Subject: [Audyssey] quick Blind Adrenaline update

  Hi all,
Some of you might have caught my previous posts on my plans regarding
using the X Box 360 controllers as well as the We remote in my upcoming
fighting game.
To that end, I've been working with XNA, the new game development platform
from Microsoft along with the programming language C sharp for the past two
weeks.
Overall, I dig it so far. The XNA C sharp combination will allow me to
integrate x box and wii controllers as well as the usual keyboard, joystick
and mouse combination into the upcoming fighting game.
I found a blu tooth device that most best buys sell that will allow the
wii remote to work with a PC, and I've been playing around with it. Looks
like we will be able to actually punch our opponents by punching, and block
by ducking and so forth for those that want to invest in a wii remote. For
those that don't, full force feedback will be incorporated into regular
controllers, as well as keyboard and mouse support.
I have found that I can use a wii fit board as well, which is kind of like
a small balance board we can use to dodge in the game, squat down, jump
back, etc. The possibilities are tremendous, including a possible excersize
software for the blind.
I have created a fairly simple helicopter simulation to test out the new
controls, right now all you can do is fly it around some and land it, and if
you land too hard it crashes, but it has possibility and I may release it
for free for folks to play with if they like once I add a couple little
things, maybe an enemy to shoot at or something.
Anyhow, wanted to keep you guys updated on the progress. These new
possibilities with the controllers, our proprietary online code as well as
new XNA features should make the next generation of games from Blind
Adrenaline a lot of fun to play.
I'll keep you guys updated as progress is made. In the meantime, would
anyone be interested in the helicopter simulation? Suggestions welcome, but
future development will be limited, so I may put in a single enemy AI or
maybe a mission to deliver cargo or something, but I won't have time to do
anything very extravagant with it.
   Later,
  Che

[Audyssey] New Harry Potter mud free mud clients

2009-04-11 Thread Ann

Hi,

I'd like to try and play the new Harry Potter mud talked about on this
list, even though it's been years since I've played muds. Not since my
Dos days, in fact.

Anyhow, can anyone recommend a good and free JFW compatible Mud client?
I can't afford to be buying any new programs now.

Thanks.

 Hi all,
Some of you might have caught my previous posts on my plans regarding
using the X Box 360 controllers as well as the We remote in my upcoming
fighting game.
To that end, I've been working with XNA, the new game development platform
from Microsoft along with the programming language C sharp for the past
two weeks.
Overall, I dig it so far. The XNA C sharp combination will allow me to
integrate x box and wii controllers as well as the usual keyboard,
joystick and mouse combination into the upcoming fighting game.
I found a blu tooth device that most best buys sell that will allow the
wii remote to work with a PC, and I've been playing around with it. Looks
like we will be able to actually punch our opponents by punching, and
block by ducking and so forth for those that want to invest in a wii
remote. For those that don't, full force feedback will be incorporated
into regular controllers, as well as keyboard and mouse support.
I have found that I can use a wii fit board as well, which is kind of
like a small balance board we can use to dodge in the game, squat down,
jump back, etc. The possibilities are tremendous, including a possible
excersize software for the blind.
I have created a fairly simple helicopter simulation to test out the new
controls, right now all you can do is fly it around some and land it, and
if you land too hard it crashes, but it has possibility and I may release
it for free for folks to play with if they like once I add a couple little
things, maybe an enemy to shoot at or something.
Anyhow, wanted to keep you guys updated on the progress. These new
possibilities with the controllers, our proprietary online code as well
as new XNA features should make the next generation of games from Blind
Adrenaline a lot of fun to play.
I'll keep you guys updated as progress is made. In the meantime, would
anyone be interested in the helicopter simulation? Suggestions welcome,
but future development will be limited, so I may put in a single enemy AI
or maybe a mission to deliver cargo or something, but I won't have time to
do anything very extravagant with it.

  Later,
 Che

Re: [Audyssey] battle racing?

