[videoblogging] Chilean Footage 1970's

2005-08-30 Thread joel

Hey all...  I need some footage (with the proper copyright permissions) of chile in the 1970's.  I need clips of student protests, marches, and people being arrested by the military.  I would love to get a hold of the same footage that ken loach used for his 9/11 short film (if any of you have seen that).  I've checked the archive and haven't found any chilean video.  What I'm doing:  I'm working with my local theater putting on "Death and the Maiden."  I'm going to try to incorporate some footage of what happened in the 1970's to set the stage before the play begins.

Again, the footage can only be used with the proper permissions.

thanks-- joelhttp://joelart.blogspot.com

[videoblogging] Vlog Site Advice

2005-08-30 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya
I have just uploaded a video clip, through ourmedia, to my site and for all the previous posts when you click on the video (wmv) it opens a up windows media player, buffers the clip and streams it and when you want to download you right click and click save target as. For this post whenever I clip on it it straight away downloads it and does not stream it. Is it maybe because I just uploaded it, really not sure why. It also might just be on my side pls could someone check it out, thanks so much.

[videoblogging] weekly or daily post debate

2005-08-30 Thread Tyrone Rubin

Hiya
I have been running a weekly magic show (magicforafrica.blogspot.com) and its going pretty slower than I expected. I am thinking the reason could be because it is a weekly posted clip as apposed to a daily posted clip. The shows with narrative on the net are weekly as they have a type of story to them. Since mine is magic tricks I have been thinking of posting a magic trick everyday instead of every week. Does anyone agree with the fact that a daily magic show would attract allot more people than a weekly magic show.
Thanks

Re: [videoblogging] Fwd: Invitation JACK KEROUAC VIDEO FESTIVAL

2005-08-30 Thread Jan
It's as Jake says. If you still would prefer someone else take care of this
project on your behalf, I'm willing, but it probably won't happen until
November.

My experience with archival material includes transferring all of Maya
Deren's audio cassettes and wire tapes at Boston University and Anthology
Film Archives to DAT tape.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Did you download and save the video or
stream it? I've noticed that with some videos the download time can be
quite long from archive.org (not depending on the size).

Re: [videoblogging] collaborative video projects - ¿adonde?

2005-08-30 Thread Jan McLaughlin
Golly neds, I love collaborating. Here are a few notes on the subject.

Once I've added my .02 to someone else's work I tag collaborations in
mefeedia:

mashup (recent tag addition)
collaboration

plus add tags relevant to the original creator(s).

The process? Usually just save a movie or podcast that inspires to the
hard drive and work on it when i can - with a comment / email to the
creator in the work flow. It's safe to say that this community -
generally - is totally open to having their work altered, but check the
copyleft first.

The "Music Across the Miles" project was definitely edit intensive, but
that was where I was at the time: needing to be able to edit more
intensively, so it was right for me.

On another note, nobody invited me to the "Music Across the Miles"
party, I simply heard the music & walked in the door.

With Max's e-band I noticed an empty spot in the 4 squares of the video
that suggested an invitation. That was enough :) More than that, there
was "space" left in the original video for additions. That is really
important if your intention is to have the work "grow" online. Max
began with just him drumming.

Based on our positive experience with the e-band, we've created a
SpinXpress E-Band account that anyone's welcome to join, even if you're
not a musician. E-me off list and I'll add you to the mix. What
SpinXpress facilitates is filesharing. Upload is really fast and there
is space for comments. At this point, nothing seems to be happening,
but Anders uploaded a tune to which I plan to add backup vox. I added a
couple of poetryworks that have some music but could use more and some
video.

More recently, I mashed up a violin playing video from Shannon Noble,
with a podast from cellist Robert Rowe at cellowirlesspodcast. I added
my friend Tom doing a ballet of a backstroke and the marvelous sound of
the water to the mix.

Rene's "greenthing" project is an ongoing collaboration at
http://luxomedia.com/greenthing and is tagged in every conceivable
place and manner with "greenthing". Headsoff (Serra) gets Greenthing
No. 26 in the mail any day now. Greenthing was also edit intensive, for
I had a couple days' research to learn how to use greenscreen
technique.

Depends on what you're into and what you need to work on.

The collaboration party is ongoing. C'mon in, belly up to the bar, and
start playing.

