Re: [Audyssey] BGT and Screen Reader API's

2011-01-07 Thread shaun everiss

I still use jaws off and on though after I upgrade hal I won't probably either.
The only thing i use jaws for is the ffproject site and only because
we get percentage beeps.
I may keep jaws round for that reason though if I can have
persentages in hal then thats no problem at all.

Hi Bryan,

So you never play games that use your screen reader and would not
want the Jaws API in BGT right?

We'll have to agree to disagree. I personally can't stand synthetic

Also I need to get some gold so I can buy a bag to keep things in. I'm
finding the fights strange as you don't seem to get any chances to sellect

Re: [Audyssey] Pull 1.0 is now released!

2011-01-07 Thread shaun everiss

tj, how did you make the installer for the origional pool.
I can make one with innosetup.
in fact I can do a cast on this.

Hello all,

I have now released Pull 1.0!

You have just obtained a Spas12 shotgun, and want to give it a test
run. Your friend has access to a private shooting range, and has
offered it to you for your personal use. Meeting him there, you
notice he has set up a machine to launch clay pidgins into the
air. The objective of the game is simple. Shoot them out of the
air. Be careful, though, his standing rule is you must have your
gun pointed down for safety while a pidgin is not in flight. When a
pidgin is launched, you have to lift your gun, cock it, and shoot it
out of the air. If you hit it, your score goes up by one. Every so
often, you will advance to a faster rate of flight. You, however,
do not have limmited ammunition loaded. You must time things just
right so that you have enough bullets loaded into the breach. Be
careful! Your friend is rather sinical, and will deduct your score
by two if you miss.

Feel free to download it from:

http://tjsquires.net/downloads/pull.zip

For those of you that may have downloaded it previously, I wish to
ask you to redownload the new zip file, as I can't make an installer
to save my life. Smile.

I will be going back to the installer once I can figure out where I
went wrong, and therefore can release a new version.

Hope you all enjoy the game,

Tj

hi tj.
There is an installer for pool its in your folder in the bgt folder of dropbox.
in it are the following.
1. a file called pool.iss, innosetup source.
pool install no preproc.iss which is not using the preprocesser, this
can be used for the istool program there is a tutorial file on how
to make stuff.
this is in reply to the message you put up here saying you have no
idea how to make an installer.
Origionally I was gona do an audio on it but I had so many issues I
decided to text it all instead.
I also included the source programs but you will have to download new
versions yourself.
I also recomend you subscribe to the news announcement list to get
new versions.

hth
shaun
ps for those that this doesn't concern you can kill this message, for
those that are actually in the bgt folder feel free to hack my code
or put text files with questions.
for those in the bgt folder most of you should have klango ids, im me
on crashmaster or email me at sm.ever...@gmail.com

I check email more than klango, though klango is once a day.
I only used generaters anyway
happy gaming.

[Audyssey] Initial Pull feedback.

2011-01-07 Thread Christopher Bartlett
Ok, weird problem here, the pigeon sound does not travel from speaker to
speaker, though the pigeon shooter shows up in the left where it should and
the sound of shattering pigeons travels to different places depending on the
timing of my shot.

In the first five levels, I didn't notice any change in the pacing of the
pulls or the speed of the pigeons. I was able to develop a timing sense
that worked nearly perfectly, despite having no effective targeting data.
This may not be what you intend.

How many other people think it's too slow and it needs a change?

2011-01-07 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi Tj,

I also found the game too easy for me. It just was the same pattern for
me after the first few shots and I ended the game purposely when I was
at level 7.
I also noticed no change in the speed of the pidgeons at all and I even
got them when I shot a bit too early or too late, they didn't have to be
in the dead center for me to hit them.

This a game where I would definately say: Make it more difficult.
*smiles*

Best regards
Sarah

Re: [Audyssey] Pull 1.0 is now released!

2011-01-07 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Tj,

I for one thought the game was just too slow and easy. Oh, the speed
it is at now is fine for level 1, a sort of training level, but later
levels should get faster and more difficult. That's triditional for an
arcade game.

Something else I noticed is there is no pause key. Last time I was
playing I had to leave the computer for a minute and could not pause
the game. I ended up having to exit the entire game and start over.
That's not cool at all.

Peter, Yes. I can figure out difficulty levels and what not, I think.

Sean, thank you. That's very useful. I'll have to study how you did it.

Christopher, Thanks for reporting it was too easy. I naturally like my
games hard, so don't know much about what other people like. I guess
I'll have to get better with skill. That brings up a good question.
How many other people think it's too slow and it needs a change?

 Thanks,

I just figured out how to do pausing, so, that should be in the next

up i think three or four times as fast now, and the panning in which you
can shoot them down has been increased by 1/3 thus far. Anything else I
should add? Hopefully I can manage to get it right this time! *grins*.

