-Caveat Lector- This is from back in 1996 to 1998 but the issues are still being debated. This is towards the end of the page. http://www.leeds.ac.uk/law/pgs/yaman/child.htm Child Pornography Investigation in Holland, July 1998 According to Reuters, the Dutch police were investigating allegations that an international child pornography ring exploited toddlers as young as two and distributed their images worldwide via the Internet. "The investigation focuses on child pornography in all its facets--the production and distribution of the material," a local police spokesman told Reuters, adding that the police were not yet in possession of the alleged pornographic material. The Dutch inquiry follows a report by an anti pornography group that it found thousands of computer disks in a flat in the Dutch seaside town of Zandvoort. The disks were loaded with pornographic pictures of children, according to the Dutch current affairs television program NOVA reported. The police spokesman would give no further details of the case pending the outcome of the investigation. He also declined to comment on reports that Dutch police were working with Belgian and German authorities. "We are waiting for the [pornographic material] to be handed over, then it will be used in our investigation," the police spokesman said. "All the material...is either in the hands of the television [program] or the [Belgian group Morkhoven]." According to the German newspaper Berliner Morgenpost, Morkhoven stumbled across the disks during a search for a Berlin boy who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1993 when he was 12. The trail led Morkhoven to the Netherlands and finally to the Zandvoort flat, the newspaper said. The child pornography network, which Berliner Morgenpost said stretches around the globe, has its center in Berlin. It was not clear how Morkhoven gained access to the address. The propertys owner, allegedly a member of the ring, was reportedly murdered by another gang member early this year in Italy. According to NOVA, the pornographic pictures uncovered in the flat were stored on thousands of high-density disks. Morkhoven suspects the images were passed via the Internet to a regular group of customers. It claims the Zandvoort operation was part of an international network of child pornography producers and consumers, extending to the United States, Russia, and Israel. Dutch anti pornography campaigners have long complained there is insufficient regulation of the Internet and the material it carries. One local group, Meldpunt Kinderporno, wrote to the Dutch government recently urging the introduction of measures to combat child pornography on the Web. Finland Police seized child pornography at the Helsinki home of a 19 year-old student On August 28, 1996 in helsinki - Finland the police seized two computers and nearly 350 floppy disks at the house of a 19 year-old student. The material showed sadistic acts involving Caucasian and Asian children, including torture, mutilation, and cannibalism. Police specialist Kaj Malmberg stated that: "These pictures of adults having sex with children are really hard pornography. This is exceptioannly severe hard pornography involving very severe abuse of children" The unnamed student was not arrested because of the liberal Finnish law. Possession and distribution of hard pornography is a minor offence with a maximum penalty of six months in jail. Malmberg stated that: "It's like speeding or something." According to the Reuters report the Finnish police must wait until the student returns from the university outside Helsinki to even interrogate him. According to the police the student's computer system can be connected to the Internet and a distribution link has been found with Sweeden. Malmberg said he suspects people in several other European countries had used the system. Merja-Maarja Turunen with the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health stated that Finland must crack down against such offenders. "It is important. It's not a minor offence. It's obvious that somewhere along the line a child is being molested." The arrest of Marc Dutroux in Belgium See the TIME article by clicking on the image. THE Belgian government appealed for international co-operation to crush paedophile rings as it sought to defuse the nation's fury over the child sex gang responsible for the death of two small girls. The appeal from Stefaan De Clerck, the Justice Minister, came as detectives in Neufchateau, continued questioning Marc Dutroux in whose garden the bodies of Julie Lejeune and Melissa Russo were found along with that of Bernard Weinstein, another gang member. Despite intensive interrogation of Marc Dutroux, there was little sign of a breakthrough in the hunt for about a dozen missing Belgian children. They include Ann Marchal, 19, and Eefje Lambrecks, 17, whom Dutroux allegedly admitted kidnapping last

Parkinson's is a progressive brain disorder that is almost always fatal, but the suffering can go on for years. The disease usually strikes people over age 60, but a few people get it before they reach 40. Parkinson's begins when a certain class of brain cells begins to die, cells that produce a chemical called dopamine, which your body needs. Dopamine serves as a chemical messenger helping to control muscle activities. Loss of dopamine leads to the pro- gressive loss of muscular control, giving rise to a variety of symptoms: stiffness, tremor, slow movement, difficulty with balance, difficulty walking, a stooped-over, shuffling gait. As the disease progresses, the patient may develop difficulty speaking, symptoms of senility (dementia) similar to Alz- heimer's, and severe depression. In recent years, an effective medication, levodopa (known as L-dopa), has relieved many of the symptoms of Parkinson's for many patients, at least for a period of time. In addition, transplanting dopamine-producing brain cells from dead fetuses into the brains of Parkinson's sufferers has delayed the progression of the disease in some cases. Nevertheless, Parkinson's remains a common but poorly-understood terminal disease. The causes of Parkinson's disease have been debated for 150 years, with no resolution. A breakthrough occurred in the early 1980s when a group of young people developed the symptoms of Parkinson's disease after taking an illegal drug called MPTP, which is similar to the narcotic pain killer meperidine (which is sold under the trade name Demerol).[2] MPTP is also similar in chemical structure to several pesticides and herbicides. Subsequently, symptoms of Parkinson's were induced in monkeys by feeding them MPTP.[3] This led the medical community to begin thinking of Parkinson's as a disease caused by chemical exposures. Early studies began to show a pattern: many people with Parkinson's have a history of exposure to pesticides, especially insecticides and herbicides.[4-7] However in the early 1990s, Parkinson's was linked to a gene in a few Italian and Greek families,[8] and this sent researchers down the genetic trail in search of the cause of Parkinson's. Genetic causes of disease are very fashionable at the moment and it is easier to find research funds to study genes than it is to find research funds to study the effects of pesticides. This week the likelihood of a genetic cause for most Parkinson's disease was effectively ruled out by the publication of a study of nearly 20,000 twins.[9] The study cohort, made up of white male twins who served in World War II, was developed by the National Academy of Sciences 35 years ago. Most of the members of the study cohort are now in their mid-60s, so they have reached the age when Parkinson's begins to appear. Of the 20,000 twins studied, 193 individuals were confirmed to have Parkinson's. The study showed that identical twins do not get Parkinson's any more often than two unrelated individuals. If the disease had a genetic origin, then identical twins, who share every gene, would both be expected to get the disease. This does not

Therefore, I inform all readers that my research in UFO phenomena, abductions and MILABS is not connected with my work as a space scientist, does not represent the opinion of my department, my director , etc. and is not supported by them. This research is only private and only my own hypothesis, which is supported via investigative journalism .. I do also not claim that the whole US military or related intelligence agencies are involved in alien abductions, UFO-research, kidnappings of abductees, examinations, etc., and I am not anti-American! But it is my democratic opinion that there are indications that covert human forces may be involved in the abduction phenomenon. This is only "speculation" and the discussion about this should not be forbitten or censored in democratic societies, or do we live in the former Sowjetunion or Serbia? It is a known fact that parts of the US military-intelligence agencies experimented on unwitting people during the cold war (New Scientist, No . 1961, 1995; No. 2030, 1996; No. 2058, 1996, etc.), although it was illegal. -Caveat Lector- So. Oh Well, I guess everyone does it? If that is what you are believe, you need to study history a bit more. Or: There are hypycrates, and then there are Hypocrates. From http://freeweb.digiweb.com/science_fiction/ThePiedPiper/future.htm Subject: I Agree... This letter was written by Eric Jowers, a retired Army Officer, who served as public affairs officer at Fort Rucker from 1989 to 1991. He now lives in Ozark, Alabama. - Dear Mr. President: It's not about sex. If it were about sex, you would be long gone. Just like a doctor, attorney or teacher who had sex with a patient, client or student half his age, you would have violated the ethics of your office and would be long gone. Just like a Sergeant Major of the Army, Gene McKinney, who though found not guilty, was forced to resign amid accusations of sexual abuse. Remember the Air Force General you wouldn't nominate to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff because he freely admitted to an affair almost 15 years before, while he and his wife were separated? Unlike you, he was never accused of having a starry-eyed office assistant my daughter's age perform oral sex on him while he was on the phone and his wife and daughter were upstairs. If it were about sex, you should be subjected to the same horrible hearings that Clarence Thomas was subjected to because of the accusations of Anita Hill. The only accusation then was that he talked dirty to her; he didn't even leave semen stains on her dress. No, it's not about sex. It's about character. It's about lying. It's about arrogance. It's about abuse of power. It's about dodging the draft and lying about it. When caught in a lie by letters you wrote, you concocted a story that nobody believed. But we excused it and looked away. It's about smoking dope, and lying about it. "I didn't inhale," you said. Sure, and when I was 15 and my buddies and I swiped a beer from an unwatched refrigerator, we drank from it, but we didn't swallow. "I broke no laws of the United States," you said. That's right, you smoked dope in England or Norway or Moscow; where you were demonstrating against the U.S.A. You lied, but we excused it and looked away. It's about you selling overnight stays in the White House to any foreigner or other contributor with untraceable cash. It's about Whitewater and Jim and Susan McDougal and Arkansas, Gov. Jim Guy Tucker and Vincent Foster and Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones and Karen Willey and nearly countless others. It's about stealing the records from Foster's office while his body was still warm and putting them in your bedroom and "not noticing them" for two years. It's about illegal political contributions. It's about you and Al Gore soliciting contributions and selling influence at Buddhist temples and in the same Oval Office where Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt led their countries through the dark days of wars that threatened the very existence of our nation. But we excused you and looked away. It's about hiding evidence from Ken Starr, refusing to testify, filing legal motions, coaching witnesses, obstructing justice and delaying Judge Starr's inquiry for months and years, and then complaining that it has gone on too long. The polls agreed. Thank goodness that Judge Starr didn't read the polls, play politics or excuse you and look away. He held on to the evidence like a tenacious bulldog. Your supporters say that you've confessed your wrong doings and asked for our forgiveness. Listen, what you said on TV the night you testified to the grand jury was not a confession; overwhelming evidence is not a confession at all. Not that it would make a lot of difference. A murderer who contritely confesses his crime is still a murderer. When your "confession" didn't sell, even to your friends, you became more forthcoming. Maybe someday you'll confess more, but probably not. You've established such a pattern of lying that we can't believe you anymore. Neither can your cabinet, the Congress or any of the leaders of the nations of the world. When a leader's actions defame and emasculate our country as profoundly as yours have, it's no longer a personal matter, as you claim. It's no longer a matter among you, your family and your God. By the way, I don't believe for a minute that Hillary was unaware of your sexual misadventures, abuses of power and pattern of lying. She has been a party to your wrong doings since Whitewater and Jennifer Flowers just as surely as she lied about the Rose law firm's billings and hid the Vincent Foster evidence in your bedroom for two years. Why? So she could share in the raw power that your office carries. The two of you probably lied to Chelsea, but that is a matter among you, your family and your God. -Caveat Lector- This is so obviously a manufactured "crisis," it's becoming downright comical. I can't watch CNN or MS-NBC (NBC) news --bigger-money-buttkissing billionaires Ted Turner's and Bill Gates' media mind-control orgs, respectively-- anymore without laughing aloud at the clumsy propaganda ploys, rehashing the grossest cliches of the WWII period. For example, first the media trumpets that the Serbs are separating all the able-bodied Kosovar men from the women. "Where are all the MEN within this flood of refugees?" the talking heads wink, ominously. There's talk of some kind of concentration camp or slave labor camp for Kosovars in Serb-controlled Yugoslavia. Then, when the cameras finally focus on the refugees thronging into Macedonia, it's obvious to anyone with eyes that there are as many able-bodied men as women represented in those crowds ... so suddenly, no more talk of "missing men" or "detention camps." The spin shifts gears -- and next, the supposedly heart-wrenching refrain is that the Serbs have gathered all the choicest Kosovar women into camps that function as brothels for the Serb monsters, where any female from age five to 95 is brutally gang-raped until she's a bloody pulp. Again, CNN and MS-NBC are flashing maps on the screen indicating the geographical location of these alleged mass-rape camps, just as with male "concentration camps." We note, though, there somehow manages to be an equal number of men and women trudging across the border from Kosovo ... Maybe it's just temp work for some gals ... Logically, the NEXT charge should be that those "evil" Serbs [that heavily weighted, subjective value-judgment word being used incessantly by our messengers of "facts"] are committing "atrocities" involving innocent children --like the horror stories concocted by the Madison Avenue boys to demonize the Iraqis in Kuwait-- such as tearing babies from their mothers' breasts and herding them en masse into Stalinist "thought-reform" camps to be raised identity-less by The State, all toward the end of "ethnic cleansing" ... Those infants who aren't impaled on the bayonets of laughing baby-raping Serbian maniacs, that is. Sorry, I can't help but laugh. This is World War ONE propaganda quoted almost word for word, strictly by the book, as if we were STILL that stupid. For the first four days of the war, the military "experts" and diplomatic talking heads on CNN and MS-NBC kept making the same MISTAKE on the air -- a mistake that was too embarrassingly telling to CORRECT on the air, apparently, because in all 3 instances where I caught it, no one else seemed to notice; the heated rhetoric just went on, no loss of momentum. The mistake? When spokesmen MEANT to say "Milosevic," they'd forget themselves and say "SADDAM" instead ... Old reflexes die hard. But then, any "Hitler" will do for the sheeple -- it's the SYMBOL here, not the reality, that matters .. (On second thought, though, maybe it WASN'T accidental mis-speaking ... In that case, it'd be the verbal equivalent of a "subliminal," used in hypnotic programming. ) Comical too is the media's current "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" ploy, a classic double-bind : If Milosevic (A) drives Albanians out of Kosovo, it's cause for NATO action-- and now, if he (B) PREVENTS them from leaving-- it's cause for NATO action. If we buy the latter as well, then NATO is HELPING the Serbs with "ethnic cleansing." NOW, I think, would be a GREAT time to review all our old "Propaganda 101" texts ... -Caveat Lector- From: http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~alb/misc/truth.html From ``Microwaves and Behavior,'' by Don Justesen, American Psychologist, Mar. 1975: ``Human beings can `hear' microwave energy. The averaged densities of energy necessary for perception of the hisses, clicks, and pops that seem to occur inside the head are quite small, at least an order of magnitude below the current permissible limit in the United States for continuous exposure to microwaves, which is 10 mW/cm^2.'' ``To `hear' microwave energy, it must first be modulated so that it impinges upon the `listener' as a pulse or a series of pulses of high amplitude.'' ``Sharp and Grove ... found that appropriate modulation of microwave energy can result in direct `wireless' and `receiverless' communication of speech. They recorded by voice on tape each of the single-syllable words for digits between 1 and 10. The electrical sine-wave analogs of each word were then processed so that each time a sine wave crossed zero reference in the negative direction, a brief pulse of microwave energy was triggered. By radiating themselves with these `voice-modulated' microwaves, Sharp and Grover were readily able to hear, identify, and distinguish among the 9 words. The sounds heard were not unlike those emitted by persons with artificial larynxes.'' Note that the published date is 1975. There is little doubt that improved modulation and microwave generation techniques have been developed in the meantime. This is a fairly sophisticated application of microwave harassment techniques. The same article notes that basic microwave heating can cause damage before sensations of heating are even noticed. Microwave attacks by thermal loading can inflict brain damage and other physical damage, and on this point science has never been in doubt. [CTRL] Clinton Urged to Plan Ground War
-Caveat Lector- Clinton Urged to Plan Ground War Returning Congress Faces Debate Over Future of Policy By Guy Gugliotta and Juliet Eilperin Washington Post Staff Writers Saturday, April 10, 1999; Page A01 A bipartisan delegation of key senators and House members yesterday urged President Clinton to prepare for a possible ground war in Kosovo, underscoring the high stakes facing lawmakers returning from a two-week recess to debate the future of U.S. policy in the Balkans. "America, wake up," Rep. Steve Buyer (R-Ind.), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and an outspoken critic of the Clinton administration, told reporters at a news conference. "Europe is at war, and we are in it." Buyer was one of 11 Senate and House members who toured NATO installations and spoke to alliance leaders this week. Most, like Buyer, returned convinced that the United States and its NATO allies should stand firm in opposing the Serb forces of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and that Clinton should begin planning -- and preparing the American people -- for the possibility of a ground campaign. The delegation's militancy contrasted sharply with the more measured stances of many of their colleagues who stayed home during the two-week recess and the outright opposition of some who consider the air war over Yugoslavia a poorly conceived venture doomed to fail. But with polls reflecting growing support for a possible ground war in the Balkans, the politics of Kosovo in Congress have become increasingly complex. Clinton, like many Republican conservatives and some Democrats, remains opposed to deployment of U.S. ground troops, while hawkish GOP internationalists and an increasing number of Democrats insist that the war must be escalated even at the risk of U.S. casualties. Clinton presumably would like congressional support for whatever course he chooses, and he must eventually have congressional approval for extra money to fund the war. Whether he will get it will become clearer Tuesday, as Congress returns to work and finds its agenda consumed by the war in Kosovo. House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) have said little about the conflict during the recess, but members of both chambers are contemplating a variety of Balkans-related measures. In the Senate, Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) may revive a measure calling for NATO to arm the Kosovo resistance movement. John McCain (R-Ariz.) suggested a resolution from Lott and Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) saying "we support the president and urging him to take what action he deems necessary." But in the House, William F. Goodling (R-Pa.), chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, and chief deputy whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) are seeking support for a bill refusing to fund U.S. ground troops in Kosovo without congressional authorization. Rep. Greg Ganske (R-Iowa), a cosponsor, said his constituents "don't see we have an overriding interest" in sending ground troops to Kosovo and predicted Hastert would be "mobbed on the floor" by members seeking a vote on the issue. "This is sounding to us just like the beginning of Vietnam," he said. Rep. Tom Campbell (R-Calif.), meanwhile, intends to offer two resolutions under the War Powers Act, one formally declaring war and one calling for the withdrawal of troops 30 days after the bill's passage. "Congress should be asked to vote yes or no at this stage," Campbell said. As Congress considers these resolutions, both chambers may also have before them an emergency funding request from the administration, a measure likely to inspire considerable rancor among Republicans anxious to curb government spending but reluctant to deprive U.S. forces to do so. "We have to be honest with the American people," Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) said. "I would say this: You can't put a cost on your national security. If we believe this is a priority for your short-term and long-term interests, then cost has to be secondary." Democrats generally have favored the air offensive in Kosovo, while Republicans have criticized what they say is the administration's failure to anticipate Serb resistance. Still, partisanship has blurred some in recent days as the Kosovo intervention has deepened. McCain noted that "none of us have heard from the leadership" during the recess, and in the absence of any signal from Lott, the Senate debate is being dominated by hawkish Republicans -- McCain, Hagel and Armed Services Committee Chairman John W. Warner (R-Va.) among them. Still, the Senate clearly has its share of ambivalence. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), who opposes sending ground troops to Kosovo, described a series of town meetings in which "always more than one-third say continue doing what we are doing, 20 to 25 percent say get out as soon as we can, and the other 30 percent basically say [commit] ground troops." But, he added, 90 percent are unwilling
[CTRL] Irony Mystery
-Caveat Lector- From Int'l Herald Tribune Paris, Saturday, April 10, 1999 Defiant Serbs Turn Target Into Weapon A Popular Symbol of Anger Spreads as Yugoslavia Arms Itself With Irony By Michael Dobbs Washington Post Service BELGRADE - The predominant popular reaction in Yugoslavia to the NATO bombing campaign, a mixture of fatalism, defiance, gallows humor and paranoia, is best summed up by a symbol that has taken the country by storm over the past two weeks. You see the target sign everywhere, adorning billboards, the clothes of young children, newspaper front pages, Web sites, bridges and lapels of government ministers. It is designed to mock Western claims that NATO has no quarrel with the Serbian people, only with their leaders. ''We are trying to relieve our anger through humor,'' said Miroslav Radic, the director of a small public relations company in Belgrade that is responsible for popularizing the target sign. ''We are trying to send a message that not just Serbs, but anybody in the world can be targeted by aggression or by an anonymous bureaucracy,'' Mr. Radic added. The sign, supposedly borrowed from the advertising symbol for the American department store chain Target, has multiplied like a virus in the 16 days since NATO planes and cruise missiles began hitting sites that Western officials say are parts of President Slobodan Milosevic's war machine. Something of a Serbian equivalent of the peace sign worn by American peace demonstrators in the 1960s, it reflects widespread anger and bewilderment over the bombing. While the anger has been harnessed by the authorities and fanned by government propaganda, it has deep roots in the popular psyche. The grass-roots reaction to the bombing is best conveyed by the Serbian word inat, which has no direct English equivalent but implies a combination of extreme stubbornness and a willingness to go to any lengths to exact revenge on someone who has wronged you. Examples of inat are legion, from the waiter who spits in the soup of a patron who has been rude, to the people of Belgrade who took to the streets every day for three months in the winter of 1996-1997 to protest the Milosevic government's refusal to recognize an opposition victory in local elections. ''Inat is a natural state of mind for a weak person dealing with a stronger people,'' explained Voja Zenetic, a Belgrade commentator and advertising executive who has been leading the target campaign. ''When Milosevic thought he could do whatever he wanted with us, I was against him,'' he added. ''Now I am against NATO because they are strong and we are weak.'' He traces the concept of inat to the desire of Serbs to get back at the Turks during their 500-year subjugation by the Ottoman Empire. Other expressions of defiance of the United States and its NATO partners range from the creative to the obscene. Visitors to Belgrade are greeted by a huge billboard over the Sava River that is angled slightly upward, in the presumed direction of U.S. planes. It displays an obscenity in English. American-run restaurants have been given such names as the Baghdad Café, and the Canadian Embassy has been renamed ''the Embassy of Quebec,'' a suggestion of solidarity with separatists in that province. The U.S. Information Center, situated on a central pedestrian street, has been trashed and ransacked, along with the cultural centers of Britain and France. Lewd drawings of President Bill Clinton have appeared all over town, and Monica Lewinsky jokes are legion. NATO is routinely referred to as the ''New American Terrorist Organization.'' The once flourishing industry of Milosevic jokes, meanwhile, appears to be grinding to a halt. ''I don't think Americans would make jokes about Clinton if they were attacked by Russia,'' said Mr. Zenetic, who answers his cell phone, ''Hello, Clinton speaking.'' Asked to tell the most current Milosevic joke, he comes up with an old chestnut. Clinton, Yeltsin and Milosevic are in a plane that is about to crash. Fate decrees that only one can survive, and he will be chosen by democratic ballot. The final vote count goes like this: 1 vote for Clinton, 1 vote for Yeltsin, 1 million votes for Milosevic. Political jokes apart, the crisis has spawned much black humor, as Serbs attempt to make the best of their situation. An entire subspecies of humor has been spawned in the underground air-raid shelters frequented mainly by people who live close to military sites that could be targeted by NATO bombs. Question: ''What is the difference between a black beetle and a red beetle?'' Answer: ''Just the taste.'' Many of the jokes consist of puns that are difficult to translate into English. For example, the Serbian expression for ''good morning'' is ''dobar dan,'' but people now say ''bombar dan.'' Some jokes are
[CTRL] Fifteen Ideas
-Caveat Lector- From Utne Reader Online http://www.utne.com/lens98/society/15ideas.html 15 Ideas That Could Shake the World 15 years ago, the first issue of Utne Reader landed in the hands of 25,000 curious readers. It was hardly an upbeat time for advocates of alternative thinking and social change. The spirited energy of the '60s and early '70s seemed finally to have fizzled, and Ronald Reagan was well on his way to one of the biggest landslide elections in presidential history. Yet somehow Utne Reader survived and thrived. Even now, we're not exactly sure why. But we suspect it was our mission of offering new ideas--lots of ideas, on every subject under the sun--that had been ignored, suppressed, or simply forgotten by the major media. And that's still our primary mission. So to celebrate our 15th anniversary, we are proud to present 15 ideas that we believe could make a difference in the world over the next 15 years. Downsizing the United States American reaction to the breakup of the Soviet Union consisted mainly of self-congratulatory sermonizing about the superiority of our economic system. But the USSR's sudden and unexpected collapse should stand as a warning. The Soviet Union, like the United States, equated bigness with greatness. Governing a land stretching from sea to sea was a massive operation in which key decisions affecting the lives of hundreds of millions were made by a few power brokers. A small coterie of party bosses called the shots in the USSR; in the United States it is a narrow set of corporate bosses. As merger mania eats its way through our economy, these faceless business executives are gaining more and more control over every aspect of American life--and like Communist Party officials, they run things on the basis of what's best for them. As the Soviet experiment proved, the more that power is concentrated in the hands of a tiny group of people, the greater becomes the likelihood of political tyranny, economic inefficiency, and general disregard for the quality of life. We are already seeing signs of this in the United States--corporate campaign contributions dictate the terms of political debate, chain outlets crowd out independent businesses, and soulless strip-mall architecture spreads dreariness across the landscape. What can be done to prevent America from following the Soviet Union's path toward a creaky, clanking, centralized system that eventually will self-destruct in spasms of misery? The answer: Say no to bigness. We need to start dismantling the United States right now, before social conditions deteriorate to the point where it shatters all by itself. Dissolving the country into smaller, more efficient, friendlier units is the best means to ensure that basic choices affecting our communities are made by us, not by greedy, uninformed strangers thousands of miles away. Thomas Naylor and William H. Williamson, professors at Duke University, declare in Downsizing the U.S.A. (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing, 1997): "We believe the time has come to reconsider secession as a viable option for dealing with our own problems of big government, big military, big business, big labor, and big cities. . . . Our states should be allowed to secede from the Union; megastates like California, Texas, and New York should be permitted to break up." An independent New Mexico or Wisconsin or Pacific Northwest could retain its connections to the rest of the United States, ^ la the European Union, but gain the opportunity to steer its own clear course in social and political matters. While outside corporations would still exert economic pressure, a government closer to the people would do a better job of standing up for its citizens' interests. And small size is no barrier to prosperity; Switzerland, Denmark, and the Netherlands all rank near the top of the global scale for per capita income and quality of life. --Jay Walljasper The Bioneer Movement A bioneer is a biological pioneer, an ecological inventor who's got an elegant and often simple set of solutions for environmental conundrums. The term comes from the pen of Kenny Ausubel, co-founder of Seeds of Change, a company that conserves and sells seeds for native plants that have been overshadowed by mega-agriculture's mighty, and unsustainable, hybrids. Ausubel's adventures with a variety of modern-day Johnny Appleseeds convinced him that bioneering was a widespread and underappreciated reality. Under the umbrella of their nonprofit Collective Heritage Institute, he and partner Nina Simons run the annual Bioneers Conference, where, since 1990, crowds of green problem-solvers have gathered to share their knowledge. Who are the bioneers? John Todd creates "living machines" that use various plants to carry out simple miracles of waste treatment. Vinnie McKinney's Elixir Farms gathers and preserves neglected and rare strains of medicinal herbs, particularly herbs used in Chinese medicine. John Roulac researches worthwhile uses

