I’d like to fix it perminantly but I don’t know why it starts

I presume your toaster is fairly current (you didn't mention any versions).

It appears that your toaster in unable to authenticate. The tcp.smtp
file is the wrong place to fix that. You should use the stock file, and
remember to qmailctl cdb whenever you change it. Here's the file I have:

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,RBLSMTPD=,NOP0FCHECK=1
:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,NOP0FCHECK=1

Now, regarding authentication. That happens via mysql. There were a few
issues with that when CentOS5 (and some Fedora version I don't remember)
came out. I also think that you need to adjust the softlimit setting for
x64 machines. Is your toaster x64 or i386? What does this command show?:

# qtp-whatami

Not QMT just a frontend. All mail is received by this frontend and
then relayed to QMT wich is still in IPV4.

We are waiting for the ISP to stop f***k things to try to go live on
IPV6 (the IPV6 link won't stay up running for than a few hours...).
Still will take sometime to move that server to production since we
still have to test all RBL's , route rules, DNS, and verify if we can
sucefully stop SPAM in IPV6...

I have the patch for IPv6 and tcpserver (plus this qmail patch you
supplied). I just have no way to test here as I do not have any IPv6
routers to test the setup on. I asked on the development list, but
nobody there had a working IPv6 setup either. I suspect that it will be
4-5 years before we see a big push for IPv6 to be honest. There's just
too much equipment out there that does not support it for a
quick/seamless transition.

Just trying to be proactive with QMT and IPv6.

IPv6 is supposed to be IPv4 backward compatible, so anything that runs
IPv4 now will continue to work even after IPv6 is deployed. I'd just
like to do some testing on these patches and see if we cannot get native
IPv6 support working in QMT. I know that not many other mail server
software platforms support IPv6 yet.

Through squirrelmail. Through my mail client (outlook) I was receiving
an error message regarding authentication types but it just resolved
 itself with no appearant reason!?!

This is my tcp.smtp below I have another I saved as backup but I cut it
down to the simplest rules in order for it to work last time. I am
unable to send out now through web client although my outlook client
 works now.. (no clue why).

I'd like to fix it perminantly but I don't know why it starts
happening. I have a total of 7 emails across 3 domains on this server
so its not like there's a heavy load. And I'm the only person that has
any access to the server (console or direct) so no changes happen
without me doing them so I'm clueless.

I presume your toaster is fairly current (you didn't mention any
versions).

It appears that your toaster in unable to authenticate. The tcp.smtp
file is the wrong place to fix that. You should use the stock file, and
remember to qmailctl cdb whenever you change it. Here's the file I
have:

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private,
 RBLSMTPD=,NOP0FCHECK=1

:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRON

GRCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan,DKSIGN=/var/qmail/cont
 rol/domainkeys/%/private,NOP0FCHECK=1
Now, regarding authentication. That happens via mysql. There were a few

It sounds like your Squirrelmail config got messed up and it is not
authenticating. Run the conf.pl file (or remove squirrelmail-toaster and
then reinstall) to make sure that it's authenticating.
You yum probably busted because it wanted some files and was not able to
get them since yum for FC6 went dead a couple years ago.

[qmailtoaster] Mail archiving using taps

2009-04-03 Thread senthil vel
Hi list,

We need to set up an individual mail back up
(Incoming/Outgoing). In a server, we have created two domains.

example.com and bak.example.com. bak.example.com is a dummy domain
which doesnt have any DNS records. Wrote individual rules in taps
file.

like

a...@example.com:a...@bak.example.com
b...@example.com:b...@bak.example.com

Its working fine for other domain mails. but if user a sends a mail to
user b, the mail is copied in the mail backup id of a(out going) but
it does not copied in the back up mail box of b(In coming)

is there any alternative to achieve to copy all the mails?

Thanks and Regards,
S.Senthilvel,

It sounds like your Squirrelmail config got messed up and it is not
authenticating. Run the conf.pl file (or remove squirrelmail-toaster
and

then reinstall) to make sure that it's authenticating.
You yum probably busted because it wanted some files and was not able
to

get them since yum for FC6 went dead a couple years ago.

