Re: Index MacOS Shortcuts

2023-08-23 Thread Patrick Robertson
Nice idea. I have created a plugin and release it soon. You can download the
following file to see if it works

https://github.com/quicksilver/Shortcuts-qsplugin/releases/tag/v0.1

Re: Multiple Firefoxs in Running Apps/Processes

2022-08-08 Thread Patrick Robertson
This is most likely because Firefox launches multiple processes, as a security
precaution
.
As such, this behaviour is expected, although you’re right it does look funny
that they’re all the same name. Can you create an issue related to “Names of
running background applications show incorrectly”, and we’ll take a look into
it.

Here’s how the names should look:

2022-06-15 Thread Patrick Robertson
I view the fact that the ‘on release’ option doesn’t wait until *all* keys are
released, and that type text picks up current keyboard modifiers when typing as
a bug.

Can you please open an issue at github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver/issues

Re: Using QS trigger to type a text and other.

2022-06-15 Thread Patrick Robertson
I think this is because you may still be holding down some keys like ⌘ or ⇧ as
the typing is happening, which would trigger other commands. If you set the
trigger to work ‘on release’, and make sure to release all keys quickly, it
should work.

However, instead of ’Type Text’ you could try using the ‘Paste’ action. The
disadvantage of this though is that it may not work for all password fields,
and would add the password to your clipboard.

Re: Using QS trigger to type a text and other.

2022-06-15 Thread Patrick Robertson
This is certainly possible, try setting up a trigger for ’some text’ and then
use the action ’Type Text’.

You can set triggers to only work in certain apps using the ’Scope’ options.
Open the sidebar for a trigger, then change the applications:

Note: Please note, however, that the contents of triggers are saved as plain
text on your computer, and could be visible by anybody who has access to your
computer. As such it may not be the most secure option to store passwords in
Triggers. A password manager might be more appropriate for this.

Good luck!

Re: 12 hour time format for "Run At Time" Action

2022-06-12 Thread Patrick Robertson
The ‘run at time’ action uses Apple’s built-in method for calculating the date
and time from some input text.

I can confirm that writing ‘2pm’ works correctly for me, see the below image.
In your case, I expect it’s related to your settings in ‘Language & Region’ in
your system preferences.

Re: How to distinguish those who already donated?

2022-06-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
Hi Yuriy,

Currently, there’s no way to disable the Donate dialog permanently, even if
you’ve donated. However, I agree that it would make sense to have a mechanism
to allow those who’ve donated to hide the screen for a period of time.

Can you please create an issue over at
github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver/issues so that we can keep track of this.

Thanks!

Re: QuickSilver syncing between Macs or import/export settings

2022-06-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
This idea has definitely been raised before:
https://github.com/quicksilver/Quicksilver/issues/1158

However, the issue was closed due to inactivity. If you feel strongly about
this feature, please comment on that issue and we can re-open it.

As Rob said, you could try syncing specific files using your own iCloud/Dropbox
setup.

On the other hand, I would be happy to implement a settings ‘export’ and
‘import’ feature, that would allow you to ‘export’ all your Quicksilver
settings as a single file, and then ‘import’ them into Quicksilver on another
computer. It’s not quite a sync feature, but it would be very useful for moving
Quicksilver to a new computer.

Re: Quicksilver's Shelf doesn't keep items across sessions

2022-05-09 Thread Patrick Robertson
I just tried dragging/dropping items to the shelf and it worked here. Can you
please open an issue at github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver/issues outlining
the exact steps you’re taking (with a video, if possible).

Please also make sure to specify what version of Quicksilver you’re using, and

Re: Shared/Community Catalog Definitions?

Turns out most of the code to make this possible was already implemented in
Quicksilver, just there was never an easy way to do it.

I’ve added a method for saving Catalog Entries via the Catalog Preferences,
which should be available in the next version of Quicksilver:

Re: Web Searches Plugin Catalogs empty

2022-04-05 Thread Patrick Robertson
Please open an issue report at github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver/issues
 outlining your issue, and
we’ll look into it.

When you click the icon to update the catalog entry, and get the spinning
beachball of death, please perform a spindump and post it to the Github Issue
you create.

You can learn how to create a spindump file here:
https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206435255-Creating-a-Spindump-file-on-macOS

In step 5, select ‘Quicksilver’ instead of ‘Zoom’.