[CTRL] GIANT SUPERMARKET CORPORATIONS ARE KILLING YOUR CHILDREN!
Date: Sat, Apr 10, 1999, 11:00 pm Supermarket Killers GIANT SUPERMARKET CORPORATIONSARE KILLING YOUR CHILDREN! - For Immediate Release - Two chemicals, DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) and L-aspartate dehydrogenase(an extremely potent enzyme used in nerve gas), are being combined andapplied to the handles of shopping carts. DMSO mixed with poison hasbeen used for decades by terrorists and counter-terrorists to attacktheir enemies. DMSO might have some important health benefits in its own right (seethis link: http://www.dmso.org/), but it possesses the property oftraveling through organic tissue very rapidly. Terrorists and spies havebeen known to mix DMSO with cyanide and apply the mixture to steeringwheels, doorknobs, etc. that their enemies touch. DMSO carries thepoison swiftly into the bloodstream, killing the victim. L-aspartate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that was first used in WWI as anagent in nerve gas, which has since been outlawed. Used alone, itproduces in adults a mild form of dehydration which makes shoppers morelikely to purchase drinks and sugar-laden foods. BUT IT CAN OFTEN BEFATAL TO SMALL CHILDREN! Enterprising supermarket managers, whose year-end bonuses often dependupon their ability to increase sales, have started applying a mixture ofthese two chemicals to the handles of their shopping carts. For anadult, shopping alone, this tends to only make him or her thirsty. Butwhen a small child touches the handle, or worse, contacts the handlewith his or her mouth, severe dehydration occurs within a matter ofminutes. The child begins to cough, then choke, and within 10 minutes, can die. This is not a hoax or an urban legend! Please check out the sourcesprovided, and you will be able to confirm that this is absolutely andhorrifyingly true. Both 60 Minutes and America's Most Wanted are investigating thisstory. The urban legend web sites haven't talked about this at all. Whynot? BECAUSE IT'S A FACT. The supermarkets are aware that their secrethas been discovered: On February 27th, 1999, Federated GrocersCorporation, which owns a nationwide chain, issued a memo to all storemanagers. The memo read, in part any manager caught applying anysubstance to company property will be subject to termination andcriminal prosecution. The key word in the memo is caught. WHAT IFTHEY'RE NOT CAUGHT? THE DEATH TOLL IS RISING! In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, 12 childrenhave been admitted to hospitals since mid-December, 1998. Six of themare dead, and one two-year-old is still in a coma. I know this becausethat two-year-old is my precious baby, Amanda. In Chicago for the sametime period, eight children were admitted to emergency rooms sufferingfrom severe dehydration caused by this compound. Three of them died. InLos Angeles, sixteen children have been admitted to Cedars-Sinai, UCLA,and USC Medical Centers for the same reason. How do doctors know it'sthe same thing? Sadly, because the autopsies performed on eleven of themrevealed the presence of both substances. In every single one of the cases mentioned above, the only thing thatall of the children had in common was that they went to the hospitalDIRECTLY FROM A MAJOR SUPERMARKET. Private investigators, hired by theparents, have recorded on videotape store employees painting a substanceonto the shopping cart handles. Chemical tests have now identified thesubstances. We must stop the slaughter of our children! Writing to the supermarketchains has been tried, and of course they all deny any wrongdoing. Youmust write to your congressperson, demanding an investigation of thesecrimes. Some representatives and senators have respondedsympathetically, but many of them have received too much campaignsupport from the major chains. Here is where you can obtain the e-mailaddresses of your senators and representative: http://thomas.loc.gov/ In the meantime, here is what we need you to do: 1. Don't take your children shopping with you. 2. Wipe the handles of your shopping carts with a moist paper towel or adiaper wipe. 3. Report to the police anyone applying a liquid to shopping carthandles. DON'T go to the store manager with this! 4. Please spread the word. Our single greatest weapon in this struggle is information. Thesupermarket chains don't want this story to get out. Pleasefor thesake of your children, and for the sake of any children youknowplease help spread the word. Together we might yet be able toprotect our young. I will try to keep the e-mail account below active for as long aspossible, but I've already received some threats, so I don't know if Ican keep it open. Michelle B. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I don't share your view. I have never seen her as a hero, but as a young woman who accomplished personal growth in a hostile climate. How many nineteen-year-olds can face such pressure and lack of privacy and develop a healthy sense of self? No, she wasn't forced into marriage, and there certainly were perks, but she couldn't have understood what she was getting into at that age. She couldn't have accurately predicted the full consequences of fame. I sympathize with how difficult it must have been for her -- especially to find herself facing an insatiable press without the support of a loving marriage. She was sensitive and caring and human. Sensitive to the IMAGE she presented to the public, and to which end she PRETENDED to be caring, and interested in humanitarian causes... Well, how remarkable for you that you know her innermost heart. She was beautiful and enjoyed her beauty. You fanatical devotees are really keen on that, aren't you? Thereby proving the superficiality of the Diana cult, as superficial as she herself was... I'm observant. But you can call me what you like. Personally, I think she made great strides in finding her own humanity. I was saddened by her death, and am suspicious that she was murdered. I am a devotee of some Kennedy's (current and former), of the author Alex Constantine, and usually of the late Jim Garrison. I'm not fanatical about anything except the safety, protection and respect of children. IMHO that's what counts -- warmth and the absence of crippling envy. And if I WAS going to 'envy' anyone for their physical attributes, there are any number of candidates who also demonstrate a beautiful SOUL and an ample amount of intellect for me to choose from, that Diana Spencer wouldn't even make the list... But unlike YOU, I do NOT value society's Barbie-doll definition of what makes a woman 'valuable'...I find someone like Princess Anne, who day after day does 'grunt work' for any number of charities, WITHOUT fanfare and an entourage of reporters and photographers in tow, far more 'beautiful' than Diana Spencer could ever have hoped to have become... I also think Princess Anne would make a far better monarch than her younger brother...not that I believe there should be a monarchy at all, but if the British insist on maintaining the anachronistic institution, they at least should insist that the best qualified issue of the current monarch assume the throne on her demise... And thereby lies the explanation of the whole 'Diana phenomenon'...IF there wasn't a monarchy, no one would have even heard of her...she would have been just some school teacher who spent her spare time getting her hair and nails done and going to discos at nighthardly the icon of humanitarianism, even on a limited local level... And if she had been as 'plain' as, say, Camilla Parker, she'd never have become the darling of the media she allowed herself to become... That's how our readership grows. Thanks! bh THE SCOOP for April 12, 1999 ___ Kosovo We Have To Do Something... Don't We? © 1999 Bob Harris [EMAIL PROTECTED] [] = italics Longtime readers know I can't write a damn thing without digressing all over the place. So you won't be surprised when I begin a depressing article about Kosovo with a sad story about my Dad. Sorry, but it's the most appropriate way to make my point I can think of. In the late spring of 1995, my father's lymphoma, which had been in remission, returned. Untreated, his life expectancy was maybe five years. The first round of chemotherapy had weakened him. It had not cured him. But [we have do something], said the doctors. And so they bombed him with more chemicals, even harsher ones than before. Six months later I held his hand and watched him die from the side effects. The doctors offered no apologies. They had done everything they could. The urge to do [something] in the face of horror is strong. You make yourself feel more powerful over things you can't control. But that doesn't mean what you're doing will actually help the problem. It may only make things worse. Here's a list of the countries the U.S. has bombed since the end of World War II, compiled by historian William Blum and posted on the ZNet website (http://www.lbbs.org/): China 1945-46 Korea 1950-53 China 1950-53 Guatemala 1954 Indonesia 1958 Cuba 1959-60 Guatemala 1960 Congo 1964 Peru 1965 Laos 1964-73 Vietnam 1961-73 Cambodia 1969-70 Guatemala 1967-69 Grenada 1983 Libya 1986 El Salvador 1980s Nicaragua 1980s Panama 1989 Iraq 1991-99 Sudan 1998 Afghanistan 1998 Yugoslavia 1999 In how many of these instances did a democratic government, respectful of human rights, occur as a direct result? [Not once.] Depending on who you ask, territorial disputes between Serbs and Albanians go back to sometime between the end of World War II and 1389. The Serbs consider parts of Kosovo historic national ground, much like the Alamo or Bunker Hill are to Americans. In recent decades, Albanians, often fleeing an oppressive government in their adjacent homeland, have become a large local majority. Thus what is universally termed by the U.S. media the Conflict In Kosovo. (Which, you'll notice, is increasingly pronounced "Kosova" by TV combovers and boob jobs. That's because they're mimicking the White House and Pentagon, who prefer the latter because that's how Albanians say it, thus transforming a single schwa sound into a show of solidarity with a people whose history, customs, and language they have no interest in whatsoever. Lame. But anyway.) So it's hard to say exactly when this whole fracas started. Exactly where bombing the holy crap out of Yugoslavia could have been averted is a little easier to pin down. For years, the Albanians of Kosovo were led by Ibrahim Rugova, a Gandhi fan who practiced non-violent resistance. Sounds like someone we'd want to hang out with, right? But Rugova -- and the Albanians he represented -- were completely ignored by the U.S. framers of the 1995 Dayton accords, which treated Slobodan Milosevic, who could have easily faced trial as a war criminal, as an essential partner in any future peace and stability. Milosevic's abrogation of Kosovar autonomy had occurred five years earlier, and Serbian repression of the Albanians in Kosovo was already underway and well-documented. But Rugova, the Albanians, and Kosovo were simply not a matter of U.S. concern. After which, the KLA's armed solution made a lot more sense to a lot of Albanians. Which in turn gave the Serbs a rationale for increased security measures. Conflict escalates... and here we are. Is the U.S. (and its NATO figleaf) truly intervening for humanitarian reasons? History [very] strongly indicates otherwise. As has been widely noted, the U.S. did nothing to stop a death toll literally 100 times larger in Rwanda just five years ago. And in recent years, the U.S. has supported the people [committing] the atrocities in Indonesia, Columbia, Pakistan, El Salvador, and numerous other countries. Clinton himself admitted just weeks ago that the U.S. was on the side of the murderers in Guatemala. We're supposed to believe that this time it's different. But at this very moment, Turkey, a NATO ally, engages in well-documented repression against its Kurdish population, with U.S. knowledge and support. Reports of Serbian atrocities are heart-rending to any decent human being, but

Clinton Willing to Risk Global War; A Pentagon Officer: "The Man Is an Ass" (From the Capitol Hill Blue) WASHINGTON, Apr. 5 - Bill Clinton's failing Kosovo war "is part of a desperate, dangerous and fatally flawed plan by a scandal-ridden President to salvage a legacy for the history books," White House and Pentagon insiders told Doug Thompson, the Capitol Hill Blue publisher and a former journalist. Interviews conducted over the past two weeks by Thompson showed an increasingly isolated President whose obsession with his place in the history books has led him to ignore the recommendations not only of career military officers, but also of many close aides. "The President is standing alone on a lot of this," says one White House aide. "He's finder fewer and fewer people who are willing to stick with him over Kosovo. He's backed himself, his administration and his country into a corner." Two who are sticking with Clinton are National Security Advisor Sandy Berger and Secretary of State Madeline Albright, who aides say would follow Clinton anywhere. "Berger and Albright put their loyalty to Clinton above their oaths to serve the Constitution," says military analyst Sander Owen. "It's pathetic to watch." At the Pentagon, senior officers now call the President the "draft dodger in chief," and sneer at his inability to grasp simple military tactics. "The man is an ass," says one career officer. "He has no concept of a military operation. To him, it's just a video game. What we don't know is how many body bags it will take to make this jerk face reality." Arnold Crittendon, a retired intelligence analyst, says Clinton has become a "laughing stock" in both the military and intelligence communities. "His political motives are so blatant that they would be farcical if we weren't talking about the lives of American soldiers," Crittendon says. "There wasn't that much respect for the man to begin with. What little there was is long gone now." [...] Former Navy Capt. Al Simonson says he knows several career military professionals who are willing to resign their commissions rather than continue to serve under Clinton. "I've been around the military for more than 30 years and I have never seen morale this low," Simonson says. "Bill Clinton has destroyed the soul of our armed forces." Toxins from NATO Bombs Endangering Six Countries Besides Serbia; Use of Depleted Uranium Shells Condemned by Experts ATHENS, Apr. 10 - Greek experts registered an increase in levels of toxic substances in the atmosphere of Greece, and said that Albania, Macedonia, Italy, Austria and Hungary all face a potential threat to human health as a result of NATO's bombing of Serbia, which includes the use of radioactive depleted uranium shells. Prof. Christos Zerefos, a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and director of the world center for ozone cartography, said that one day after the start NATO's attack on Yugoslavia, Greek experts discovered in the atmosphere dioxin and particles of the group of toxic agents knows as furanes, which pose a high risk for human health of the entire region. Meanwhile, back in New York, the International Action Center, a group that opposes the use of depleted-uranium weapons, called the Pentagon's decision to use the A-10 "Warthog" jets against targets in Serbia "a danger to the people and environment of the entire Balkans". The A-10s were the anti-tank weapon of choice in the 1991 war against Iraq. It carries a GAU-8/A Avenger 30 millimeter seven-barrel cannon capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute. During that war it fired 30 mm rounds reinforced with depleted uranium, a radioactive weapon. John Catalinotto, a spokesperson from the Depleted Uranium Education Project of the International Action Center, and an editor of the 1997 book "Metal of Dishonor: Depleted Uranium", said the use of DU weapons in Yugoslavia "adds a new dimension to the crime NATO is perpetrating

