[videoblogging] Re: Whats Important Video Podcast - Australia (editing question)

2005-11-24 Thread Susan
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but when I
read multi-panel you make it sound like viewing more than one
video at a time, like half the screen on one topic and half the
screen on something else. I use Roxio software, which allows this
type of stuff through what are called overlays. Oh, and I'm on a

[videoblogging] Re: Stop this petty Squabbling

2005-11-22 Thread Susan
http://vlog.kitykity.com

I post a new video every day. Each one is an average of three minutes
long.

Some people may not think my content is interesting, but I tailor to
an audience, I suppose... an audience of people like me... working
moms, of course.

Josh is right about traffic. Look at the big picture. When I go to
the feedburner site, I always view statistics from the beginning of my
vlogging time to now. Sure enough, the graph is going gradually up.
I get an average of 5 more daily feed pings per week.

Even if no one at all read my vlog, my most important audience is four
people--two grandparents in Maine, and two grandparents in Texas.
They love seeing their grandsugars on a daily basis.

I've been reading this group for the last week or so and have been
officially video podcasting for a about the same time.

What I find perplexing is the hand wringing over Rocketboom and it's
perceived slights to the video podcasting community.

 1. People have been trying to break into the television business by
using
streaming video for the last ten years. It's only been in the last
year or
so that there has been a tipping point of cheap broadband and easy
access to
video technology that allows people to really be creative. And radio
stations have been trying to do the same thing with streaming their
audio on
 the web.

It was only with the invention of RSS and the ability to whip off an MP3
that podcasting and internet radio became a phenomenon.

 2. Old media has money, and they solve problems with money. They're
able to
show up everyday with hours of fresh and good looking programming
because
they have money. Rocket Boom is the best in class video podcast. Not
because
it's clever, or has amazing production values, but because it shows up
everyday. That consistency has a tremendous value. And I would say that
anyone who is jealous of that or thinks they can do better to just
do it.
There is nothing stopping you. RB has a tremendous room for
improvement --
as does any human endeavour. If you can do better, please do.

Video blogging and video podcasts in general are enjoyable because
they have
immediacy and an unfiltered perspective that people crave. My
favorite video
podcast right now is http://TikiBarTv.com -- it has a really fun
perspective
that I don't see anywhere else and great production value. But it
only comes
out once a month. If their were RSS feeds for
http://Homestarrunner.com and
http://Roosterteeth.com I jump on them in a second.

 3. The iPod video is the first mass appeal gadget designed to work with
downloaded video. The PSP could do it before, but it's kind of a
pain and
Sony would prefer you bought UMD movies. The video iPod gives us as
content
creators a tool -- it plays on the Video iPod. Which means people with
quicktime or players of similar compatibility (PSPs included) will
also be
 able to see our work.

 4. The real future for all of this is being able to send our video
material
not only to pocket level devices like iPods and PSPs, but when Tivos
themselves will reed mRSS feeds and be able to subscribe to your
favorite
 podcasts on your TV.

 5. It seems obvious that the popular content producers will be
co-opted by
big media if they let themselves. While the artists and iconoclasts will
 remain small and personal.

 6. We are in the period of video podcasting and video P2P sharing
right now
where music was 8 years ago. There's a lot of dedicated hobbyists
out there
who collect TV shows and movies from the net and trade them. But
soon Big
Media will aggressively enter this market. iTunes has started it,
and the
Howard Stern deal and others have started to make consumers
comfortable with
the idea of getting the shows they want when they want them, rather than
being broadcast at an arbitrary time.

 7. What does this all mean for this group of 1600ish people reading
this?
Get good at creating video that people want to watch. If you can
establish
yourself right now when there are less than 200 video podcasts on
Podcast
Alley you're going to have a better chance at 'winning' in the end.
And what
does winning even mean? Does it mean having podcast geeks swarm you like
Dawn and Drew did at the Podcast expo? Getting a show on MTV?