Re: [videoblogging] If Bass Pro had a rss videofeed on bass fishing would you sign

2005-08-30 Thread Deirdre Straughan

I suspect you're always going to get some more-or-less fixed percentage of:

1. people who are so turned off by the very idea of
advertising/marketing that they run away screaming from anything that
remotely looks like a plug

2. people who simply aren't interested in that item right now, or ever

3. people who will watch anything funny/cool etc. regardless of whether they'd ever buy the product

4. people who would feel informed by such videos and maybe buy a
product as a result, or get more use out of the product they already own

However, things get interesting when group 1 comes up against a situation like:

"I'm in the market for a grill, and I happen to know that Steve
Garfield has done a testimonialish video for Weber grills. I have met
Steve in person and like him, and he comes across in video as a sincere
guy, so do I feel 'advertised at' if I watch his video or not? What if
I already watched it just because it's Steve, and now I'm in the store
about to buy a grill, and my thoughts drift to Weber... have I been
swayed by (ick!) advertising? Has Steve now gone over to the Dark Side?"

I love it when the lines get fuzzy!-- best regards,Deirdré Straughanwww.straughan.com (personal)www.tvblob.com

Minimal requirements: A webcam and a computer.
My minimum recommendation: A digital camera that can shoot video and a
computer.

Hi beginner rob!

I just followed the advice on.

http://www.freevlog.org/

And I thought it was really well explained. I thought
it could do with some screen shots and text info tho',
as you really have to watch those demo videos.

But it's good work.

Have a look at the one I set up.

There you go. Don't use MS Word for blog entries - it will mangle things.
If you do write entries in Word first save them as Text Only files (yes,
you'll lose any formatting) before putting the text on the blog.

Re: [videoblogging] collaborative video projects - ¿adonde?

2005-08-30 Thread Jen Simmons
I asked the question because I am putting the final touches on the
syllabus of the class I'm teaching this fall. I want to spend a week
with my students exploring collaborative vlogging, and requiring them
to jump in on one of these projects.

What I discovered, is that it's easy to see the results (such movies
show up in FireANT), but it's hard to find documentation of the process
-- ie: a good place for the students to go for ecah project where
there's some directions, 'the rules' as Ed called them, links to the
source materials, and places to post (link) your own collaborative
addition.

There are clues to all these things... but (well it at least in my
surf-a-page-a-minute mode) I'm not seeing dummy-proof documentation
(all in one central place).

They'll be joining the vlogosphere in three weeks, and doing a
collaborative vlog entry in early November (right after Rode Node has
come to visit!!)

I'll announce the URL for the class once I've got more content on it.

[videoblogging] Videoblogging and Podcasting Research Project - Request for Assistance

2005-08-30 Thread Peter Chen
Hello Videobloggers,

My name is Peter Chen, I'm a lecturer in media and communications at
Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and have just joined the
group.

I'm currently in the preparatory phase of a small research project on
podcasters and videobloggers and would like some assistance.

I've developed a draft survey for distribution, but would appreciate
any feedback people may have about it (its structure, questions, etc.)
before I finalise it and promote it to the videoblogging and
podcasting community.

The draft is currently at:
http://peterchen.members.grokthis.net/?q=node/56

If you are currently videoblogging, please check it out and drop me
some comments (either through the survey, or at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]). I'd appreciate any constructive
comments people had to offer,

Please note, once I receive some comments, I'll revise the survey
before its released and wipe the data collected - so I'm going to ask
you to come back and do it for real later on.

With thanks,

Peter Chen

[videoblogging] Webcam for Windows XP?

Hey group, a friend of mine asked about good webcams. I suggested the
iSight, but he's using Windows XP, not one of those nice Macs...

Any suggestions on a decent quality webcam for Windows XP?

You didn't specify a namespace for the prefix "o". If you don't know what
that means you did it unintentionally. I'm guessing it's a copy and paste
incident. What's your feed URL? It's kind of hard to check what's up
without having something to look at. :o)

Re: [videoblogging] Webcam for Windows XP?

2005-08-30 Thread Troy LeMaire
I have the Logitech and it has a built in Microphone.
It is a good quality webcam. The only thing I would
say to make it more professional of a video, would be
to get a camera that doesn't have a built in
Microphone. An external microphone will make the
sound more adjustable.

