Mark,

Our IT support staff uses AccuTerm 2K2. It has a file transfer feature
available. Search the on-line help document for FT or FTBP. The client
can transfer files, databases, or data records. Nearly everything in a
session is programmable with a scripting language similar to Visual Basic.

At 07:51 PM 4/28/2004, you wrote:

2 new clients both have accuterm and I'm wondering if their file transfer
(import/export) facilities are programmable or are manually managed. Also,
is there the equivilent of WIN.PCRUN.

I can always install wintegrate but I may not want to rock the boat.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone use the scheduler feature in Wintegrate?

2004-04-15 Thread Erick Dukes
Hope someone can help with this or point me in the right direction.

I am using a licensed copy of Wintegrate ver 5.1.3. I am trying to set the
scheduler up to run a multi-file script every morning, which runs perfectly
if started manually. No matter what user/password combination I use (all of
which work fine when I manually telnet into our system) the scheduler fails.
This is what I see in the log file;

04/08/0410:54:29=== Scheduler started ===
04/08/0410:54:29Daily Downloads started
04/08/0410:54:39Login failed: Error:
Unexpected reply after entering user name
04/08/0410:54:39Finished Daily Downloads
04/08/0410:55:19=== Scheduler stopped ===

I have even gone so far as to create a user id in sam without a password
requirement to make sure that was not the problem. So here is what I get
when I manually telnet:

HP-UX venus B.11.11 U 9000/800 (tv)

login: daily
Password:
Please wait...checking for disk quotas

Current UniData home is /usr/ud52/.
Current working directory is /usr1/QOP.
The default lock action has set, the interval is 5 seconds .
PIT Control Function Reset.

::

This is at the prompt it should be at in order to run a script, however, as
I said, when trying to use the scheduler it gives the same error as
mentioned above "Unexpected reply after entering user name" What IS the
expected reply it is looking for?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Les,

wIntegrate requires that the session interact with the WIN.IMPORT and other
file transfer routines when transfering files from HOST to PC and vice versa.

Your best bet is to simply dedicate that session for the transfer (minimize
it), and use another wIntegrate session to do whatever you need to do.

IIRC wIntegrate used with U2 (using device licensing) will give you upto 10
connections from the same PC with only one licence used on the server.

Anthony Corrente.

RE: Help on Initiating Wintegrate Import/Export Routine From TCL or as aSubroutine Call

2004-03-05 Thread Elizabeth Schmitt
Every capability of wIntegrate can be driven from the host. Around 300
subroutines are supplied to cover the most popular functions. They are
documented in the wIntegrate Host Subroutines Reference manual available
free for download at:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/u2/pubs/library/wintegrate/index.html

To transfer data to/from the PC you would use the WIN.IMPORT or WIN.EXPORT
subroutines. We do not supply TCL statements but you could create your own
using the subroutines. You might prefer to save typing by using the Query
Builder which can save/rerun imports (but not exports), and prompt for
criteria at runtime. Saved queries are automatically available in a
dropdown in the Query Builder toolbar, so end-users don't have to navigate
a complex dialog just to run a query.

Help on Initiating Wintegrate Import/Export Routine From TCL or as a

I would like any advice on initiating import &/or export macros in
Wintegrate either
directly from TCL or as a subroutine call. We have a requirement for
lots of these
processes, but the problem is that the contents of the macro can be
variable, &
sometimes users don't realise this or enter the wrong thing. If they
could be
initiated from either TCL, or called via a subroutine in Universe (or
both), then that
would be great. I would be grateful if anyone can provide examples, or
souce

RE: Connecting to Unidata using Wintegrate SSL

2004-03-01 Thread alfkec
Which part are you having trouble with? I haven't used Wintegrate, but I
have got it working with Dynamic connect. You have to make sure that you
have DC setup correctly and have the correct terminal type defined in SB+.

DC
Setup/Terminal/Terminal emulation = vt100 (or vt220 works)
Setup/Terminal/Extensions = sb & sb_keys

SB+
Terminal Emulation = Winteg2.4, Winteg2.5, or TERMITE.COL (would make a copy
of this and call it something else)

Wintegrate should have something very similar. Of course doing it this way
will lose the 'GUI' aspect of SBClient.

Hi Ian

I have finally managed to get wIntegrate 5.1 to connect via SSL, it appears I had a

At least now I can login but am still looking at the authentication options available.

