Hello 9Val, A reminder of what 9Val on TBBETA typed on: 03 May 2005 at 23:49:47 GMT +0200 9 Incorrect comparision. It's a perfect analogy. If I built a shoddy house people would lose confidence in my ability to build houses and buy them from elsewhere. If you release a shoddy software program to the public full of bugs people will lose confidence in you and go buy Eudora or continue with Outlook Express. I'm not talking from my point of view, I signed up voluntarily to test shoddy software as did everyone on this list and I expect it to be full of holes. I also expect my time and opinion to have a certain amount of value and not be totally ignored. Many people on here have reported what for them are show stopper glitches, a great many of which have been ignored and never fixed even though they are long standing issues. 9 I think only 5-10 users from this list can make real conclusions about 9 team members reputation. Hello Alto, M What do you actually mean by not being able to use standard LF/CR M handling in the editor? With Auto Format On you can't make a paragraph (by pressing Return) without inserting an empty line after it. If you try it the next line is drawn back to append the previous one - as it should not be. OK, understand. The thing is that I don't mind a blank line between paragraphs. Stay away from the alphas with the many files, until a more advanced package is released for testing. This was from v3.0.9.18. If it was migration from full release to another full release version that no longer used certain files, then it's up to RIT to ensure that the obsolete files are removed, especially if they interfere with operations of the new version. Hi Gleason, GP So we can remove many of the problems we see by uninstalling TB, GP deleting the left over directories, and reinstalling? Never said anything like this. Hello George, A reminder of what George M. I don't think I was at all harsh. I just said what everyone else is thinking. I've not seen any replies to the contrary anyway, other than from 9Val. And he has every right to defend his position but I do resent him suggesting I was flaming. I'm just confused at the name. I can't get my head around the fact that RC can even be considered as a name when so much work quite obviously has to be done before it can be released. I thought 9Val was assuring us that all these bugs would be fixed before it's release but then he covered himself by saying he was only referring to temporary files, no promise of fixing all know bugs before the release. Lets just wait and see what the actual release performs like. If it contains even a single known bug then we'll know that our job as beta testers is pointless. After all, what's the point of us reporting bugs if they just ignore the majority of them and go ahead and release the program anyway, complete with all the bugs. Just look at the main purpose of this release - it has new GUI system. All our efforts are dedicated to it. Sure, we have fixed some other bugs, but look to Peter's list, it is mostly cleared. Hello Tony, TB If I built a house (I'm a Bricklayer) that had a leaky roof, I'd fix that TB roof before starting to build another house. Otherwise I might end up TB with a whole street full of houses all with roofs that leak and I'd TB probably end up with a bad reputation as a builder not to mention a TB street full of houses I couldn't sell. Incorrect comparision. House is built once. It has a project to satisfy all needs of customer or group of customers. That customer pays fully for all project work. When project is finished it is not changed (cosmetical changes rarely leak roof ;-) ). Software is from different category. One of the major differences - it always changes. Sometimes only cosmetical, sometimes it needs change of roof, sometimes walls are reconstructed. It is made for wider usage (I mean shareware) and therefore will never achieve the same stability and efficiency like custom planned and made program. Like houses, builded for offices or living will never be the same comfortable and beautiful like private houses. TB Professional reputation is the same be it for a road sweep or a software TB programmer. Agree, but end-user of road couldn't appreciate the work of each person of road-makers, he could appreciate only the road itself and make conclusions about road-maker company. Same with developers - I think only 5-10 users from this list can make real conclusions about team members reputation. -- 9Val Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello Alto, But you apparently chose to blatantly ignore the fact that you're selling a non-functioning product and you don't give a hoot about it! Calm down bit. How many e-mail clients are there available in the market? Why choose The Bat!? No software of this kind will ever satisfy every user 100%. If your % of satisfaction with TB is as low as it seems from your message, why suffer? Go find another one. In your previous post you mentioned you tried Thunderbird, Opera, Mulberry, why not stick with one of them? Because they don't have some of the functionality TB has and you like? Well, you can always ask their corresponding manufacturers to include what you want in a new version, can't you? Let's be reasonable. We are talking about a magnificent and quite complex piece of software (and therefore with bugs) that anyone can purchase for only 35 Euro after evaluating it for one whole month. If after purchasing and using it for some time (years in your case, I think) someone finds his/her % of satisfaction is low, why suffer? Re: The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 is now available