Also, for some reason, it makes me look more bald then
when I look in the mirror. I don't know if this is
the webcams fault.

PDFs, however, are inaccessible to people with visual impairments and
are problematic for limited-literate audiences or people who rely on
translation/voice-generation tools.

Or people with a slow computer or a dial-up connection. There is a reason
the web is made up largely of HTML files and not PDF files. HTML is much
better suited for online documents.

Don't get me wrong. I love using PDFs. They are amazing for print
documents. You just hand the PDF to your Local Friendly Printer Guy and it
just works. But it'll be a long, cold day in Hell before I replace HTML
with PDFs. :o)

wouldn't want to deal with it. But maybe your target users are
different. What do they think? Do they need the PDF because its like a
printable newsletter? Just curious...

Re: [videoblogging] I/ON: Now Mefeedia-Powered!

2005-08-30 Thread Jan
I am experimenting with using PDF's for the vlog press kit site - because
the target RSS audience is the press. The thinking is that they wouldn't
mind having a thing to print out with official looking letterhead, etc. The
actual text would appear in an entry but the enclosure would be a PDF file.

Thoughts?

The thing is, I'm going to have to convince the vlogworld to produce PDF
press releases for delivery. Or make them myself. Don't know if that works
for me.

One would think folks would produce press releases in .txt, word processed
(.wpd or .doc) as well as PDF.

Or am I just wacked?

PDF has its place of course.
It should not be the sole medium for transmitting content though especially if you are a blogger.
Need to have logical balance and understand who your target audience is.
Obviously, PDFs targeted to this community is not proper if its the
main format unless its purpose is to allow printing for whatever
reasons.

Btw, way back, i was looking into how to add multimedia into PDFs
is that still a mystery these days? I used to do a lot of research into
multimedia eBooks etc..

thanks,

If you are going to use PDFs, please consider paper sizes and text
positioning very carefully. I have seen too many US-originated PDFs
that (for example) assume everyone has "letter" sized paper, and won't
print correctly on the A4 paper used elsewhere in the world.

[videoblogging] browser / os

2005-08-30 Thread robert a/k/a r
Hi,

Has anyone in this group ever posted a message containing a link and
special request to click once (obviously good practise to eliminate
multiple requests from same IP), the purpose being to generate a
statistic regarding browser type/ver and os for this group?

If not, has anyone got a spare cycle or two to do it, tally the log
after 48 hours and pub the results for the group?

cheers

The size difference is not that big. If margins are sufficiently wide (and
you don't have the Reader auto scale when you print) there are no
problems. :o)

Large margins look better anyway.

good point.
it'll be a powerful thing.  i've always felt that cross-platform compiled multimedia eBooks would one day boom.
going back to 2001, the only solution that i was impressed with was TK3 by Night Kitchen (http://nightkitchen.com).
Their software still has not been updated yet still may be the only multimedia eBook technology that works on both Win and Mac.

Multimedia Acrobat  and/or deriviate software would be  nice
to see on the marketplace.  It would be feasible to distribute
vlogs within these 'wrappers'.

It all has to do with how the server is configured. www.example.com
would be a subdomain of example.com (like all those blogspot.com

(From where I am, I can't reach http://independent.co.uk/ - I get the

This may be stupid (but I can't see why). But why not slap a browser on
your tablet PC, PDA, PSP or other acronym. Distribute your 'book' as HTML
and call it a day?

I forgot to reply to this, but yey, thanks Nathan :) It means that if
you're listed in the Mefeedia directory, you're listed in I/ON. More
exposure for videobloggers.

To get especially new vloggers more subscribers, we added a list of
new vloggers in I/ON, so that if you just added your feed to Mefeedia,
you'll show up there for a while.

If you have a website with any kind of statistics reporting then you

Yeah the link without the www doesnt resolve for me either.

This suggests that the computer of the person who gets a travel site
when they go to independent.co.uk, has some adware type stuff on it.
If a url is entered that would normally return an error, it instead
redirects to another site, possibly different sites depending on the
url, possibly not.

there's a bigger picture related to content distribution, access/flow control, offline viewing, ecommerce and other aspects.
html is something that is inclusive, not exclusive to the ideas of
eBooks/eMags and other distributable digital media compilations.