2009-04-11 Thread Che
a hand full of testers and I did some tests on battle racing last year
just to get a feel for what I could do with it. The problem we were running
into is that it is simply too complicated to race and manage weapons systems
at the same time. I am considering re visiting the project after the
fighting game gets underway and I have a low latency framework in place. The
new model would have two person race pods, with one person driving while the
other manned the weapons systems, with each person sending communications to
the other as needed. For instance, using your shields takes energy away
from your engines, so you would want to coordinate with your partner before
turning them on, as dragging down engine power at the wrong time could cost
you the race. Likewise, the driver could help keep the weapons operator
informed when they were coming up on an enemy racer so the 50millimeter
chain gun could be locked and loaded.
In the testing, we had the machine gun, mines and shield operating, but it
still needs some work, and doing the two person racers would require a
pretty significant overhaul of the multi player code, but the possibilities
are tremendous overall, which is why I find online gaming so much more
exciting than just playing the computer, and why for the forseeable future,
all of Blind Adrenaline's games will be online capable..

Re: [Audyssey] New Harry Potter mud free mud clients

2009-04-11 Thread Valiant8086
Hi.
Monkey Term, Vip Mud, GMud, Mush Client. You can find links for the first three
options att http://valiant8086.x-sight-interactive.net/games

I recommend Monkey Term, it is an older free and open source client that's
pretty powerful. MTScripts installs on top of Monkey Term and causes new
connect files, also known as xml files, to have automatic speech support from
the get go. It has sound playback support too, can do pretty much anything but
it will probably be suitable for the basics as well. Works with jaws pretty
nicely. Also works with window-eyes and SAPI. The help information on MTScripts
needs a lot of work though. Monkey Term isn't in development any more, but I'm
still updating MTScripts frequently so it still gets new features and such from
time to time. GMud is now pretty difficult to use with jaws because jaws wants
to read the window automatically but does a bad job of it. Mush client is
another good option. Mush client is still being updated but I don't think Mush
Client has had anyone provided an installation for it that talks to jaws from
the get go. It's pretty easy If I'm not mistaken generally what you need to
build a new file in Mush Client that you'll use to connect, you have to write a
trigger and import a script that has commands in it that the trigger you write
makes. With Monkey Term all you do is hit ctrl+n, type in your session name,
tab to your address, tab again tto port. then hit enter, now the save dialogue
comes up and you shift+tab and browse to where you want to save the file,
generally in c:\program files\monkeyterm\files and save it there. After that
you're ready to go.

You could probably try mush client, MonkeyTerm, vipMud, GMud, all of those
until you figure out which one is your favorite. VipMud is shareware, which of
course means it's not free, but it lets you use it for like the first 30 or 60
days or something like that with no ristrictions, then it turns on some
ristrictions and you have to restart it every hour, sort of like jaws's 40
minute demo in that aspect, cept you only have to restart the client, not the
computer. All of the other options are free.

[Audyssey] Is this what everyone has been talking about?

2009-04-11 Thread The Kolesar Brothers
Hi to all, from blind pilot blind astronaut love to be Ron and Leader Dog
Boz.
Have been out to the blind cool tech web page and found the following pod
casts to listen to on the topic of Micro soft flight Simulator for the
blind.
If these are not what everyone has been talking about the last couple of
days for down load last night or sometime over this weekend? Please let me
know when the newer up to date files will be ready to down load.
But while we are waiting for up to date files so that we could access Micro
soft's flight Simulator I suggest that you listen to the following two
files.
Flight Simulator 2
11/3/2007 Scott Shade

takes you through the menus of Flight Simulator 2002, handles some rough
weather, explains FS Navigator, designs a flight plan, and demonstrates the
sounds (in stereo) of three aircraft (crashing two of them in the process.)
75.3 MB
I also found
FS2002 Takeoffs
7/7/2008 Aaron Hoffman
solves the problem of how the blind pilot takes off with Flight Simulater
2002 and FS Navigater. 15.4 MB
So I hope this helps everyone out while we're all waiting for any new up to
date assistance to be able to fly.