For me video podcasting is the synthesis of years of filmmaking and
trying
to break through into Hollywood. It allows me an avenue to find an
audience
without going through a gatekeeper. If people like what I'm doing
they'll
 come back for more.

The MacDevCenter's (and former Lifehacker Associate Editor) Erica Sadun
has discovered an interesting quirk about the fifth generation video
iPod that could save you some money this Christmas.

You don't have to fork out for an outrageously priced proprietary
Apple video cable. You don't even have to buy an expensive dock. You
can connect your Video iPod directly to a TV, and you can do it with
the ordinary camcorder A/V-to-RCA cable you probably already have lying
 around your house.
The simple trick is that the video outputs to the red RCA jack rather
than the traditional yellow. With that little trick, you'll probably
 save around ten bucks.

So... kinda lame, Apple, but whatever.

[videoblogging] Re: great post of police misbehavior

2005-11-22 Thread Susan
Hey! He said cheerleading. I vlog cheerleading.

http://www.kitykity.com/weblog.php/vlog/comments/2774/

Ok folks, now here's my two cents--my own, personal, two pennies.

I get bored by themed content. I do. I watch Rocketboom, but not
every day, even though it's in my FireANT--but I see that Josh Leo,
or Erin Nealey, have a new vlog post up, and I wonder, WOW! What is
THIS one about?

What is this one about? I don't know, because every day is COMPLETELY
different.

This is how my vlog posts are. Different. Sure, there might be a
ten-part series of me going to Boston, seeing an excellent concert
(plug for http://www.adamezra.com ), getting drunk, and buying bagels
afterwards; but that series ends at some point in time.

After that, as Monty Python would say, ...and now for something
completely different.

I like different, on a daily or weekly basis. Themes don't suit my
pallete, you might say. Not for long, anyways.

Or look at how Steve Garfield does it--sure, he has themes, but there
are many themes--CarolSteve, VlogSoup, multiple topics. So instead
of being stuck on one theme, you might instead call them...
categories... where, if you were anal enough, you could make separate
feeds for each category of vlog post.

Here's what Grammy thinks of themes... and, coincidentally, FireANT...
http://www.kitykity.com/weblog.php/vlog/comments/2760/
If all I had were two fans--my parents in Maine, and my in-laws in
Texas--I would be happy. Letting them see their grandkids and such on
a daily basis completely rocks. However... wow... I seem to have
fifty additional feed-pings per day besides them, which while sure
they could be duplicate people using different aggregators, is sure
more than five additional non-relative people. So I have no theme,
yet somehow I have some kind of audience, which seems to be growing by
about an average of five pingers a week.

I'm not digging any deeper than this. I'm not out for an argument.
But this has been spiraling around for so long, and I have been
wanting to speak my piece.

So peace.

Susan

wrote:

Oy, this whole conversation is like an exercise in not being able to
see the forest for the trees.

I think any difference really comes down to intended audience.

Rocketboom is trying to reach a different audience than many other
videoblogs. So far it has been successful in this regard. In doing so,
Rocketboom has raised the level of attention for all videoblogs and
for everyone producing and shaping this medium. It is also seen as a
beacon example in the mainstream media... and for good reason. It is
frequent and fresh, well written and produced, and cleverly plays off
many cliches found in mainstream media. It is familiar, yet something
 completely new in many respects.

Many videoblogs have little care for an audience beyond their friends
and family. One great thing about videoblogs is that you don't really
have to care about audience in order to be successful -- success is
relative to your individual goals. Because the medium is so open and
accessible to creators, you have the opportunity to define your own
goals instead of having them defined for you by the marketplace or
 other such gating factors.

