Re: [hlds] when will these be fixed?

2008-07-10 Thread Ronny Schedel
Sentries tracking through walls should not be fixed. The engineer is already
the worst character right now, the sentries are too weak to fight back
against Pyros, Heavys and Demomans. Also with the upcoming Heavy patch, it
will go worse for the Engineer. He even cannot fight back in a close combat
against a Medic with Blutsauger.

so we have:

1) badlands vis blocker on the red spawn (since map release)
2) goldrush burning through the wall, stage 1 near cap 2 top building
across the red spawn building (since map release)
3) sentries tracking through walls
4) shooting through gates
5) pyro taunt doesn't work when lost
6) crits actually being crits
7) pyro crit flame getting stuck on when not firing
8) badlands last progressive spawn should not have buildable areas by
crouching

anymore?

to be honest i can't belive i forgot the pyro crit flame bug. its been
there so long its kinda like part of the game. would have thought that
would have been fixed a long time ago.

It's your last line of defense if your team loses and you're being chased
 down in the bonus round.
 Plus, it's hilarious.

Also, the pyro taunt isn't instant kill - a heavy with a medic on him will
 survive it quite easily.
I think it (and all kill taunts) should truly be instant kill.

i have noticed this too. it seems that with the last fix for this that
its actually gotten worse and happens more and with almost every class.

another thing that could be fixed is the pyro taunt killing people after
they lose and the taunts working while you fall off a edge, leaving you
able to walk around and kill while taunting

Pretend you're a sniper, firing SMG rounds down range on a scout running
directly towards you (No transversal direction), when your stream turns
critical. The tracers appear to be hitting the scout directly, but no
Critical Hit or schpank noises come from them. I've noticed it for
almost every non-explosive, non-shotgun crit. (Pistols, SMG, etc)

Perhaps someone else has noticed this more lately?

Re: [hlds] when will these be fixed?

2008-07-10 Thread JT
I guess the tracking can be an advantage sometimes if the sentry is
already aimed directly at the enemy the moment they come out from
behind a wall. Following them after they go back behind a wall would
be a problem though.. I think they should just get rid of the
through-wall tracking and make them swivel faster.

Somebody mentioned the cart progress indicator bug, and that reminded me
that occasionally, on CTF maps (Or maybe just 2fort specifically, I don't
know.) the radar will lock, and even if the intel is being carried to
bridge, the arrows indicate the intel is safely At Home.

Not to mention that most server operators are avid fans of the games they
host. More than often they get the most feedback about what works and
doesn't work. This is the perfect place for them to discuss it.

even mailed it to valve several times without a reply. I could have

And on the question why to submit bugs here? Simply because in the years
this list exists, most of the communication from valve, if at all, happens
at this very place.

get info on server updates, not to get thousands of useless bug complaint

i have done this several times and i know others have aswell. a lot of
these bugs are several months old. heck the pyro crit fire bug has been
there since game launch. I don't have much faith in the bug tracker for
the reason that a lot of submitted bugs seem to be forgotten.

I will continue on updating this and hope you guys keep sending more
bugs, epically the ones that have been around forever that still have

@jdoc, I am a server owner, so under your own idea i have a right to
use
the mailing list for this and these bug affect the game in negitive

bitch about misc. bugs. tired of getting all these bullshit

how cart disappears from the radar on goldrush or whatever. the

one freaking track and the cart has only one direction it can go

I guess the tracking can be an advantage sometimes if the sentry
is
already aimed directly at the enemy the moment they come out from
behind a wall. Following them after they go back behind a wall
would
be a problem though.. I think they should just get rid of the
through-wall tracking and make them swivel faster.

@jdocs earlier comments and not to Saint K's message
it would be considered span if there wasn't a point to this topic.
however since there is a point to this topic and others seem to be
experiencing the same problems with bug not getting fixed when they bug
report them (after months of doing it), then there is a issue with the
way the current system work.

To answer your comment earlier , i have emailed valve on several
occasions only to have the emails also ignored.

please if you don't like this topic then please filter it and stop
flaming it. Your are the only one that is making this topic into a
problem that its not. if you need help setting up filter i will be happy
to google you some instructions.

PHX 2 and 3 together will CLASH. Only install PHX3.

Do you get any errors in the server-side or client-side console? Is your
 prop protector setup correctly?

Remove all mods and then add them one by one.

Re: [hlds] Immaturity of Saink K.

2008-07-10 Thread Kitteny Berk
I don't see what anyone's age has to do with this. It's not HLDS
Mailing list for people from the age of 20 to 40

It's the HLDS mailing list, people discuss issues with and around the
HLDS servers.

I feel bugs in games we host are completely valid for discussion in this
context and mailing list, I get a lot of questions about them, and a
good deal of them need fixing. It also helps me know what issues are
local to my servers, and which are just game bugs.

Oh, and ad hominem attacks aren't big or clever, It'd be nice if you'd
give them a break.

Guys, I agree, this has gone far enough for me to create a filter to
move all these messages to the trash.

If you want to let off steam, spam the SPUF forums and see how the mods
like it (Guaranteed they will NOT like it).

If anything, take it off-list, this is for hlds related talk not your
petty arguments.

That IS awesome.

Better then all the crap I just caught up on at least. I love that we
had a guy come here for help, figure shit out himself, get pissed and
then leave without telling anyone how he did it.

It's too bad, because I'm sure eventually someone else probably would've
come looking for the same information help here and now that
opportunity is lost. Bummer

Thanks for everyone else's input into this matter but due to some people that
can't be mature about receiving a lot of e-mails from a mailing list and has
not read the previous mails I think should just keep off, and the fact that it
was just plain rude about what was said (quote reinstall for the third time
then? or stop spamming and contact valve?) is not called for and the reinstall
would not work and contacting valve would take to long

So the Fix! All you have to do is copy the base and the sandbox game mode back
onto the server from a standard gmod client directory that will fix this issue

I'm sorry that people can't keep their cool about a small issue that I wanted
to get fixed ASAP.

Again from now on I shall not ask anything more from this mailing list
(because of the abuse and insults) and i will only give input if i know how to
fix something without getting flamed of every 2 seconds.

Good luck to all you that have helped

Farewell
Dan

PHX 2 and 3 together will CLASH. Only install PHX3.

Do you get any errors in the server-side or client-side console? Is your

Remove all mods and then add them one by one.

Re: [hlds] Cant spawn vehicles and thrusters in gmod 10

2008-07-10 Thread Steve
Yeah I had a similar problem with one of the recent updated. I found
that I had to remove the sandbox and base gamemode files and run the
update again to get things working again. I guess the updates don't
override the lua files correctly or something.

Re: [hlds] when will these be fixed?

2008-07-10 Thread George Devgru Seal
@SakeFox
In an attempt to re-align with the topic, I'll bring up another bug I've
spotted.

I know valve has said they fixed spy backstabbing exploits, but I still
occasionally notice facestabbing. Now, I understand if it were a case of
lag, but when you're back peddling from a spy, while staring at him
directly, I don't quite think it's a case of lag.

It shows a bit in a video I made of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tDEcsJZaXQ

I mean, I can see how it COULD be a backstab via sidestabbing, but that's
just one example I found in a demo. I have a few others I haven't fraps'd
yet.