Having got wIntegrate 5.1 to work I tried Dynamic Connect, and it seems that the info

Thanks for your inputs

Ah I see. Unless I mis-understand I meant the possibility of wintegrate emulating the
xterm terminal emulation

$ infocmp xterm | head -2
# Reconstructed via infocmp from file: /usr/share/terminfo/x/xterm
xterm|X11 terminal emulator,

As opposed to emulating the xterm program
$ which xterm
/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm

Which also happens to use the xterm terminal emulation although IIRC some of the other
versions of xterm such as the kde or gnome versions can also emulate a vt100 or
possibly ansi (it's been a while since I looked).

Isn't it a bit daft to emulate an emulator? If you like
wIntegrate, just run that in a wine box and tell the app you're using
wIntegrate.

Has anybody had success running wIntegrate or Dynamic Connect in a wine
box on Linux. I have tried using crossover from Codeweaver to install

appears to go into "loop" where the cursor flashes all over the screen

For various historical reasons, we are currently using a hacked version
of the wyse60 emulation. This works OK with our U2 app but fails on any
other app that properly uses terminfo. We could hack the terminfo as
well but of course the correct thing to do is get our use of eumlations

As we are moving to Linux at the moment I thought I would take the

wintegrate correctly emulate either xterm or linux type terminals. The
way to do this would seem to create my own wit file but I was wondering
if someone had already been down this road and would mind sharing.

wIntegrate editor crashing

2004-02-23 Thread Wendy Smoak

A long time ago, I had a weird problem with the wIntegrate editor. It
crashes if you press shift-home and then delete.

I talked with the people who wrote the editor, and actually got a new
version with that keystroke disabled, so that I could at least stop
crashing and losing work. The fix was to have been put into a later
version.

Since then I got a new PC, and lost my updated version of the wIntegrate
editor. The image that our PC guys use to build machines has version
4.2.1 of the editor.

I looked for a client software CD for UniData 6.0, but I don't see
anything. I can only find the UniData CD and one with documentation.

So... What's the latest wIntegrate editor version, or at least the one
that would have come with UD6?

Should I have it here somewhere? Is it possibly included with the
personal edition? Does anyone know who I might have been talking to, in
the event this fix didn't get into the latest version?

(Calling our VAR is not likely to be helpful. They have disabled the
editor in their wIntegrate distribution, and as far as they're
concerned, it doesn't exist. We have to reconfigure wIntegrate to be
able to use it.)

Are we agreeing that WIN.PCRUN would be the best way to 'launch' pictures if
they're stored on a shared Windows drive. Yo No Habla Samba.

Dear All,

Has anyone managed to get winteg 4.2 to emulate xterm or linux terminal

Looking at wintegrate if I put together a .wit and put it in wintsys/wit

Re: WinteGrate

2004-02-21 Thread Mark Johnson
My assumption is based that at least one of your wintegrate users has
uploaded the host programs from their PC to the host system
(UD/UV/D3/AP-Pro/Microdata whatever) into the file called WIN.PROGS.

If you are doing any file transfers (in or out) with wintegrate, then i
believe that they depend on WIN.PROGS. If that's true, WIN.PCRUN came along
for the ride.

I dont' understand the phrase 'UNIVERSE wants to open'. If the pictures are
stored on the 'nix box, then i can't help you. If they're somewhere on a
windows filespace available to that user, then use WIN.PCRUN. If UNIVERSE
itself has a picture viewer, then i can't help you as i don't know what it
is.

mark johnson

visit www.icecreamproducts.com and see around 1,100 product pictures that
are available to the web visitor as well as to anyone going into product
maintenance with wintegrate on a D3 (whatever) system..

Of course you assume the system has such a command CALL WIN.PCRUN
and you are opening up the same picture over and over using that.
I was specifying a way to open whatever picture UNIVERSE wants to open, as
opposed to whatever picture WINDOWS wants to open.

Re: WinteGrate

2004-02-21 Thread Mark Johnson
A simpler way would be:

PCFILE="C:\FOLDER\PICTURE.JPEG"
CALL WIN.PCRUN("IEXPLORE", PCFILE)

It opens up a new window with the aforementioned picture.

You can also pass URL's that you fabricate to open up very useful windows.
Two that i use are:

www.maps.yahoo.com\&address=123&main&street&zip=12345

and
www.ups.com/tracking/1Z12345678901234567

These are fictious urls, but you can visit both UPS/Fedex and/or
Mapquest/Yahoo or any other map-like site and cut & paste the real URL and
modify the variable portion. Brings green screen users a little closer to
the nice feel of the windows world.

All of my UPS clients use the UPS concept and 3 of mine with 'truck' use the
map concept.

my 3 cents.

