I recently reinstalled XP on one of my computers and installed DX4WIN on it.
All appears to be working except I cannot bring up the Packet Window.
I have compared all screens to my other working DX4WIN on another computer. I
have all pull down windows working. Even the DX spots window is up.

Check the box leave all windows in original position. Then save and

See if that fixes it.

I have installed DX4WIN, Ver 8 on my Dell Laptop. Everything is working except
the Packet Window and the World Map Window.
For some reason I cannot open the Packet Window or the World Map Window. I
have it loaded on my Desktop Computer and it works fine.
Can anyone give me any suggestions
I noticed that when a spot is displayed such as the VP8ORK on my packet spot
window and another spot comes in for the same call/same band the previous
spot is wiped. How can I tell DX4WIN not to wipe this previous spot.
I like to see all the spots for the same call on the same band.

Just a suggestion Steve. As you have to re-arrange windows to take
advantage of the new bandmap. If screen real-estate is tight you can
minimize the packet window after you connect since all the useful data
appears in the Spot or Announcement window. That's what I do here.

As one might expect, this was cockpit error. On version 7, I had part of

Everything works in v8 as it was in v7. Sorry for the bandwidth, and
I cannot find anything in the help file, so would appreciate knowing how to
change the display format within the packet window.
For several versions now, I've had my DX4W windows arranged and sized the
same. WIth v8, the display of incoming spots (telnet) in the packet window

Hi Steve,
The Packet Window did not change in V8. Did you import your
preferences (via .INI file) from V7 to V8? My Packet Window looks
exactly the same in V7 and V8.
Maybe the cluster node you're connecting to is sending out a wider
format. You can set SET/WIDTH to narrow it.

Alan was looking at the wrong window. He was looking at the Packet Window,

I use this command on the AC0X cluster.
SH/WW/5
or SHOW/WWV/5 if you want eh whole string.
That will show you 5 lines. The Cluster software does not like sh/w it

This weekend I decided to use the packet window of DX4WIN for the first time.
I usually use an internet browser. I use an FT-1000MP. On this rig each band
has
an A channel and a B channel. Each press of the band button toggles between
A and B. I usually keep one of the 2 channels centered
it this way.

Check your setting for Warning messages in: File | Preferences | Packet1. If

If I remember correctly, in the 5.x version if I made the send part
(bottom) of the Packet Window smaller it stayed that way when I exited

every time. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, that is the way it used to work. In fact, the size of the send
window is also lost if you click on Maximize and then Restore. I
liked it the old way, and wonder if there is some new functionality that
is tied to this behavior. If not, perhaps it can be either restored to the
