That's probably my fault. I thought it might be too much for her to type
into the message's subject line so I suggested she just put Recipes From

Rather than using the subject line of recipes from Mama Peach, could you
give the titles? In this way, we would know if we are interested in them
before opening the message. This is merely a suggestion, not a criticism.
Thanks.

Buttery Bread Dough

INGREDIENTS:

1 package active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water (110 to 115ºF)

1/2 cup warm milk (110 to 115ºF)

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening, softened

OR 1/4 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening,
softened

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

2 1/2 to 3 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour, divided

Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray

PREPARATION DIRECTIONS:

1.

DISSOLVE yeast in warm water; let stand 5 minutes

2.

BEAT milk, sugar, salt, shortening and eggs in medium bowl. Stir in the
yeast mixture. Add 2 1/2 cups flour; beat well.

3.

TURN dough out onto a well-floured board; knead about 5 minutes, or until
smooth and elastic, adding only enough flour to make dough easy to handle.
Shape

dough into ball.

4.

SPRAY a large bowl with no-stick cooking spray; place dough in prepared
bowl, turning to coat. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1
1/2

to 2 hours. Punch down dough. Shape as desired.

BASIC LOAF

1.

COAT a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with no-stick cooking spray. Roll dough to a
rectangle about 1/4-inch thick and about 5 inches wide. Roll tightly along 5

inch side. Pinch seam and tuck sides under, again pinching seam. Place in
prepared pan. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.

2.

HEAT oven to 375ºF. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until light golden brown.

Makes 1 loaf.

The hands are best and use a bowl that's larger than you think you need.

Re: [CnD] under a misconception

2013-03-07 Thread MamaPeach
There are as many recipes that you don't have to cook anything first as
there are ones that you do. I rarely prepare any recipes for the crockpot
that require cooking something first. No need to let those that require
prior preparation deter you from using the crockpot. It just takes searching
for the type recipes that you want that do not take cooking an ingredient
before throwing everything into the pot.

Subject: [CnD] under a misconception

I've always heard how easy and convenient a crock pot is. I figured that it
would be just the thing for a beginning cook because you have to do so
little to get great meals. However, there are a lot of recipes for the
crock pot that I don't want to try because you have to brown the meat, boil
this or that, and then, basically use the crock pot to finish the process.
This is disappointing to me, because I figured, under an apparent
misconception, that you would put everything into the crock pot and let it,
not the cook, do the work. I don't want to have to cook the food before it
goes into a crock pot to complete the process I was hoping that it would
perform from start to finish. Some meals are the type I am looking for, but
a lot of them aren't. One exception to that is the chili recipe I make,
which I have previously posted. I use Venison, and I do grill it before it
gets thrown into the pot to cook for 8 hours on the low setting. It makes
the house smell really good all day, too, which is another thing that I do
like about the crock pot. You've been smelling something all day, and can't
wait to eat it!

Tube pans and bundt pans are interchangeable only if the cups they hold are
the same. For example, I think most tubes and bundts are generally a
ten-cup size. However, I have a tube pan that is a 12-cup size.
Obviously--if I'm making a 12-cup bundt cake recipe, I couldn't use my
10-cup bundt pan but would have to transfer it to the 12-cup tube. Also, a
nylon knife is a really good knife to use to go around the pan to loosen
your cake before you turn it out on the cooling rack when the in-the-pan
cooling time has expired.

Subject: [CnD] Two Cherry Pound Cake Recipes

Here are two different recipes for cherry pound cake which I found in
my files. I have not made them.

I think, though some of you who have more knowledge than I, that tube
pans and bundt pans are interchangeable.

CHERRY POUND CAKE

3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
5 eggs
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c. nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 med. Jar maraschino cherries
1 tsp vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening; add egg yolks. Then add flour, salt and
soda with milk. Add cherries and nuts. Beat egg whites and fold in;
add vanilla. Pour into stem pan and bake at dg300 for 1 hour.

ICING:
1 box confectioner's sugar
1 stick butter
Cherry juice from Cherries.
(Sorry there were no directions for the icing.)

**

CHERRY POUND CAKE

1 c. butter
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
4 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. sifted flour
1 c. drained cherries
3 tsp baking powder

Grease and flour 8 inch tube pan. Combine 1/4 cup flour with cherries.
Blend butter, sugar, cheese and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beat
well. Gradually add baking powder and two cups of flour (that were
sifted together). Fold floured cherries into batter. Pour into pan.
Bake at dg325 for 1 hour
20 minutes. Cool 5 minutes, then remove from pan.

I can post some cookie recipes using cake mix tomorrow. I have posted
several brownie recipes today and I don't want to get in trouble for posting
too many recipes in one day.

You need to put

Hello. I am wondering what is the email that the cooking in the dark
responses come from? It always ends up in my spam folder.