[videoblogging] hurricane katrina mobcast

2005-08-30 Thread Andy Carvin
Hi everyone,

I've just launched an open blog and mobcast for people interested in
following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina:

http://katrina05.blogspot.com/

The blog is set up so that anyone can post a blog entry, podcast or
photo to the site. I'm particularly hoping that residents of the Gulf
Coast will be willing to call in and let people know how things are
going for them. Similarly, anyone who would like to share ways to help
out, or wishes to share their thoughts on the hurricane, may post as
well. (I'm still trying to figure out an automated mechanism for posting
video.)

Here's how to participate.

Post a blog entry:

Send an email to katrina2005.comments @ blogger.com. The title of your
email will be the title of the blog entry, and the email body will be
the blog entry body. If you don't want your contact information, you
should remove your signature file. Attachments will not be posted.

Record a podcast:

   Dial 1-415-856-0205
   Enter login 515-515-
PIN code 2005, then the # key
   Record your message
Press the # key to save, then the 1 key to post

Post a photo:

The website is collecting photos from Flickr.com that are tagged with
the word "hurricanekatrina." Simply log on to Flickr (or create an
account), upload photos, and use this tag. Photos appear in the right
column of the blog's homepage.

I've also set up a "tag-o-rama" inside the right column of the blog. It
displays links to relevant key words like hurricane, katrina and new
orleans, linking to tagged content from Technorati (blogs), Flickr
(photos) and del.icio.us (websites).

Please feel free to share this email with anyone who might be interested
in participating.

thanks,
andy

sorry josh, i was writing too quickly and didn't fully explain. it's not necessarily necessary.

i was looking for a sample point for this group, perhaps someone did this back in early 2005 or we might collect a sample point today. i'm wondering what the distribution look like and how many capable here of viewing what (i.e., mov, wma, flv), not having Safari choke on java, etc.

so again, not necessary though interesting to compare the population of vlog-savvy early adopters subpopulation vs larger population.

But without information about how people view their content, a listing
of browser types makes very little sense. Are you assuming everyone
views media in a browser?

The survey attached to this list at

 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/videoblogging/surveys?id=1191088

seems to indicate that only around a quarter of respondents view
videoblogs using a browser.

I think one distinguishing characteristic of the "vlog savvy" might be
that they are willing to consider other tools than just a web browser
:)

Re: [videoblogging] browser / os

2005-08-30 Thread Joshua Kinberg
I can say from our download stats at FireANT that we have had about
40% Mac downloads and 60% Windows. Granted we have done very little
promotion or marketing... heck we have hardly made release
announcements here... but I think this is a fairly telling statistic
when Mac users comprise somewhere around 5% of the total computer
market. So, we can see a heavy proportion of Mac users in this early
adopter category.

Does that help?

[videoblogging] Crying, While Eating

2005-08-30 Thread André Sala
http://www.cryingwhileeating.com/

Has everyone seen this site already? Exactly what the URL says.
People crying, while eating. You can read a great article about the site here:
http://slate.msn.com/id/2121384/

I wish the author would setup his site as a vlog with RSS 2 enclosures
so that I could subscribe in ANT/DTV.

Has there been discussion in the past about assimilating current sites
that regularly post great video content, but are not technically vlogs?

I emailed the guy making the suggestion, but never heard back.
Does anyone agree that part of the vlogging media revolution will involve
actively "assimilating" sites that don't feed?
Any suggestions about how to get this site to "convert?"

Thanks,

André

(jumping into this thread late - i thought everyone was talking about
I/ON and here you are discussing PDFs - hmph!)

Thanks for the feedback, Kunga. I'll look into why my Thunderbird client
is misbehaving. Otherwise, we haven't applied to be listed in iTunes
yet. I suppose we should.

As for being the counter-ANT, well, I would more call it the
alterna-ANT, or just another choice for people. I have no interest in
countering anyone in this community - my goals are to work towards
countering the entrenched powers that be at least in ideals, creativity,
and approach, if not in terms of actual market success.

Otherwise, I'm glad to consider adding PDF support in I/ON. We're a
Media Aggregator, and if that's your Media then so be it! (I think we'll
have this in Beta 2 hopefully)

Nathan

[videoblogging] How will vloggers differ from bloggers.

2005-08-30 Thread Randolfe Wicker

Studies of bloggers show them to be younger,
wealthier and high speed connected to the Internet.  A study which can be
accessed at the link below explores such interesting details as the most popular
"blogs" being political, hip lifestyle, tech and those by women. I wonder if
these trends will be the same for vlogs?

