Hi Peter,

I do like the idea, however I have one issue and that is the price tag.
had this been a paid game I would happily have added in a hundred extra
things, but since this is freeware I can only justify spending so much
time on it before I have to consider it done. So even though I do like
your idea and think it'd be quite enjoyable to play the bonus round you
suggested, I can't really do it in this case. Thanks anyway though for
bringing up the thought.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

hey philip and all,
I was thinking of something you could add to kringle crash. when you end
the game successfully santa takes off on his slay. I was thinking of a
bonus round where you are in control of the slay and the elves are trying
to block your takeoff. so basically you have to doge them with the arrows
until santa is able to take off into the air in wich moment the game
ends. and if you crash into one, well, you lose balance and fall into the
snow, losing a bit of your gifts for example.
dodging could be done by having 3 or 5 lains - left, middle and right for
3 and far left, near left, center, near right, and far right for 5 lains,
with elves coming at you from any of these dirrections and to pass them
you have to just switch lains.

what do you think?

I'm quite pleased, for the most part. Keep in mind I've only been able
to play with bots thus far, so my impressions are thus curtailed
somewhat.
I like the bots a lot. They're a little more realistic than only being
able to play with one opponent as in the Kitchensinc game. However,
they seem a bit static. I'd've liked to see them trading or a bit more
actively trying to get monopolies. I do understand that coding a
reasonable trading algorithm might be complicated though.
The longest game I was able to play eventually got into a situation
where only one player had any monopoly at all. It didn't do them very
much good, as everybody else kept landing on tiny properties with low
rents. $16 or so isn't much to someone who has $2000+.
I'd've also liked to see auctions, as while I admit when playing the
board game I've not seen many, I feel they might add some strategic
possibilities.
So that's that. Just my two cents. An overall great job, Ryan.
Best and thanks,
Zack.

 Hello All,
A new version of Three-D Velocity, the combat flight simulator, is now
ready for download. It includes an autoplay mode, force feedback
support, and an audio version of the mission briefing found on the
Three-D Velocity download page. The game supports Windows XP, Vista and
Seven. Please visit http://www.bpcprograms.com/news.htm to read more,
and http://www.bpcprograms.com/programs to download the game. This is a
full install; no upgrade install exists since a lot of stuff has been
updated. Also please COMPLETELY uninstall previous versions of TDV
before instaling the new version--this includes left over settings files
as well once the uninstall is complete. This will ensure that data in
the previous format will not interfere with the new version (old
settings files have been known to cause distortion in some parts of the
 game.)
 Happy flying!

[Audyssey] game idea: harrison ford movie game

2009-12-23 Thread Nicol
HI all
Just now I listened with my friends to a Harrison ford movie where the
mother was arrested an the little boy was alone.
And then eventually the police looked after the child.
Its an American movie.
Its unfortunately a movie with a lot of swaring in it.
Now how about a game where you have to stop the police from arresting the
mother.
You are armed with a flame thrower and you have to blow up the policecar
before they can arrest the mom in the movie. Then you also have to find
some chillies somewhere.
You have to punish the women in the movie who swares.
so your task is , while they are not looking, to throw a lot of chillies or
even tabasco sauce in their food.
If they happen to spot you, well they will kill you with their fists and
there is no chance to fight back.
This can be a 3d game.

[Audyssey] milk and nuts game

2009-12-23 Thread Nicol
HI all
Does anybody remember the old mainstream game milk and nuts?
when I was a child, 20 years ago, I played tv games with the sighted
assistance of my friends.
I do not know who made it.
It was probably nintendo games because mario brothers was also on there.
Here in south africa, when I was a child, they sold these tv game cartridges
containing 60 games or so per cartridge.
Then the game set had to be configured with a tv.
But anyway, this milk and nuts game was the most difficult tv game I was
ever aware of.
It was almost impossible to play.
But now I cannot remember what the object of the game was.
I guess one had to retrieve milk and nuts?
But I do not think there is a more difficult mainstream game than milk and
nuts.
My friends quickly died without even going very far in the game.
It will be nice to hear your experiences.

Subject: [Audyssey] Repetition of the christmas gaming show

Hi all!

