I've never bought any music from Apple. I prefer lossless and rip any
music I have. You don't have to buy any content from them to use their
hardware.
The only restriction I find is the types if music and movie files that
can be played but that's not a serious limitation.
Moved to Apple TV a while back and don't regret it.
The sb2 is in the drawer now waiting for the call from a tech museum or
given other posts perhaps ebay.
Atv for me works great with very little problems and the sound is
great.
It's a pity that sb's software for me anyway got very unreliable and
I have had a squeezebox for many years, still have it in fact but it's
in the drawer.
I got an AppleTv at Christmas and haven't looked back. The device is not
perfect but it's a damn sight more reliable than the sb2 it replaced.
With this AppleTv I can not only listen to all my music but watch

Since the update I've been getting this regularly. I've tried resetting

Mine did the same, but changing the screensaver when off to date and
time using the remote cured it. Previously I had the weather plugin as
a screensaver when off.

Tried the classic skin and it seems to mostly work, I'll try a few
others and see if I can get better results. The main problem now is
that you sit a distance from the tv screen and small characters are
hard to read. So I'll keep on looking. Thanks.

in the 4 or 5 years that I've had it. With 6.4 I would get
some freezes in the music but very rarely/1 mth and no display
freezes.

Well as they say, you don't have to buy from them.
Apple is selling DRM and Non-DRMed music.
The music is compressed.
I haven't bought any music from them because it won't work with SB, I
may now because some does.

You say you cannot edit the tracks. I think this may be a permissions
type problem.
I think if you look at the permissions for the disk you may find the
problem lies there.
I once tried to have a single itunes for multiple users on a system and
kept running into similar problems.

I just use supermarket (Tesco at the minute) brand discs and never get
burn errors.
If you haven't tried it try reducing burn speed, it might help.
Using either itunes or toast on a pioneer 111d drive on a Mac.

Maybe your burner is a bit fussy on the cdr brand.
I also tend to stop all activity when burning. ie don't download or use
any apps during the process. Maybe I'm being superstitious but
interruptions to the process are not good.

It's works excellently with all the computers in the house, all macs 1
wireless, 2 wired and 1 sb wired. It's just the sb that gives the
trouble.
As I said power cycling the router every morning 'cured' the problem.

What about putting the buttons on the top? This would only work if

I am using the 6.1b1 with 10.4.1 version, but I don't think that
would be the problem. No dev tools either.
Are the tracks in your other playlists showing up?