Barry store all the jpegs in a shared windows directory on your network
In Universe have your program tell Wintegrate to "write the following path
into the clipboard" blah blah blah (the path of the image in the shared Windows
directory)
Then in your Universe program tell Wintegrate to execute its script
"showjpg.scr" or something like that (you create this script in a shared location as
well)
The Wintegrate script merely launches whatever it finds in the clipboard

Re: wIntegrate Lookup Box

If I remember correctly, wIntegrate 3.? is a 16 bit Windows application.
Your probably hitting a 16 bit limitation. Strongly suggest upgrading with
wIntegrate 4.? or higher which is 32 bit application. I encountered a
similiar issue with setting up a menuing system with over 2000 menu options.
Upgrading resolved my issue.

But what if IE is not the default viewer for jpegs or pdfs? (admittedly
this is a home setup, but I've barred IE from accessing the network!).

As I said, I think invoking the document will fire up the default
viewer, but although I know it can be done I'm not certain whether that
is the way or not.

Charles,
Thanks for the plug on the Nucleus / Accuterm Graphical User Interface,
however a note of extreme caution:

I would only recommend Nucleus:
* to those who just want to get the job done without having to re-invent the
wheel
* to those who have no desire to make a career of learning about gui objects
and their attendent complexity
* to those who want the grunt work done for them

I would NOT recommend Nucleus if:
* one has lots of time on one's hands and merely needs to look busy
* one wishes to learn about GUI objects in order to get out of pick/U2
* you need to justify your existence and make your boss think that you are
actually accomplishing something by spending three days to create a GUI
screen using object calls that you could have created in ten minutes with
Nucleus.
* you have an overwhelming desire to increase your maintenance efforts by
requiring separate rules for both GUI and character.

RE: Wintegrate, UD

2004-02-16 Thread Gerral Hubbard
Björn

I would start with loading the host subroutines onto my MV platform.

Check the \Program Files\Wintegrate\Host directory.  There's a script called
Inst_Pgm.wis you can call it from the wintegrate Run->Script menu. It will install
the MV API on your host, make sure you're in an account you want to do this to.

There are a number of host demo programs on the host that you can run and take apart
to see how it all fits together, and shows different techniques. There's also
numerious examples loaded on witegrate dealing with dialogs that are run externally
from the host.

I've used both the dialog designer using external wis files, and creating the dialogs
within universe code. There's advantages to both. I'm currently designing a program
basic program that will take a file created using the dialog designer and create a
basic program equivalent.

RE: wIntegrate Trial Version

2004-02-13 Thread Gerral Hubbard
The current version of wintegrate ships with a client server version as
well as the standard telnet. The thin client requires the wintegrate
server to be installed on a network server. The thin client installs
only 30k on the desktop PC.

Advantages to the wintegrate server is that there is a single point of
maintainence, and tight control over sessions and configurations. It
acts as a true client server environment with all of the COM/DCOM and
other client server perks. It also enables you to visibly monitor and
control other user's sessions, sort of like Tandem in the Unix version
of Universe, but in a GUI setting. It's really nice when you're using
the wintegrate GUI language independent of the MV host.

Disadvatages are that the telnet traffic hits the wintegrate server
first before going to the thin client on the desktop, plus if the
wintegrate server goes down, everyone loses wintegrate.

IMHO, the wintegrate server is great in a very large scale and
geographically dispersed environment and using SMS, but if you're in a
user setting of under 50 the additional overhead is overkill.

The Host routines that load onto Universe are a separate function and
are independent of the client server environment. I think they come
loaded with the trial version, but I don't recall.

I don't think the server version is available on the free download.

I've found the server version to require a lot of overhead on the host
server, plus it increases latency especially on WANs.

The trial version gives you 100% of wIntegrate otherwise.

I spent a few hours trying to get this to go and failed. I would be interested if
anyone did get it going.

According to the overview, Winteg 5.1 now supports SSL as well.

minutes to play with it.

Re Ian Foster's original question - if you're wedded to SSL for some reason
you may want to take a look at stunnel (www.stunnel.org). It looks like it
would be a lot more work to set up than SSH via Putty though.

I have not done it but here is a write up IBM put out in a newsletter on
how to make a SSH tunnel. I think this is what you were looking for as
opposed to SSL.