Re: Latest version freezes at launch

2022-04-01 Thread Patrick Robertson
Please create an issue report at
https://github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver/issues and make sure to include a
spindump in your upload, so that we can investigate the problem.

Instructions on how to create a spindump can be found here

(in step 5 choose Quicksilver instead of zoom.us)

Thanks!

Re: "Failed to Extract Plugin" on fresh install, fresh macbook pro

2022-02-19 Thread Patrick Robertson
This appears to be an issue with a recent update to the ‘Email Support’
Plugin. For the time being, you can try disabling it and any other ‘mail’
plugins you have enabled from the Quicksilver Plugins Preference Pane:

This should make the issue go away. We will have an updated Gmail plugin and
E-mail support plugin released soon, which should fix this issue permanently.

Re: Master builds and runs but won't launch

2022-02-12 Thread Patrick Robertson
This vaguely rings a bell. Restart Xcode, reboot, rm /tmp/QS

This post says the same thing:
https://groups.google.com/g/quicksilver---development/c/_2llLcswbn4/m/Vs37GWtB90sJ

This sort of mentions it: did you build any plugins?
https://groups.google.com/g/blacktree-quicksilver/c/qZWtfDpRmtw/m/nGzFId96uHgJ

Of course, check the Xcode console as well when you run from within Xcode

P.S. We have the Dev groups for dev talk:

That sounds like a bug to me. As Rob says, separating them may be tough (since
as soon as you reset the string QS also tends to forget the string every
existed), but it should still be logged as a bug…

Having said that, I’ve just enabled ‘reset search after 1s’ and I can still
select the “set as default for SETH” option, even after 1s. There’s probably
more debugging that needs to be done on your end @Howard.
Mind taking a screenshot of the greyed out option, as well as perhaps your
‘command’ and ‘extras' QS settings?

Re: a new manual

2018-02-14 Thread Patrick Robertson
Amazing job Rob! I'd say in order to push more people to contribute, we
should add a paragraph in the 'Home' page (and potentially in the footer?)
explaining how to go in and edit the documentation.

I'd also say let's re-jig https://qsapp.com/support.php and put the manual
at the top (along with a link on how to edit). The wiki is kind of obsolete
now. Could we look at moving the contents from there into the manual?

Re: Clipboard live search

2017-02-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
You mean you want to search the clipboard from within Quicksilver? You can do
this, with one of two ways:

* Directly adding the contents of the clipboard to your catalog. Go to Prefs >
Catalog > Plugins > Shelf & Clipboard and enable the ‘Clipboard Contents’
option. After doing this you’ll be able to search for clipboard contents
directly from Quicksilver
* Adding the ‘clipboard’ object to your catalog and then searching that. Go
back to the Prefs > Catalog > Plugins > Shelf & Clipboard, and enable ‘Shelf &
Clipboard’. This will add an item called ‘Clipboard History’ to your catalog.
If you open quicksilver and search for ‘Clipboard History’ it should pop up.
Then → (right arrow) into the object and you’ll see all your clipboard history.
You could also create a trigger for ‘Clipboard History ⇥ Search Contents’
which, when triggered, will bring up Quicksilver ready to search just the
clipboard.

Is this what you meant?

Re: Any way to get "qs" to actually fire the command?

2016-11-06 Thread Patrick Robertson
Your best bet is to probably package this into an AppleScript, then saving and
creating a trigger for “My AppleScript -> Run”

The script could be something like (if you’re getting your text from some
terminal program. Otherwise there’s no need for the ‘do shell script’ part)

tell application "Quicksilver"
set _text to do shell script "echo \"hello\""
show large type _text
end tell

Re: 1Password plugin "Open in 1Password" not working.

2016-09-19 Thread Patrick Robertson
Make sure you are using the latest plugin, the ‘Open in 1Password’ action was
actually removed from the latest plugin since it did not work properly.

First check your Quicksilver version (the latest is ), then check your
1Password Plugin version (the latest is 3.0.0)

It may be possible the auto update is not working in the version of Quicksilver
you have. You can download the latest version from:

Re: Unable to set default hits in QS

Are you sure you have typed ‘sonos’ before clicking the circle? It seems you
have not entered any search string in the interface, you must first enter this
before you can ‘make default’ for this search string.
For this picture I typed ‘opera'

Re: How do I...

