Here we go: +1 (binding)
This release candidate looks pretty good to me, nice work everyone!
But of course, there's always something to nitpick about :-)
I checked the rat output and noticed one oddity:

That looks like a default comment template

Hi,
I would love to see the javadocs for the platform in future releases,

P.S.: Building the javadocs is not very eco-friendly, so it's better to
create them once per release instead of once per developer. ;-)

For the IPMC vote, I'd suppose it might be good to actually stage the

My personal opinion: seems the main issue here is that the nbexec expects
to get userdir (and cache dir) from the product/application launcher. If
that's good or bad, that I guess is a question to NetBeans Platform
architects, but this (as far as I can tell) is not really anything new in
this
:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/cache/lastModified/all-checksum.txt (No
such file or directory)
which means the paths nbexec is using are not entirely right.
So, overall, I believe this is good enough to get an Alpha out!

I'm attaching a very small 2Kb example NetBeans project that uses the
platform for running.
Instructions:
a) Unzip the platform at X somewhere.
b) Open the NetBeans IDE and choose Tools/NetBeans Platforms. Add the

I have noticed few problems with the build as well. Reported as

think none of them shall stop the process of getting the 1st draft of alpha

Each approach to this is potenially confusing.

Almost put 0. I'm only unsure on the subject line - surely we should be
saying Apache NetBeans Platform 9.0 alpha? Just wary of anyone (away from
here) getting the wrong impression that this is the first alpha for the IDE.

Remark: NOTICE file looks as if it could use some more line breaks. JUnit
notice is duplicated. Perhaps NOTICE file was handcrafted for this release?

Hi Michael,
I think that's right. I've re-run the job, specifying the version. The
updated artefacts are:
source:
https://builds.apache.org/view/Incubator%20Projects/job/incubator-netbeans-release/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/dist/netbeans-platform-source-platform-9.0-alpha.zip
MD5:
I guess it won't affect the signature, so +1 (binding).

Michael

Geertjan,
Shouldn't the artifact names end with 9.0-alpha?