[Weekly Wire] Recalling "Young Moses" - By Jackson Baker APRIL 13, 1998: The weekend of remembrances for the late Dr. Martin Luther King begins strangely: There, at the vestibule of historic Clayborn (AME) Temple on Hernando St. on Friday morning is the Rev. James Lawson, ex- of the Memphis ministry and now of Los Angeles, an impressive figure whose hair, gone white in the 30 years since the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, crowns him now as the patriarch he is. Lawson is one of those - like the Rev. Samuel Billy Kyles, like the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and so many others among the several thousand gathered in Memphis to mark the anniversary of the martyr's assassination - who were there, either at the Lorraine Motel or close by when Dr. King was felled by a 30.06 rifle bullet at almost 6 on the evening of April 4, 1968. His hair was dark then, but his voice could not have been any stronger than it is today, as he dilates upon the theme of "Chaos or Community?" - which happens also, as Lawson notes, to be the title of King's last published work. Striking a note which others will also intone this weekend, out loud or in print, Lawson disdains the familiar term "civil rights movement" as a descriptor of his and Dr. King's mission: "We called ourselves a liberation movement, a freedom movement, a justice movement, a movement to transform America to redeem the soul of America." It was a movement "not only for black people, or for the defeat of white people," he says. It was a movement, Lawson explains, that concerned itself with strikes (notably, of course, the 1968 strike of Memphis sanitation workers which would be Dr. King's last crusade) and with nuclear weaponry and with the condition of working people in general. It was all of this - and no mere issue of color - that delivered Martin Luther King to his "crucifixion" in Memphis. There is much in that vein, and Lawson says it both majestically and convincingly persuasively. There is also, however, a compulsion to confer blame. Mayor Willie Herenton is unnamed, but he is the obvious target of a brief phillipic Lawson delivers against the tear-gassing of protesters at the ill-fated Ku Klux Klan rally in Memphis. It is on the subject of the assassination, however, that Lawson becomes most intense and accusatory. He talks, as other conspiracy theorists have, of the alleged removal of police protective units from the care of Dr. King on the fateful night, of "two" white Mustangs parked on Main St., of "witnesses" who could swear that James Earl Ray, the convicted assassin, did not fire the murder weapon. And he names names - among them Claude Armour, the director of police in 1968, and Bill Gibbons, the D.A. of today - to whom he imputes, if not complicity, then at the very least ignominious participation in a coverup. He extols Judge Joe Brown - recently removed by the state Court of Appeals, because of his alleged bias, from hearing any more of Ray's petitions - and he mentions the word "Nazi" in suggestive proximity to the name of Mississippi's Trent Lott, the current Senate majority leader. Lawson does what he can to exculpate Ray and to explain away his 1969 guilty plea, saying at one point, "The sheriff incarcerated him in such a way as to cause brainwashing and sickness." He proclaims, "The issue is not 'conspiracy,' it is, 'Who killed Martin Luther King!'" and he rounds to his peroration: "We will not permit the crucifixion to go and be buried. We will not permit the struggle to be in vain!" There have been frequent murmurs of approval - even shouts - from the audience. Some in attendance - notably Herenton, Gibbons, and U.S. Representative Harold Ford Jr. - have been more selective in their response. Among those not on hand is Bill Morris, the Shelby County sheriff (and later county mayor) who in 1968 was seen, in a widely published photograph, leading the captive Ray off to his "incarceration." Never a segregationist, Morris had black support throughout his political career, sponsored innovative programs for impoverished youth, and delivered an impassioned apostrophe to Dr. King at the 1991 dedication ceremony for the National Civil Rights Museum, mere blocks away in the site of the old Lorraine, where other events will take place on this commemorative weekend. Morris has nonetheless gone down - albeit anonymously - in the impromptu oral history of James Lawson, taking his place there alongside baritone Lott, that putative Meistersinger from Nuremberg, and all the others. Friday night's memorial service at Mason Temple, site of King's last speech, the uncannily prescient "I've Been to the Mountaintop" oration, is - to

-Caveat Lector- http://www.aci.net/kalliste/ A HREF="http://www.aci.net/kalliste/"The Home Page of J. Orlin Grabbe/A - Operation Allied Farce NATO to Serbs: We will grind you to pieces (Wasn't Timothy McVeigh put in prison for this?) BRUSSELS, April 10 (AFP) - NATO said Saturday its 18 days of bombing had seriously weakened Yugoslavia's armed forces and warned it was prepared to "grind them into pieces" if that was required for victory. After a night in which three of four planned bombing raids had to be aborted because of poor weather, alliance officials were keen to talk up the cumulative damage inflicted over the last two and a half weeks. Chief spokesman Jamie Shea said a total of 150 major targets had been hit since the bombing began on March 24. "It is our belief that this operation is being effective," Shea said. "We have done a hell of a lot of damage." His comments came as one of the alliance's top generals issued a chilling warning to Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic not to underestimate NATO's resolve or hope for cracks to appear between the allies. "We will see it through and we will win," General Klaus Naumann, the chair of NATO's military committee, said. Milosevic had a choice between backing down or being left "presiding over rubble." "He should know we have the ability to grind his forces into pieces." NATO claims its airstrikes have destroyed the central direction of Serbia's air defence system, 29 of Yugoslavia's MiG fighter jets (half the total), two of the three main Yugoslav army headquarters and fuel depots containing 50 percent of the military's stocks. The security forces' command and control systems and lines of communication had also been severely damaged, Shea said. The overnight attacks had taken out a radio transmission tower in Pristina, the main town in Kosovo. Although NATO has pulled back from a threat to bomb Serbian radio and television transmitters, it insisted the tower was a "legitimate target" because it was being used for military communications. Despite the upbeat presentation of the current situation, NATO admits it is some way from achieving its declared objectives in Kosovo. Milosevic has so far shown no sign of pulling his troops out of Kosovo, putting an end to the ethnic cleansing of the province's ethnic Albanian community or agreeing to the deployment of an international peace force. Naumann implicitly acknowledged that the allies' tactics had not produced the expected results. "Quite honestly we had all hoped that Milosevic would blink and give in," he said. That objective had not been achieved, so "now we are in a phase of attrition." As a coalition of 19 countries, NATO did not have the option of changing tactics swiftly and using "overwhelming force" the way a single country might have opted to do, he said. Naumann admitted that NATO would never be able to wipe out every last Serb soldier in Kosovo from the air. But the alliance's strategy of isolating them by cutting their lines of supply and communication will ultimately leave them, "psychologically at least, with a broken neck." AFP, April 10, 1999 Commercial Espionage US Spy Satellites "Raiding German firms' secrets" NSA listens in on corporate communication SECURITY experts in Germany have uncovered new evidence of a big American industrial espionage operation in Europe using satellite listening posts in Britain and Germany. German business is thought to suffer annual losses of at least £7 billion through stolen inventions and development projects. With Europe already locked in a trade war with its American ally over bananas, Germany's high-tech industry wants its government to back a counter-offensive. The main centres used for satellite tapping of millions of confidential company telephone calls, fax and e-mail messages are believed to be terrestrial listening posts run by the American National Security Agency (NSA) at Menwith Hill, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Bad Aibling, Bavaria, with the backing of the American government. "Industrial espionage is becoming increasingly aggressive. Secrets are being siphoned off to an extent never experienced until now," said Horst Teltschik, a senior BMW board member and a former security adviser to Helmut Kohl. He is trying to co-ordinate a German business response to the spying problem. The practice of lifting industrial secrets via satellite listening posts has grown steadily in central Europe since the decline in political espionage that followed the collapse of communism. But it has been further encouraged by advances in communications technology. Victims have included such German firms as the wind generator manufacturer Enercon. Last year it developed what it thought was a secret invention enabling it to generate electricity from wind power at a far cheaper rate than before. However, when the company tried to market its invention in the United States, it was confronted by its American rival, Kenetech,

Bloated nation-states entangled in outdated alliances are taking a relatively minor backwater conflict and making it escalate, just as they did in World War I. And why? Because theyre spilling blood over there So, like parents setting a "good" example by beating a child who has hit another child, Bill Clinton and his NATO cronies are waging war to teach the virtue of peace. The hypocrisy of a president who protested and avoided taking part in a similar Big Brother police action when he was younger, and whos now sending young Americans to die in yet another senseless war is inescapable. The unmitigated gall of it is enough to make one sick, if one werent already made sick by the voting publics sanction of such hypocrisy. However, beyond hypocrisy, there are many good reasons why the U.S. and NATO Johnny-come-lately entry into this 1000-year-old conflict is a bad idea. Heres a quick list for starters: 1] You cant teach peace at the point of a gun (so, not surprisingly, NATOs action has resulted in an escalation of the violence against "ethnic Albanians" in Kosovo). 2] If the U.S. and NATO have a right to stop "bad things" from happening anywhere in the world, even within the borders of sovereign countries, then they are declaring themselves to be the de facto world government. There are no more sovereign countries. 3] The U.S. military was established by the Constitution and its authors to defend the several states from foreign aggression. "Global cop" adventures are inconsistent with and undermine the U.S. constitution, which U.S. national leaders have sworn to uphold. 4] NATO was created to enable combined western strength against Eastern aggression. The "mission creep" implicit in this "global cop" action goes against NATOs charter, and is an object lesson in why NATO should have been disbanded when the Eastern threat collapsed. 5] By acting aggressively in ways that violate the alliances reason for existing, NATO is destabilizing the region (NATO claims to the contrary not withstanding) and increasing the chances of a minor conflict growing to engulf peoples that presently have nothing at stake in the conflict. (Russia has kicked out its NATO representatives and sent warships to the areathat should be enough to make any sane person at least a little nervous.) 6] U.S. taxpayer money is being spent on "do gooding" that many taxpayers consider to be quite the opposite. The U.S. government is dropping million-dollar bombs to no worthy effect, a major waste of taxpayer money, even that of hawkish taxpayers. 7] Civilians in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY Serbia), most of whom didnt even support Milosevic before the bombing started, are being killed. Remember that Milosevic is not the properly elected leader of FRY; he set aside the elections, which he lost! How ironic it would be if the casualties included some of the students who protested Milosevics illegal regime students who received high praise from American couch potatoes who watched them on the 6 oclock news. 8] FRY was/is acting within its own borders. We may not like what Milosevics soldiers are doing to the "ethnic Albanians" (not that its much different from what Albanians have done to Serbs and Croats in the past, or Croats to Serbs and Muslims ), but where does a U.S. president or NATO get the authority to apply force to a sovereign nation that is not attacking a single other country (such as Iraq did)? 9] The U.S. didnt like what the Chinese did within their own borders as regards Tienanmen Square, but didnt try to stop the bloodshed with bombs. Theres plenty of ethnic violence in northern Ireland, why not bomb them too? What about the scores of ethnic and nationalistic conflicts going on around the world? Hey, using this U.S./NATO action as precedent, we could finally get rid of those pesky inner city ghettos in the U.S.theres plenty of violence (some of it is even ethnic) going on thereby having the government do a MOVE bombing on a national scale. That would take care of the problem quite nicely, and the BATF could bring along their flags to hoist after the Federal Baby Incinerators are done gassing the children of resistors. 10] If the U.S. and NATO back Kosovar independence, then theyd have to back Chechen independence in Russia in order to remain consistent. Theyd have to let Texas secede too, if Texas adopt the Texas Constitution 2000. Or how about me? If Im the Tiggre Liberation Army, will the U.S. bomb itself when I fight back against their oppression? This war in Yugoslavia

-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.zolatimes.com/V3.15/pageone.html A HREF="http://www.zolatimes.com/V3.15/pageone.html"Laissez Faire City Times - Volume 3 Issue 15 /A - The Laissez Faire City Times April 12, 1999 - Volume 3, Issue 15 Editor Chief: Emile Zola The Answering of Kautski by Richard Mitchell Why should we bother to reply to Kautski? He would reply to us, and we would have to reply to his reply. There's no end to that. It will be quite enough for us to announce that Kautski is a traitor to the working class, and everyone will understand everything. -- Lenin TYRANNY is always and everywhere the same, while freedom is always various. The well and truly enslaved are dependable; we know what they will say and think and do. The free are quirky. Tyrannies may be overt and violent or covert and insidious, but they all require the same thing, a subject population in which the power of the word is dulled and, thus, the power of thought occluded and the power of deed brought low. That's why Lenin's bolshevism and American educationism have so much in common. "Give me four years to teach the children,'' said Lenin, "and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.'' He wasn't talking about reading, writing, and arithmetic. He wanted only enough of such skills so that the workers could puzzle out their quotas and so that a housebroken bureaucracy could get on with the business of rural electrification. Our educationists call it basic minimum competency, and they hope that we'll settle for it as soon as they can cook up some way of convincing us that they can provide it. For Lenin, as for our educationists, to "teach the children'' is to "adjust'' them into some ideology. Lenin understood the power of that ready refuge from logical thought that is called in our schools the "affective domain,'' the amiable Never-never Land of the half-baked, to whom anything they name "humanistic'' is permitted, and of whom skillful scholarship and large knowledge are not required. Lenin approved of the "teaching'' of values and the display, with appropriate captions, of socially acceptable "role models.'' He knew all too well the worth of behavior modification. He knew that indoctrination in "citizenship'' is safer than the study of history, and that a familiarity with literature is not conducive to the wholehearted pursuit of career objectives in the real-life situation, or arena. On the other hand, Lenin knew that there was little risk that coherent thought could erupt in minds besieged by endless prattle about the clarification of values. He knew that reiterated slogans can dull even a good mind into a stupor out of which it will never arise to overthrow the slogan-makers. In this, our educationists have followed him assiduously, justifying every new crime against freedom of language and thought by mouthing empty slogans about "quality education.'' "Most of the people,'' Lenin wrote, not in public, of course, but in a letter, "just aren't capable of thinking. The best they can do is learn the words.'' If that reminds you of those bleating sheep in Animal Farm, try to forget them, and think instead of the lowing herds of pitiable teacher-trainees, many of whom began with good intentions and even with brains, singing for their certificates dull dirges of interpersonal interaction outcomes enhancement and of change-agent skills developed in time-action line. Lenin's contempt was reserved for the masses. These educationists, pretenders to egalitarianism, hold even their own students in contempt, offering them nothing but words. If you think it too rash to charge our educationists even as unwitting agents of tyranny and thought control, consider these lines from a recent proclamation of the Association of California School Administrators: "Parent choice'' proceeds from the belief that the purpose of education is to provide individual students with an education. In fact, educating the individual is but a means to the true end of education, which is to create a viable social order to which individuals contribute and by which they are sustained. "Family choice'' is, therefore, basically selfish and anti-social in that it focuses on the "wants'' of a single family rather than the "needs'' of society. So what do you think? Would it suit Lenin? And if you'd like to object, you'll see that these people also know how to answer Kautski. They'll just pronounce you an elitist, and everybody will understand everything. -Caveat Lector- from: http://www.zolatimes.com/V3.15/pageone.html A HREF="http://www.zolatimes.com/V3.15/pageone.html"Laissez Faire City Times - Volume 3 Issue 15 /A - The Laissez Faire City Times April 12, 1999 - Volume 3, Issue 15 Editor Chief: Emile Zola The 51 Percent Solution A modern theory of value and virtue by Wolf DeVoon Let's start by defining our terms. A "value" is something you want to gain or keep. A lot of people think that life is a fundamental value, to be preserved at all costs. "Family values" are a bundle of warm fuzzies: taking the kids to a park, teaching them to be nice people, helping each other through life's difficulties. Values are conditions we deem to be good. They are outcomes that require effort to achieve and maintain, something worth fighting for. "Virtue" is a purposeful action, required to obtain or defend a value. The American Founding Fathers declared that freedom was a fundamental right; they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to the battle for American independence. If you are married to someone you love, the virtues of fidelity and honesty are actions that preserve an intimate partnership. If you are a banker, fidelity and honesty must be practiced to keep your job. Basic definitions concluded, we come to the controversial topic of standards. The purpose of having standards is to enable us to measure things, like the distance between London and San Francisco (5358 miles via British Airways, flying a Great Circle route, about 10 hours). Let's say, for instance, you decide that being rich is your No. 1 priority. If wealth is your basic standard of value, you'll measure everything in life according to its financial consequences. Telling someone the truth suddenly becomes a lot less important. Deciding who to marry is a question of which bachelor or heiress has the biggest fortune (or the greatest potential of earning one). If the Ten Commandments are your standard of value and virtue, everything in life is measured according to whether it was mentioned by Moses. Islamic revolutionaries select actions and targets according to the obligation of jihad. Zen masters organize their day around tea ceremonies and try to rid themselves of distracting passions. Catholic nuns and monks concentrate their efforts on transcendant communion with God, or they serve the needy, depending on which particular saint inspired their vows. Moral standards, therefore, tend to organize values and virtues into a hierarchical scheme. Fertile young women of child-bearing age are usually interested in finding a suitable husband, a good doctor, a comfortable home, good schools, safe neighborhoods, physical fitness, child psychology, nutrition, the prevention of infectious disease and ten thousand other details pertaining to offspring, marriage, and family life. The central organizing principle or standard of value in this case is the welfare of her children. To a military commander, first priority is the welfare of his troops, expressed in dozens of specific concerns: training, equipment, supplies, logistics, morale, command structure, communications, tactical use of diversion and surprise, how to retreat, etc. Pilots focus on flying the airplane and ultimately landing in one piece. Myth, Morality and Moderation Most people conduct themselves like pilots. They navigate their lives away from danger and toward successful outcomes, measuring "success" in terms of comfort, pleasure, acceptance by their peers, and a sense of mastery or achievement. The whole point of living is to get good at it, to see yourself as a competent individual, whose personal values were realized by virtuous pursuits and dutiful labor. Historically, this common-sense morality did not prevent people from joining the Nazis or the Communist Party, both of which offered comfort, pleasure, and social approval to millions of citizens who aspired to be "good Germans" and "pioneers of Socialism". The folks who followed Jim Jones to Guyana, or David Koresh to Waco, thought they were part of a success-oriented, life-sustaining enterprise. No one joined the parade thinking it would lead them to death and disgrace, that their children would be murdered, that their capacity to love would be recklessly extinguished by a charismatic fool. It is no excuse that the victims of fascism or fanatic religious cults were "brainwashed." Whoever you are, American citizen or stateless refugee, innocent child or college graduate, your brain has been washed by a thousand years of received wisdom, an ocean of culture. The young always follow their parents. We follow each other, because our survival is tied to social integration. Manufacturers make products that people really want. Politicians advocate policies that flatter and appease their constituents. In America, the penalty for expressing an unpopular opinion is political defeat,