Do you mean you want Chrome to open with all the same tabs and windows it had
when you shut down your computer?
This has nothing to do with Quicksilver, but is a setting in Google Chrome. See
the “On start-up” setting in the Google Chrome preferences

Announcing our very first Quicksilver Code Sprint

2016-07-22 Thread Patrick Robertson
Hi everyone, I just thought I’d like to bring to your attention the fact that
we’ll be having our very first code sprint (read more about what this means in
the blog post) next week, during the last week of July.
I’d like to thank Rob (one of our core developers) for stepping forward and
offering to take a week out of his regular schedule to help push Quicksilver's
development along.

**Blog Post**

You can read more about the sprint, what will be involved, and our funding
efforts in the blog post here:
(This sprint is being funded through user donations, so thanks to everyone
who’s donated in the past!)
http://blog.qsapp.com/post/147832176837/announcing-the-very-first-quicksilver-sprint

As always, if there’s something you want fixing or you have a feature request,
then post it over on Github so we can keep track of it!

I just did. I created aliases for (all forwarding to your Gmail addresses):

Etienne > etienne@
Henning > henning@
patrick > patrick@
Howard > howard@
(Rob - since you have access I thought you might want to set up your own alias
then you can decide the forward address.

If anybody else wants access then we can set them up with an @qsapp.com email.
Etienne - can you adjust the settings so only people with @qsapp.com emails can
get access?
Or am I going over the top with all this?

Re: Netflix bug

2016-01-27 Thread Patrick Robertson
Check which version of Quicksilver you are using (by clicking here
) and let us know. There was a developer
upgrade available this week (for beta testers only), so you may have downloaded
that. Quicksilver should in no way be stopping you from using Netflix.
The only other thing I can think of is if you’re using a VPN to access Netflix.
It seems Netflix is currently banning VPNs for access their services.

Re: Word count

You could also create an AppleScript and save it as a Quicksilver Action.
See https://qsapp.com/wiki/AppleScripts for more details

A quick Google for word count and Applescript brings up this:

It's most likely a bug, can you create an issue at

information:

* Your version of Quicksilver (make sure you're using the latest)
* Your version of OS X
* Your version of the mouse triggers plugin
* If you're using an external or built in display

@quefaccio

Are you using the Mac App Store version of 1Password?
We're now hoping to improve the plugin to make it even easier to integrate
with 1Password 4/5.

If you are using the Mac App Store, can you open up Terminal.app and type
this command:

printf ~/Library/Containers/*.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper

Then tell us what you get as the output.

I think not.
A plugin would need to be written for this kind of thing.
I don't think the core dev team has any plans of making one in the near
future, but if you know a programmer who wants to join the team and write
it, or you can do it yourself then that's the best option!

Yes, but we’re definitely set to get the localised name:

Re: Quıcĸsıɩⅴεʀ 1.3.0 problems

2015-08-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
Quicksilver 1.3 requires 10.9+
Stick to v1.2 if you're on 10.8.5 (which is no longer supported)

On Monday, 10 August 2015, 1.61803 iams...@gmail.com wrote:

 1. When I launched it it took 90-240% CPU (reading from Activity Monitor),
every time, even after clearing caches.

 2. Searching was slow and CPU intensive compared to 1.2.0, around 2.5-3.5
for most queries, I had no external volumes during tests.

 3. Gesture to close a window of Jitouch (⌘W) kept activating QS, this goes
 back to 1.2.2.

 4. Symlinks broke catalogue scanning, this also goes back to 1.2.2.

Has anyone seen these problems? Do the devs want me to file any of these
 in the tracker?

I'm on OS X 10.8.5 and now restored QS 1.2.0.

2015-06-09 Thread Patrick Robertson
There is already an issue on this. See
https://github.com/quicksilver/Quicksilver/issues/2065

10.11 is a developer preview, and so I assume is designed for developers
and not production use. If you're a developer and can help us get to the
root of the problem and help fix it that would be great.

On 10 June 2015 at 09:22, Magus Billotte magus.billo...@gmail.com wrote:

I'm running the latest version of Quicksilver in the first El Capitan
beta. Quicksilver no longer has the run or open actions available for
applications. For example, I go to launch Safari and the default action is
Show Contents Menu. I'm inserting an image of the options that
 Quicksilver gives me for Safari.app:

Any ideas what might be going on? I know it's in a beta environment, but I
would appreciate any help. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling
 it several times.