Hi all and especially 9Val, 9 The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 is now available from: 9 http://www.ritlabs.com/en/tbbeta/ I've been browsing on the list for quite a while now but so far refrained from trying a beta myself because after each release there seemed to be quite some unresolved bugs. Since the newest version is called RC I decided to give it a shot. Gentlemen, no offense, but - it took you twenty betas to come up with _this_?? In the not even ten minutes I testet I got AVs (in the exact same place as with the last release version!), the UI showed bugs (slight, non critical ones to be fair) and, worst of all, the IMAP has not improved one single scratch! I set IMAP to five connections and requestet new mail. Four of the five connections were gone in the blink of an eye, the last one (sync inbox, the only one that really had work to do) hung as usual. On watching the line I could witness that as with the previous release version not one single byte was transfered, TheBat was just sitting there doing nothing - again, as usual. I've heard over and over that the problem with IMAP would not be one of TheBat but with my provider, GMX. This is a lousy excuse for not being able to hack it. (Sorry, but that is the precise description for the situation.) Any other IMAP-client I tried (Thunderbird, Opera, Mulberry) has absolutely no problem with GMX. Either fix the IMAP or admit failure and remove it. What I've seen today is no RC, it does hardly warrant a 0.0.0.1 version number increase! Highly disappointed that in all the time since 3.0.1.33, RIT did - to effect - not a darn thing, Alto -- MfG, Altomailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] pgpVn2f0oxudW.pgp Description: PGP signature Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Not bad at all but it had problems as I already posted. A couple have been addressed and seem to work. However, this RC1 has backslid quite significantly. I'm now revisited by the problem of auto-filtering working only sporadically. I no longer experience reasonably smooth IMAP operations, with their being frequent unexpected delays with messages being loaded and at times, requiring reloading for me to see a message body. The same happens for folders on initially opening them. Quite often, nothing happens, with my having to select another folder then returning to the one I originally wanted to browse before it finally loads as it should. The troubling part is the inconsistency. My worsening problems quite likely is accompanied by the opposite experience for others in that things have improved for them. -- Allie Martin System specs: http://www.ac-martin.com/sysspecs.htm -=-=- The only thing shorter than a weekend is a vacation. Quite often, nothing happens, with my having to select another folder then returning to the one I originally wanted to browse before it finally loads as it should. snip I totally agree. I have the same problems you mention under the exact seem circumstances. Hi 9Val, Forgot to say. If you'll find something wrong with icon sizes - remove batskin.xml and restart And secodn - there could be problem with toolbars menu. It has 2 solutions: 1. complete delete of tbuser.def 2. Hello Gleason, That's certainly a pity (and a PITA) for my old tired eyes that have problems differentiating the slightly different shades of blue of older, etc. This could be the solution for the half icons that were visible throughout the program. The half icons are now full. I never had the half icons problem. But even the toolbar icons are now small. I like having toolbar icons larger. The little marker icons can be smaller. Yes, it is hard to tell what the toolbar icons are when they are so small. They are the same size as with previous betas for me. Hmmm! Re: The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 is now available
9Val, Confirm that icon sizes are not cut in half throughout the program. Confirm that check box functions are no longer reversed. Loading the Imap folder hierarchy at program startup remains a problem. The first time, I get two inboxes with folder lists. Second time I get three, Third time I get four, etc. Opening the Manage IMAP Folders windows corrects the situation. After that, TB will return to starting with two lists next time. The lists at start are no longer scrambled, and are complete except for one folder containing 42 subfolders. -- Gleason Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