Or has the IRS come after your uncle merely because he attended a peaceful protest of the income tax? Send in Vin Suprynowicz. Why Vin? Because when it comes to writing about such encroachments of liberty, Suprynowicz is among the best. This and his many other wordsmithing skills are evident in his new book, Send in the Waco Killers: Essays on the Freedom Movement, 1993-1998. Although this is Suprynowiczs first book, hes hardly new to writing. Hes been a newsman for many years, and currently is an editorial writer for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Suprynowicz also writes a syndicated political column, "The Libertarian", that runs twice a week in newspapers around the country. Its from his columns that the book springs, but individuals familiar with Suprynowiczs column (its available on the Internet at the Vinyard, http://www.infomagic.com/liberty/vinyard.htm, or the Vindex at http://www.nguworld.com/vindex) should not conclude that they will find nothing of interest in it. Rather than simply tossing together related columns, the material has been reworked into chapters which flow beautifully and logically, offering an in-depth analysis of the topic. The result is nine chapters, covering topics such as the War On (Some) Drugs, public education, and the mainstream media. Each chapter is a clear elucidation of the libertarian position on the issue, along with examples of why government "help" is typically anything but helpful. Although I read a lot of political essays on the World Wide Web, I will confess that I hadnt read many of Suprynowiczs columns. A few of them crossed my screen, but more often, I saw quotations from them in peoples sig lines, or as support for an argument being presented. The pieces that I did see struck me as being very well done, and when I began to read Send in the Waco Killers I wondered if those were his best work. I now know that Suprynowiczs writing is uniformly high quality. That level of quality is somewhat surprising among todays newspaper professionals, the majority of whom dub some phenomenon with a catch-phrase and proceed to bleat it ad infinitum. In the entire book, I saw only one repeated phrase, and it was used precisely twice. Suprynowicz is one of a vanishing breed, a journalist with true skill. Suprynowicz is also not just a writer, but an investigator of the things about which he writes. Thus, Send in the Waco Killers is not just a volume of solid, thought-provoking essays from a libertarian perspective, but it offers substantive facts to support the points and arguments being offered. Checking into obscure FDA regulations and proposals; repeated, in-person interviews with individuals on both sides of a situation; finding historical precedents for current judicial shenanigans; and repeated, detailed follow-ups on stories are regular tools he uses. This is the way journalism is supposed to be, and this is one reason why his columns are powerful individual statements. Together in book form, those statements form an unwavering declaration, that at least one individual in the media knows how badly rigged the gummint game is, and isnt afraid to tell others about it. Particularly effective in this regard is the chapter titled "Why People Hate the Government". It recounts stories of typical people who are victimized by government "assistance" or thuggery in a manner which makes the chapter an ideal vehicle for introducing the freedom philosophy to individuals who arent likely to read Rand or Hayek. One such story is that of Sissy Harrington-McGill, who became a target of FDA attention. She sold all-natural pet foods that she developed, doing quite well with her business. The FDA first started bugging her for failing to list ingredients that were not in her products, and then for not having those ingredients in the products. Even though she changed her labels almost yearly for close to a decade, they never satisfied the FDA. Harrington-McGill claims that the intent was to financially drain her company, an explanation which has merit. Then the FDA said her stores had to be closed, under a statute they refused to reveal to her. (It turns out that the "statute" was in a bill that the House had passed, and the Senate was expected to pass relatively quickly, but did not.) When Harrington-McGill insisted on a jury

'Rosslyn, Guardian of the Secrets of the Holy Grail' by Tim Wallace-Murphy Marilyn Hopkins, Element Books UK, US and Australia, 1999. UKP16.99/USD24.95 Rosslyn Chapel is a fascinating place, which, along with Glastonbury itself, is one of the mystical sites of the British Isles to which I have returned most often. It's associated in many people's minds with more than one ancient mystery, from the Jesus Bloodline and the Priory of Sion to the discovery of America and the origins of Freemasonry. The prospect of a definitive guide to the chapel and its mysteries, and to the possibility of ancient artefacts hidden within its stones, is positively mouthwatering to anyone who shares these interests. Unfortunately, this is not that book. I shall expand on this statement in a moment or two. To his great credit, Tim Wallace-Murphy makes his motivation and agenda absolutely clear, from the first sentence of his introduction to the book. He is the disciple and spiritual heir of the late Trevor Ravenscroft, who devoted much of his life to the investigation of Grail-related places and artefacts and their contemporary spiritual significance. 'The Cup of Destiny' and 'The Spear of Destiny' surely have their place on any Grail-seeker's bookshelf. Together with Tim Wallace-Murphy, Trevor Ravenscroft also investigated and published on the subject of the so called 'Apocalyptic Configuration in Stone', a sequence of ancient sacred sites which has significance for believers in apocalyptic prophecy; the sites in question including Compostela, and the cathedrals of Chartres, Amiens and Paris. This sequence of Christian(ised) holy places may be familiar to listmembers who recall the debate about the 'Milky Way' pilgrimage route, to which Wallace-Murphy also refers. This volume is not a guide to the mysteries of Rosslyn. Rather, it takes up the themes of Wallace-Murphy's known interests and previous publications, and it is aimed at those who already know and appreciate his work. With his partner, Marilyn Hopkins, whose talents in the field of dowsing are repeatedly called upon in the argument of the book, Wallace-Murphy has undertaken a pilgrimage along the 'Apocalyptic Configuration', and this publication is the result of that journey, rather than specifically a guide to the mysteries of Rosslyn. To place his pilgrimage in context, Wallace-Murphy gives a lengthy introduction, occupying the first nine chapters (out of fourteen) of the book, on the subject of the Western mystical tradition, and (in the author's opinion) its derailment by the Roman Catholic Church. While there is information in these chapters which might not be known to the reader, particularly that regarding the relationship of the various sites of the 'Apocalyptic Configuration' to each other, one feels one has come across much of this argument elsewhere; also, this reviewer was puzzled by certain elements of it. To give a couple of examples, one of the problems the Catholic church has had over the years, according to this volume, concerns the devaluation of women; yet the tradition to which Rosslyn Chapel is consigned, also in this volume, is that of Templarism and Freemasonry, which, at least at the time of their respective foundations, had no particular interest in the promotion of the status and rights of women; indeed, women were admitted to neither body. Also, Wallace-Murphy appears to believe in the morally dubious and repressive nature of the Roman Catholic Church in the first five or six centuries of the Common Era, while maintaining respect and reverence for the greater spirituality of the Eastern Orthodox tradition. This view appears to set aside the historical fact that the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches did not actually separate until the middle of the eleventh century CE., after the sack of Constantinople by western Crusaders, and the 'filioque' controversy, which was (at least in part) contrived by ecclesiastical spin-doctors anxious for a genuine theological reason for the schism. Such elements of the book puzzle me, as does the restriction of its bibliography almost entirely to secondary sources, such as I. Hill Elder's 'British Israel' publication of the 1920s (reprinted 1973) 'Celt, Druid and Culdee', along with HBHG, 'The Templar Revelation', and the like. Indeed, the reader is almost certain to find something to argue with here, if she or he does not agree that the Cathars were the 'church of Amor rather than

Sion, a novel by Philip Boast. Headline, UK, 1999. Hardback, 17.99 UKP This is the first work of fiction that I have reviewed for the list, and it's quite a ride. 'Sion' is an overtly PoS and Bloodline oriented novel, which places it in a category of its own. In the past, certain writers, notably Michele Roberts ('The Wild Girl') and Jose Saramago ('The Gospel According to Jesus Christ') have published novels featuring the sexual relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene; indeed, Roberts's book, which culminates in the escape of the pregnant Mary M. to the South of France, is probably the first post HBHG novel, published as it was in 1984, just two years after BLL's effort. But no previous novelist, to my knowledge, has attempted to incorporate quite so much of the HBHG mythos, nor to place the story so definitively in the context of contemporary, though somewhat left-field, New Testament study. Philip Boast can, IMO, claim not only a first, but a qualified success. This work is exceedingly ambitious. Not only has the writer saddled himself with all the complexities of NT and other first-century literature (the Gospel of Thomas is obviously a source), but he's created further difficulties for himself by employing an absolutely fascinating, but extremely complicated, narrative structure. The story of this book is told by a succession of discarnate entities: by the spirits who are born as, variously, Mary Magdalene herself, her granddaughter, and later descendants; and Jude, son of Jesus and Mary, and his many bodily heirs around the world. They watch their own stories from outside the world of time and space, and comment upon their own life histories; they dive into and out of incarnation, pausing only to wonder what on earth they are doing, going back to all this stuff ('Life. I remember now. I hate it,' as the Mary Magdalene entity says at one point.). Each has, at the same time, the perfect knowledge of the discarnate, and the limited point of view of the time-bound human. As a feat of imagination, this is remarkable; as a reflection of some of the more new-age variations upon the HBHG story, it's as faithful as one might expect. Jude, son of Jesus, has perhaps the most interesting tale to tell, in the context of contemporary speculation. He's informed of his heritage by his mother Mary only as she lies dying, in response to his persistent questioning; so he is Percival, the youth brought up in ignorance of his inheritance; he is the Holy Fool, the Widow's Son. He is also, as it turns out, the Germanic Grail Knight Perlesvaus, who is, unlike his chaste French counterparts, a husband and father, both the scion and the progenitor of a kingly line. Hearing both who he is, and the contradictions of the message of the early Christian missionaries in the land, Jude investigates his own origins, and comes into contact both with Peter and Paul, and with Jesus's own brother James, who is depicted as an obsessional madman, consumed with the desire to locate the burial place of the Ark of the Covenant. None of these contacts give Jude much hope for the future, though they do enable the writer to establish a background for the alleged pact between the Bloodline and the Church, later betrayed with the murder of Dagobert II. Jude is holy and untouchable, as the Son of the Lord, but he is also an outcast, anathema, for the same reason, and so Peter and Paul can neither support him, nor stop him; instead, the parties must reach an agreement by which they can continue both to exist, and to disagree. James is another matter. So possessed by his own status as leader of the Jerusalem church (here, Mary M. was forced to flee from Palestine before her one and only pregnancy was known, so Jesus's son and heir is a long way from Jerusalem even before his birth) that even death cannot stop him, James meets Jude on the site of the destroyed Jerusalem Temple, in CE 74. Jude has discovered the hiding-place of the Ark, yet, perceiving that this is a thing which will drive men mad, he causes a landslide to descend and cover the entrance to the hiding-place, until someone shall come along and excavate the area (the Templars are strongly implied). James has been killed, martyred on the steps of the Temple as Christian legend has it, and, in mockery of his brother's return from the grave, he has risen not as a recognisable human being with wounds that can be investigated, but as a rotting undead. Meeting him in the Temple grounds, Jude rejects him and

The reviewer is a regular on this newsgroup. JoAnn Review of Genesis of the Grail Kings. A book by Laurence Gardener Review by ADR This week the author of the international bestseller, Blood line of the Holy Grail, released his latest book, Genesis of the Grail Kings. Gardener follows up on his previous work, attempting to trace the 'saang real' or noble bloodline of Jesus and King David, even further back. So far back in fact, that he even concludes the book with a family tree tracing the bloodlines back through the Israelites, Unified Monarchy (David and Solomon), the 18th Dynasty/New Kingdom of Egypt and then further back up the Israelite line all the way to Adam and then to the gods themselves! This is where Gardener's work completely falls apart. Apparently, and I might even say tragically, Laurence Gardener is the Jacobite Historiographer Royal, an internationally known sovereign and chivalric genealogist, Chevalier Labhran de St Germain, President Attache to the European Council of Princes and formally attached to the Noble Household Guard of the Royal House of Stewart, and is the Chancellor of the Imperial and Royal Court of the Dragon Sovereignty which embodies the Knights Templar of St Anthony. But all these titles can't stop his work from lacking in true history, incorrect Egyptian genealogies borrowed from Ahmed Osman's incredibly erroneous works and a complete misunderstanding of biblical theology and ancient mythology. He uses Sitchin's works and thus falls into the trap of thinking the gods such Anu, Ea, Ellil and so on, to be real people. I mostly specialise in Indology and Indo-European history, and because of the contact the Mitanni, an Indo-Aryan ruling class, made with the Egyptians during the New Kingdom, I have also had to study the 18th Dynasty in considerable detail. There is no doubt that that era had a considerable influence of some of the religious movements that occured after it, but researchers such as Ahmed Osman, blow the whole of dynasties personalities out of proportion and even insult their memories by using them to back up Biblical and Quranic stories. Yes, Tuthmosis IV is most probably the real character upon which King David is based, and so is Amonhotep III for Solomon, but after that you can hardly find a single thing to link Akhenaten with Moses, or Smenkhare with Aaron, or, can you believe this one, Tutankhamun with Jesus. There's very little to nothing in parallel between their lives. Gardener makes an Osman of himself, he might be a genealogist, but he is not an archaeologist nor a very well educated historian. An example of the errors he makes regarding the New Kingdom and the Mitanni (who he says decend from Hamites and ruled a large portion of Palestine, total nonsense!) is the genealogies of the families. A quick look at the family tree shows that he makes Nefertiti the daughter of Sitamun, if that were so then Nefetiti would only have been a few years old when Akhenaten married her, but thats not the case. It has been proven by Joyce Tyldesley and accepted by all Egyptologists, that Nefertiti is the daughter of Aye and Tey. Yet another mistake is making Kiya, a secondary wife of Akhenaten, a daughter of Gilukhepa (a Mitanni wife of Amonhotep III). Kiya is actually Tadhukhepa and was the daughter of Tushratta and the niece of Gilukhepa. He borrows from Osmans work in stating that Yuya is the biblical Joseph/Yusef. Maybe there is some borrowing by the writers of Genesis, but Joseph was a minister to the Pharaoh placed in charge of all of Egypt, Yuya was a priest but his job was in the army where he was also in charge of all the horse trainers and horses. He also makes Smenkhare into Aaron, simply by changing his name to Smenkhare-on. A deliberate forgery, the same way Osman tried to say that Nefertiti was also called Meri-Amun, therefore she had to be Miriam. She did not have this name, it was General Horemheb who had the name Mery-Amun. Did he give birth to Jesus by immaculate conception? Are the Essenes named after Esa/Yeshua? No. And enough of this history twisting. The most upto date and accurate genealogy of the period as compiled myself and the works of Joyce Tyldesley show itself like this: Egyptian Geneaology: Artatama I (of Mitanni). Father of Mutemwia, wife of Tuthmosis IV. Mutemwia, sister of Yuya and mother of Amonhotep III. Yuya, son of Artatama, husband of Thuyu and father of Ay, Anen and Tiy. Tiy, wife of Amonhotep III, sister of Aye and Anen(who dies early)
[CTRL] Opening the Tomb of Jesus
-Caveat Lector- A HREF="http://www.sightings.com/ufo2/jesus.htm"SIGHTINGS/A - SIGHTINGS Opening the Tomb of Jesus By David Yount © 1999 Scripps Howard News Service 2-16-99 The opening of Jesus' tomb in Jerusalem may be imminent, and if Christendom is not enthralled by the prospect, it is little wonder. The whole point of the Christian faith is that the tomb is empty. As the angel announced, "He is not here; he has risen." Still, there is expectancy that the tomb will reveal artwork or other signs of veneration by the earliest believers in Christ's resurrection. No one has laid eyes on the tomb for nearly two centuries, and the dawn of the third Christian millennium seems to be a fitting time to rediscover the site. The tomb is believed to rest within an edicule (or "little house") within Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The surrounding shrine is an ornate 19th century construction in danger of collapse. It was damaged by fire in 1808 and further weakened by an earthquake in 1927, after which a makeshift framework of steel girders was erected to prop it up. The reason the grave has gone so long unopened is because competing church authorities with rights over the sepulcher have seldom agreed on anything. But they did authorize a new dome in 1996 and now plan extensive internal renovations. Martin Biddle, a 62-year-old Oxford professor of medieval archaeology, predicts the next step will be to bring down and rebuild the edicule, exposing the tomb. Biddle and his wife have spent a decade surveying the site, using ancient sources and modern photogrammetry. They are convinced that beneath four internal coverings is the burial place excavated by the Emperor Constantine in 325. "Originally the tomb was burrowed into a rocky hill slope," Biddle recently told Stuart Wavell of the Sunday Times of London. "Constantine cut away all the rock except a plug containing the rock-cut tomb. It was that plug which he embellished with marble decoration, and the remains of which are inside the edicule." Constantine's shrine survived for 600 years before its destruction in 1009. Since then, there have been three further constructions enclosing the tomb. "Once the outer skin is off," Biddle predicts, "I think that will leave a kind of jagged tooth, which will be the wreck of the previous edicule. Then, poking out of that will be the remains of the original rock-cut tomb, about five feet high. It will probably include a shelf sticking out from a rock wall." The tomb appears to have been accessible to believers for a century following the crucifixion, until Hadrian had it covered with rubble to erect a pagan temple in 135. Then, about 30 years before Constantine's excavation, the scholar Eusebius located Golgotha, the place of Jesus' crucifixion, leading the emperor's engineers to discover the gravesite. Biddle does not believe the tomb will tell us anything we do not already know about Jesus. "I believe Jesus was a historical figure who is very well-evidenced," he says. "Not many people have four different, almost contemporary biographies that survive." David Yount's latest book is ''Spiritual Simplicity'' (Simon Schuster). Taken from web site at: http://www2.startribune.com/stOnLine/cgi-bin/article?thisStory=70850512 To be published Sunday, April 11, 1999 Yugoslav official says bombings have killed 300 civilians New York Times BELGRADE, YUGOSLAVIA -- Serious talks are underway to create an interim government for Kosovo, a senior Yugoslav official said Saturday. He also said that more than 300 civilians have been killed and nearly 3,000 wounded in the NATO bombings. Those are the most concrete figures for civilian casualties to emerge since the airstrikes began, but they cannot be independently confirmed. There has been virtually no information about Yugoslav military casualties, which are considered a state secret. The official also said that moderate ethnic Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova is continuing talks with top Yugoslav officials on an interim political solution. The official said Rugova met Friday in Pristina with two deputy prime ministers, Nikola Sainovic and Ratko Markovic. The official, Nebojsa Vujovic, was the top-ranking Yugoslav diplomat in Washington and lived there for nine years before the war began and Belgrade broke relations with the United States and several other NATO countries. He has just been appointed spokesman for the Yugoslav Foreign Ministry. Despite "NATO propaganda and lies" that Rugova is being held against his will and forced into discussions, Vujovic said, "Dr. Rugova is not a hostage -- he#39;s a free man who feels the heartbeat of his people. "His talks with us pull the rug out from under the aggressors," Vujovic said, referring to NATO. President Clinton and other NATO leaders say the bombing will go on until the Serbs agree to provide Kosovo with a full measure of autonomy under the protection of an international security force. Before the bombing began, Belgrade rejected the idea of 28,000 NATO-led troops policing a peace plan in Kosovo. The talks concern "an interim government with joint institutions of self-government representing all ethnic groups and covering all branches of the local Serbian government," including the police, Vujovic said. The concept of an interim government with representation by Serbs and Albanians has been agreed upon, based on a framework for autonomy, he said, without adding details. But he said the framework was not specifically based on "the Rambouillet process," referring to negotiations in France earlier this year that produced a Western draft plan for far-reaching Kosovar autonomy. The plan was accepted by the ethnic Albanian delegation, including Rugova, but rejected by the Serbian delegation. "Rambouillet was just a grand masquerade, not a real process of negotiation," Vujovic said. "Dr. Rugova was there but was just pushed aside, even though he had been earlier received at the White House and the State Department at the highest level, and the French gave him a medal. But the U.S. found a new alliance with the Kosovo Liberation Army, and Rugova#39;s aware of that and aware of what that situation has brought the ordinary Albanians of Kosovo." Asked whether a correspondent could interview Rugova, Vujovic said, "That time may come," but he insisted that Yugoslav authorities had concerns for Rugova#39;s safety. © Copyright 1999 Star Tribune. -Caveat Lector- from alt.conspiracy - As always, Caveat Lector. A small fight broke out as Sanders attorney told Judge Seybert that they planned to call Sanders previous attorney as a witness for the defense. The prosecution objected, but Sanders attorney won that argument. Sanders previous attorney will appear in court on Monday morning. Its possible that the jury will get the case for their deliberations sometime on Tuesday. Ive been closely following the prosecutions argument that Terrell Stacey was somehow forced to supply the residue laden fabric samples to James Sanders. The reason the prosecution has to prove that Sanders forced Terrell Stacey to furnish the fabric samples to Sanders is Sanders First Amendment rights as a journalist would not be protected. If the prosecution can not prove that Sanders forced Terrell Stacey to supply the fabric samples to Sanders then the governments case will fail in getting a conviction of the Sanders. From reading about Terrell Stacey, Ive learned that he is a very straight forward, honest man. A man who follows the rules because he understands why there are rules. He strikes me as a person who would be upset if he saw what he perceived as a sloppy and possibly corrupt investigation into an aircrash where 230 lives were lost, with many of the victims being his friends. Terrell Stacey was already upset with the way the NTSB investigation was going before he and James Sanders ever met. You might make the argument that Terrell Stacey would have told someone else about his concerns of how the NTSB investigation was going had he not met James Sanders. While reading a government affidavit concerning the Sanders, I found it interesting that Terrell Stacey gave some reports to James Sanders describing the location of the TWA Flight 800 wreckage as it was found on the ocean floor. This has since come to be known as the TAGS database. This was before Terrell Stacey obtained and mailed some red residue laden fabric samples to James Sanders at his home in Virginia. This action by Terrell Stacey shows me that he knew what he was doing when he furnished the first confidential materials to James Sanders. Terrell Stacey was not in any way forced to provide the confidential materials to James Sanders. This is a perfect example of how a source, Terrell Stacey, conveys confidential documents to a journalist, James Sanders. If the journalist asks the source to provide proof of alleged wrong doing by the government to the journalist, it is not a conspiracy to steal by the journalist. James Sanders examined the TAGS database closely and after constructing a special chart which was constructed using the information present on the TAGS database, he saw some debris patterns that made him sit up and take notice. James Sanders told Terrell Stacey about his findings and that he thought that something had passed through the passenger cabin in a right to left direction (almost inline with the leading edge of the wings). Terrell Stacey told James Sanders about the seats in rows 17 through 19 with the red residue on the seat fabric, they (the seats) were right where James Sanders had indicated when he was describing the fuselage damage to Terrell Stacey. At this point James Sanders asked Terrell Stacey if he could provide a sample of the fabric with the red residue so he could have some tests run on the fabric sample to see if it bore out his hunch that the red residue might prove to be from rocket motor exhaust. Terrell Stacey on his own volition obtained some fabric samples from the Calverton hangar complex and mailed the samples to the home of James Sanders. I dont understand how Terrell Stacey was forced by James and Elizabeth Sanders into obtaining the seat fabric samples. While looking at the court documents which describe the charges made by the government against Terrell Stacey and the Sanders, I was puzzled as to why the charges were different for Terrell Stacey, when compared to the charges for the Sanders. The following are the charges as found on the governments affidavit. UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT EASTERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK --x UNITED STATES OF AMERICA -against- TERRELL STACEY Defendant. --x THE UNITED STATES ATTORNEY CHARGES: In or about January 1997, within the Eastern District of New York, the defendant TERRELL STACEY did knowingly and intentionally