I can confirm that this is a bug with Quicksilver. It seems it won’t work for
file UTIs at the moment because of this bug.
I suggest you file a bug on GitHub

See the ‘QSLoadImagePreviews’ option on http://qsapp.com/wiki/Hidden_Defaults
You might want to take a look at ‘QSFilePreviewTypes’ (on the same page) as
well if you still want to enable preview loading for certain files.

Re: Determining configuration issues?

2015-02-16 Thread Patrick Robertson
 (1) I have two laptops and installed QS on both. The odd thing is I get an
error when trying to attached something to an email on one and not the other.
In particular, on one I get a com.google.Chrome mediator is missing
notification on one. I cannot find out where they are configured differently
 or how to repair this!

Have you had a look at the Handlers section http://qs.qsapp.com/handlers of
the Quicksilver preferences to make sure they both match? You could try
re-installing the Chrome/Gmail plugins on the problematic machine to see if
that helps

 (2) On the laptop without the error, the email writes but the file is not
 attached. Why!

Unfortunately this is a limitation with the web interface in Gmail. There’s
currently* no way to attach a file without physically doing it yourself.

* last time I checked, around 2 years ago

 (3) Everything seems to go through apple contacts. I prefer to use gmail
contacts. Is that currently not available in the plugin? I'd rather not sync
 if it can be avoided.

Yes, unfortunately this is another limitation. The only ‘contacts’ plugin for
Quicksilver is for the built in Apple Contacts. This shouldn’t be a problem
though since the Contacts.app can sync pretty well with Gmail contacts (without
the need to ‘import’ anything. Try looking at the ‘Internet Accounts’ section

Re: Determining configuration issues?

2015-02-16 Thread Patrick Robertson
Tried both, no luck. Both Handlers match, and just deleted and reinstalled
the plugins with the same effect. I'm not really a programmer (anymore) but
can probably follow instruction if there is any easy way to diagnose (for
example, any config files etc). I poked a bit, but didn't know the app well
enough to know where to look.

Hmm… I’m stuck for ideas. Does anything useful show up in Console.app when this
happens?

Hopefully you have the manual now (from Rob) so fingers crossed you can work
some things out. Regarding what’s possible with the Gmail plugin - all it does
is constructs a URL for your browser to open. If Gmail has options (query
parameters) available as part of the URL, then the plugin can use it.

Regarding your problem with new lines - it works fine for me. Check the URL
when your browser opens the new Gmail link. The newlines should be percent
encoded as %0A

I know, and really this is a mild limitation, especially if I do what QS
seems to suggest is more natural (namely IMAP everything back to the mail
app, so that QS can completely send without opening.)

I could probably get pretty far, if I can get access to the manual that is no
longer linked on the website, any chance of sending a copy?

Also, a possible bug? If I create an email in the following manner:

 ***

 1 - bring up QS
2 - enter text mode and type an email of the form

 subject first line

 second line

 third line

 3 - compose email to

 4 - select contact

 ***

at least in gmail, the line breaks don't show up. This limits this function
greatly for gmail users; hopefully it is something naive I'm messing up.

If you have your email address in your Contacts, you can make sure your mail is

compose window to be filled out. The Send variant also uses the default
email client but doesn’t open a window; it sends the mail automatically.
Both the Compose and Send variants will start the default email client if
it’s not running. The Send Di- rectly variant doesn’t use the default
email client to send the message but does so directly from Quicksilver.
As a result it's primary benefit is that the default email client does
not need to be running. Note that if the default email client keeps a
Sent folder (like Mail.app does) the outgo- ing message is not stored
there. The Send Directly variant does get the SMTP configuration from the
first mail account listed in Mail.app, so make sure that is setup
  correctly.

Re: QS 1.2.1 and up crashes on 10.7.5

2014-12-26 Thread Patrick Robertson
I have experienced the same thing on 10.7

QS v1.2.1 and v1.2.2 are not supported by OS X 10.7, and should not be
showing up as updates for you. I can confirm however that there is a bug if
you are upgrading from v1.0 on OS X 10.7 - the download server *would*
offer the latest (unsupported) versions of Quicksilver.

