600 albums is 25 albums an hour for 24 hours.
25 albums an hour is one every 2.4 minutes, no pausing for eating,
sleeping or the washroom.

I have a collection of nearly 50'000 songs in flac. i have stored those
on multiple maxtor onetouch 3 drives. the slimserver itself i have
installed on a Via EPIA ME6000 with 1GB ram. OS is windows. everything
works fine, streaming from the internet, listening to the flac files
etc. but
I found when downgrading from 6.5 to be safe it is best to delete
everything include prefs files, caches and database and then
re-install.

I have just installed 6.3 and the required update to the squeezebox 3.
Rhapsody media server is showing on my squeezebox but whenever I select
anything to play I get a problem : can't connect to server message. I
have tried turning off ZoneAlarm firewall but this made no difference.

installation (the first one with 4 Slimp3/Squeezeboxes works fine).
I have set up a rather simple wireless installation consisting of a
Windows XP SP2 PC, a linksys router connecter via wire, and 5
Squeezeboxes2. One
Here is what I'd like to do, and I haven't found an easy way to do it. I
must be missing something:
Periodically I like to shuffle by song everything in my library. As
the songs play I'd like to add the ones I'm particularly fond of to a
playlist. Alternatively, being able to rate the songs
Zone Alarm works great for me...but I did have to tell it to allow the
IP of the SB3 and to allow SlimServer permission to talk back. My
guess is that you set ZoneAlarm correctly, and when you disablrd it the
Windows Firewall didn't have those exceptions.

Very minor but Softsqueeze 2.7 with excession-thin on Windows XP with
Sun Java Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05) has the LCD screen a few
pixels too low and to the right. Softsqueeze 2.3 doesn't suffer from
this.

so I switched to manual IP assignment outside the DHCP range - but same

Oh you may also want to check things out with Ethereal.
There's a conflict somewhere, especially since you indicate that DHCP
is assigning some addresses twice. A packet sniffer will provide
additional info.