Published in Washington, D.C.. . . . Vol. 15, No. 15 -- April 26, 1999 . . . . www.insightmag.com Has Psychiatry Gone Psycho? By Kelly Patricia O'Meara A pop-psychology theory, parental alienation syndrome, is being used in custody cases to defend fathers accused of incest by blaming mothers for being narrow-minded. Picture: Six-year-old Eric Hashimoto described to Merced, Calif., detectives and child protective services how he was forced to perform oral sex on his father and the abuse he endured if he refused. In Sacramento the sexual-assault team believed Eric's claims, thoroughly supported by horrifying details. But despite overwhelming evidence presented to the court that both Eric and his mother, Michelle, were victims of physical and sexual brutality, sole custody was awarded to the father in this 1996 case. Michelle has been allowed just one four-hour visit since. . . . . Irene Jensen of Salt Lake County, Utah, also can document a long history of physical and sexual abuse by her ex-husband. He is listed in Utah's Child Abuse/Neglect database, and nine experts, including 6-year-old daughter Brittany's pediatrician, provided testimony to the court supporting the abuse accusations. But Jensen's ex-husband was awarded sole custody of Brittany in 1995, and Jensen is allowed just one eight-hour visit each month and prohibited from making any other contact with her daughter. . . . . Karen Anderson's daughters, ages 4 and 7, told her and child protective services that they had been molested by their father. The Amador County, Calif., sheriff's department provided a statement supporting the accusations. But during the custody hearing, Anderson was barred from testifying or presenting evidence and witnesses. Her ex-husband was awarded sole custody of the children, and she is allowed only court-monitored three-hour visits twice a week. . . . . The bizarre outcomes of such cases -- in which child custody can be awarded to a sex abuser -- is the result of court acceptance of an unscientific psychological fad. This theory, referred to as parental alienation syndrome, or PAS, holds that one spouse, usually the mother, is at fault for accusations of sexual abuse that may arise during a custody case. A mother's objections to the behavior, according to PAS, has the indescribable effect of turning the child against the father. Therefore, the mother's influence over the child should be halted. . . . . According to the developer of the theory, Richard A. Gardner, a clinical professor of child psychiatry, PAS is "a disorder of children, arising almost exclusively in child-custody disputes, in which one parent (usually the mother) programs the child to hate the other parent (usually the father)." . . . . If a child demonstrates negative feelings toward the father, Gardner's PAS puts the blame on the mother and explains that the confusion is best remedied by increasing the child's time with the father. . . . . Although PAS is not exclusive to mothers, they are said to make up the majority of the so-called offenders, especially when there are accusations of sexual abuse. The syndrome has been a focus of pop-psychology attention for more than 10 years but, as is typical of such fads in the mental-health fraternity, no statistics about the number of parents who have been "diagnosed" with PAS are available. . . . . Critics of Gardner's PAS charge that because the theory is not based on systematic research or testing it should not be called a syndrome, but that charge makes little difference to true believers. Gardner developed his theory through personal observations of families during child-custody disputes. And it doesn't matter to advocates that PAS has not been recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Psychiatric Association. Nor does it matter that many of Gardner's peers who have reviewed his theory openly say that it lacks scientific reliability and validity. . . . . "PAS is not research-based, and it has done a great injustice to the family and the justice system," says Jon Conte, a psychologist at the University of Washington. He adds, "The criteria that Dr. Gardner has developed are virtually useless. He operates on the premise that if you say a lie often

Andrew Austin Monday, April 5, 1999 Bombs are falling on Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia. NATO has turned up the heat on Slobodan Milosevic. In truth, NATO is attacking the people of Belgrade. The West is disregarding human lives by targeting a heavily populated area and degrading the infrastructure of a major city. The immediate effects are catastrophic for Yugoslavians. The long-term effect may be the destruction of their country. In belligerent tones, President Clinton is telling the world that the Yugoslav President Milosevic will pay "a very high price" for his actions in Kosovo, actions being characterized by the Western media as "genocide." Propagandists have cast Milosevic as the third coming of Hitler. (Saddam Hussein was the second coming.) As in the Gulf War and with Saddam Hussein, the United States has personalized the Balkan conflict. As with the Iraqi people, receding into the background are the people of Yugoslavia. Well, that is not exactly true. The ethnic Albanians who live in the Kosovo region of Yugoslavia are receiving plenty of attention in the Western media. And for good reason. Since NATO launched its air war over Yugoslavia, some 300,000 ethnic Albanians have fled the province of Kosovo, according to reports by Western authorities. Two hundred thousand are on their way to the border. Western and Albanian sources report that Serbian paramilitary units have been moving from town to town, forcing ethnic Albanians out of their homes, herding them onto trains and trucks, or forcing them to march to the borders of Albania and Macedonia. These sources report the killing of Kosovar men by Serbian death squads. The images being shown on the television of trains and trucks bloated with women and children are striking. The scene is eerily reminiscent of a tragedy occurring some fifty years ago, when men and older boys, separated from wives and children, were marched off to concentration camps or to die over mass graves. Officials in the West are predicting that if the present rate of expulsion continues the Kosovo region could be "cleansed" of ethnic Albanians within 10-20 days. Tragedy compounds tragedy in Yugoslavia. What happened? President Clinton told the people of the United States and the world that NATO intervention in Yugoslavia was necessary to prevent the outflow of ethnic Albanians from the Kosovo territory into countries to the South of Yugoslavia. The United States and NATO had to act immediately, we were told, to prevent the conflict from bursting the seams of Yugoslavia. Clinton warned of an immanent chain reaction, of falling dominos leading inexorably to World War Three. After all, the US leader told us, this is where two world wars began. Of course, we were not told that it would be the United States and the West who would topple the first domino. NATO self-fulfilled the prophecy of a wider conflict. The air campaign has immediately spread the civil war beyond the Yugoslav borders. The enlargement of the conflict has occurred not only because the air strikes have triggered the migration of Kosovo Albanians, a consequence Western propagandists have tried to rationalize, but because the West is organizing violence in Yugoslavia. With the inevitable insertion of military forces on the ground, there will be a full-scale war. Although to a Serb in Belgrade, it is already full-scale war. The West has successfully transformed a low-level civil war into an international military campaign and caused an enormous refugee crisis. We are left to wonder whether this was their intention. To answer the question posed by this essay, the

-Caveat Lector- New Order of Barbarians Part I The recollections of Dr. Lawrence Dunegan regarding a lecture he attended on March 20, 1969 at a meeting of the Pittsburgh Pediatric Society. The lecturer at that gathering of pediatricians was a Dr. Richard Day (who died in 1989). At the time Dr. Day was Professor of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York. Previously he had served as Medical Director of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Dr. Dunegan was formerly a student of Dr. Day at the University of Pittsburgh and was well acquainted with him. He describes Dr. Day as an insider of the "Order" and although Dr. Dunegan's memory was somewhat dimmed by the intervening years, he is able to provide enough details of the lecture to enable any enlightened person to discern the real purposes behind the trends of our time... the NEW ORDER OF BARBARIANS IS THERE A POWER, A FORCE OR A GROUP OF MEN ORGANIZING AND REDIRECTING CHANGE? There has been much written, and much said, by some people who have looked at all the changes that have occurred in American society in the past 20 years or so, and who have looked retrospectively to earlier history of the United States, and indeed, of the world, and come to the conclusion that there is a conspiracy of sorts which influences, indeed controls. major historical events, not only in the United States, but around the world. This conspiratorial interpretation of history is based on people making observations from the outside, gathering evidence and coming to the conclusion that from the outside they see a conspiracy. Their evidence and conclusions are based on evidence gathered in retrospect. Period. I want to now describe what I heard from a speaker in 1969 which in several weeks will now be 20 years ago. The speaker did not speak in terms of retrospect, but rather predicting changes that would be brought about in the future. The speaker was not looking from the outside in, thinking that he saw conspiracy, rather, he was on the inside, admitting that, indeed, there was an organized power, force, group of men, who wielded enough influence to determine major events involving countries around the world. And he predicted, or rather expounded on, changes that were planned for the remainder of this century. As you listen, if you can recall the situation, at least in the United States in 1969 and the few years there after, and then recall the kinds of changes which have occurred between then and now, almost 20 years later, I believe you will be impressed with the degree to which the things that were planned to be brought about have already been accomplished. Some of the things that were discussed were not intended to be accomplished yet by 1988. [Note: the year of this recording] but are intended to be accomplished before the end of this century. There is a timetable; and it was during this session that some of the elements of the timetable were brought out. Anyone who recalls early in the days of the Kennedy Presidency .. the Kennedy campaign .. when he spoke of .. progress in the decade of the 60's": that was kind of a cliché in those days - "the decade of the 60's." Well, by 1969 our speaker was talking about the decade of the 70's, the decade of the 80's, and the decade of the 90's. So that .. I think that terminology that we are looking at .. looking at things and expressing things, probably all comes from the same source. Prior to that time I don't remember anybody saying "the decade of the 40's and the decade of the 50's. So I think this overall plan and timetable had taken important shape with more predictability to those who control it, sometime in the late 50's. That's speculation on my part. In any event, the speaker said that his purpose was to tell us about changes which would be brought about in the next 30 years or so...so that an entirely new world-wide system would be in operation before the turn of the century. As he put it, "We plan to enter the 21st Century with a running start." [emphasis supplied] "EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE AND NOBODY CAN STOP US NOW..." He said, as we listened to what he was about to present, he said, "Some of you will think I'm talking about Communism. Well, what I'm talking about is much bigger than Communism!" At that time he indicated that there is much more cooperation between East and West than most people realize. In his introductory remarks he commented that he was free to speak at this time. He would not have been able to say what he was about to say, even a few years earlier. But he was free to speak at this time because now, and I'm quoting here, "everything is in place and nobody can stop us now." That's the end of that quotation. He went on to say that most people don't understand how governments operate and even people in high positions in governments, including our own, don't really understand how and where decisions are made. He went on to say that .. he went on to say that people who really influence
[CTRL] New Order of Barbarians Part II
-Caveat Lector- New Order of Barbarians Part II NO MORE SECURITY Nothing is permanent. Streets would be rerouted, renamed. Areas you had not seen in a while would become unfamiliar. Among other things, this would contribute to older people feeling that it was time to move on, they feel they couldn't even keep up with the changes in areas that were once familiar. Buildings would be allowed to stand empty and deteriorate, and streets would be allowed to deteriorate in certain localities. The purpose of this was to provide the jungle, the depressed atmosphere for the unfit. Somewhere in this same connection he mentioned that buildings and bridges would be made so that they would collapse after a while, there would be more accidents involving airplanes and railroads and automobiles. All of this to contribute to the feeling of insecurity, that nothing was safe. Not too long after this presentation, and I think one or two even before in the area where I live, we had some newly constructed bridge to break; another newly constructed bridge defect discovered before it broke, and I remember reading just scattered incidents around the country where shopping malls would fall in right where they were filled with shoppers, and I remember that one of the shopping malls in our area, the first building I'd ever been in where you could feel this vibration throughout the entire building when there were a lot of people in there, and I remember wondering at that time whether this shopping mall was one of the buildings he was talking about. Talking to construction people and architects about it they would say ' "Oh no, that's good when the building vibrates like that, that means it's flexible not rigid." Well, maybe so, we'll wait and see. Other areas there would be well maintained. Not every part of the city would be slums. CRIME USED TO MANAGE SOCIETY There would be the created slums and other areas well maintained. Those people able to leave the slums for better areas then would learn to better appreciate the importance of human accomplishment. This meant that if they left the jungle and came to civilization, so to speak, they could be proud of their own accomplishments that they made it. There was no related sympathy for those who were left behind in the jungle of drugs and deteriorating neighborhoods. Then a statement that was kind of surprising: We think we can effectively limit crime to the slum areas, so it won't be spread heavily into better areas. I should maybe point out here that these are obviously not word for word quotations after 20 years, but where I say that I am quoting, I am giving the general drift of what was said close to word for word, perhaps not precisely so. But anyhow I remember wondering, how can he be so confident that the criminal element is going to stay where he wants it to stay? But he went on to say that increased security would be needed in the better areas. That would mean more police, better coordinated police efforts. He did not say so, but I wondered at that time about the moves that were afoot to consolidate all the police departments of suburbs around the major cities. I think the John Birch Society was one that was saying "Support your local police, don't let them be consolidated." and I remember wondering if that was one of the things he had in mind about security. It was not explicitly stated. But anyhow he went on to say there would be a whole new industry of residential security systems to develop with alarms and locks and alarms going into the police department so that people could protect their wealth and their well being. Because some of the criminal activity would spill out of the slums into better, more affluent looking areas that looked like they would be worth burglarizing. And again it was stated like it was a redeeming quality: See we're generating all this more crime but look how good we are - we're also generating the means for you to protect yourself against the crime. A sort of repeated thing throughout this presentation was the recognized evil and then the self forgiveness thing, well, see we've given you a way out. CURTAILMENT OF AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL PRE-EMINENCE American industry came under discussion - it was the first that I'd heard the term global interdependence or that notion. The stated plan was that different parts of the world would be assigned different roles of industry and commerce in a unified global system. The continued pre-eminence of the United States and the relative independence and self-sufficiency of the United States would have to be changed. This was one of the several times that he said in order to create a new structure, you first have to tear down the old, and American industry was one example of that. Our system would have to be curtailed in order to give other countries a chance to build their industries, because otherwise they would not be able to compete against the United States. And this was especially true of our heavy

This is Tony Papert. It's Wednesday, April 7, 1999, and with us in the studio is {New Federalist} editor-in-chief Nancy Spannaus. The subject of today's broadcast is ``Things to Come.'' We have wars girdling the globe today. In the Middle East, we've been fighting an undeclared war against Iraq for most of the past nine years. In Africa, there are countless wars -- many wars, the largest probably being a war taking place in the Republic of Congo, where, among other things, the armies of five to six neighboring countries are engaged in an effort either to preserve or overthrow the government of Congo President Kabila. Neighboring Angola is in deepening civil war, as it has been for most of the past decade. In South America, Colombia is at war within its own borders; again, a deepening war which has been going on for years. Now, with the unleashing of a new Balkans war by our sorry Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Vice President Al Gore, we have a new Iraq-style war in the very heart of Europe, neighboring five other European countries. Now, for the characters of these wars -- and this will be a subject throughout our show -- look at this undeclared war against Iraq. As we sit here today, U.S. and British planes are taking off virtually daily, for apparently aimless bombing runs on Iraq, hitting such targets as oil-pumping stations, and other targets of opportunity. More serious for the Iraqis, there has been an embargo on Iraq for the entirety of the past nine years, which has doomed its growing young generation to malnutrition, and doomed a substantial proportion of them to lifelong stunting and mental underdevelopment because of the effects of malnutrition in childhood. And these were people who hadn't yet been born when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, which is supposedly somehow the reason for the whole exercise. Now, we're repeating a similar exercise in the Balkans. This is not war in the classic sense of Clausewitz or the American Revolutionary War, or the American Civil War; it's not war in the sense that the government mobilizes the citizenry on behalf of a clear moral purpose, there is no other resort, every other resort has been cut off, the citizenry mobilizes itself for a great moral effort, for a moral, winnable objective, and goes to war as we did in World War II. These are not that kind of war at all. This is war where there is no definite meaning of victory. They're wars which go on indefinitely. Nobody can say when they're going to end. And they're wars which -- and you'll see this increasingly -- they're wars which involve on the one hand ultra-modern Tomahawk missiles and other kinds of ultra-modern so-called intelligent weaponry, and on the other hand, they involve a rock to the skull, a stick to the back of the head, and not just modern armies fighting, but neighbor against neighbor and brother against brother. So we have the world covered by these kinds of wars, if you could look at it this way from outer space. They're not all small wars, by any means; they're not yet as big as World War II or World War I. But if these wars unite themselves in one general conflagration, it will be a kind of World War III which we've not seen on this planet since the Seventeenth Century -- a war of all against all, with no end. Now, Nancy, you've been studying the British New Dark Ages faction of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century. Is there a plan behind all these wars and warfare? NANCY SPANNAUS: It's quite eerie, Tony, when you go back and you look at the grouping that were the publicists for the British imperialists at the end of the Nineteenth Century, the beginning of the Twentieth Century, and you look particularly at people like in the Fabian Society, people in the Coefficients Club, like H.G. Wells and Bertrand Russell -- Lord Bertrand Russell -- and you see that they had a plan for reorganizing the world that would permit permanent control by their class -- by Bertrand Russell's class. Wells was a commoner. But that would allow them to control, through mind control, through drugs, through culture, the entire power over the universe. And they wrote about it, quite openly. There was a faction around Ruskin in the late Nineteenth Century that openly said we want to go back to a New Dark Age. But these characters ostensibly wanted human progress, and they talked about human