The funny thing about vidoeblogs is that there's a side effect to
producing content in such a public medium -- what is originally
intended for a small audience of friends can quickly expand to a
larger, more generalized audience... it can even reach into the
mainstream media with coverage on TV, Radio, and Newspapers. I believe
Ryanne, Verdi, Josh Leo, and others have experienced this, and thus
attained a certain amount of personal celebrity, which is fun and
exciting. In some ways it may even drive the desire to create more
content because an audience materialized where you didn't expect it
to. I think that is very rewarding. Ryanne put it really well once
when she said I made a smoothie and a few hundred people gave a
 shit.

Its all valid, one way or the other, and all exemplary of major shifts
occuring due to the democratization of media.

Will it be used for more applied goals as Andrew Baron envisions?...
yes.
Will it be used for less concrete purposes too?... yes indeed, and
 perhaps more so.
Thank goodness that the medium is large enough and open enough to
 accomodate all.

I can't vouch for the latest version... but I have used Pinnacle in

Someday. Someday, I'd love to do this in Dallas. Maybe it will be my
New Year's resolution. But there are two things: first, I want to
see how many people in the Dallas area I can get interested in
videoblogging--my first presentation at the Apple store here in Plano,
TX is Dec. 10th at 3pm. Second is the time commitment--while I love
videoblogging, I have a family and two children, and it's difficult to
commit to the same hours every single week, like a node would need...
hopefully through the Apple store and such I can get a few partners in

[videoblogging] Tour De Vloggers

2005-11-15 Thread Susan
Hi folks!

Under Files, I have posted a document I'm calling Tour De Vloggers,
which lists each month and who has volunteered to have their city be a
host city for that month. I had an incredible response yesterday! If
you would like your city to host a meetup one month each year, please
cnotact me and let me know, from the months available, what month you
would like to host. I was holding out Boston, hoping I would hear
from Steve G. or someone else up there, since fall is so pretty in New
England, and many people have never gotten to see its splendor...

Check it out!

[videoblogging] Re: Proposition: Official Monthly Meetup Schedule

2005-11-14 Thread Susan
So thanks to Jay's prodding, here's my idea:

A once-a-month vloggers meetup, scheduled for the last weekend of each
month, primarily on Saturday with hangout times Friday and Sunday for
those who can hang around.

I'll post a document in the files section with the schedule--it will
list the month of the year, the town, and that town's
volunteer-organizer, and their contact information.

If you would like to be a volunteer-organizer for your town, please
let me know via email. I'll be contacting several of you that I know
are prominent vloggers in your area.

This will be great!

I am trying to set up a schedule so that someone can say, Boston's

month that people can count on.

And I am, in fact, organizing one in Dallas!

That is the way Howard Dean revolutionized political activity during
the last election. Anyone can do the same by simply organizing
vloggers in their area. Putting the meeting on the Vlog Calendar
would enable those who were going to be in a certain area to check out
vloggers there.

[videoblogging] Re: Playing vlog posts as songs

2005-11-09 Thread Susan
Don't panic!! :) There's hundreds of messages here, and I don't
always keep up.

diggnation, and also I have discovered Josh Leo's and a host of other
video blogs (which, aren't necessarily only m4v's--Josh's are .mov's)
will play as songs. What I mean, is on the new video ipod, on the
main screen, you have a songs heading and a videos heading.
Obviously you can play videos under videos. But most videos also
show up under the songs heading, and you can just listen to the
audio from the song and not play the video.

This is what I'm trying to make work on my own vlog.

I've been trying to do research... it doesn't seem to be m4v specific.
Some mov's will play. A couple of Josh's would play as songs. One
of RichardShow's would, one wouldn't. It's really driving me up the
freaking wall.

[videoblogging] Re: Does iTunes indicate somehow which videos will play in the iPod?

2005-11-09 Thread Susan
I only had 1-2 vlogs that wouldn't play on my ipod--and I have 30-40
vlog subscriptions. I would contact the owners of the vlogs that
won't play and let them know; maybe they will change the format of
their future posts.

[videoblogging] Fixing the keystone effect

2005-11-07 Thread Susan
Hi there!

