Re: [Audyssey] A question about playing games and my computer
It's not games specifically, anything that makes your computer work like watching a dvd or uploading files will do that, don't worry about it it just shows your fan is working correctly. Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires
I happen to agree Tom, for what they are azabat are ridiculously overpriced. The other sad thing is that they rnib over here has sort of picked up on azabat (just the sort of thing they appreciate, symple and appealing to old people), so if you say audiogames over here, azabat is the only name you get. I'll freely admit this is why it's taken me so long to write up game entries for audiogames.net, sinse I never really considdered them a priority for having reviews so that people will know about them the way I considder for instance Aprone's games or time of conflict. i do feel slightly bad about the this, especialy sinse Azabat sent me their demo cd so that I could write reviews, but I just find it hard to get excited about games like there's, especially at such a price, and especially sinse there key feature, running from the cd without installation, isn't one I find particularly appealing either for myself or in general, - heck even my mum who is extremely afraid of computers generally can activate an item on the programs menue to run spoonbill sudoku once I installed it for her. Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires
Hi Tom. this is true, and I freely admit that I've been pleased to pay about 17 pounds for the majority of audio games in the 25 to 30 usd range. as a matter of perspective a pizza would cost about ten pounds, (assuming you don't buy from someone unreasonable like dominoes), so 17 usd is fine. most of my mainstream games cost 30 to 40 pounds, so about the same price as the azabat ones jhust as Tom said, though some for more expensive systems like the wii can be more expensive of course. Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement
hi Tom. That's not good, i hope your wife gets better soon. Personally I am looking forward to level 2 too much to miss out on getting it for want of a litle patience, in fact I'd be a bit disappointed if level 2 wasn't in the next beta sinse Mota has got rather fun of late. My vote therefore goes for getting it done when you can, rather than releasing it on schedule half done. Beware the Grue! Dark. - Original Message - From: "Thomas Ward" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Thursday, March 03, 2011 4:24 AM Subject: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement Hi everyone, I know I told a lot of you that Mysteries of the Ancients beta 18 would be done about the end of February. A lot of you have started asking questions off list what is going on, why isn't the beta ready, etc and I thought I'd make a quick public announcement explaining where we stand on things. As so often happens with creating accessible games as a side venture in our free time real life problems and issues simply get in the way. This case is no different. Around a week ago my wife got really sick. We took her to the hospital where they gave her some antibiotics, and strict orders to stay in bed for seven to ten days until she felt well enough to get out of bed. As a result I've had to take over all of the house hold duties such as cooking, cleaning, and doing simple tasks like fetching my wife a glass of water when she needs to take a pill etc. The end result of all of this is absolutely no time to work on MOTA at all. So our beta 18 release schedule is pretty much shot to pieces. So here is the thing. I could go ahead and release beta 18 now, as is, but it isn't complete so to speak. Most of the upgrades are done, level 1 has been updated, but we don't yet have level 2 added to the demo. So it is really your choice if you want to wait a few days for me to add level 2 to the game, when I have the time to do so, or if you would rather just have the beta now without level 2. Thomas gaming is always fun, however, I'm sure we are all totally understanding of how life throws things at us and we have to put things on hold. Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement
Hi Thomas. I personally think your far too kind in this. Yes I am greatful you have informed the community why Beta18 hasn't been released as announced previously. But asking the community whether they want it now unfinished or to wait I feel is unnecessary. You as the developer should do as you wish and what you need to do to satisfy yourself. I honestly believe this decision should be purely down to you, and agree that you should not release anything, any betas, any finished product or anything until you are as happy with it as you ar going to be. Yes people will mown and complain, but at the end of the day you create these games in your spair time, for your enjoyment as much if not more than to make money, so I think your satisfaction is key. I think you've given the community far too much freedom in saying what they want from this game etc, and believe it should be your project, and people will buy it when its ready, regardless of if they have had input into the game or not. Sorry for that rant, but this pandering to blind gamers too much gets on my nerves, mainstream developers wouldn't dream of asking their customers such a question and people still buy their games. Yes keep us up to date with progress, but no more. THanks RIchard On 3/3/11, Lelia Struve wrote: > I agree, and also I don't think there should be any hurry, bring it out > when you can. Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement
Well said bravo. Original message: Hi Thomas. THanks RIchard On 3/3/11, Lelia Struve wrote: I agree, and also I don't think there should be any hurry, bring it out when you can. Any thoughts? Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement
Hi Tom, I hope she is doing better. Now, I am going to wait. Even if I even don't know you, I will be more satisfied if you tell us here that you wife is ffeeling better. Best regards! Milos Przic msn: milos.pr...@gmail.com skype: Milosh-hs - Original Message - From: "Thomas Ward" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Thursday, March 03, 2011 5:24 AM Subject: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement Hi everyone, I know I told a lot of you that Mysteries of the Ancients beta 18 would be done about the end of February. Hi, Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, she is doing better. Today she actually got out of bed and came to the kitchen table and is eating something other than soop. Which is a good sign she is doing much better. Most of the worst of it was last weekend when she couldn't get out of bed without falling down. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up as to why I'm not working on MOTA, and let people know the release will be out when I'm able to. Cheers! Hi, Yes, in deed. Personally I think the Haunted House table is easily my favorite of the pinball tables. Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires
Hi Dark, Agreed. I mean a lot of the games that Azabat Software creates are quite a bit of like what Spoonbill or Jim Kitchen creates for free. It is true that Drafts, AKA Checkers, is the only accessible version I know of, but I'm not going to fork over around $65.00 to get it. Plus as you say their method of playing from the cd etc is a bit cheesy in my opinion. Why not let people download and install the games they want instead. I'd rather just pay something like $15 for Checkers, since that is a game I'd like to have, and download and install it. Why should I have to buy the entire collection cd just to get it? As for non-prophet orgs and companies for the blind latching onto games etc that are apealing to small children or senior citizens I've seen my fair share of that as well. I can't count how many times I've seen catalogs advertising something like the APH games such as Termite Torpedo, Toodle Tiles, and so on and I can't help but scream enough, "lame! Lame! Lame!" Its like can't they find something a little more adult and something more interesting I'd be interested in? hi tom I think we've run into another of those us vs uk differences again. grub over here, especially from chains like dominoes, subway mcdonalds or starbux is far more expensive than it is in the states. For instance, a ten inch pizza from dominoes with three or four toppings is 13 pounds, which is close to 21 dollars, and that's just for the pizza alone no drinks, side orders or anything else. contrast this with my extremely nice local pizza place where I can get a ten inch pizza (and a pretty good one too, actually imho as good as pizza hut), a side order like onion rings, some very nice chocolate gato and a can of coke for 10 pounds, that's about 14 or 15 dollars. Dang! Outrageous prices for a chain of pizzerias, and I think we get 12-inch pizzas here, not 10, so that makes them seem even more expensive. Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires
I sort of see what azabat were thinking with the running directly from the cd business, but given that once something is installed in windows you have some very friendly shortcuts to launch it, even in the case of complete computer novices it seems to make litle sense for me, heck it's not so difficult to create a shortcut key so that this mythical seenile old computer using pathetic blind person of helpless idiocy can just hit one key to run the thing, afterall if they're that! computer illiterate would you trust them not to scratch the cd? ;d. Back on the price issue, I do think in fairness azabat's games are negotiable, in fact I recall reading something about them having downloadable versions of there games for about 20 usd each, though I'm afraid this stil seems rather much to me. Really the only one of their games which has ever really interested me is backgamman, sinse it's a game I've rather fancied learning, but I'm not sure if I want to pay that sort of money for it. Hi Dark, That's ok. You already got me hungry. I'm considering about sticking a frozen pizza in the oven, but my wife told me not to. She tells me to wait until the weekend and see if she is up to eating pizza. Boo, who, who! Anyway, you are right about grub prices. I don't think I've ever paid $20 for a Dominoes pizza here in the states. Its been a while since we ordered one, but generally it is like $12 to $14 or something like that for a 10 inch most places. Plus a lot of times there are deals like buy one get one free which definitely gives you your money worth that way. Haven't seen any buy one get one free deals for a while though. Boo, who, who! An 18 inch pizza? that's not a pizza, that's a truck tire! Actually dominoes do do 12 inch, as do my very nice local shop (and they, unlike dominoes only charge an extra quid for 12 inch), but I only tend to order those if I'm really uba! hungry. Hi, The What? What's a hanimbal lecter style slerp of evil? Lol! I will say though that pizza sounds like something I'd love to try. Re: [Audyssey] A question about playing games and my computer
no, that is not usually. Depending on how your cpu handles heat the fan has different speeds. if you play a game and it gets louder thats fine. If it doesn't drop afterward or if your fan is loud anyway or your system crashes loads then be concerned with it. Replacing the fan or cleaning it would be a good idea. OR its just windows being stupid. What can you do. If you can't afford fixing or replacing fans and getting repairs for your laptop or whatever try cleaning the registry, closing stuff you don't need to or something like run an antivirus program. If that still doesn't fix it, you can try a reformat. And the problem may just go away if you are lucky. If it is the fan or whatever its going to fail eventually. There are extra fans you can stick under the laptop which cost little which I may do for extra cooling. Re: [Audyssey] A question about playing games and my computer