The camels have one jockey sitting on top of them, and a small Pakistani boy tied low on the right hand side, just behind the jockey. The jockey uses the live Pakistani child to create shrill screams so that the camel runs faster. This is accomplished by the jockey lashing the boy with a cane and then when the boy starts to scream like a scared animal, the camel is also scared and runs fast. All this is watched by a disconcerned audience sitting away on a stand, and they are all interested only in the outcome of their camel race. The Pakistani children are bought in Pakistan by "exporters" working for the Arabs at the going rate of Rs. 20,000 per boy, equivalent to U.S. $ 400. They buy any boy aged 6 to 12 years, preferring ordinary boys from poor, neglected, helpless family environments, so that nobody comes to ask about their whereabouts once they have been physically assaulted and killed by their Arab owners. Since this is a business, where money is to be made, the child-traders are from the Balouchi, the Pakhtoon, and the Panjabi communities. The Panjabi community is the dominant money people in Pakistani culture and control all policies and habits. Once a contingent of the children arrives the children are taken to a wash place and washed and given new clothing. Then, they are taken to residences and put to rest in rooms. Later, at night, when they are sleeping, they are visited by hordes of Arabs who choose their quarry for the night, and subject the children to homosexual sex. This on occasion is brought to the attention of the local police but the local police does not think it is anything worth bothering. Nothing actually happens in the territory, and the police does not want to bother with any purpose. The weather is dry and hot, and the mind is careless. Not surprisingly, it is not unusual in Arab society to physically attack or punish a live human being who is poor and helpless. In Pakistani society there is a masochistic need among certain types of people to physically beat children and poor helpless people. The society is so aware of this type of person they immediately shut down in front of any "officer" of the governing class, or any "landowner/landlord" type they encounter, because the ordinary public can be suddenly attacked and injured by a puncher gang that these ruling people keep for the purpose of establishing territorial and subjectorial rule. Arabs quote in no uncertain terms their right to have "slaves" given to them by God, and to have sex with them. If a slave runs away from the "master" he or she is to be hounded, and attacked and killed as soon as found out. In Heaven, these Arabs are promised beautiful looking boys. So, being an attacker-gay is not a crime in their view. In the towns of AL-Khobar and Dammam, young Pakistani girls from poor families were brought in to tutor and teach at a Pakistani Community School. They were given lowest salaries and harassed and molested. The leader of this project is Malik Abbas and his cohort the Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. In Saudi, a white foreigner will make a salary like US $ 5000 per month, but an Asian will get US $ 300 per month for the same job. Before, the salary scale of Pakistanis and Arabs was same, it was lessened considerably for the Pakistanis by the decision of the Pakistani ambassador. Now, virtually all Pakistani workers live in barracks like animals and have to behave like slaves. An Arab or a Pakistani will also say that God made diamonds and rubies and money and gives to those He likes, and the poor He dislikes and so keeps them that way. A God who designed Jupiter, Saturn and the whole wide Universe has no purpose being involved in human monetary system and economic crimes. The economic system is created by groups of human beings who are mostly gangsters. In religious practice, anybody who brought any technical training for cleansing of character is stopped, thus the religion exists only as a dogma and does not offer any education. If you read all the books by the Wahabi sect you will come out believing that there is no God, since towards the end they do not allow anyone any prayer or asking from God for any help as they declare that God does not exist and will show Himself only at the Day of Judgment. The biggest joy in the heart of an Arab is to see someone who spoke truth die in front of him.So, these people sometimes brutally attack a servant maid girl from Pakistan, or far-east Asia, and a horde of them fuck her for days, until they have had their fill and want to create

-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm A HREF="http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm"How the U.S. Got Involved In Vietnam /A --[1]-- "How the U.S. Got Involved In Vietnam" By Jeff Drake PREFACE This article was written by me about two years ago and was, for me, extremely cathartic. I have not had a war nightmare since I wrote it, and I used to get a good one every couple of months or so for the past twenty years. Perhaps it was not so much the writing of the article I found so helpful, as the actual research I did prior to writing it (and I did a lot of research). So much of the "insanity" I experienced during the war now makes a terrible kind of sense. I want to share the knowledge I have found - regarding how the U.S. initially got involved in Vietnam - with other veterans. Maybe someone else will start to understand the incredible contradictions they experienced. Jeff Drake HOW THE U.S. GOT INVOLVED IN VIETNAM Introduction This article tries to answer a special question... how did the US get involved in Vietnam? Though the question is an old one, it should still hold some interest, for the facts behind US involvement in Vietnam paint a very different history than the popular one taught in our schools, or the history of the war which is currently being rewritten to match the public's highly emotional memories of the Kennedy "Camelot" years. You may debate whether someone's intention was one thing or another, but the historical record speaks for itself. The information contained in this article did not come from unreliable sources. Much of it is contained within our government's own prehistory of the war which it fought so hard to keep from the American public - the documents which later became known as the Pentagon Papers. When one delves into the Pentagon Papers it becomes immediately clear why the government wanted them kept secret, for they expose the many lies that our government generated in order to get the American people strongly behind the war effort. Yet, the importance of these documents goes beyond their intrinsic historical value since they establish a precedence of governmental deceit that would be practiced again and again. The media, however, continues to ignore the contents of these documents when discussing Vietnam either in print or on the tube. And herein lies the danger - for history that is hidden or unreported, or ignored because it is unpopular, is destined to be repeated. Just ask the people of Grenada, Nicaragua, Panama, Iraq and Somalia. The Vietnam War, like any other war, was extremely ugly. But unlike other wars, there were many soldiers involved in the fighting who opposed it. There was also a tremendous cross-section of the American public that came to oppose it - not on the grounds that we were going to lose - but on the grounds that it was immoral and just plain wrong. This gathering of people from all walks of life and economic backgrounds together in cities all across the country to oppose immoral governmental foreign policy was, whether you agreed with it or not, a fantastic exercise of real democracy, and may well have been the most blatant exercise of democracy to occur in this century. Later, this type of democratic activity would be referred to by the Trilateral Commission as a "crisis of democracy," and decried by President's Reagan and Bush as the "Vietnam syndrome" - as if public opposition to war and corrupt foreign policy was somehow sick or deranged behavior, to be avoided or somehow "cured". As a soldier who initially supported the war effort full-heartedly and later came to oppose it, I, like many others, couldn't make sense of the military policy I was being ordered to carry out. Many of the troops rebelled against being treated as cannon fodder; others rebelled against the wanton destruction and murder that we were asked to carry out; but none of us soldiers in the field had a real understanding of why we were in Vietnam. We were told that we were there to stop the communist menace. We were also told that we were there because the South Vietnamese asked us to save them from this same communist menace. But what we experienced didn't add up to what we were being told. For twenty years I held the South Vietnamese soldier (ARVN) in contempt because I couldn't understand why so many of the ARVN's I saw obviously had no interest in fighting "their" war - the one they asked us to participate in. What I have learned through my research prior to writing this article has completely altered my perception of the Vietnam war and hence my understanding of this particular issue. Part of my overall misunderstanding was indeed correct. That is, many ARVNs did not want to have anything to do with fighting the Viet Cong. What was incorrect, however, was my belief that the South Vietnamese

-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm A HREF="http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm"How the U.S. Got Involved In Vietnam /A --[2]-- The Geneva Conference As the time for the Geneva conference approached, a CIA propaganda team in Singapore began to disseminate fabricated news items to advance the idea that "the Chinese were giving full-armed support to the Vietminh" and to "identify" the Vietminh "with the world Communist movement." The CIA believed that such stories would strengthen the non-Communist side at the Geneva talks.(34) The Geneva Conference was held from April 26 to July 21, 1954 and officially registered France's defeat by the Vietminh. It was meant as a face-saving method for France to disengage from Vietnam. The conference agreements were designed to open the way for internationally supported accords by which outstanding problems between the contending parties could be peacefully resolved. By now, France was under considerable political pressure back home to get the hell out of Vietnam. The US was not happy with the whole idea of the Geneva conference since it precluded any further military effort to defeat the Vietminh. In fact, while the conference was still in session in June, the US began assembling a paramilitary team inside Vietnam. By August, just days after the close of the conference, the team was in place. This, of course, was strictly contrary to the spirit of the Geneva Conference and the agreements that were made. This team, under the guidance of Colonel Edward Lansdale (whose activities were later enshrined in two semi-fictional works, The Ugly American and The Quite American), carried out a campaign of military and psychological warfare against the Vietminh.(35) Washington was walking a political fence with regard to the Geneva conference. Congressional elections were coming up and everyone knew that Eisenhower had won his election as a Peacemaker in Korea. No one would relish another war so soon after Korea. On the other hand, Washington was determined not to allow Vietnam to go communist. This would have exposed the Republicans to the same charges they leveled against the Democrats in 1952, when the 'loss of China to communism" charge was prominent. So they decided to have it both ways -- appear to go along with the agreements while simultaneously working to undermine them. The US refused to give its full approval to the Geneva agreements, but did issue a "unilateral declaration" in which it agreed to "refrain from the threat or the use of force to disturb" the accords -- a bold-face lie. Washington had additional concerns about a negotiated settlement. As early as 1948, top policy makers were afraid that Vietnamese independence might fan "anti-Western Pan-asiatic tendencies in the region," undermining the "close association between newly-autonomous peoples and powers which have been long responsible [for] their welfare." In Indochina, the responsible authority was France, whose tender care had left the area devastated and starving. Washington also wanted to keep China from exerting any influence "so that the peoples of Indochina will not be hampered in their natural developments by the pressure of an alien people and alien interests," unlike the US and France, of course. The hypocrisy expressed here is quite incredible.(36) That the US had the right to restore the "close association" noted above is somehow taken for granted. It follows then that any problems in the area are going to come from nationalistic aspirations of the Vietnamese, not our own imperialistic tendencies. Thus, again in 1948, the CIA warned Washington that "The gravest danger to the US is that friction engendered by [anti-colonialism and economic nationalism] may drive the so-called colonial bloc into alignment with the USSR." In other words, we must make sure that the traditional "colonial economic interests" of the industrial countries must prevail if "friction" interferes with US global plans. The intent is that Indochina would have to remain under "its traditional subordination," as Melvyn Lefler observes, reviewing a broad scholarly consensus.(37) Another Washington concern was Japan, sometimes referred to as the "superdomino" (John Dower). The old order had to be restored following World War II, and Japan had to be protected from what the State Department called the "concealed aggression" of the Russians, referring to internal political developments that might threaten business rule. Japan had to be deterred from independent foreign and economic policies, from "the suicide of neutralism" (General Omar Bradley) and any accommodation to China. The only hope, according to George Kennan (US Global Planner and referred to as "the father of the Cold War"), lay in restoring for Japan "some sort of Empire toward the South." In effect, the US must provide Japan with its wartime "co-prosperity sphere," now safely within the US-dominated world system, with no fear that US business

-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm A HREF="http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm"How the U.S. Got Involved In Vietnam /A --[3]-- Two Vietnams During the two year break in military action secured by the Geneva Agreements, a separate state was created out of the temporary regroupment zone in the southern half of Vietnam. This transformed the 17th parallel into the political, territorial boundary explicitly forbidden under the terms of the agreements. And as the French withdrew from the South, the American attempts to build up an anti-Communist state were no longer impeded by a colonial intermediary. By early 1955, the US could deal directly with the new Prime Minister, Ngo Dinh Diem, rather than the French.(46) In the struggle for power that began almost immediately in Saigon, the US backed Ngo Dinh Diem -- at first cautiously, but increasingly without limit or qualification. When Diem returned from the United States to be Prime Minister, he was greeted at the airport by non other than... Colonel Edward Lansdale, the CIA's man in South Vietnam who was at the time, head of the Agency's Saigon Military Mission (SMM). Diem was opposed by almost everyone - Bao Dai's followers, the pro-French religious groups, the Buddhists, the remnant nationalist organizations, and of course, the followers of Ho Chi Minh.(47) To help create Diem's government, Lansdale's men offered the Vietnamese peasants in the north, now frightened from all the anti-Communist propaganda Lansdale and his group had disseminated earlier, free transportation to the South in Civil Air Transport (CAT) aircraft (owned by the CIA) and on ships of the US Navy. Nearly a million Vietnamese had been frightened into fleeing to the south.(48) (This was a major disinformation campaign - that worked.) Lieutenant Tom Dooley (won't you come home?), who operated with the US Navy out of Haiphong, helped stimulate the flow of refugees to the south. As a medical doctor, Dooley was a fantastic propagandist whose primary audience seemed to be the US public. He himself wrote three books and numerous articles were also written about him. He concocted tales of the Vietminh disemboweling 1,000 pregnant women, beating a naked priest on the testicles with a bamboo club, and jamming chopsticks into the ears of children to keep them from hearing the word of God (a story repeated at the church I attended as a child in an effort to get donations and create anti-Communist fervor). The purpose of these lies was to get the American public angered and moved to action.(49) Dr. Doo ley's reputation remained spotless until 1979, when his ties to the CIA were uncovered during a Roman Catholic sainthood investigation.(50) But, Dooley's and Lansdale's efforts worked. They convinced thousands of North Vietnamese Catholics to flee to the South, thereby providing Diem with a source of reliable political and military cadres, and in the process also duped the American public into believing that this flight of refugees was a massive condemnation of the Vietminh by the majority of Vietnamese (Note: CIA disinformation campaigns are technically illegal if carried out against the American public). While all of this was happening, the Vietminh were withdrawing to the North according to the Geneva Agreements and Diem went about establishing his control over the areas evacuated by the Vietminh. By spring 1955, the Vietminh had removed all of its army from the South (approximately 100,000 men) and regrouped them to the north of the 17th parallel. The areas abandoned were turned over to the French Union which then passed them off to Diem. Diem encountered little resistance in extending his administration to these areas since the only Vietminh who remained in the south were conducting themselves peacefully while preparing for the elections. Diem had a harder time in the larger southern regions where he came up against the Cao Dai and the Hoa Hoa religious sects. He responded with brutality and crushed those he couldn't bribe out of existence. It was said that "The total amount of American dollars spent on bribes during March and April 1955, by Diem may well have gone beyond $12 million."(51) Diem went on to abolish all other opposition and quickly earned a reputation as a very brutal ruler. To assist Diem, the United States sent 350 additional military men to Saigon in May 1956, an "example of the US ignoring" the Geneva Accords, stated the Pentagon Papers. Shortly afterwards, John Foster Dulles confided to a colleague: "We have a clean base there now, without a taint of colonialism. Dienbienphu was a blessing in disguise."(52) [As our politicians spent their time working up public fervor with anti-Communist rhetoric and lies to back up their paranoia, a number of activities were underway back home. For example, from 1955 to 1959, Michigan State University (MSU), under a US Government contract, conducted a covert police training program for the South Vietnamese. With

[CTRL] Team USA vs. Yugo/Russia in Wrestle-Mania (fwd)
-Caveat Lector- TEAM USA vs. YUGO/RUSSIA IN "WRESTLE-MANIA" === (CNNS, 04/11/99) -- This news service sees a possible link between the late-starting basketball season in the U.S. and the escalating war in Yugoslavia. Sports-starved Americans are being compensated for their winter sports-withdrawal sufferings with an added Spring/Summer athletic contest, called "War." This added Spring/Summer entertainment is being packaged as a sort of Wrestle-Mania. "The NATO assault has been conducted as though we're attacking just one individual, not an entire population... It's the one-man theory of the nation-state. And its effect is to eliminate both the psychological impact of nationalism and the guilt produced by civilian causalities since civilians don't fully exist under this theory," says Barbara Ehrenreich, author of *Blood Rites: Origins and History of the Passions of War*. [1] Besides "Hitler Milosevic," another cartoon character has been added to the Wrestle-Mania scorecard, "The Dread ARKAN." Another colorful wrestler, for now off-stage, is "Beer-Belly Boris (Yeltsin)." (Since his name is Boris, an off-chance is that he can be paired with a lady wrestler named "Natasha." Maybe "Natasha" can fight it out with "Animal Albright.") Ehrenreich's "invisible civilians" are like the fans at a wrestling match, in the dark mostly, but somehow adding to the excitement. These invisible civilians, like all good sports fans, "are all too real and united behind Milosevic like never before," writes Arianna Huffington. [2] In America, though, about half of our invisible civilians, according to polls, have not yet caught the sports fever needed to ensure success for the planned Spring/Summer entertainment. Score one for "Hitler Milosevic," who for the moment occupies the moral high ground due to his body-slam appeal for an Orthodox Easter cease-fire. Sports commentator Nicholas Gage, author of a book describing the Greek civil war, is aghast: "How can [Team USA] not see the opportunity they are missing to show to millions of Orthodox that their spiritual sensibilities are as honored as the Islamic ones were during Ramadan?" [3] Sports commentator Heather Wilson, a New Mexico congress-critter, also gives a point to "Hitler Milosevic": "Thus far, our strategy in the Balkans has failed to achieve our political objectives...(and) it has accelerated the human disaster in the Balkans," she says. [4] So, based on the judgements of Wilson and Gage, the score now stands Yugoslavia 2, Team USA 0. This editor believes, however, that if Bill Clinton were to don a Superman outfit for his next press briefing, Team USA could score a point in the ongoing contest. However, at this point, it looks bad for Team USA. Looming from off-stage, projecting himself into center ring, "Beer-Belly Boris" is flexing his muscles, belching loudly, and intimating his strength. Interviewed at ringside, Boris growled that, "I told NATO, the Americans and the Germans: do not push us into military action, or there will definitely be a European, and possibly a world war." [5] ("NATO" is the mask worn by Team USA.) Adding to the growing excitement are comments from Alexander Solzhenitsyn, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature. Since fewer and fewer read books these days, Solzhenitsyn may be pre-positioning himself for a possible job as sports commentator when he says, "NATO has proclaimed to the whole world: 'Might is right, those who are strong are always right.' NATO proclaimed the ancient law that whoever is strongest is right for all the world to hear. This is the world in which we have to live in from now on." The bearded author, who denies being part of any "tag team," went on to protest the "destruction of a beautiful country in full view of humanity, while civilized governments applaud this." [6] Yet there *is* an emerging "tag team" (though it appears indeed that Solzhenitsyn will more likely serve as sports commentator than as a member of any "tag team.") "Beer-Belly Boris," according to a UPI report, may unite Yugoslavia, Belarus, and Russia into a unified team. "In what could turn out to be a stunning development of the Balkan crisis, the speaker of Russia's State Duma says Russian President Boris Yeltsin is seriously considering a proposal made by Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic to form a full political union among Russia, Belarus and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia." [7]. Such a development would spell trouble for Team USA, since a Russia/Belarus/Yugoslavia (RBY) link-up could field many more wrestlers than now fielded by the lone Yugoslavia. Of course, the new sport's season is young. But preliminary
[CTRL] School Vouchers: The Parent Trap
-Caveat Lector- VOUCHERS: THE PARENT TRAP Who will have the fundamental right of educating children: parents or politicians? By Cathie Adams, president of Texas Eagle Forum Virtually every candidate for political office claims that if we elect him, he will fix public education, and since 92% of our children attend public schools, such political promises appeal to almost everyone. Those political promises have led to a multitude of unproven education fads introduced in public school classrooms, but there is one idea that has yet to overcome political opposition: vouchers, a.k.a. school choice. There are two major sources of opposition for the idea: teachers' unions who are afraid of losing part of their funding and those who hold to free market ideals and oppose government regulations. Voucher supporters claim they would create competition for the public schools and thereby improve them. But columnist Charlie Reese sums it up nicely: "Government schools cannot compete in any sense of the word. They are government schools, creatures of law and politics. Faculty, its pay, and the curricula are determined not by the schools, but by politicians, bureaucrats and, in some cases judges. To state that public schools can compete with private schools is like saying a bronze statue of a horse can compete with a live one." In reality, public funding would destroy private education. Saralee Rhoades outlines why in The Freeman, a newsletter published by The Foundation for Economic Education: Private schools will become dependent on this new source of money and in time unable to exist without it. Private schools electing to safeguard their freedoms, not taking advantage of "free" money, will not be able to compete. When the only schools left are government schools, is there any assurance that the quality of public schooling will not precipitously decline as it has before? The resultant government monopoly will preclude any form of competitive standards. Costs will skyrocket as offices are set up nationwide to monitor the expenditure of government funds, protect students from exploitation, and expand services as further needs arise. Eventually the aim will be the maintenance of the program, not the education of children. Compliance with government policy and maintenance of the status quo will assume greater and greater importance, as more workers become dependent on government-subsidized salaries. The bottom line is that government cannot fix the educational problem because government is the problem. Some insist that voucher legislation can be written to protect private schools. Chester Finn, chief architect of the National Goals (presented in former President Bush's America 2000 plan and President Clinton's Goals 2000) and a voucher advocate refutes the claim. "Some to be sure, like to think they can have it both ways; i.e. can obtain aid without saddling themselves with unacceptable forms of regulation. But most acknowledge the general applicability of the old adage that he who pays the piper calls the tune, and are more or less resigned to amalgamating or choosing between assistance or autonomy." Texas voucher supporters believe that if legislation denies federal funds, then private schools would be free from government strings. In 1995, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 1 and created the Texas Workforce Commission that have brought about systemic reforms required by federal education laws, Goals 2000 and School-to-Work. The Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) is being restructured to come into compliance with the rewrite of Texas' essential elements into performance standards/outcomes called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skillsall an outgrowth of the federal programs. It is logical that if private and public schools are answerable to the same bureaucracies, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas Comptroller, then they will both be controlled by the federal government programs. State regulation is guaranteed. Governor George W. Bush has said, "I believe we ought to try a pilot voucher program that is tied to our accountability system [the TAAS test]." Rather than public schools being forced to compete in an education market place with private schools, the private schools would be forced to conform to the same outcome-based standards and performance-based tests prescribed for every public school by both federal and state governments. Ronald Trowbridge, vice-president for external programs and communications at Hillsdale College in Michigan, wrote in The Wall Street Journal "If government vouchers are extended to private primary and secondary schools, truly private schools in five, 10, 15 or 20 years will become virtually extinct." Courts have broadened government control over private schools that take government funds. The infamous Grove City College vs. Bell case decided that even though the GI bill funds went directly to a student rather than a school, it came under federal regulations.