This is something I have now fixed

On 25 December 2014 at 14:39, Richard Faasen richie...@gmail.com wrote:

I just upgraded to 1.2.2 and QS wouldn't startup anymore. I downgraded to
1.2.1, the same happened. At 1.2.0 it worked again.
 I'm running OS X 10.7.5.

I tried the following with the versions that didn't work:

 $ cd /Applications/Quicksilver.app/Contents/MacOS
 $ ./Quicksilver
 Segmentation fault: 11

I couldn't find any reference to this problem, so I was wondering if it is
just me. Any idea what it could be?

Re: Way too many processes

2014-12-14 Thread Patrick Robertson
Google Chrome uses one “Google Chrome Helper” for each Chrome tab (sometimes
more). If you have lots of Chrome tabs then this is normal.
It’s true that the way QS handles running applications needs updating, but
that’s already on the TODO:

Re: File icon issues in Yosemite.

2014-11-17 Thread Patrick Robertson
If you’ve seen this problem in another app, then it is almost definitely a
problem with Quicklook’s rendering system. What icon do you get in Finder
(which uses the same rendering system)?
If Finder has problems as well, then your best bet would be to file a bug
report with Apple

I find that depending on the size of rendition, certain file icons may or may

example the screenshot 'large.jpg' attached to this post, where a '.nb' file
(Mathematica notebook) shows up as a blank icon both in the main and
additional results sections. I changed the font size of the additional
results area from QS preferences and the icon showed up correctly, see
 'small.jpg'.

Any thoughts on why this may be happening? One other (public domain) app that
shows this same problem is TeXShop, that is used to edit latex (.tex) files.

Re: Window Interface -- Can it be made to reposition on each invocation?

2014-11-14 Thread Patrick Robertson
The source code is available for both interfaces:

The parts of interest will be:
Primer:
https://github.com/quicksilver/Quicksilver/blob/master/Quicksilver/PlugIns-Main/PrimerInterface/QSPrimerInterfaceController.m#L72
Window Interface:
https://github.com/quicksilver/QSWindowInterfacePlugIn-qsplugin/blob/master/QSWindowInterfaceController.m

I’m by no means an expert on this part of the code, so you’d be just as good as
me at solving the problem - but it looks like Primer explicitly re-centres the
interface every time it’s opened, whereas the Window interface doesn’t do this.
To me, it seems like this bug you mention is common to all QS interfaces (that
are movable) so the code that should probably be changed is in [1]. I.e., the
superclass of both the Primer and Window Interface Controllers

If you do go down the route of trying to fix the code, then post any problems
you might encounter over on

Moveable is good because with other non-moveable interfaces, sometimes that
Quicksilver pop-up obscures the text that I want to read.

The challenge is that when I undock from my external display and go native
with the Macbook Air 11, I'll lose the little Window. I mean, it'll be
positioned outside of the display of my MBA.
I noticed one or another one of the interfaces (I think it's the Primer
Interface), which is also moveable, seems to re-center the popup in the exact
middle of the display everytime that it gets invoked.

Is the source code for both interfaces available? Or, can a kind Quicksilver
dev contributor made the feature addition? I think that one could easily
snarf the code from the Primer interface and insert it in the appropriate
 spots of the Window Interface.

 Thanks in advance,

Re: MAS version of 1Password

2014-11-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
OnePassword only syncs the encrypted Keychain with iCloud, hence why it’s not
working. You could try enabling the ‘advance’ feature called “Enable
integration with 3rd party apps” (in the 1Pwd prefs), but I don’t know where
the files are then stored. I suggest you get in touch with the Agile support

sync.

Re: Block Activation While in Specific Apps?

Re: Bug Report? Quicksilver accessing aliases on Desktop whenever there is a change on Desktop

2014-10-29 Thread Patrick Robertson
I found the culprit for me.
I had an alias in my /Applications directory that was pointing to a file inside
the .dmg file. When Quicksilver needs to know more about a specific file (to
decide what actions can be run on it etc.) then it needs to see the actual
file. This is why it was mounting the .dmg.
The solution for me was to remove the alias - you shouldn’t really have an
alias to a non-mounted file anyway.

If I were you I’d check to make sure that you don’t have any aliases pointing
to a file *inside* your mounted network drives. If you do, then try removing
them. Here was mine:

PackageMaker.app - /Volumes/Auxiliary Tools/PackageMaker.app

Re: didn't quicksilver used to learn what I do with files?