2011-01-07 Thread Tj Squires

Hi Thomas,

Yes. This is a major flaw, and unfortunately, there is not an easy way,
for me at least, to do this in BGT as of yet. I do believe it can be
done with a .ini/cfg file or what not, however, I'm unfamiliar with file
writing functions. A lot of what has gone into Pull has been me
learning on the go, and considering I just uploaded 1.3, as to which I
will post about momentarily, I will begin looking into this, and see if
I can, until BGT oficially supports it, implement some sort of workaround.

Hi Thomas,

This is actually my fault. The tts_voice object in BGT currently does not

xml commands.

Kind regards,

[Audyssey] Pull 1.3 is here!

2011-01-07 Thread Tj Squires

Hi all, I'll cut to the chase. Here are the new changes.

1.3
*Decreased the area of fire from 12 units to 4, thanks members of the
Audyssey List!

*Added a pause function. Thanks Thomas!
*added a pause sound.
*Made the background ambiance loop properly. Thanks Philip and Audyssey
List!

*Updated the keys section of the manual to reflect pausing.
*Moved the checking for updates to the main menu.

Now it's time for my little blerb! I know updates are coming rather
frequently, and those of you that have played the game can tell that
it's my first time ever doing something like this. I am getting
sentamental for a minute, bare with me! I've always wanted to put out a
game, or multiple games, and am overjoyed at the chance to do so. I
must thank all of you that have given me feedback, because it's all gone
into my learning process. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of you have
rolled your eyes at the amount of updates in the last two days, 3
actually, and said Oh god. When will he be finally done! Because I
know I have! Lol. Anyway, for those of you that are enjoying the game
as I am enjoying making it, I have to thank you. It's been fun so far,
and I've learned lots. For those of you that have had the misfortune to
play Car Shot, I hope that you have or will give Pull a try, because I
think it'll be much much better for you. I'm still learning what makes
a game difficult in my mind and in code are different, so, bare wth me
as I struggle through this, and hopefully come out, when completed, with
a game that people enjoy playing. So, once again, please send your
feedback my way, weather good or bad, I could use it trust me! Also,
thank you once again for taking your time to try my little game!

A note to sean: I know you enjoy the installer, however, because of the
updator thing, and just because it's been this way from the beginning, I
think I am going to keep the game as a zip file for now, unless people
really wish for the installer. Also, I'm not sure how Phil does it,
but, being on his games list, for consistancy, I think it would make his
life a little easier too. If I don't kill him with the ammount of
updates the seem to be coming forth. *grins*.

Thanks again,

Tj

Hi Charles,

Thank you. It is very rewarding, and frustrating at the same time if
that makes sense!

Re: [Audyssey] Pull 1.3 is here!

2011-01-07 Thread Munawar Bijani

Hi Tj,
I doubt people mind the updates. Three-D Velocity has been updated about
three times since its initial release. At least you're actively supporting
the game. Releasing frequent updates is better than slackign off and not
caring to fix bugs and keep the project going. Also, releasing an update
from time to time lets people know you're still around. The update
notification was a good feature you added.

I know updates are coming rather
frequently, and those of you that have played the game can tell that it's
my first time ever doing something like this. I am getting sentamental
for a minute, bare with me! I've always wanted to put out a game, or
multiple games, and am overjoyed at the chance to do so. I must thank all
of you that have given me feedback, because it's all gone into my learning
process. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of you have rolled your eyes at
the amount of updates in the last two days, 3 actually, and said Oh god.
When will he be finally done! Because I know I have! Lol. Anyway, for
those of you that are enjoying the game as I am enjoying making it, I have
to thank you. It's been fun so far, and I've learned lots. For those of
you that have had the misfortune to play Car Shot, I hope that you have or
will give Pull a try, because I think it'll be much much better for you.
I'm still learning what makes a game difficult in my mind and in code are
different, so, bare wth me as I struggle through this, and hopefully come
out, when completed, with a game that people enjoy playing. So, once
again, please send your feedback my way, weather good or bad, I could use
it trust me! Also, thank you once again for taking your time to try my
little game!

A note to sean: I know you enjoy the installer, however, because of the
updator thing, and just because it's been this way from the beginning, I
think I am going to keep the game as a zip file for now, unless people
really wish for the installer. Also, I'm not sure how Phil does it, but,
being on his games list, for consistancy, I think it would make his life a
little easier too. If I don't kill him with the ammount of updates the
seem to be coming forth. *grins*.

Thanks again,

Tj

Re: [Audyssey] Initial Pull feedback.

2011-01-07 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Tj,

I sort of figured that might be beyond you at the moment. Sapi 5 uses
xml tags to set voice rate, pitch, volume etc and I'm not at all sure
if BGT can use xml markup for more realistic Sapi speech control.

On 1/7/11, Tj Squires t...@tjsquires.net wrote:
 Hi Thomas,

2011-01-07 Thread shaun everiss

well I don't mind either.
as long as there is an installer for one version, and then you can
make the updater download the zip and extract updated files or
whatever thats fine.
I havn't bothered with the docs but if I am able to make some sort of
updater installer to check for and get updates or something I may try.