Unfordunately, I didn't do the show yesterday.
The problem is simple:
There were no listeners.
I was disappointed, but I think it's also because I informed a bit late.
So here we are again:
Tomorrow, I'll repeat the show at 20 pm central.
Central is just gmt +00.
So if you're living in gmt -7 for example, you just can calculate +7, and
you'll know when the show starts.
In this show, you'll hear some trailers of games, and also christmas
music.

Then you'll have the chance to win an audiogame of your choice.
It mustn't be expenciver than 40 dollars, but as you know, with 40 dollars
you can almost buy every game of the scene.
I don't tell you now how you can win, you'll hear it tomorrow in the show.
Please listen also at
www.blueworldradio.com
There you have to click at this site in English, to view the site in
English.
I don't hope you think at a fake or something like this.
It's serious, and you can be sure that you'll get your price if you win.

Othervise, you could write to all lists that it was just a fake, and that
would be very bad for me.
So, please listen and relax.
By the way, the radio is 24 hours a day online, so you can listen
everytime

you wand.

Best regards and thanks

[Audyssey] nintendo sounds in games

2009-12-23 Thread Nicol
HI there devs and all
A sincere request, actually a plead.
I have a sincere deep longing for games with sounds like the nintendo games.
I think we have a lot of good games with real life sounds.
I think it would be awesome if the future side scrollers and 3d games could
have only tv game sounds.
20 years ago, I listened to my friends playing mario brothers for hours and
I absoluteley love the sound of the character jumping etc.
I sincerely wish we can have suchlike sounds in accessible games.

Re: [Audyssey] New Three-D Velocity Evaluation released; supports force feedback

2009-12-23 Thread Munawar Bijani

Hi,
Sorry about that. XAudio is still a fairly new API and I don't think it's
included as part of the regular Windows Update. In any case you're correct,
if SlimDX fails to install it the DirectX web installer, now linked on the
site, will fix it. In fact I recommend you use the web installer in the
future as well since it will keep you current with DirectX updates.

I had the same problem and I installed that dxweb file From Microsoft
Which

resolved it. I first installed the slim file but that didn't resolve the
xaudio problem so if the first one fails go grab the dxweb setup and run
that and you should be all set.

2009-12-23 Thread Munawar Bijani

Hi,
I failed to put the updated SlimDX installer on the site; that was my fault.
I recommend you use the DirectX web instaler, there's a link for that on the
Utilities page now, and I just put the most recent SlimDX installer as well
so if you redownload it it will install XAudio for you. XNA is still a new
API and hasn't made it in to the common DirectX distribution through Windows
Update, so that's why you need the web installer or the DirectX update
SlimDX gives you.

Hello All,
A new version of Three-D Velocity, the combat flight simulator, is now
ready for download. It includes an autoplay mode, force feedback
support, and an audio version of the mission briefing found on the
Three-D Velocity download page. The game supports Windows XP, Vista and
Seven. Please visit http://www.bpcprograms.com/news.htm to read more,
and http://www.bpcprograms.com/programs to download the game. This is a
full install; no upgrade install exists since a lot of stuff has been
updated. Also please COMPLETELY uninstall previous versions of TDV
before instaling the new version--this includes left over settings files
as well once the uninstall is complete. This will ensure that data in
the previous format will not interfere with the new version (old
settings files have been known to cause distortion in some parts of the
game.)
Happy flying!

Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy

2009-12-23 Thread Jay Pellis

Hi Kelly
Here you go, it's a pdf guide but still pretty readable. Future boy is
excellent, I purchased it back in 2004 and finished it in about 6 hours. It
has an excellent built in hint system. I don't remember where it is but
there is a menu in the game where you can turn off the graphics and have
text only but you still have to use the jaws or other screen reader review
cursor to read the text. There is also a setting to allow the things you
can ask characters about to appear as numbers so you can press the number of
the question you want and press enter.
The music, sound and voice acting really adds to the atmosphere. Just wish
there was a way for a screen reader to auto read the text responses after
pressing enter. I miss those old dos screen readers that just worked. I
think unfortunately if you are using jaws, the newer versions work worse
with reading the future boy options menus than whatever version was out in
2004.