2014-10-27 Thread Patrick Robertson
Quicksilver has only ever learnt based on what you type. It cannot predict what
action you want to run on certain objects (although it would be nice)
If you want 'open with' to be a higher priority than large time (for all files)
then you need to go to the actions preferences and drag the 'open with...'
action above the 'large type' action

Re: Cube interface suddenly disabled

2014-10-19 Thread Patrick Robertson
If you open the plugins preferences and select the Cube Interface, then open
the 'Info' (click the 'i' button) you'll see the reason why the Cube interface
is disabled...

The cube interface has not been updated to be compatible with QS v1.2, because
it uses various very old technologies. None of the current developers have
stepped forward to update, so I suggest you switch to a different interface or
try to raise support for/find someone to update the interface ;-)

You can copy and paste the file located at ~/Library/Application

Re: How do I downgrade the clipboard plugin?

2014-10-14 Thread Patrick Robertson
isn't that what version numbers are for? :-)

Quicksilver uses build numbers to distinguish between binaries. There was a
problem with the newer 1.4.2 on older versions of Quicksilver so we had to
quickly downgrade to the 1.4.1 version, but in a way that would ensure existing
users would be prompted to re-download this if they had the buggy 1.4.2

If you think there could be a better way of handling plugin versions, feel free

Re: Quicksilver causing imac shutdown?

2014-10-13 Thread Patrick Robertson
Strange, and I don't see how Quicksilver could cause the unexpected restarts.
Sounds like the guy was just having a laugh at your expense.

If the guy came to some logical conclusion, then he probably looked at the log
files in Console.app. Can you look in there and look for either some
Quicksilver crash logs or 'OS related' crash logs. The latter would be more
useful, but which log file in particular to look at could be tricky to work
out. You could start with looking in system.log (still from within Console.app)
and looking for any messages just before/after the shutdown.

Just to make sure - you are using the latest version of QS: 1.1.3 from
http://qsapp.com ?

without unplugging for a few minutes. It started happening quite frequently
and I took the iMac into the Apple store, expecting them to tell me about
some bad memory. They stress-tested it for a few days, handed it back to me
with a $0 bill and said, nothing's wrong with the hardware, the shutdowns
are being caused by an app called Quicksilver. I stared at the dude,
unbelieving, and then forced out, I'd rather pay for new memory He
stared at me, then said, I know that some people live and die by
Quicksilver, you might look into Alfred. I walked out with computer.

I have pretty much confirmed for myself that the unplanned shutdowns only
happen when Quicksilver is running. Sometimes it gives me a few days before a
shutdown, sometimes it doesn't make it through the startup sequence (which is
a little scary). Has anyone else experienced or heard of this?

Re: Stack Push, Pop, Swap, Rotate...

2014-09-29 Thread Patrick Robertson
Quicksilver already has this, it’s called ‘Recent Objects’. You can skip
backwards / forwards through recent objects using ⌘[ and ⌘] (just like you
would in a browser to go back/forward).

If you want to see all your recent objects, go to the catalog prefs and enable
Quicksilver Quicksilver Catalog Entries, and ‘Recent Objects’. You can then
search for ‘recent objects’ in QS, press → and you will see the full list of
your recent objects

Consider the following scenario: I comma-select a few files and I compress
them. Now I want to delete the originals. Oops, the comma-selected list is
gone. I can comma-select again, hoping I grabbed the same set and move them
to the trash. What about the archive? I better go fetch that again. Now,
where to put the archive... oh, in a directory that doesn't exist yet. OK, I
have a template for that, it doesn't work perfectly for directories but I can
make one in the right place. Now I need to go back and find the archive yet
again to move it to the directory.

Now the same scenario again, with quick triggers to operate a stack: I
comma-select a few files. Push. I compress them, and the archive appears.
Swap. Move to trash. Navigate to where I want to put the archive. Make the
directory. Swap. Move To... Pop. Done.