I have a handful of photos I want to use in an upcoming video, and I
wanted to see if someone here has software that will fix the keystone
effect -- that is, like, if you look up at a building, and the top of
the building is smaller than the bottom of the building. Or if you
try to take a photo of a portrait high up on a wall. Anyways, this
keystone is not up-down like that, but rather side-side, as I was
taking a picture of some things while off to the side of them.

If someone has a few minutes to fix these pictures to me, please email
me and I'll send you a zip file of them. And thanks much!

Ok, I just stumbled across a GREAT lil' program that will DIRECTLY

even batch convert many files; and I've tested it - the results play
on the iPod! This is perfect for those who already have alot of
WMVs
 created.

The freely available version will convert any movie thats 5min or
less. (The full version is only 40 bucks I think and will do any
 length video.)

Man I wish I'd found this earlier.

All you do is point it at the WMVs you want to convert, and it zips
through saving a MOV of each. You can if you choose change the
 default MP4 encoding settings.

It will tell you all the bitrates that were used on the WMVs and you
can set similar bit rates if you want for the MOV. I set the MOV
bit
rates to be about that of the WMVs and the quality/fizesize was
right
 on.

Thanks to this lil' application I likely will go back and make my
old
vids available via QuickTime. I'll be able to set it once and come
back to a directory full of MOVs. (Rather than the lengthy
Import/Export/Import/Export process per movie otherwise required.)

I hope to do some more testing later on a PC that has 3ivx installed
(this one doesn't) to see if that'll work with the program.

2005-10-27 Thread Susan
I'm not sure if either is better than the other; but I did discover
something, that I was just discussing with Markus.

I noticed that some people's vlogs, like RichardShow.com , will play
the audio when I do shuffle songs. But others, (like my own) it
will just skip over my post and go to the next song--like it won't
just play the audio from my post.

I wonder if we can figure this one out?

The link is on the right hand side of my vlog page:

I do one click on it, and it opens iTunes and shows my video podcast

I can then just click subscribe to subscribe to it. So for me, two

Here are some of the most important things in my mind (they are very
 basic):

 - you have something to say. Try the videoblogweek for yourself and
at
first, you'll feel like what can I have possibly to say. Then you
 realize everything is interesting.

 - it's about connecting people and speaking truth. Vlog what you
really believe. It's a great exercise in not becoming the fake
person,
the corporate drone you always feared of becoming. I think people
become that way because they just lack the practice of saying what
 they really think.

 - small cameras (the elph for example) work fine. It's not about the
 gloss.

 - as you becom better, you can do most editing while filming.

 - make sure to always put your url at the end of a video. You don't
know where it might end up.

Eh, I think I might post these on my blog :)

Why not make an a href link, with text, to your feedburner feed,
then explain to the person in a few words how to drag it into itunes

 a href = http://feeds.feedburner.com/david-blah;
video podcast feed /a
br Click and hold on the link above,
 br Drag it into iTunes,
br and drop it on top of Podcasts.

You know, as many people in this forum are uncomfy with the

[videoblogging] Re: the most prolific vlogger

I've been posting pretty much one video a day for over a month
now... but I certainly don't put the time into the textual part of
each post like Bev does. She's a great lady!

[videoblogging] Re: Men are pigs.....so what will that mean for women vloggers

2005-10-16 Thread Susan
So this thread explains a lot--my vlog doesn't get a whole lot of
hits because not only are my posts boring, but I'm not the most
attractive woman in the world.

But wait--I'm not seen in 95% of my vlog posts.

I wouldn't say this topic is retarded. It NEEDS to be talked about.
There's not that many (ratio-wise) female vloggers out there right
now; and though personally I am comfy with posting my videos right
now, I hope that never changes.

For me, blogging started on LiveJournal, back in 2000. Back then,
people were on there because they wanted to be--because they wanted
to journal--not to flame or harass others. Then the teenagers and
stay-at-home moms discovered LJ... and well, the rest is drama-queen
history. I'm not really thrilled with the company there now. That's
why I have my own blog, on my own website, that next-to-no one has
access to.