Using SSH security with wIntegrate

DESCRIPTION:

*Secure Shell (SSH), sometimes known as Secure Socket Shell,
is a Unix-based command interface and protocol for securely
getting access to a remote computer. It is widely used by
network administrators to control Web and other kinds of
servers remotely. SSH is actually a suite of three utilities -
slogin, ssh, and scp - that are secure versions of the earlier
UNIX utilities, rlogin, rsh, and rcp. SSH commands are encrypted
and secure in several ways. Both ends of the client/server
connection are authenticated using a digital certificate,
and passwords are protected by being encrypted.
SSH uses RSA public key cryptography for both connection and
authentication. Encryption algorithms include Blowfish, DES,
and IDEA. IDEA is the default.
*from searchSecurity.com

wIntegrate does not provide support for SSH, however, you
can download a free implementation of telnet and SSH for
Windows, then modify the wIntegrate Dialer script to use it.
Our thanks to Ian Renfrew of Peartree Software for this tip!

CONTENT:

PuTTY

PuTTY is a free Win32 telnet/SSH client that can be downloaded
from the following URL:
http://www.ibm.com/cgi-bin/software/track0.cgi?i=17663&c=26923&o=11&ef=T&cn=1456097

Install it to the wIntegrate home directory.

DIALER.WIS

Using any text editor, modify \\wintsys\script\dialer.wis.
To have the Dialer start automatically when you open the
session, add the entry 'wIntsys\Script\Dialer.wis' to
the list of scripts to load. Otherwise, simply click
Run | Dialer on the wIntegrate menu.
To use SSH, start a wIntegrate session. In the Dialer
dialog, select an entry that has a number to dial in the format:
SSH_IP_address:Port:Telnet_IP_address

For example,

999.999.999.999:22:999.999.999.999

PuTTY starts and you login to the system running SSH on
the server side. Once you have logged in via PuTTY, access
the wIntegrate session window. Press return to establish
a connection to the telnet IP address.
This will allow you to easily implement a secure connection
using SSH.
**Note, PuTTY is not provided nor supported by IBM.
PROGRAM:

Replace:

Using the Telnet via SSL feature on wIntegrate and uniVerse 10.1

2004-02-11 Thread ACS Staff Member
Hi

Please ignore previous post where Dynamic Connect was mentioned.

Has anyone had any success setting up wIntegrate 5.1 to connect to a
uniVerse 10.1 server using the Telnet via SSL feature.

I have tried following the defaults in uniAdmin and have read the uniVerse
10.1 New Features pdf manual but to no avail.

Anyone had any luck

Yes.

Execute the script 'example/script/wc.wis'.

The STYLE for this script reads:
Style WS_CAPTION|WS_POPUP|WS_VISIBLE|WS_SYSMENU|WS_MINIMIZEBOX|WS_GROUP

wIntegrate script- dialog box?

2004-02-09 Thread Barry Brevik
wIntegrate v4.2.3.

Is it possible to create a dialog box in a client-side script that is
Non-Modal? When I use the dialog box editor, I don't get a choice, and it
always creates a script that has a line like this:

Style WS_CAPTION|WS_POPUP|WS_VISIBLE|WS_SYSMENU|DS_MODALFRAME

The docs I got from the IBM site don't talk about the DS_MODALFRAME
property, or if there is an alternative.

Sure,you could create a subroutine that writes a wintegrate script to their
device...

  EQU ESC TO CHAR(27), SOH TO CHAR(1)
  EQU STX TO CHAR(2), CR TO CHAR(13)

  WSCRIPT=ESC:SOH:'Global SKS446=':QUOTE(MESSAGE):CR
  WSCRIPT:=ESC:SOH:'Global HScript='
  WSCRIPT:='BStoAscii(`Loop\r'
  WSCRIPT:='Response = MessageBox(SKS446,'
  WSCRIPT:='"Message from ':MYNAME
  WSCRIPT:='",MB_ICONASTERISK|MB_OKCANCEL|MB_DEFBUTTON2)\r'
  WSCRIPT:='Until Response = "OK"\r'
  WSCRIPT:='Repeat'
  WSCRIPT:='`)':CR
  WSCRIPT:=ESC:SOH:'Convert HScript,char(254),cr':CR
  WSCRIPT:=ESC:SOH:'Execute HScript':

  OPENSEQ TTYNAME TO TTY$FD THEN
  MAXN=LEN(WSCRIPT)
  FOR N=1 TO MAXN STEP 80
 TEMP=WSCRIPT[N,80]
 WRITEBLK TEMP ON TTY$FD THEN WRITTEN=1
  NEXT N
  CLOSESEQ TTY$FD

One of the guru's on the list can probably come up with a better solution
but this works pretty well for me. This is not the complete subroutine.

Hope this helps ya.

Re: Wintegrate message box

2004-02-09 Thread Bryan Thorell
You could do it if your application has a single piece of code that
handles the input of data, in this area you could have it loop and check
for a message that needed to pop up when not getting characters. You
may also be able to tap into the windows messenger service to send
messages to users (on windows platforms).
