RE: Tour de Wessex
The first time I went to Shaftesbury a few years ago I deliberately didn't go to Gold Hill - it's such a photographic cliché. This time, though, I thought I'd better get it over and done with. Luckily I was about 30 minutes too late to get the best light, so I took the mandatory shot and had done with it. It is a very lovely spot though, and St. James at the foot of the hill is very, very beautiful. That first advert reminds me of my mother and her sisters and brother. There are 5 of them, brought up in a Bradford terrace in the 30s by their widowed mother - real urban poverty in those days. One of the stories they reminisce about is being given a farthing once, so they bought a stick of liqourice between the 5 of them and all had a lick. Lixury! The only body that I'm aware of that had large differences in behavior, beyond the scope of the usual release notes that accompany the firmware upgrade, was the *ist DS. If you download the manual for the *ist DS2, its instruction are a better match to the latest fw upgrade available for the DS body. There are small notes that accompany each firmware update. I've not found any reason to need anything deeper for the K10D's updates. (The Panasonic L1 recently got a fw v2 update that is extensive enough that they put out a five page PDF addendum...) Re: Bouncer
Bill - That's where we diverge in our methodology. The unfortunate truth is that if you don't have a chain of command, you really don't have an effective military. So, yes, we do have heroes - everyone who puts their all on the line at the will of their commander is a hero in my book. No more so nor less now than when your father fought. The problem lies with the politicians (and the commander-in-chief, no matter what name you give him/her is *still* a politician) that make the policy to put the military into action. And with the populace who let themselves be led down the primrose path to where we are now under the guise of protecting us from something (which in reality didn't exist). We're not a fascist state yet, but if we become one it won't be because of military initiative, it will be from politicians ignoring the constitution and the people being apathetic enough to let them do it. -p William Robb wrote: - Original Message - From: Paul Sorenson Subject: Re: Bouncer I wish more Americans felt this way instead of acting like sheep every time someone takes a crack at eroding more of our civil liberties. I won't absolve the military completely. In the US, we swear our primary allegiance to *The Constitution*. Our leadership (and here I'm addressing specifically the high ranking careerist officers at the Pentagon) has apparently forgotten that. Fascism can only occur in the US if the military doesn't stand up to the politicians and refuse un-lawful orders. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: Blocked by Smart Fitler
No it satisfies, employers who don't want their employees looking at porn when they're supposed to be working. That's what those filters are meant for, (plus a scary message that your attempt to access a forbidden site has been logged). Personally I see no problem using it this way, you get paid at work to do things you wouldn't do otherwise, that's why it's called work. Not very smart at all, but it satisfies the religio-fascists who want to keep you barefoot and pregnant. -- All dogs have four legs; my cat has four legs. What I've seen was only bits and pieces because I had the channel set for the show following it that I loved and was afraid I would miss if the TV wasn't on to remind me it was about to start. In NY that show is/was BONES about a forensic anthropologist. Don't watch the Simpsons, but can't claim that as a specific since I don't watch *ANY* television. I have one, and I'll occasionally turn it on to amuse the cats, but I don't watch it myself. In 2005 - 2006 when I lived in an apartment that had cable included, I did occasionally watch Discovery and History Channels. I'd possibly get cable TV is I could get some BBC channels. Don't they have more than one? Or possibly MCM Musique ... had that one on satellite in Iraq, and enjoyed it. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