My point is this--it's not just the men who harass the women--the
women harass the hell out of each other, too.

than a man selling the same product.

Most men like women. There's a handy fact. For instance, when I
watch
TikiBarTV I find myself distracted by the hot girl, and not paying
so much
attention to other things like writing and humor. An honest
declaration. It
works, for better or worse. It just works.

 3. Most vlogs are boring. I have only seen a few that rise above
the level of home movies. Poor writing, bad camera work and poor
  editing are way too common.

Most vlogs aren't really made to entertain. Those that are, well, I
can
agree. But most vlogs are made with an audience of only a few
friends in
mind. So writing really doesn't come into it. Bad camera work and
poor
editing are a symptom, if not a quality, of personal home videos,
which make
up the better part of the vlog universe.

If they're boring to you, well then you're not their audience.
Also, a lot of personal vlogs are out there because the vlogger
wants some
kind of social reaction to his/her videos. They aren't meant to
entertain,
just to connect to some other human.

Videoblogging as a social tool should be someone's essay.

 5. It's my opinion that sites such as Mobuzz and Rocketboom would
have no where the viewership if it wasn't for the attractive women
  they have.

 Undeniably true. But so what?

By the way, I cringe when I see Mobuzz and Rocketboom in the same
sentence.
That Mobuzz shit is depressingly bad, in every way. If I wanted to
see
really bad TV I'd watch really bad TV.

Wrapping up, I'll just say that this topic is retarded. Women are
women, men
are men. We all get along pretty well really. If there's anything
wrong with
the way women are treated on the internet, it's the way the U.S.
government
is trying to make them all look like dirty whores by strengthening
the 2257
laws and bitching about Janet Jackson's nipple, et al.

[videoblogging] Re: How do you explain that ?

2005-10-16 Thread Susan
Hmm... well, I would say the opposite. My vlog is open to the
public, and I'm lucky to get one comment a post. (Then again, read
the other thread on females to get an idea of why I don't get
comments...) My regular text blog is closed to the public--less than
50 people have access to read it--and I get lots more comments there.

I think tools like FireANT that allow people to view vlog posts one-
after-another tend to curb people from making comments, because they
can just sit on the couch and watch all the vlog posts without having
to touch their keyboard.

Want a funny visual? Susan, sitting on the couch, crocheting a new
winter blanket, with her laptop on the coffee table, and the day's
different vlog posts playing their way out on her screen while she
works.

[videoblogging] Re: logic in DVD creation?

2005-10-16 Thread Susan
Would you happen to have a DVD burner that came with Roxio Easy Media
Creator 6? (7 doesn't do it...) Though not the most complicated
software in the world, its DVD builder will let you make kinda tree
style menus... I can help if needed... though going backwards, to
previous clips etc, can't really do that. but hopefully at least
this is a step in the right direction.

Hi, folks. I have a new task - to figure out how to create a DVD
that uses
some sort of logic for determining what to play next. I know,
that's what
menus are for. This is going to be for an educational DVD with lots
of menus
and routes to take, similar to a choose your own adventure book. I
think
this may be too complicated for a DVD player but I am not sure. I am
thinking of this in terms of a flow chart, which is easy to see,
but in
terms of laying it all out for making a video, I don't know a simple
construction method because then it has to be constructed in a
linear
fashion. Possible to do but difficult and confusing.

So here's my question. Is there a tool that will let me break free
from the
linear construction and allow me to create something that looks
like a
flowchart? This ideal piece of software would let me make a menu
once, then
have several video clips that lead to it, have loops that come back
to each
other, etc., and output a DVD. I have no idea where to turn for
this, but
knowing Steve Garfield, Verdi, Jay and others, someone will likely
have it
knocked out inside of a week. How hard is programming, anyway?

I tried doing this in Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premiere and it got
wicked
 complicated wicked fast.