Re: [Audyssey] Is this what everyone has been talking about?

2009-04-11 Thread Nick Helms
Those pod casts show how to make a flight plan in fs 2002 and FS
navigator, and they show you the menus and teach you a lot about the
program.
So if you are a beginner in flight sim or do not know what it is at
all, I would give the two that Scott Shade did a listen. Then listen
to Haaron’s on FS 2002 takeoffs. Then wait for ours.
Ours is aimed at flight, both offline and online, as flying itself is
not covered start to finish in the previously mentioned pod casts.
So yes, listen to those! I’d highly recommend it!
I hope that clears things up,
Nick
P.S: do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about
anything flight sim related.

 Hi all,
Some of you might have caught my previous posts on my plans regarding
using the X Box 360 controllers as well as the We remote in my upcoming
fighting game.

  Later,
 Che

I was just able to connect using VIPMud. Maybe they were just down for
reboot or cleanup.

I know this goes without saying, but I have seen a few people make this
mistake before, so I will mention it just in case. grin

Remember to put the port, which in this case is in the port box, which
can be gotten to in VIPMud, by tabbing once after the host field. Like I
said, I know this sounds simple enough, but too often I have seen people put
the host and port in the host field. grin
I don't know your mud client experience at all, so please don't think I am
putting you down by mentioning this. grin

At any rate, hope you are able to connect.

sure if you missed that part. That is the motor sound you want to hear. As for
the throttle sound, you will only hear that when you are picking up speed and
is much softer than the engine sound. Anyway, you can open your .vhc file with
notepad or any text editor to see what you missed out.

  Hi all,

I am trying to make a motorcycle with the sounds of my own bike. I made the 4
files, start, throttle, horn, and the .vhc file along with the recording of the
name of the bike. When I start the game, I get the start sound just like I
want. However, when that finishes playing, I can't hear the motor or throttle
sounds. I think it has to do with the format I used. any ideas?

  Thanks for the help.

Hi Charles,

you want to erace your high scores just go to the high scores menu
option and select reset scores and your previous scores will be no more.

hmm well you could make it a arcade type che, enemies weapons, etc.
I don't have the cash or the room to stick a joystick currently and don't have
the wish to get a remote.
however I do have an old by 10 years or so ffb stick from logitech I got when

I just havn't bothered with the thing.

  Hi all,
Some of you might have caught my previous posts on my plans regarding using
the X Box 360 controllers as well as the We remote in my upcoming fighting
 game.
I found a blu tooth device that most best buys sell that will allow the wii
remote to work with a PC, and I've been playing around with it. Looks like
we will be able to actually punch our opponents by punching, and block by
ducking and so forth for those that want to invest in a wii remote. For
those that don't, full force feedback will be incorporated into regular
controllers, as well as keyboard and mouse support.
I have found that I can use a wii fit board as well, which is kind of like a
small balance board we can use to dodge in the game, squat down, jump back,
etc. The possibilities are tremendous, including a possible excersize
 software for the blind.
I have created a fairly simple helicopter simulation to test out the new
controls, right now all you can do is fly it around some and land it, and if
you land too hard it crashes, but it has possibility and I may release it for
free for folks to play with if they like once I add a couple little things,
maybe an enemy to shoot at or something.
   Later,
  Che

I think it kind of sounds like a flooded room with an odd waterfall thing in
the middle of it. but it definitely doesn't sound like its under water. It'd
be neat if the two could be differentiated between, you could have above
water swimming, and under water swimming, for example swimming through a
completely flooded passage. Given that the temple is built at different
levels there'd be different levels of flooding in different rooms and
coridors. Just a thought.

I know these questions sound dumb, but they are actually important. I need
to know step by step what you did so I can attempt to reproduce the
problem.

Thanks.