[videoblogging] Mefeedia + Audioblog + Playstation Portable vlogs

2005-08-30 Thread Eric Rice
Here's some fun stuffs.

As I was testing out our upcoming video podcast functionality of our videoblog
tool, I had
some happy multi-product accidents.

The experiment was posting Playstation Portable-compatible/formatted videos to
a blog
using Audioblog (which will post the flash video AND the enclosure (feedburner
needed)).
The weblog is formatted in a way that it will look good on the PSP's 408x272
screen.

I then made a splash page on my web server that had my ugly mug and a link to a
page
that had nothing more than Peter's neat video archive 'vlogwall' javascript
available at
http://mefeedia.com/help/javascript/feedthumbs.php (he calls it an instant
archive).

The result is a site that looks like this on a PSP
Splash page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ericrice/38707905/
Mefeedia Archive: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ericrice/38707873/

The PSP browser makes the page format pretty well, although you can play with
the
stylesheets to adjust spacing.

And the bonus of this for all you iTunes fans: Quicktime is Quicktime. If you
post PSP-
ready videos to your videoblog, they're instantly video podcasts in iTunes as
well as
accessible directly via PSP over the web. The same applies to FireAnt and all
the other
aggregators out there that play video.

One final thing... this PSP is a bigger deal than you might think. It's not
socially awkward
to have a PSP in public, and the fact that you can connect to the web over wifi
to get audio,
pictures, video (and of course the web) is a huge step. *Huge*...

Do you want to penetrate that demographic to evangelize making media? I sure as
hell do.

:-)

[videoblogging] NAMAC

2005-08-30 Thread Verdi
Hey Ya'll,
Ryanne, Jay and I are going to the NAMAC conference in Philadelphia
(Sept. 28 - Oct. 2) where we'll be on the Digital Creativity panel
and having a drop-in videoblog workshop. I know that Jen Simmons
will also be there and I heard that Chuck Olsen and Kenyatta Cheese
will also be there. Some of you might consider attending and/or
sending people to this conference. If you don't know already NAMAC
(National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture) is a national
organization that advocates for film, video, audio and online/
multimedia arts. http://namac.org/category.cfm?id=6 >
Basically, their members are a bunch of media centers, after-school
programs, community access TV stations - all people interested in
democratizing media.
So I guess what I'm saying is: check out this conference , consider going to it or
recommending it to people, and let's get all of these places up to
speed with videoblogging!

adobe professional. embeds quicktime very nicely and there are a
range of simple actions (interactions) you can perform. I've made one
pdf movie book this way and I've just had 40 students make
collaborative 'noise' movie books in exactly the same way. Takes
about 20 minutes to learn how to do.

[videoblogging] Re: Mefeedia + Audioblog + Playstation Portable vlogs

2005-08-30 Thread Ed
Maybe this is noteworthy... I discovered videoblogs by accident while looking
for software
to convert videos to PSP-format back in April. Now I'm a fairly regular
videoblogger and
still mostly use my PSP just to play video and listen to MP3's. The games are
still not all
that great ("Hot Shots" and "Lumines" being the best I've played).

I actually play more games on my Nintendo DS (two screens, one a touch screen)
than the
PSP. That might change if PSP were to start supporting Flash.

Will the software you're touting batch convert my videoblog entries to
PSP-friendly video?
Or just play them via a web-interface on a PSP? Or both?

Best,
Ed @ http://bigtimetelevision.blogspot.com

Re: [videoblogging] Conference Discount

2005-08-30 Thread Randolfe Wicker

Does anyone have any opinion as to how worthwhile
conferences like this one are?

I'd get a discount as a member of AIVF
anyway.  It seems to me like they are just hungry for attendance.
There are various events held for writers and sponsored by professional groups
that are overpriced wastes of money.

I have no way of judging in this case.  Does
anyone have any opinions?

I love fishing and am regular customer at BassProShops -- so why

If it was dissapointing in anyway, I'd just unsubscribe... it's not

Videoblogging won't be the domain of us early adopter purists types

to jump in the fun pretty soon.

you'd got your poster/pamphlet/corporate annual report with a poster
frame visible where the video was. but if you'd embedded sound rather

I think PSPware does... you drag a bunch over and it converts... the key is to
not having
your PSP connected, so it won't sync (unless you want em too, but I think it's
more fun to

[videoblogging] Re: any vlogers in new orlens?