I should also add that there are fan programs that are supposed to slow the fan. Though this works on slower systems or systems that are to loud on a couple systems, mine and my dad's the systems frequently crashed with the fans slowed. ON my grandpa's system the fan kept going on and off, this is the main fan so I abandoned software. These days the newer systems are dead quiet as it is. I'll wait I know what that can be like. A lot has been happening in my life lately so much so that the only time I really can play games is late at night around midnight. Re: [Audyssey] mario brothers recordings
I should add a few things to this. download the entire installation for all apps then install it. uncheck all the search options and home pages and toolbars. install the program. don't run it after install. you can also delete the studio manager icon to on the desktop. next go to c:\program files\comman files\dvdvideosoft then delete the tb folder. if you do this the toolbar offer will not come up. this done the program will work without the toolbar nagging at you. true though I tried a metal fan last night but found it a little bit smaller there is another plastic job which has the same function but is bigger. I don't need one but this doubles as a stand for the unit meaning I can use it in more places as long as its not a couch which should rock. A good place would be the floor, or a low table. Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires
hmph! Here its jaws is the best and nothing else. I wouldn't recomend as a bat for old people. Simple? kitchensinc for starters has been one of the first dev companies of a sort out there since it all began about 13 years ago. Spoonbil is another although its only 4 years maybe 3 or less years old in that respect. There is rsgames which was last year at least for the client. There is 0128 not sure about simplicity but. There are some of th experimental projects and then their are research projects like last crusade and sonic zoom. Not to mention some others I can't think over my head. Hmmm some of the aph stuff I guess if you can call those a game. There are probably others. [Audyssey] and on the subject of game systems
And on the subject of game systems its interesting to note that the sighted gamers out there are not just happy with one console or 2. My cousin has a psp a ps1 ps2 actually 2 ps2's a ps3, and an xbox 360. ONe of my friends has the following a ps1 a ps2, a ps3, a psp nentendo game cube nentendo x64 a super nentendo a nentendo a wie a ipod and iphone. all of the sega consoles from dreamcast to genisus and mastersystem. about 10 computers, both pc and mac from various eras, etc. I guess I could say I have about 6-7 myself maybe 10. one is soled, 2 are broken. 2 I maintain for other family. my dad and brother have one each and I have my laptop. Still I don't know how they afford it all, ebay probably but still. No wander the sighted worry about having to much junk. In my friend's case he has a room dedicated to this stuff. It seems funny sometimes. If you have every console on the market with say about 100 games for each or whatever. how the heck are you supposed to figure out what to play. I also don't know how one can have teatering stacks of cds and stuff so full that one movement in any direction results in things dropping like a miniture avelanch. same here. I have had now dead friends and family going to hospital. Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement
I can aggree with that. Interestingly Since life has got slightly bussier than it used to be I have not been that fussed with waiting times. IN fact the only time I get to really gander like this is either late at night or early in the morning. It is because of my life that I woke up early this morning with about 100 things running round my head. I decided to sort as many of these as I could, and this one, that is my online life seems to take up a lot of time. Example in point I spent the first 2 days fiddling with abandoned and other games from the forums. I hate forums but I will try to see what i like on these and subscribe to what I want. This is why I had delayed responces to things like closed threads before I actually recieved the message for closed topics. At 12:57 a.m. 4/03/2011, you wrote: Hey Tom. Marriage comes first. [Audyssey] presents and such
Hi. My friend just got several presents for birthday. one of them was the tv show game tv series of you don't know jack, he also got the third addition of that game and another addition of that. What additions of the ydkj game are accessible. Another thing is that I am thinking of asking for a boppit for my birthday. I played a standard bopit my cousin had and now seriously want one. What is the most accessible. standard classic, extreem or download and is the downloadable content accessible and free? I think this thing would really rock. On that note any other handhelds should I be aware of which are not game boy related or anything like that. There are times when away where a computer is not the thing I care for. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. depends. if its public you may have to send the files seperately. if you want to share the folder then you can share with anyone. Though you may want to just copy the share url to those that may be interested. Re: [Audyssey] Thomas you did it, I'm trying MOTA
well weapons need to be holstered before you jump. The engine is quite realistic. as in real life you can't probably jump over a pit if you are holding to much. Torches seem ok but you need a hand free if it makes sence. I never managed to play it. it exists if you know where, but I havn't been bothered to use it. I have the other dsg titles though but never really bother with them much either.