Seriously though, what I am looking for is really just a different
user
interface to make this simpler to construct. Something like Visio,
but for
making interactive video. Hmm - Video - catchy name...

the web that are being bookemarked by Delicious users. FireAnt plays
 everything.

Of course, I'm biased as I am one of the developers of FireAnt.

Two great tastes that taste great together: now that del.icio.us
offers feeds by filetype and iTunes has full video support
  (including
vodcasts, or video podcasts), you can load up iTunes with free
video files bookmarked and tagged in del.icio.us. Here's how:

Go to the del.icio.us page of Quicktime .mov files, which is
  http://
   del.icio.us/tag/system:filetype:mov.
Add tags at the end of that URL which indicate the kind of
movies
  you
want. For .mov files tagged funny, you'd go to
  http://del.icio.us/
   tag/system:filetype:mov+funny.
At the bottom of that page, copy and paste the RSS feed of those
videos using the orange RSS button.
In iTunes, go to Podcasts. In the Advanced menu,
choose Subscribe
  to
Podcast. Paste the URL you just copied.
All goes well, iTunes will start downloading video items from
the
funny feed. Once it's done downloading, make sure the album
art
panel on the lower left side of iTunes is showing. Then, click
on
  the
video item. Play it in the small panel, or expand to full-screen
using the button on the bottom of iTunes' chrome.

From here on in, each time you open iTunes, any new .mov's
  tagged
funny in del.icio.us will be automatically downloaded.

By the way, this isn't a new feature in iTunes 6. It's been
  supported
since podcasts were introduced, and first outlined here on
  Lifehacker
in our How to find and add media to your iTunes library with
del.icio.us post. The same technique works with music and PDF's,
  but
it was worth pointing it out again as watching video in iTunes
   becomes more common.

[videoblogging] I took a humungous step...

2005-10-14 Thread Susan
Hi there!

I just contacted my local Apple store here in Plano, TX (Willow Bend)
about setting up a videoblogging workshop.

Whew!

Now here's my question to those of you who have taught an apple
workshop before:
- do you have handouts, syllabus, etc. that I could reference from?
- they said that since it is a new class, it would have to be run
through cuppertino (sp?). What is that? Could I use others who have
done this type of workshop as references to the workshop itself?

I'd like to do a basic overview to videoblogging, what it is, what
sites offer free tools, and an overview to the process to get your vlog
created and known.

What do you guys think? Am I nutso or what??

Flipping out,
Susan

2005-10-13 Thread Susan
Yeah--I know this sounds nuts, but wait a week and see if it works.

I updated my feed's description; and sometime within a week I noticed
that it was updated in the podcast directory.

For those with an iTunes account that want to add their feed, go to
this link:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/

Then on the bottom left, click on the learn more about getting your
podcast on iTunes link. It should open up your iTunes, with a place
to type in your feed address.

[videoblogging] How to get your feed to show up in the iTunes podcast directory

2005-10-13 Thread Susan
Okay guys, I am by no means a genius, but I am all about teach a man
to fish. If anything I say in this post is wrong, PLEASE reply to
this thread and correct me!

With the coming of the new iPod Video, everyone is curious about how
to get their xml/rss feed into iTunes's podcast directory. Here's
what I know...

1. Set up your RSS
In your xml code, you should have this:
channel
titlekitykity's vlog/title
linkhttp://vlog.kitykity.com/link
authorSusan Kirkpatrick/author
descriptionkitykity's video blog. I'm a loving wife and mother
of two kidlets under the age of eight. Join us on our daily
adventures and absorb our life, mostly taken in thousands of little
five-second increments./description
image
  titlekitykity's vlog/title
  urlhttp://www.kitykity.com/journal/styles/supergirl.gif/url
  linkhttp://vlog.kitykity.com/link
/image
[all the other stuff goes here]
If you add these fields, they will add that info to your listing in
the podcast directory.

