I have uninstalled LMS from my nas now and instead am using their own 'Media Server' app - which seems to be working very well. I was confused because the package on SourceForge has a different name than the ones on your server - LogitechMediaServer vs SqueezeCenter. The upgrade went well :-) The DSD package isn't supported yet, but that was to be expected. That was the only package that was disabled after the upgrade. One oddity though, the LMS is telling me there's an upgrade to version 1584422335, but that's the one I have installed right now. That's just cosmetic of course - doesn't change the fact that 8.0.0 is running great. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.2 packages
Pinkdot, once again thank you very much for all the effort you've put and you're putting into the project. I'm still(?) on 7.9.2-0030 from your Sourceforge page. Is it possible to update to the 8.x.x packages via this package (i.e. installing an .spk from the Package Center), or will it be necessary to add your repo to the Synology's package center and reinstall/reconfigure the LMS in order to upgrade? I don't mind installing it manually by the way, so that perk of using your repo in the package center isn't really applicable - yet. Synology ds418. It crashes whether I use a pc or phone. Don't mind testing nosb. All we've seen so far is that there are networking issues. It doesn't crash (the process stays in memory). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.2 packages
I am using classic mode, when browsing with Firefox. I don't have a internet connection. That would explain some issues. Your use of the term "crash" is a bit confusing though. "Hang" would probably be more accurate: when you open the plugins page LMS would try to get the latest plugin update information from the internet. I don't know whether this is using a reasonable timeout. But maybe it's just taking a few minutes before it gives up. You certainly do have some level of internet access, or you couldn't update LMS. Why don't enable that (temporarily) to turn off all the plugins? And once you go offline, don't touch the plugins page any more? This has nothing to do with pinkdot's Synology packages and doesn't really belong here. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

One thing I find annoying about plugin updates is that when I see there are updates available on the plugins tab I sometimes do want to postpone one of the updates so I deliberately don't tick the box for that plugin but it gets updated anyway when the server restarts. So effectively there is no way to opt out of a plugin update even with automatic updates turned off. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.2 packages
I can't readily access your VPN provider site - my ISP blocks access to it. Is its job to allow you to access your home network when you are out - or to somewhat hide your details when you visit other sites? If only the 2nd one then it is not what you need for LMS access. If you read through the (long) thread about not allowing access you will see some well hidden information about how to override this check in LMS. It is not shouted about here because of the possible problems when doing it. But - by reading the thread to find it you will have learned more about what it does and why. Are these the relevant settings that people refer to when they say "use a VPN" when they talk about using LMS through the internet ? Any guide on settings please ? As noted, I already use a VPN from privateinternetaccess.com that encrypts everything, is that NOT sufficient ? Can anyone in the world access your LMS installation? If yes - then there is a chance that they will (there are plenty of examples) and will have fun changing your settings, playing music loudly and setting a password to make it difficult for you to get back in to LMS to fix things. If you have no intention of accessing your LMS from outside you local network and access has been left open by mistake ... then close down that access route. If you do want it to be accessible and you think that you have protected access to your LMS via a VPN (or similar) then please post network settings with some explanation so that the problem can be diagnosed further (assuming it remains) ... and probably in a new thread. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.2 packages
Currently I'm testing LmsRepack again to run on my server next to LmsUpdate/ Logitech Media Server. As some of you might know, LmsRepack once was brought to life to make it available via the Package Center. This way you can install LmsRepack as any other package and Package Center will notify you when an update is available. If you want to test LmsRepack, please do! Some feedback would be nice :) A few things to know before you start: - LmsRepack will not use you current settings, library nor plugins of LmsUpdate or Logitech Media Server. So, you'll start with a clean install! - If you have LmsUpdate or Logitech Media Server running: STOP IT, before installing LmsRepack. You DON'T have to remove it! You can leave both installed on your server as long as only 1 service is running! - Add 'Location' https://pinkdot.myds.me/sspks/ to the Package Sources in Package Center settings. 'Name' can be set to anything. After adding the location refresh Package Center and LmsRepack will appear under 'Community'. - Port 9000 is used for LmsRepack (instead of 9002). - You can remove LmsRepack just like any other package using the Package Center. - Yes, it's only available for X86_64 nas! I did check it and noted that I had about 75+ instances of one process running under LMS but I cant remember exactly which process it was. I do believe it was related to the Shairplay plugin. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.2 packages
Hello All, I have had my LMS set up on my Synology NAS for many months and aside from an issue getting Shairplay to work, it's been working flawlessly for me until today. Today, I went to stream music using my iPeng app, and couldn't find any players. I checked my Synology NAS and noted that the CPU was running at 100%. When checking the services, LMS was using over 85% of the CPU. I stopped the plugin and it went back down to 8%. I started it again and it shot back up to 100%. I tried updating to the newest version, 7.9.1-168.0027, but as soon as it installed, it shot back up to 100%. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the plugin, and that seems to have solved the CPU usage issue, however, I am now stuck at the the loading screen for LMS with the words "Loading Logitech Media Server..." and a spinning wheel. I can't find any players in iPeng, despite all of my player being online and reachable via IP address (running piCorePlayer 5.0, FWIW). I'm at a total loss and am not very good at troubleshooting these types of issues, but great at following directions. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. I find it a bit odd to see you making a comment here, and not in the '--nomysqueezebox thread'. But please say so, if you don't want us to use or promote --nomysqueezebox. I've left similar comments every now and then. Whenever I see the "feature" getting too much attention I add to it. My bad :-). One thing I would like to know is if Logitech is still using this shared data, and if this is compliant the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Yes, it is. I'm not the expert myself, but we do have experts asking me questions and telling me what to do in this regard. First of all: there's no data collected for the sake of collecting data. I removed analytics code years ago. https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/2f7cb049a594917b2406de537fc5955062bca364 The SB related websites no longer use Google Analytics and the likes. I think we no longer pull in any resource from any outside host. What I call "data" is what is being stored as part of the integration. Prefs syncing and app configurations. Plus technical data like web server log files logging requests. That's it. We don't even store prefs about non-Logitech hardware players. It's really all about the feature of potentially switching a player from LMS to mysb.com and back. Second: "Logitech" as a larger organization does not actively use this data. What I'm asked for every now and then is summarized numbers like "how many users/devices are there". I'm likely the only one even knowing how to get to that data. AFAIK there are only three people (including myself) who have access to the database. And you can easily delete your account from mysb.com. If you didn't provide credentials in LMS but didn't apply the --nomysb flag either, the devices would still use the image proxy on mysb.com to speed up image resizing. All the data collected in this case is the log entry in nginx' access.log file. That's what I'd use to estimate the number of players out there still actively being used. With --nomysb applied I don't have that information any more. Which means I don't "see" those installations. I'm sorry for this totally off-topic, and rather lengthy posting. But you asked for it :-P. I definitely don't want to be a pain about the nomysb flag. After all I did implement it. But as so often I didn't consider the negative impact it might have. I considered it an easy way for myself to make sure LMS would still run without mysb.com. Only later I came to realize that it could also prevent me from making sure mysb.com does not go away too soon... -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
