Outlook on the side. TB is still my main e-mail client, for the time being. - [automatic] filtering doesn't work at all. As some might remember, I set up Tb completely anew last summer on a new machine. All filters, templates, quick templates etc. have been recreated. While templates and QT work, automation doesn't as no filter works. All incoming e-mail stays in the Inbox. All IMAP accounts. - The Antispam Sniper toolbar quadruples its icons, instead of one instance of 'Mark as spam' and one of 'Not spam' it shows four instance of each. - Some system folders are doubled up. In one account I do have 'Sent Mail ' as well as 'Gesendete Objekte' [= sent mail], the same with 'Trash' and 'Papierkorb' [= trash]. It ius even worth with GMail. [see https://www.screencast.com/t/Ovmh6FQTpGU] - For several betas now, I'd venture it started about 3 to four weeks ago, TB very often freezes for 15 seconds or more. It happens without any traceable reason - MailTicker halts, main window freezes, editor stops responding etc. - TB does not close completely, there is a process, which has to be shut via Task Manager. Very annoying with frequent updates as well as with closing down windows [yes, I switch my computer off regularly, as in 'every evening']. TB Does Not Shut Down Properly
Hello TBBETA Members! For the past few alphas, ca. the last one to two weeks, TB does not shut down properly. One process stays on, I have to open the Task-Manager to kill it. Hello TBBETA Members! First the cosmetic error: https://www.screencast.com/t/hYHZlMfKN shows the G-Mail connection dialogue. It still has The Bat! v7 on top. TB As System Default on W7-64
Hello TBBETA Members! I had hoped with my changing from XP to W7-64 this old problem would have been gone: TB is not [fully] used for MAPI or even just MAILTO. A few screengrabs to illustrate: http://www.screencast.com/t/szfthJkHMe Shows the associations for The Bat! in W7's default programs dialogue. http://www.screencast.com/t/hbvcG7sjgHBa a) Despite W7 being set to use TB as default mailer, Opera shows Outlook as system's default [it never was]. b) The customised program handler for TB doesn't work. http://www.screencast.com/t/w0UBfOfG W7's system's defaults shows TB as 'owning all standards'. http://www.screencast.com/t/ByPNDsfyc4ep All file formats and protocols checked and associated. http://www.screencast.com/t/93ciEQkfP W7's dialogue shows MAILTO associated with TB. I hope all description are correctly assigned, if not, the pics on Screencast have them right. Problems: 1. Clicking on a MAILTO link in Opera gives an error message/page by Opera - 'Internal communication error'. 2. Clicking on e-mail notifications from Trillian opens Outlook instead of TB. Same happens when I 'Open Inbox' for an account in Trillian. 3. Using Send to-E-mail client via context-menu on files does not work; it gives a [OUTLOOK] dialogue about the size of the file [if an image] but upon clicking 'OK' nothing happens. 4. Using Send to-The Bat!* via context-menu on files doesn't do anything at all. *I put that in manually. 5. With luck some e-mail address clicked in some programs trigger a New Message window from TB - regrettably completely empty, although intricate templates are defined. -- Dierk Haasis [DH² Publishing] The Bat 5.0.22.15 (ALPHA) on Windows 7 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 Chat info upon request Tolerance, compassion, charity, steadfastness and faith are considered Christian virtues, i.e. virtues that modern Christians feel they should have ... People took to the streets here in Boston, literally banging pots and pans together as they danced and shouted in celebration ... Hindsight, however, tells us today that much of that optimism was wildly misplaced. The long shadow of George W. Bush still hung low and dark over the land, as it does even now. Thom Hartmann | The Boston Tea Party Revealed http://www.truth-out.org/boston-tea-party-revealed/1301986800 Thom Hartmann, Berrett-Koehler Publishers: The East India Company set a precedent that multinational corporations follow to this day: it lobbied for laws that would enable it to easily put its small-business competitors out of business. By 1681 most of the members of the British government and royalty were stockholders in the East India Company, so it was easy that year to pass 'An Act for the restraining and punishing Privateers and Pirates.' This law required a license to import anything into the Americas (among other British-controlled parts of the world), and the licenses were only rarely granted except to the East India Company and other large British corporations. Henry A. Giroux | American Militarism and the End(s) of Higher Education http://www.truth-out.org/american-militarism-and-ends-higher-education Henry A. Giroux, Truthout: As the spirit of a hypermilitarized America bleeds into everyday life, politics increasingly becomes an extension of war, and right-wing, liberal and conservative politicians eagerly embrace a militaristic approach to policy and the need to cleanse the social order of any institution, mode of dissent, social group and public sphere willing to question its state of permanent war and its militarized and unchecked embrace of economic Darwinism. These foreign and domestic wars are not unrelated, given that they are waged in the interests of right-wing militarists, neoconservatives, liberals and corporate moguls - all of whom have a political and economic stake in such military incursions abroad and wars at home. John Conyers has put forward an initiative that has a very strong claim to majority support. Conyers plans to introduce an amendment to the next government funding bill - the Continuing Resolution - that would prevent appropriated funds from being used to fund any type of ground troop presence on Libyan territory. Together with Representatives Honda, Stark, and Woolsey, Representative Conyers is circulating a letter to his colleagues in support of this amendment. This position has strong majority support from Americans. Seven out of ten Americans oppose the use of US ground troops in Libya, according to a CNN poll. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found that by a margin of 61-30, voters say regime change in Libya is not worth having American troops 'fight and possibly die' for.