Have fun

Re: [Audyssey] New Three-D Velocity Evaluation released; supports force feedback

2009-12-23 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi All,
Since a number of people seam to have problems with this maybe I should
discuss the relationship between the libraries, and what exactly does
what here. This will help you guys diagnose problems like this in the
future.
Basically, it is this. On Windows the main multimedia system for
handling input, audio, and graphics is DirectX. Over the passed couple
of years or so Microsoft has been upgrading DirectX replacing older
libraries like DirectSound with XAudio and XAudio2. Since it is not
possible for a .NET application to use DirectX directly it is necessary
to install a third-party set of libraries that helps the .NET program
access DirectX. One such interface is called SlimDX. So in order to
access things like XAudio and XAudio2 you will need to have a current
copy of DirectX and a current copy of SlimDX installed in order to play
games like 3D Velocity. Since SlimDX is only the managed interface to
DirectX you still have to make sure the actual DirectX libraries are
installed in order to use them.

Yeah, also if you try looking elsewhere, their are nintendo emulators that

find lot's of videos of games on youtube that you could rip the sound from I

Re: [Audyssey] New Three-D Velocity Evaluation released; supports force feedback

2009-12-23 Thread Munawar Bijani

Hi Tom,
You are correct; .NET programs need a managed interface for DirectX. TDV
self-contains SlimDX though, the main problem I saw was that XAudio itself
was missing. I used to depend on the Assembly libraries for SlimDX, but
later decided to just package it as part of TDV; that way the user doesn't
have to install SlimDX and register it in the framework before TDV will run.
Needless to say, this same problem would have happened with any game whether
.NET or not. In fact because TDV now contains SlimDX I'll probably just take
SlimDX off the site and recommend players upgrade to the latest DirectX.
Lol. It'll save a lot of confusion in the future.

DirectSound with XAudio and XAudio2. Since it is not possible for a .NET
application to use DirectX directly it is necessary to install a
third-party set of libraries that helps the .NET program access DirectX.
One such interface is called SlimDX. So in order to access things like
XAudio and XAudio2 you will need to have a current copy of DirectX and a
current copy of SlimDX installed in order to play games like 3D Velocity.
Since SlimDX is only the managed interface to DirectX you still have to
make sure the actual DirectX libraries are installed in order to use them.

Re: [Audyssey] help with dragonrealms

2009-12-23 Thread William L. Houts

Hi Bryce,

I used to play Dragon Realms. I think it's the best mud there is, but I
found the frustration of using ZMud too much and eventually gave it up. I'm
not sure what to tell you: Dragon Realms scrolls by as fast as any other
mud on the Net. I knhow it's a dumb suggestion, but I suppose you could
slow your voice rate down some. That would give you greater
comprehensibility but of course you would be lagging behind whatever the
mobs are doing. The only really bright thing I can tell you is that the
maker of VIP Mud, the mud client designed especially for blind players, is
considering adding Simutronics support in the next version. You might try
writing to him. He's at GMAGames and can be reached through the contact
form there.

Hi, I was told by a friend that you guys would be able to help me. I'm
currently trying this online text-based game called Dragon Realms. I'm
having trouble with it though, cause I'm totally blind and I need to be
able to read what I'm doing in a battle, but I can't because the messages
from the monsters attacking me go by to fast and I can't keep up. I was
wondering if their was way to make this better for me, I really love the
game, I used to play games like final fantasy 11 and world of warcraft
which weren't all that accessible, and then I discovered this game and
it's much more ccessible except for the minor inconvientses, which why I
come to this list, I need help!!! So, if someone would be willing to help
me I would be verry greatful. Thanks

[Audyssey] possible alternative to Itsyourplane

2009-12-23 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi All,
I don't know how many flight simulator pilots are on this list. I
myself haven't really done much with it in a while, college taking
precedence over fun. Anyhow, it's Christmas break now, and so I've
begun tinkering again.
In the spirit of choice is good, I've been investigating possible
alternatives to Itsyourplane. One program who's developer seems
interested in making accessibility aids for us is called Multicrew
experience. It's geared towards the larger airliners we usually fly and
is roughly comparable to IYP at this point in feature terms. I'll keep
the list posted as to what changes and how this pans out, but for now
this is just a heads up to say this program exists. It's at
www.multicrewxp.com, and has a free trial available.
Enjoy,

Re: [Audyssey] Giftanum?