Re: search within text file

We've been aware of this limitation in the QS ranker for quite a while, and
I've tried to improve it in the latest version of Quicksilver (but I don't

Could you create an issue on GitHub so that we can keep track of it.
One alternative is that you could try the TextStart ranker (instead of the

 http://beta.jisho.org/search/***%20%23kanji

But it ends up sending this:

 http://beta.jisho.org/search/他%20#kanji

Quicksilver decodes the octothorp entity prior to submitting the request, so
it ends up not working quite the way I want. Just wondering if this is a bug,
or if is it necessary for some reason internal to quicksilver? I've tried a
number of workarounds, but nothing I came up with yet has worked to produce
 the desired results. Any ideas?

 Thanks,

Re: Option to disable the indexing of aliases.

2014-09-10 Thread Patrick Robertson
You should be able to do this for aliases with the latest version of
Quicksilver (by adding 'com.apple.alias-file' to the list of exclude types)
but it doesn't quite work.

This is where the line between whether or not we treat an alias as the
original file (for opening, editing etc.) or as an alias file alone becomes
difficult to distinguish.
You could create an issue on GitHub regarding this, and we could look into
it to see what's possible

Re: Send Directly

2014-09-09 Thread Patrick Robertson
There is actually an issue with Mavericks which I came across today whilst
coding the Mail plugin.
If you open Keychain Access.app and find your SMTP entry, is it part of the
'Local Items' keychain? If so, then Quicksilver has no way of reading this.
Your best bet would be to copy the item to the 'login' keychain (drag it to the
'login' entry on the left hand side.

If you're having problems with the 'Local Items' keychain in general then see
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5362 incase that offers a solution

 Ok

So I deleted all my SMTP from Mail and keychain then I tried to send direct
 email I got

 (/Users/shadow/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist, DeliveryAccounts)
 does not exist

 So this is good

Now I created my SMTP and tried again the direct email I got the same message

Message could not be sent: Invalid username or password

So it seems to me it can not access the keychain.

I checked the keychain for my SMTP, it's not allowing me to add any
application (similar to the picture posted by Mr. R), my keychain is unlocked
but for some reason the keychain will not allow me (other password I can
include application in the access control).

No useful result from the web but I will keep looking

When I check the logs I can see this error

I'm sure that I have the right username and password in my Apple mail

What do you think the issue? I'm not sure if quicksilver is using the default

 my Mail plugin 3.0.2

 Any help please?

Re: 1Password 4 and Quicksilver

2014-08-15 Thread Patrick Robertson
Unfortunately the 'Reveal in 1Password' action is effectively crippled, since
the 1Password guys have remove this ability.
I will get in touch with them to see if there's any other way of doing this.

I thought it was working at first too, but it's more likely that what you see
in Quicksilver is coming from ~/Library/Application Support/1Password because
it isn't deleted when you install 1Password 4. Before long, it's going to be
out of date because 1Password is no longer writing to that location. It moved
everything to ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4 and is only using
 that now.

Delete the old folder and you'll see what I mean. (1Password 4 will continue
to work, but Quicksilver won't see anything.)

Re: QuickView file in current pane

2014-08-06 Thread Patrick Robertson
You can already do this.

Use ⌘Y to quick view a file. If you want to use the spacebar, go into the
Quicksilver command prefs and change the ‘spacebar behaviour’

 Hi all,

I was wondering if it was possible to QuickView a file that's currently
highlighted in a Quicksilver pane? Just you would do in Finder when you've
selected a file and press the spacebar, then QuickView displays the file.

 Cheers,
 Diego

Re: Dictionary and Google Calendar plug-ins disabled

2014-08-04 Thread Patrick Robertson
If you select the plugin(s) in question, then click the little settings icon in
the bottom left of the window, there should be an option to 'Delete Selected
Plugin'.
The plugins are disabled since they no longer work, so should really be
uninstalled.

The best alternative to the Dictionary plugin is to install the services
plugin, then use the 'look up in dictionary' action (having typed a word into
Quicksilver's 1st pane)

 Hi,

I can't remove the Dictionary and Google Calendar plug-ins from the
'disabled' list. They are both also ticked in the 'installed list'. Is this
 normal?

Dictionary works to some extent, but I'm not offered the Define with
dict.org action described in the QS manual.

The Google Calendar plug-in doesn't work at all - no actions are available
 for it.

I'm running 1.1.3 on Mavericks. My version of the Dictionary plug-in is
1.1.4, updated 10/04/11; Google Calendar is A4, updated 10/02/07. Are these
plug-ins still functioning for most people?

 Many thanks,

 Adam