[CTRL] [15] Mellon's Millions
-Caveat Lector- an excerpt from: Mellon's Millions Harvey O'Conner©1933 Blue Ribbon Books New York, N.Y. --[15]-- 15 The Billionaire ANDREW MELLON'S fortune kept pace with his rising prestige in those luscious Third Decade years which he devoted to public affairs. Business leaders spoke praisefully of the sacrifice he was making in devoting his shrewd mastery of finance to the national benefit, but one tabulation of the corporations in which his family was interested showed an increase in assets from $1,690,000,000 in 1920 to $6,091,000,000 in 1928. Critics said that he had profited from the information available to a Secretary of the Treasury concerning the financial status of his competitors. In but four corporations and four banks, the majority of whose income flowed into the family's pockets, dividends soared from a mere $6,950,000 in 1920 to $24,686,000 eight years later. This did not include those Mellon corporations so closely held that it was unnecessary to reveal their earnings to a curious public, or a score of large companies for which the Mellon banks were financial agents. Assets of four of the family's firms rosebetween the inaugurations of Harding and Hooverfrom $428,000,000 to $952,000,000 These figures did not include Standard Steel Car and McClintic-Marshall whose financial reports were made known only to their few stockholders, and Pittsburgh Coal, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Crucible Steel, in which the family held large blocks of stocks and bonds. Money on deposit in the Mellons' four largest banks advanced in that period from $229,000,000 to $351,000,000. The Pittsburgh bankers indisputably were a billionaire family. Around the solid core of Gulf, Aluminum, Union Trust and Koppers were clustered newer Mellon companies and interests. Definitely Mellon in control were Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates, newly formed $200,000,000 corporation, Brooklyn Union and Brooklyn Borough Gas, Duke-Price Company. Mellon interests became powerful in the $600,000,000 Pullman companies, in $700,000,000 Bethlehem Steel, in $1,250,000,000 United States Electric Power Corporation, in the companies represented by United Light Power, United Light Railways, American Light and Traction, valued at a billion, in the $300,000,000 Westinghouse companies, in the $800,000,000 Niagara Hudson Corporation. Their voices were heard in the $2,000,000,000 Pennsylvania Railroad, in the $140,000,O00 American Rolling Mill Company, and the $375,000,000 Philadelphia Company, which controlled Pittsburgh's public utilities. The Mellon fortune was likened to a snowball which grew automatically merely by obeying the law of gravity. If in one year McClintic-Marshall was sold to Bethlehem Steel, and definitely regarded as outside the Mellon orbit, a few years later it was noised about that the Mellons had become the largest stockholders in Bethlehem and were preparing to take charge of the country's second largest steel corporation. If Standard-Steel Car was sold to the Pullman interests, it was discovered later that the Mellons had become powerful in the sleeping car monopoly. In this they were aided both by the profits inuring to shrewd manipulators of corporate finance, and by the dire distress into which many firms fell during the collapse that marked the end of the jazz Decade. Merely by adroit investments of not too many millions, the Mellons held 30 per cent control of the voting stock of the $575,000,000 United Light Power Company. While such an investment in a holding corporation lacked the solidity of the family's millions in Aluminum and Gulf, nevertheless it added astonishingly to its total wealth. By 1932 it appeared that the Mellons' own stake in various financial and industrial corporations was more than $2,000,000,000. Their own share of the profits of these industrial companies in 1929 was $91,146,168 and even in the depression year of 1930 they could report a tidy slice of $47,909,582. Their share in dividends from industry and banks was accounted at $35,651,527 in 1929, rose to $36,435,999 in 193o, and was still at the respectable figure of $33,683,068 in 1931. Whatever the crisis was doing to the weak, certainly the Mellons found it a ripe period in which to intrench themselves. "Really, I am a poor man," Andrew Mellon once said. But when the lid was tipped on income tax returns in 1924-25, over his most vehement protests, he was shown to be in no danger of applying to the poor board. For the fiscal year 1922-23, he paid $1,173,000 to the Government, indicating a taxable income of $3,000,000 to $4,000,000. In the next fiscal year of open returns, his tax rose sharply to $1,882,000, the levy on $4,000,000 in taxable income. Brother Richard's payments increased suddenly from $348,000 in 1922-23 to $1,180,000 in 1923-24. Nephew William Larimer Mellon's tax was $225,000 for the first year and $I 74,000 a year later. Lumped together, the three returns indicated a taxable income of about $8,000,000 in

-Caveat Lector- an excerpt from: child of Satan, child of God Logos International ©1977 Susan Atkins W/ Bob Slosser Logos International Planview, NJ 07061 ISBN 0-88270-229-7 --[2]-- 13 SLAUGHTER Tex and I had been secretly snorting, or inhaling, Methedrinecrystal speed-for three or four days. In violation of the unspoken family code, we had kept our own private stash and were using it constantly. I had become fond of Tex. He was a tall, string bean, bony Texan with beautiful blue eyes. Suave and at the same time very gentle, he was demonstrably grateful for favors and kindness, unlike many of the men at Spahn's. He was important to life at the ranch because of his mechanical ability. He knew how to maintain machinery and had an uncanny ability to repair just about anything. To Charlie, he was valuable in maintaining our motor vehicles and especially in building and caring for dune buggies. This gave him an independence and high standing among the men at the ranch, especially Charlie. He was also popular with women, but seemed to prefer only one at a time. It is unclear now, but this high standing probably was the reason we felt we could get away with keeping our stash. At any rate, Tex was as sold out to drugs as I was. He had an unusual way, for example, of maximizing the effect when he was tripping out. He would shake his head violently back and forthhis hair whirling and whipping. Then he would hold his head perfectly still while his eyes rolled and a strange, inhuman noise came from his mouth. He would become stoned beyond belief. Tex and I, both stoned, were lounging around the boardwalk on the movie set with seven or eight others on the sweltering night of August 8, 1969. It was Friday night. Charlie walked up and called four of us asideTex, Pat, Linda, and myself. He spoke to each of us, together, yet separately: "Get a change of clothes and your knife and go with Tex. Do whatever he says to do." I knew inside we were going out to kill someone. I hesitated. But Charlie looked at me. "I want you to go." When I returned with my things, Charlie and Tex were talking. I was unable to hear what they were saying. Tex was apparently the only one who knew where we were going. I climbed into the front seat of the old Ford alongside Tex. Linda was the only one with a valid driver's license, but Tex did the driving. We were both stoned, but our senses were keen. We were alert. We knew what we were doing. We didn't know who lived there, but we were going to a house Tex had been in before-formerly the home of Terry Melcher, Doris Day's son. We were going to take all the money we could find and kill everybody there. We were racing out of control. We looked at the fence at 10050 Cielo Drive. With a pair of wire cutters brought from the ranch, Tex had cut the telephone wires leading into the house before we parked the car at the bottom of the hill. Cielo Drive is a narrow street winding up sharply from Benedict Canyon Drive, a major thoroughfare running northwest off Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills out into Bel Air. It is a breathtakingly rugged and luxurious residential area, secluded and quiet. Suddenly that whole section, number 10050, was cut out of the world and lifted up into another existence. We were separated from the whole world. Perhaps for the first time in my life I was deeply aware of evil. I was evil. But the four of us-darkly dressed, I in black jeans and a long-sleeve black shirt, and barefoot-didn't stop. Avoiding the high metal gate, we picked a spot in the fence and climbed over one at a time. As I reached the top, the hot air of the ninety-degree night smothered me. I looked around in a fraction of a second. It was crazy. Some multicolored outside Christmas lights were still up along a wall, and they were lighted. I dropped down into a bed of ivy and fell to my hands and knees. Together we began moving up the hill toward the house, keeping low and quiet. The house was about one hundred feet away. Suddenly headlights flashed across the yard. A car was coming down the driveway. "Get down!" Tex whispered sharply. "Stay here." I flattened myself on the grass and the sour taste of panic rose in my throat. Tex disappeared into the darkness and in a moment I heard his voice. "Halt." Silence. Then a different voice sounded in the night. "Please don't hurt me! I won't say anything." Then came four gunshots in quick succession. Tex returned immediately and motioned us forward. When we reached the car, a white Rambler, I saw a young man (Steve Parent, who had been visiting the caretaker, William Garretson, in the guest house at the rear of the property) slumped in the seat. Tex reached inside the car and turned off the lights. The four of us pushed it back up the driveway to the garage area to the right and rear of the main house. We went to the house and three of us waited at a window next to the front door while Tex disappeared around back. In a few minutes he opened the window

Attorney Jon Paul Rion said he will seek testimony from political and civil rights leaders and people affiliated with the CIA and FBI. He said Gary Webb, author of a newspaper series and book titled Dark Alliance, which claimed CIA complicity in crack cocaine distribution, has agreed to testify. Rion will raise what he calls an "urban entrapment defense" on behalf of Charles Goff Jr. in a sentencing hearing March 19 before Chief U.S. District Judge Walter H. Rice. Rion will try to persuade Rice to depart from federal sentencing guidelines calling for Goff to get a prison sentence of 16 to 19 years. (He faces a mandatory 10 years). Goff was arrested in October 1996; police netted nearly $1 million and 80 pounds of cocaine. Rion concedes that his defense, if it succeeds, will open the floodgates in virtually all crack cocaine sentencings. "That's the intent," he said. Rice, who strongly opposes the sentencing guidelines, declined comment on Rion's unprecedented defense. Rion said he will seek to prove that the "U.S. government, through the CIA and DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), knew of and turned their heads from the importation of 55,000 kilos (about 60 tons) of cocaine" to finance the contras in their covert war against Nicaragua starting in the early 1980s. After Webb raised this claim in his August 1996 series in the San Jose Mercury News, the newspaper reassigned Webb and issued a "clarification" saying parts of the series didn't meet journalistic standards. The series was widely assailed by the government and others in the media. Last October, the CIA released an unclassified version of a secret report. It concluded that "no information has been found to indicate that the CIA as an organization or its employees conspired with, or assisted, contra-related organizations or individuals in drug trafficking to raise funds for the contras or for any other purpose." Rion insists that newly released Information by the U.S. Justice Department and other sources supports Webb's series. Prior to contra importation of cocaine in the early 1980s, Rion said, a kilo of cocaine cost about $100,000, confining its use largely to the "upper class." The price plunged to $10,000 a kilo as the contras, using U.S. government planes and bases, "established a nationwide distribution network among the middle and lower economic classes," Rion said, citing Webb's reporting and other sources. The introduction of cheap crack cocaine in about 1981 gave the contras "a way to distribute large amounts of cocaine to low-income people," he said "All of a sudden, crack cocaine was everywhere in this country," especially in the black community, Rion said. Worse, he said, the contras and their allies introduced large amounts of weapons to the drug trade, creating such violence that the U.S. Senate quickly passed laws calling for much longer sentences for drug offenses involving crack. A drug offense involving 5 grams of crack cocaine carries a mandatory sentence of five years in prison. It takes 100 times that amount of powdered cocaine to trigger the same sentence. Barry McCaffrey, the retired Army general who is President Clinton's drug policy adviser, has noted that while blacks represent only 12 percent of the U.S. population and just 14 percent of the drug users, they make up 33 percent of the drug arrests and 48 percent of those in prison for drug offenses. These statistics have led Rev. Jesse Jackson, U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and others to challenge the sentencing guidelines and rally to Webb's defense. Jackson has asserted Webb's series "challenges the moral authority of our government." Waters, who wrote the foreword to Webb's book, has said the book "brings to light one of the worst official abuses in our nation's history." While stopping short of Webb's contentions, others have raised serious questions about the CIA's behavior. Peter Kornbluh, a senior analyst at the National Security Archive, a nongovernmental, nonprofit institution that maintains a library of declassified documents, noted in an Aug. 30 column published by The Sun of Baltimore: According to the Justice Department,

[CTRL] Truth Is First Casualty Of War (fwd)
-Caveat Lector- TRUTH IS FIRST CASUALTY OF WAR == (CNNS, 04/11/99) -- At the end of the second week of NATO bombing, London's Daily Independent published an article by Philip Hammond, assessing mass media coverage of the war. Major news outlets, he wrote, "have generally been careful to keep the debate within parameters of acceptable discussion, while politicians have stepped up the demonization of the Serbs to try to drown out dissenting voices." [1] This narrowing the range of "acceptable debate" is a technique well analyzed by Noam Chomsky in a book he co-authored, "Manufacturing Consent." "Acceptable debate," in the current Yugoslav context, means "debate" over whether or not NATO -- and especially the U.S. -- should or should not commit ground troops into the region. Excluded by this narrow framework is the question of whether USA/NATO should be involved at all. Examples of excluded or barely-mentioned news, given little or no attention by the corporate mass media: ** Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov says that "NATO may be using a new type of weapon with radioactive components during the bombardment of Yugoslavia. Ivanov says measurements in several parts of Kosovo have shown high levels of radiation in both air and soil near bomb targets." [2] The A-10 "Warthog" jet "carries a GAU-8/A Avenger 30 millimeter seven-barrel cannon capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute." [3] The Warthog cannon fires "30 mm rounds reinforced with depleted uranium, a radioactive weapon." [4] The use of these depleted uranium (DU) shells may be a major cause of the mysterious "Gulf War Syndrome," an illness suffered by many veterans of the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War. "There is solid scientific evidence that the depleted uranium residue left in Iraq is responsible for a large increase in stillbirths, children born with defects, and childhood leukemia and other cancers in the area of southern Iraq near Basra, where most of these shells were fired." [5] According to Sara Flounders, a contributing author of the book, "Metal of Dishonor: Depleted Uranium," "The use of Warthogs with DU shells threatens to make a nuclear wasteland of Kosovo. The Pentagon is laying waste to the very people--along with their children--they claim to be saving..." [6] ** A report in CounterPunch by Alexander Cockburn and Jeffrey St. Clair tells how Amnesty International and other human rights groups have been co-opted by the U.S. State Department into cheering on the NATO bombing raids. Harold Koh, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, reportedly persuaded leaders of the groups that the then-starting NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was a humanitarian action and that if they'd play along, they'd be compensated with a later, personal meeting with Secretary of State Madeline Albright. The entire CounterPunch story is reportedly available at www.counterpunch.com Amnesty International was previously suckered into accepting and promoting the false "Iraq's Incubator Babies" propaganda during the Persian Gulf War. ** "Kosovo refugees are throwing away U.S.-donated humanitarian rations by the thousands and have even burned some to keep warm, complaining that the food is inedible and has made people sick." [7] "We don't eat it because the children get a fever and throw up and are going to be poisoned," said one of the refugees. [8] ** Regarding the Yugoslav tinderbox, former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark warns that "the potential for the conflict to spread to involve Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Greece and Turkey is enormous. It could readily come to involve Slavs and Muslims from other regions in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, fighting in the Balkans and on their own soil." [9] ** Demonstrators in Yugoslavia apologize that, "Sorry, we are still singing." That is a frequently seen sign carried by rock-and-roll Yugoslavians in Belgrade. They gather every day in downtown Belgrade and their morale is high. In a parody of Roberta Flack's hit record, "Killing Me Softly With His Song," a large yellow banner reads, "Killing Me Softly With This Bomb!" 4/11/99 I don't believe this scenario (below) at all. This is all show biz. If the point of this NATO aggression is to break off another piece of Yugoslavia and insert NATO occupation forces into the Balkans, then ground forces are the linchpin of this plan. The differences are over WHEN ground troops will take part and not whether they will. They have been waiting for public opinion to catch up with the propaganda. That has now happened and Clinton is ready to be " convinced " to use ground troops. The CFR/NWO packed Congress will make it easy to send Americans to kill and die for the New World Order. This crazy situation turns the concept of patriotism on its head. The American government is drumming up patriotic feelings in the general population to send Americans abroad to fight a non-American war. The entire operation is illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional. DON'T BE SUCKERED IN BY WHAT LOOKS LIKE PATRIOTISM. They are NOT fighting for America or America's interests. They are NATO. NATO IS NOT AMERICA! NON- Americans are making military decisions for American military personnel and equipment. Have you noticed that you only see Americans as spokesmen for NATO. This makes it look like " America." I'm sure local faces are fronting for each and every NATO country involved in this criminality. There are violent demonstrations in Italy against Aviano. There are anti aggression protests against NATO and the United States all over the world. We have allowed our CFR/NWO government to make America into the GREAT BULLY of the world. We need to take back control of our government. They must not be allowed to hijack our blood and treasure to further their globalist agendas at our expense. Protest the aggressive and illegal war against Yugoslavia. This is not an issue of Left or right. It is patriotic and moral to stop the New World Order from destroying independent countries who wish to be free of the New World Order and that includes many Americans. GET NATO OUT OF YUGOSLAVIA. Joshua2 === -Caveat Lector- Clinton Urged to Plan Ground War Returning Congress Faces Debate Over Future of Policy By Guy Gugliotta and Juliet Eilperin Washington Post Staff Writers Saturday, April 10, 1999; Page A01 A bipartisan delegation of key senators and House members yesterday urged President Clinton to prepare for a possible ground war in Kosovo, underscoring the high stakes facing lawmakers returning from a two-week recess to debate the future of U.S. policy in the Balkans. Goodling (R-Pa.), chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, and chief deputy whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) are seeking support for a bill refusing to fund