2005-08-30 Thread Troy LeMaire
Hey Everyone,

I created a section for Hurricane Katrina on the VLogList.com
forum. So far I posted my Hurricane Outerwall video which is on my
blog and on the main page. I also got in some pictures today of
Grande Isle and Port Fourchon, which are directly on the Gulf of
Mexico. If you look at Louisiana as a boot or foot, then this is
the area that would be the front part of the ball of the foot. This
is really devistating and there was alot of power in the storm and
the water.

Grande Isle is home to the annual Tarpon Rodeo, which brings in
yachts from all over the gulf south.

Port Fourchon is the place where many people leave to go out to oil
rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. It is known by everybody who has ever
had anything to do with the oil field.

[videoblogging] news story

This is a very nice ad for beer. Tongue in cheek (earlier ad in same
series was more subtle and I think better). The article is about how
the company emailed the ad to employees before it went to air. 1.7
million now viewed it, and they are showing it *less* on tv as a
result. I joined the throng and stuck it on my blog today for good
measure.

[videoblogging] About 24 hours away from my first video blog

2005-08-30 Thread Bohus Blahut

Hiya everybody,

My plan is to roll out my video blog on September 1st, so I've got
about a day left to get things all sorted out. It'll be less about me
personally, and more about my love of old home movies. In this video
blogging climate of personal expression, it's really interesting to see
these first steps in people taking control of visual media... but I digress.

The production of the actual video is not a problem for me as that's
what I do for a living. I've gone through the tutorials at freevlog.org
and am so grateful for such a terrific resource. Here are my remaining
questions:

Is there a list somewhere of people's preferred compression
codecs/video sizes? I'd like to make my vlog very available, and I like
what Rocketboom is doing offering multiple formats for download. I'd
love to see what the most requested filetypes are for vlogs.

I need to do this using the free services that are out there right
now. While the video tutorials discuss using archive.org and ourmedia,
I've seen a number of posts with regards to their reliability. While I
appreciate their being free (archive.org is an epoch-making resource), I
would like to have a reliable place to host my work. Is blip.tv more
reliable? are there any down sides to not using ourmedia specifically?

Thanks for any help you can offer me. I'm sure that there will be
teething pains for my video blog, but am glad to be finally getting
something together. Thanks!

Yes, PSPWare does exactly that. The unregistered version is limited to 5
sync'd videos I
think. Great software, been using it for months.

Re: [videoblogging] About 24 hours away from my first video blog

2005-08-30 Thread robert a/k/a r
Hi Bohus

I've found the IA slowness problem a major deterrent to watching vids
posted there. I know Brewster Kahle and company are getting it sorted,
but for now I'm viewing literally no downloads from there.

Regarding blip.tv I've got to say they have the best of the lot, the
guys seem very responsive. And they have this cross-posting scheme
which makes it easy to upload to multiple services, they get the
work-flow concept and are ahead of the pack on that front. Try the
email test, ask a question see how long it takes for blip.tv to reply.

cheers

That's the impression I'm getting. Again, I mean no disrespect at
all to Archive.org. I love what it is that they're doing, and it's an
almost impossible task.

Excellent news. I will look into that some more. I also notice
that they are hosting the blog themselves as well. Is there any benefit
to doing that rather than having a Blogger account linking to blip.tv?
Is it just that since Blogger is rather popular you have more chance of
someone stumbling across your vlog that way?

Thanks for your zippy answer, Robert!

Ah... that's a big "duh" on me. That's the one video of yours that
I was going to watch tomorrow. All the rest I checked already, and I've
got to say that we're very fortunate that you took the time to create
such a thorough resource. The "free" angle is especially good too. :)

The weird thing for me is that I'm creating content on a different
machine than the one that's online. All of my editing gear and apps are
on a Win2000 machine, and I'm sure that I don't have all these snazzy
new codecs installed I'm not even sure whether they'd even work on the
editing machine (it's a little finicky sometimes).

I'll be giving this a spin tomorrow and hopefully it won't blow up
in my face, or take 15 hours to render... Ah yes, the old days. :)

Thanks again!