I think your right on my yum issue which presses the issue I need to
upgrade soon.

Also, on the telnet commands, your right. I fat fingered the commands

Ok, so that was a bad guess. :( Looks like authentication's fine.
On to scanning. simscan/clamav is the likely culprit at this point.
Unfortunately, the first thing you'll want to do in this case is upgrade
clamav. (what version are you running btw?)

If you've any possibility of upgrading the whole thing, that would be a
wise thing to do. You'll likely spend more time troubleshooting the
existing problem than it'd take to rebuild a fresh new toaster. And the
reality is that you might not even be able to fix it w/out upgrading clamav.

If it is spamassassin or clam, can't you temporarily disable those by

Hey Gilbert. :)

You can, but I'm not sure what that would buy you. The problem does
appear to be scanning related. I think it's odd though that incoming
mail apparently processes just fine, while outbound/submissions are the
problem.

I'm wondering now if there isn't a problem with a queue or the
/var/qmail/simscan directory. Glen, is /var/qmail/simscan empty? It
should be except for messages being scanned. Also, what does qmHandle

I don't think it's a problem with the queue though, I'm able to receive just

/var/qmail/simscan doesn't exist? Whoa. That's where simscan puts
temporary files for scanning, one directory per message:

# ls -ld /var/qmail/simscan
drwxr-x--- 2 clamav root 4096 Apr 3 13:35 /var/qmail/simscan

If you're receiving messages ok, I'm betting that they're not being
scanned at all, by spamassassin or clamav. You can't send anything
because outbound messages are scanned by clamav by default.

I would:
# mkdir /var/qmail/simscan
# chmod 750 /var/qmail/simscan
# chown clamav:root /var/qmail/simscan
and see if that doesn't fix things up.

BTW, what does your /var/qmail/control/simcontrol contain?

If you have your simscan-toaster.*.i386.rpm around, you might try:
# rpm -Uvh --replacefiles --replacepkgs simscan-toaster.*.i386.rpm
That should restore that directory as well.

is there any alternative to achieve to copy all the mails?

It does this because of the way locals are delivered. They're delivered
using a different method than mail coming from the outside.
There is no other alternative to archiving all mails unless you want to
write some scripts to do what you need.

I don't think it's a problem with the queue though, I'm able to receive
just fine. Just received an email about 10 min ago and I can send test
emails from another account to 1 on this server just fine. Just can't
send from any client now. I was able to send from outlook before, now
 it fails.

/var/qmail/simscan doesn't exist? Whoa. That's where simscan puts
temporary files for scanning, one directory per message:

 # ls -ld /var/qmail/simscan
 drwxr-x--- 2 clamav root 4096 Apr 3 13:35 /var/qmail/simscan

If you're receiving messages ok, I'm betting that they're not being
scanned at all, by spamassassin or clamav. You can't send anything
because outbound messages are scanned by clamav by default.

 I would:
 # mkdir /var/qmail/simscan
 # chmod 750 /var/qmail/simscan
 # chown clamav:root /var/qmail/simscan
and see if that doesn't fix things up.

BTW, what does your /var/qmail/control/simcontrol contain?

 #ls

no such file... k so I now have the feeling my email server has been
subject
to virus/spam. Which is pretty obvious given the build. My question is,
why didn't those files/directories build when I made this server a few
years
ago? I think I'm pretty glad I've decided to upgrade. 7 hours on the ISO
 for CentOS though...

I created the Dir. Same result. Unable to exec qq 4.3.0

If you have your simscan-toaster.*.i386.rpm around, you might try:
# rpm -Uvh --replacefiles --replacepkgs simscan-toaster.*.i386.rpm
That should restore that directory as well.

That seems to have fixed the client login and email issue for now. At least
I can use an email client (outlook) is working yet the webmail is not and
that's a different issue I'm not going to worry about that 1 for now.
Since I'm going to upgrade the entire server anyway, it's a moved point.
For now at least I have email functionality.

Thx for the assistance.

Glen