2009-12-23 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Damien,
Not that this is a big deal to me, but there appears to be a small
conflict of interest regarding Giftenum. It was my understanding that
Shane Davidson obtained the source for Giftenum from XL Studios, and he
asked me a few months back if I'd take over the project and help him
upgrade the game. I mentioned I would, but do to the length of time it
is taking on Raceway and MOTA I've not found much time to do much with
the game as yet.
Now, you are saying you are taking over development. Did Shane or Jason
ask you to take over the game, or was this something you decided to do
yourself. Like I said it is no big deal to me, but I don't want us to
end up writing two different versions of the game, each claiming rights
to it, and then figuring out someone goofed up with the right hand not
knowing what the left hand was doing type of thing.

Thanks.

[Audyssey] Missile Command was Triple J Shooter

2009-12-23 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Jim,
No, the targeting for Missile Command would be completely different from
TJS. Missile Command would be more like Troopenum or Aliens in the
Outback, but more simple than those games. Basically you have enemy
missles falling out of the sky with a laser cannon on the ground you
move left/right to line them up and shoot them down.
Personally, I think we already have way too many of these kinds of games
already. When you consider Troopenum, Aliens in the Outback, Dark
Destroyer, Judgment Day, Enemy Attack, Sonic Invaders, etc the classic
80's style arcade shooter game is getting pretty darn old. If I see any
more games of that type for the blind I'm likely to scream in absolute
frustration.

Cheers!

Youtube has various of these out there, and you just need to know the
correct search terms for it.

Once you find it, you can use either things like DVDVideoSoft's free youtube

there.

This is how I sometimes look for copies of old TV program theme songs.

2009-12-23 Thread Jacob Kruger
Don't remember this specific one, but here's a wikipedia page on it (I think
so anyway):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuts__Milk

My oldest memories of games are things like pengo, where you shove ice
blocks into other animals, donkey kong, elevator action, asteroids, things
like 2d fighting games, and my oldest favourite one is still head over
heels, which is a 3d platform game, but once we got onto PCs, we sort of
moved primarily over to adventure games, and first person shooter games.

HI all
Does anybody remember the old mainstream game milk and nuts?
when I was a child, 20 years ago, I played tv games with the sighted
assistance of my friends.
I do not know who made it.
It was probably nintendo games because mario brothers was also on there.
Here in south africa, when I was a child, they sold these tv game
cartridges

containing 60 games or so per cartridge.
Then the game set had to be configured with a tv.
But anyway, this milk and nuts game was the most difficult tv game I was
ever aware of.
It was almost impossible to play.
But now I cannot remember what the object of the game was.
I guess one had to retrieve milk and nuts?
But I do not think there is a more difficult mainstream game than milk
and

nuts.
My friends quickly died without even going very far in the game.
It will be nice to hear your experiences.

Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy

2009-12-23 Thread Jacob Kruger

Is it a standalone interactive fiction game?

If not, what client software do you make use of?

Winfrotz TTS still doesn't want to work on my XP machine since I reloaded
it, and never really found any other IF client software that worked too well
otherwise.

Hi,
I purchased the text adventure game Future Boy last week, and so far
am enjoying it. However, I think I'm in an unwinnable position, and may
need to restart. Does anyone have, or know where I can find, a walkthrough
for this game? I've tried looking on the IF Archive in their Solutions
folder, but there's nothing there.

  Thanks for your help.

Hi Bryce,

I used to play Dragon Realms. I think it's the best mud there is, but I
found the frustration of using ZMud too much and eventually gave it up.
I'm not sure what to tell you: Dragon Realms scrolls by as fast as any
other mud on the Net. I knhow it's a dumb suggestion, but I suppose you
could slow your voice rate down some.

Thanks

I think it would be cool to see a accessible asteroids game. I also think a

Hi Jim,
No, the targeting for Missile Command would be completely different from
TJS. Missile Command would be more like Troopenum or Aliens in the
Outback, but more simple than those games. Basically you have enemy
missles falling out of the sky with a laser cannon on the ground you move
left/right to line them up and shoot them down.

Cheers!

Hey Bryce,

I think you're something of a wizard yourself. I seem to remember trying to

endlessly repeating the same things as if in a trance. If you're using