2. Submit your feed
My feed is picked up by feedburner. So I go to this page:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/
...and on the bottom left part of the page, I click on learn more
about how to add your podcast to iTunes. Clicking on that will open
up your iTunes (you have it installed, right?) and take your iTunes
to a browser page where you will type in your feed URL. Mine is:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/kitykity

3. Wait!
I read Josh (was it Josh?) saying yesterday that it takes about 48
hours for the podcast directory to be updated. That sounds about
right to me. I updated my feed's description, and within a few days
it was updated in the podcast directory.

That's it! I hope this helps.

Of all those people who commented, there was only one who even had a

I dig the point about personal safety, though... want to still be

[videoblogging] Re: How would you explain RSS-Video feeds to your grandma???

2005-10-11 Thread Susan
Three sentences:
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication--syndicated like your
favorite TV shows are, which means they can be watched all over the
world. Whenever you want to watch your favorite TV program, you log
into your computer, and RSS feeds it to you--gives you a link so
you can watch it, any time you want. When that TV station makes a
new TV show--like a new episode in a sitcom--it feeds it to you, by
giving you a new link, that you can click on whenever you want to
watch that new episode.

Long sentences, but it's three. :)

[videoblogging] Re: How would you explain RSS-Video feeds to your grandma???

2005-10-11 Thread Susan
This is good... but I think I would specify that the video isn't on
your computer automatically... I put something along the lines
of you can then click on a link to watch the video...
Of course, unless you have an app set up to automatically download
them. But then you go way over three sentences with Grandma. :D

Ah, the old question... A classic!

Here's my attempt for 2005-10-11, with respect to Grandma.

Pretend you subscribe to a free magazine. You fill out a little
postcard, and send it in, and each month, they deliver the new
issue to
your house. Once you subscribe, you just wait for the new one to
arrive.
If you want to unsubscribe, you send them another postcard
canceling
 your subscription.

Now, with RSS video feeds, you subscribe by typing an address
into a
computer program. The computer program then delivers each new video
to
your computer. Once you subscribe, you just wait for the new one to
arrive. If you want to unsubscribe, you just tell your computer
program
 to delete the subscription.

How's that? (Damn, looks like it took me more than 3 sentences!)

Have you folks heard about BiteTV?

I was approached by one of their programming people, and they said

would like more info about it, drop me an email and I'll give you the

[videoblogging] Re: help...please..thank you..

2005-10-05 Thread Susan
Here here to everything Mister Steve had to said.

With OurMedia, if you are uploading large files (I would say over
5MB), they have a little software tool you can install on your
computer to upload files with. I use it, and it's nifty.

Though I am an OurMedia advocate, I will admit I have trouble from
time to time; but when I do, I just walk away from the computer for
fifteen minutes, try to upload the movie again, and it works fine.

Also, something else I found out accidentally, if your description
of your movie is less than ten words (or something like that), your
upload will fail. Not sure if it gives a proper error message or
not.

What alternative hosting site was recommended to you that contained

you
feel that way, I dont understand how either this group could be
responsible, or why you would let it put you off ever doing
anything

I mean, even if a free host had lots of content which you
considered
adult/porn, if the service is any good then you never need to look
at
that stuff. You have your own blog with no porn, and link to your
videos which are hosted by the free service.

I just want to understand more about how this thing happened, I
struggle to imagine what advice from this group led to porn
ugliness.

[videoblogging] About Me questions

2005-09-16 Thread Susan
Hi there!

I am thinking about making an about me post today, in five second
increments, of course. :) In it, I'll tell some basic, some
interesting, and some perhaps not-so-interesting things about me.
It'll be the longest time I think I've ever spent in front of a camera,
not counting teaching classes in the military...

What I'd like is, for another project, for each person who reads this
to come up with five questions that could be answered in an about me
vlog entry. Take those five questions and post them here in this
thread in the yahoo group, so that perhaps anyone who would like to can
create a similar post about themselves.

Have fun! Oh, and yes I'll post my 5 questions too...