(MC) Michel Chossudovsky: Kosovo `Freedom Fighters' Financed by Organized Crime * * * `AFIB Editor's Introduction' _ ANATOMY OF A DISASTER IN THE BALKANS _ Recent history is replete with examples of how US intelligence operations have employed "assets" with links to international narco-trafficking and right-wing death squads in order to achieve policy objectives by "other means." Indeed, the practice is so pervasive that one is fully justified in using the term "narco-fascism" to describe the phenomenon. We are told that the purpose for NATO's "humanitarian intervention" in the Balkans is to halt ethnic cleansing and to secure "self-determination" for Kosovar Albanians. But are Washington's "freedom fighters" _de jure_, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), any more committed to "human rights" and "democracy" than the bankrupt regime of Slobodan Milosevic? Or do NATO actions confirm long-held suspicions that like other CIA "assets" a sizeable proportion of the KLA budget is procured through narco-trafficking and other organized criminal activity such as prostitution and the trafficking in women across borders? To cite one well-known European example of recent vintage to illustrate the point. In Italy during the 1970s, the "strategy of tension" implemented by CIA "assets" within Italian state security services and the military, employed neofascists and condemned war criminals with Mafia links in order to create widespread social chaos, and plant "false flags" which blamed terrorist violence on the left, thus laying the groundwork for "Plan Solo," a program for a fascist-led coup d'etat on the "Greek model" of 1967. One such operative, Stefano Delle Chiaie, the leader of the neofascist terrorist gang, Avanguardia Nazionale, a protege of convicted war criminal, Junio Valerio "Black Prince" Borghese, was forced to flee Italy after the 1980 bombing of the Bologna railway station with great loss of life. With connections to Pinochet's DINA, the neo-Nazi Argentine generals, the CIA and the World Anti-Communist League, Delle Chiaie surfaced in Bolivia at the time of the "cocaine coup" of General Luis Garcia Meza, a close associate of narco-king Roberto Suarez. One of Delle Chiaie's henchmen was a German pimp and neo- nazi, Joachim Fiebelkorn, a key lieutenant of escaped Nazi war criminal (and CIA "asset") Klaus Barbie, the "Butcher of Lyon." When the legally-constituted Bolivian government was overthrown in 1980, Barbie, Fiebelkorn and Delle Chiaie operated an international brigade of killers, torturers and dope dealers controlled by DINA and the Argentine military, the "Fiances of Death." According to Fiebelkorn's account, it was Delle Chiaie who served as a middle man between the Sicilian Mafia and Latin American drug lords. And as history also teaches, it was the Argentine military and drug traffickers (with a "nod and a wink" from the CIA) who helped organize another group of "freedom fighters," the Nicaraguan Contras. Given Gary Webb's fate, is it any wonder that "mainstream" reporters look the other way when allegations of KLA connections to narco-trafficking surface? Pious hand-wringing and cynical calls for NATO to "get the job done" won't solve the inhuman plight faced by Kosovo's refugees. As can be seen daily, their situation grows worse in direct proportion as NATO bombing intensifies. And as Michel Chossudovsky amply illustrates below, it would seem that Washington's "New World Order" allies bear striking resemblance to other well-known "patriotic forces" employed by the US during the Cold War. * * * SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY: The CIA and Drug Trafficking Henrik Kruger, The Great Heroin Coup: Drugs, Intelligence International Fascism, 1980, South End Press, Boston. Now, instead of whether we should be there at all, we are debating whether or not to send ground troops. Speaking of which, they will be going right into the depleted uranium, won't they? Can we ask troops to go into an area just bombed with this stuff? I wouldn't want to go. But then I didn't want it used to begin with. But then what I think doesn't count with the "powers that be." We've been distracted with Monica, all the other stuff while the Chinese steal everything and our attention is diverted aways to something flashy and bright while in the shadows all kinds of things go on, like the Iraqi children dying by the thousands. Are we going to Angola, Mayaysia/Indonesia. Also, isn't our own War Between the States an example of a nation being held together/preserve the union at all cost? [CTRL] CHINA'S THEFT OF NUCLEAR SECRETS
-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.senate.gov/~inhofe/fl031599.html FloorStatement CHINA'S THEFT OF NUCLEAR SECRETS U.S. Senator James M. Inhofe (R - Oklahoma) Senate Floor Statement March 15, 1999 Mr. President, I want you to listen. I am going to tell you a story of espionage, conspiracy, deception and cover-up -- a story with life and death implications for millions of Americans -- a story about national security and a President and an administration that deliberately chose to put national security at risk, while telling the people everything was fine. If it was written in a book, it wouldn't sell, because no one would believe it. If it was fictionalized in a novel, few could conceive it. But it is true. Now for the sake of my statement today, I am stating that the President withheld information and covered up the Chinese theft of our technology. But I'm realistic enough to know that a person with the history of deception this president has will have provided himself with some cover in case he gets caught. So I'm sure there is a paper trail that he can allege. The way the President probably covered himself was to include tidbits about this theft buried in briefings on 40 or 50 others items, so the significance of it would not be noticed. But a paper trail would be established. Anticipating that, I talked to the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Porter Goss, and the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time of the discovery of this information, Sen. Arlen Specter. Neither chairman was notified of the W-88 nuclear warhead technology theft. And these would have been the first to be notified. There can be no doubt that President Clinton engaged in a cover up scheme. Let me read three paragraphs from last week's op-ed article by Michael Kelly in the Washington Post, entitled "Lies About China." "In April 1996, Energy Department officials informed Samuel Berger, then Clinton's deputy national security advisor, that Notra Trulock, the department's chief of intelligence, had uncovered evidence that showed China had learned how to miniaturize nuclear bombs, allowing for smaller, more lethal warheads..." "The Times reports that the House Intelligence Committee asked Trulock for a briefing in July 1998. Trulock asked for permission from Elizabeth Moler, then acting energy secretary. According to Trulock, Moler told him not to brief the committee because the information might be used against Clinton's China policy..." "The White House's secret would have remained secret had it not been for a select investigative committee headed by Republican Christopher Cox..." But even using the President's fictitious paper trail, the earliest either chairman could have known about it would have been late spring of 1997, years after the Clinton administration learned of it and, of course, after the 1996 elections. I start, Mr. President, by listing a few things which we now know to be true, factual, incontrovertible...and not classified. For years, the Clinton administration covered-up China's theft of top secret U.S. nuclear weapons data. They never informed the Congress or American people about what had happened or its significance to our national security. Let me tell you what President Clinton did during this period time: -- During this period of time, the President misled the American people on numerous occasions about the threat posed by strategic nuclear missiles in the post cold war era. -- During this period of time, President Clinton made statements on over 130 separate occasions, such as the following: "For the first time since the dawn of the nuclear age, there is not a single solitary nuclear missile pointed at an American child tonight. Not one. Not a single one." -- During this period of time, he knew that China was targeting up to 18 intercontinental ballistic missiles at American children. -- During this period of time, President Clinton signed export control waivers which allowed his top campaign fundraisers' aerospace company to transfer sensitive U.S. missile guidance technology to China. -- During this period of time, he shifted the prime satellite export responsibility from the State Department to the Commerce Department, making it easier for China and others to get sensitive military-related U.S. technology . -- During this period of time, President Clinton hosted over 100 White House fundraisers as part of a larger aggressive scheme to raise campaign contributions, many from illegal foreign sources, primarily including sources in China. Among guests permitted to attend these White House fundraisers were a convicted felon and a Chinese arms dealer. -- During this period of time, John Huang,

-Caveat Lector- At What Point Does Incompetence Become Treasonous? by D.K. Zimmerman The Political Review @ www.freeper.com April 8, 1999 D.K. Zimmerman At what point does incompetence become treasonous? Just what this administration thinks it is up to is a serious concern at this point. Many speak darkly of conspiracy and even treason, but how could anyone seriously suggest a sitting president is guilty of such crimes or desires? Clinton's earliest presidential acts included shutting down our last nuclear weapon assembly line and our cruise missile contracts. Not much later, Clinton ensured one John Huang had access to classified data for which he was never properly cleared. Huang was allowed to carry this data out of his government office to a private office. From there, he phoned, mailed, and faxed numerous documents to Riaddy and Chinese agents, when he wasn't just dropping over to the Chinese Embassy to spend the night. Sen. John Glenn (D-OH), obfuscated and frustrated Sen. Fred Thompson's (R-TN), investigation into illegal Chinese campaign finance funds. His blatant pay off was one only the White House could guarantee. The Cox report detailing the findings of a House investigation into similar and possibly related security issues remains heavily classified at White House insistence. This White House has repeatedly demonstrated a professional flair for leaking damaging issues late on Friday night, defeating serious interest due to a quirk of the news and commentary deadline cycles. Until very recently, the only leaked Cox material concerned Chinese nuclear espionage at Los Alamos that allegedly didn't even take place during this administration. These leaks only benefited the administration. Various spokesfolks immediately spouted the party line that the administration naturally acted upon these reports immediately. The media rapidly poked gaping holes in these lies. Within this new context, Clinton's decision to kill a grand jury investigation into Loral's transfer of classified data via waiver grew even more worrisome. Milosevic has no demonstrable territorial designs beyond his borders, while Albania clearly does. We are expected to ignore the fact that China was Albania's sole ally for decades before Kosovo when all of a sudden, off we go to war. It is pure coincidence that we allied ourselves with Albanian factions, ignoring their atrocities and massacres of Serbians. Buried by war news is the report that the FBI quite naturally requested a wiretap be approved to investigate the Los Alamos suspect. Since the theft was first suspected, roughly 2,700 wiretaps have been approved by the Justice Department. Exactly one was turned down, the one concerning the most serious loss of nuclear secrets in forty years. Also relegated to back pages are reports that Chinese espionage efforts have heavily compromised several highly classified black projects. Our investigators have discovered that Chinese agents have so thoroughly penetrated them, they use terminology and slang common only to those working on them. Every one of these fiascoes took place since Clinton took office. Combined, they are even more significant than the Los Alamos loss. Recently, Clinton withdrew "launch on warning" prerogatives from subordinate commands. Launch on warning was essential to our Mutually Assured Destruction Doctrine, ensuring a rapid response to inbound missiles, before they begin landing. Regardless of even a significant numerical superiority, who would try a sneak attack, knowing we would launch in retaliation before their missiles arrive? Considered in isolation, it is a reasonable decision to remove this Cold War relic. Since the Soviet collapse, however, the Chinese have acquired intercontinental nukes. We paid the Russians to cut-up their older nuclear missiles. They re-used the warheads in state-of-the-art missiles, even as we unilaterally reduced our warhead inventory. It would take 4 to 5 years to recover our production capability. Yet our warheads will soon begin to fail inspection due
[CTRL] Clinton wants WWIII
-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a36fcea701c60.htm Mia T, 3.27.99 Clinton wants WWIII Clinton wants a war. Clinton is deliberately, incrementally, (if semi-consciously) trying to start a war because he is obsessed with his legacy and has calculated that only a war will save it. Note how clinton constantly, erroneously analogizes to WWII. He is already spinning the historians. This is one sick puppy. Mia T, Legacy Building http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a36fbc7f66e62.htm From Woodward's book, The Choice - p 65 (found by [EMAIL PROTECTED]): ...Clinton held a secret strategy session in the White House with Hillary, Gore, Panetta, Ickes and several cabinet secretaries. clinton asked everybody to keep the discussion private. He said he wanted to recapture winning themes of his 1992 victory, with emphasis on the middle class and traditional party groups such as labor. But it was a mushy meeting, and because some details soon leaked to the media no more such large sessions were held. As Clinton continured his search, he lamented that he could not see a big, clear task before him. Part of him yearned for an obvious call to action or even a crisis. He was looking for that extraordinary challenge which he could define and then rally people to the cause. He wanted to find that galvanizing moment. "I would have preferred being president during World War II" he said one night in January 1995. "I'm a person out of my time." Someone had better invoke the 25th Amendment... before it is too late. It is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Are we disposed to be the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? [CTRL] Clinton's Fascist vision for America
-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.newaus.com.au/usr104fascist.html Clinton's Fascist vision for America - By James Henry - US Report No. 104, 25- 31 January 1999 The state of American education being what it is, the vast majority of people are totally incapable of recognising a fascist economic program, even when it is used to slap them in the face. This is because they have not been taught that fascism means state direction of the economy, cradle to grave 'social security', complete control of education, government intervention in every nook and cranny of the economy -- and the belief that the individual belongs to the state. This was Clinton's State of the Union vision, which is why those chowder-heads who call themselves journalists loved it. People cannot grasp that fascism is socialism because they have not been taught to distinguish between form and substance. They do not realise that once the state controls everyone's property that property now belongs to the state because control is ownership, no matter who possesses the deeds. In this situation, might is right. Clinton's audacious plan to confiscate the earning of Americans so that politicians like himself and Hillary (the couple that helped empty the Madison Guaranty in Arkansas) can use them to gradually socialise the economy is a typical statist tactic and one to be expected from the Clintons. This is no exaggeration. Just reflect for a moment on his proposal to save social security by investing taxpayers' money in the stock market. By controlling a company's shares the state would come to own the company. It would not even have to control a majority of the shares. It would then dictate where the company would invest, in what it would invest and where it would invest. This is precisely how Mussolini and Hitler ran their economies. The term for this is central planning. But America is different, or so the likes of Dan Rather and Gerald Rivero would claim. But does anyone imagine for a moment that the likes of Bill and Hillary would hesitate to use that power? Does anyone think that the huge bureaucratic machinery it would give birth to would not use the power? Also business funding for free-market publications, organisations, foundations and think tanks would quickly dry up. Under his scheme investment would become a function of the state, just as it was in the late Soviet Union. Politicians and bureaucrats playing at being entrepreneurs with trillions of dollars. That such policies have always resulted in the destruction of liberty, economic collapses and mass poverty would not faze the Friends of Bill Club, particularly if they figured they would get slice of the action. One only has to think of what the Clintons did to Arkansas. No wonder Greenspan is still in a state of shock. That Clinton has only contempt for the mass of Americans was made clear by his arrogant statement that "We [I love the Royal We] could give [the surpluses] all back to you and hope you spend it right ... But if you don't spend it right," Social Security are shortfalls are "just 14 years away." Let us dissect this statement. Clinton is literally telling Americans they are too dumb to know how to spend their own money. (I guess his poll results gave him that idea). Americans are losing nearly 50 per cent of their incomes to all levels of government, with Washington grabbing 21 per cent, the highest in the nation's history. And it's going to get worse. And what are the Clinton Democrats' solutions? Massive government intervention combined with massive increases in government spending. No wonder personal savings have collapsed. How dare this lying hypocrite tell the American people they are too dumb to save when his own profligate proposals would see trillions wasted on huge government programs designed to buy a Senate acquittal and shore up the support of the faithful. He claims Americans are irresponsible, yet his programs would consume not only every penny of the surplus but would increase federal spending by at least 20 percent, lead to another era of budget deficits, large-scale government borrowings and massive tax increases. Now politicians have a choice with surpluses: they can either spend them, which then results in more deficits(*) unless spending is cut, or they can return the money to its rightful owners. Democrats have once again shown which kind they are. This is what Adam Smith had to say about Clinton's arrogant proposals: "It is the highest impertinence and presumption ... in Kings and ministers to pretend to watch over the economy of private people ... Let them look well after their own expense, and they may safely trust private people with theirs. If their own extravagance does not ruin the state, that of their subjects never will." "The statesman, who should attempt to

-Caveat Lector- from: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a370caa45367f.htm Away From The Public Eye, Bill Clinton Is A Violent, Profane Man Who Wants To' Kill' His Enemies By DOUG THOMPSON Capital Hill Blue, April 8, 1999 For fair use Away from the public eye and the vaunted White House spin machine, President Bill Clinton is a vulgar, vengeful man who believes in "killing" people try to hurt him, those who know Clinton best say. White House staffers, Clinton confidants and others describe Clinton as "incredibly profane" and "an angry man who wants to inflict as much pain as possible on his enemies." Former White House senior staff member George Stephanopoulos in his book, All Too Human, writes about Clinton's mishandling of the Somalia crisis and shows the depth of the President's violent emotions: "'We're not inflicting pain on these fuckers,' Clinton said, softly at first. 'When people kill us, they should be killed in greater numbers.' Then, with his face reddening, his voice rising, and his fist pounding his thigh, he leaned into Tony [Lake], as if it was his fault. 'I believe in killing people who try to hurt you. And I can't believe we're being pushed around by these two-bit pricks.'" Those who have known Clinton since his days in Arkansas say the quote is "vintage Bill." "Only an idiot would buy the public persona of Bill Clinton," says Walter Erricson, a retired reporter who covered Clinton in his early political days in Arkansas. "He is an incredibly profane individual. He is now and always has been an angry man who wants to inflict as much pain as possible on his enemies." White House staff members say Clinton curses like a sailor, has temper tantrums that cause people to back away from him and uses the word "kill" often to describe what he wants to do with his enemies. "Once, when the House was finishing up its impeachment investigation, the President slammed his fist down on the table and said 'I'd like to kill all of these sons of bitches and just be done with it!' There was a long, painful period of silence until he regained his composure. Then everybody went on like it was never said," says one former White House staffer. Samuel Wilson, a former political worker in Clinton's second campaign for governor, remembers the candidate encountering a critic at a campaign appearance in a small town. After the critic told Clinton he was nothing but a "two-bit politician" and then walked away, Clinton turned to a campaign aide and said "write down the name of that motherfucker. When I'm back in office, he's a dead man." "I remember his look. It was cold," Wilson said. "I don't want to think he wanted to kill him literally, but I'm sure some sort of revenge was inflicted later on." In fact, it was fear of what Attorney General Bill Clinton could do to her business that kept nursing home operator Juanita Broaddrick from reporting Clinton's rape of her 21 years ago in a Little Rock hotel room. "Her fears were justified," says retired reporter Erricson. "Everybody knew Bill Clinton was a man who got even, any way he could." Helen Shannon, who worked in the Arkansas Statehouse during Clinton's second term as governor, said the governor would personally order state contracts canceled when he got angry with people. "The word would come down from the governor's office that somebody was off limits and we would cancel their contracts and put them on a 'don't use' list. It happened a lot," she says. Shannon, who was dating a member of Clinton's staff, says Clinton would order audits of contracts and tell the the Arkansas State Police to "turn up the heat" on somebody he didn't like. "When Bill Clinton ran Arkansas, it was a police state," she says. White House staff members tell similar stories. At one meeting, Clinton told staff members he wanted everyone in the Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr's office audited by the IRS. "Several people in the meeting told the President he shouldn't do that," the staff member remember. "He slammed his fist down on the table and said: 'I can do any Goddamned thing I want. I'm President of the United States. I take care of my friends and I fuck with my enemies. That's the way it is. Anybody who doesn't like it can take a hike." The White House did not return calls for comment. Nice guy...cool under pressure, a wonderful leader who certainly will lead us to victory with the help of our new narco-terrorist allies.
