[Dx4win] ADIF Import
Its is a very simple fix. Use a text editor and in the ADIF file from DXLog search and replace "import into DX4WIN "CQ WW SSB" info will show up in "Note for this QSO" field. I do this all the time. You can also import the log using a specific DX4WIN Group Number where each group is linked to a specific contest. This is also a good way to separate your DX4WIN log into different parts. When I try to import the JT-65HF software generated ADIF data into DX4WIN, DX4WIN delivers an error message indicating the file can not be imported. However, I also use Ham Radio Deluxe for some digital modes. I am successful in using the HRD software to import the same JT-65HF software generated ADIF data into HRD. [Dx4win] ADIF import from JT65-HF
Greetings all, I've started playing with JT65-HF and wanted to import the ADIF file that it creates. Apparently, it does not put a header in front of the data which, according to the ADIF spec that I read, is optional. However, when I try to import into D4W, it issues an error that the header can't be read and aborts the import. I can fix it trivially by editing the .ADI file to add a dummy header, but I'm wondering if this is a bug in D4W or if I've misread the spec and a header is actually required? Re: [Dx4win] ADIF import from JT65-HF
The file actually doesn't have a header at all. The first line was a CALL:6 just like any other data record. The issue seems to be that D4W expects there to always be a header. I re-read the spec, and it says: Optional header information may be included before the actual data in the file and If the first character of a file is , it is presumed to be the first field of the first data record. That signals to DX4WIN that the header is done and the QSOs are to begin. In this case, the header is empty, but DX4WIN still requires the end of header separator. It also keeps DX4WIN from reading files as ADIF that are NOT ADIF (yes, they could have '' as the first character on a line). I believe that DX4WIN is doing the right thing. I'll ping the ADIF reflector, as you pointed out, it does not explicitly say that EOH is required, but I believe most developers have inferred this. -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Should be easy Brian; 1) Filter the QSO's in question - F8; select the group name; and maybe that dates of the QSO's you need to change 2) Select QSO , Multiple QSOs operations, Set Group Number ; then change Group number !! I think thhat there was something special about ) by the way; you normally only use 1 upwards !! 73 Dave G3NKC On 09/04/2010 05:18, n...@aol.com wrote: I'm running version 5.03 on an old computer system (long story). [Dx4win] ADIF IMPORT ANOMALY
Hi Paul, I have just installed the 7.06.02 release. NOT changes found in the ADIF import anomaly that I have indicated to you on june!! So, try yourself 1) - Export a log in ADIF mode. In the ADIF file produced you find the QSL_VIA field (This is correct !!) 2) - Import the data from the same ADIF file. The Notes for this call field will be populated by QSL VIA ETC (This is wrong !!) DX4WIN use a proper qsl manager database!!! The IMPORT/EXPORT ADIF FILTER must be modified in the import side. So please modify that routine. [Dx4win] ADIF IMPORT ANOMALY
Hi Paul, Thanks for the 7.05 release. But You forgot to fix the ADIF IMPORT routine. I send again to You my email of Tuesday, June 10, 2008. So if You want however to import the QSL_VIA MNGR, (unnecessary for Dx4win), please redirect it to Notes for this QSO field, and NOT to Notes for this Call. Usually I must use montly the Adif Import , to exchange and sincronize data from T77C, T77CD, KH6ZM and KH6YR logs, and I must modify the received files to avoid that the Notes for this Call not be populated from unrelated data. Very good point Alan, and I have the SAME CALL window open all the time and use that very piece of information, often I will comment to a station when having a QSO that it is good to get there name as our other QSO's are all contest ones. Just to re iterate one point though, use the same group each year for the same contest. Saves using all those groups and you can still tell at a glance which year it was by the date. If you really need to home in on one year just make a selection with a date filter. I went home at lunch and changed some settings in DX4WIN and on the 706, no cigar. Next I loaded the testing software CIVTEST to test communications between the radio and the computer. First I tested the CT-17 on COM4 and I could not communicate. Then I tested the CT-17 on COM1 and the same results, no communications. I have one of those cables made by the N9 in Arkansas and put it in line. First I tried COM1 and it worked! Then I tried COM4 and it did not work. I only have COM1 internal to my computer and then I have a ByteRunner Serial card with COM ports 4 through 11 on a spider cable. I know COM8 is working because that is how I key my Mark-V with the W5XD interface. So I moved the cable back to COM1 and changed DX4WIN to COM1 and again, no cigar. There are 8 settings for the second radio in DX4WIN and here are my settings: Type: ICOM 706 Address: 48 Baudrate: 9600 COM Port: 1 Poll Rate (ms): 5000 Max Tries: 6 DTR high: checked RTS high: unchecked I know that the rig talks to the computer when I use CIVTEST but it does not work with DX4WIN. [Dx4win] ADIF Import question
Scott, A better solution to putting the contest name in the notes is to import the contest log into it's own group, the group name will show up in your log window and you can use the same group year after year if you want to look at one year just make a selection using a date filter. If you really must put the name in the notes then just use the find and replace function in a text editor on the adif file. You already have a comment in the adif you don't want for the frequency so do something like this. Find comment:7 (the one for the frequency coment) and replace with comment:12CQWW Contest. Get the idea, you fix two things in one hit note the comment:7 should match the comment for the frequency entry you said you had in your adif file, I'm just guessing here what it might be. You may have to do this a few times if you changed bands that caused the frequency to be longer or shorter as the number in the comment:7 will match the length of the data. This is to your advantage as the old frequency data will be ignored as long as you make sure the replacement comment:12 number matches exactly the new message you want which is entered immediately after the comment:12. Hope this makes sense, it is always hard to know how much someone understands already when sending these messages. All of this should take about 5 minutes, no need for Paul or anyone to write programs. The problem with people writing these converters is things change, an example is I live outside USA and often the data in my log is different to what USA participants have so a nice little converter program someone has lovingly crafted is junk for me. So the text editor is often a superior way of doing it. 73 John ZL1BYZ. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Scott Neader KA9FOX Sent: Tuesday, 13 June 2006 4:43 p.m. To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] ADIF Import question Maybe this has been asked a 100 times before, but I can't find it... my apologies if this is a dupe... [Dx4win] ADIF import quandary
N1MM Logger's ADIF export has the Contest_ID field in every QSO record. I did as Alan suggested, and it does work, for a single COMMENT or a single NOTES fields per QSO record. I'm now trying to get multiple COMMENT and NOTES into their respective fields, as Alan says can be done, so that I can pick up names from NAQP and Sprint, etc. First effort didn't work, so I am probably doing something wrong. 73, Pete N4ZR At 07:50 PM 3/16/2005, Jim Reisert AD1C wrote: At 02:02 PM 3/16/2005, Alan N5NA wrote: You need to replace CONTEST_ID with COMMENT. [Dx4win] ADIF import quandary
I'm trying to import my N1MM log into DX4WIN 6.03, and am having problems understanding how DX4WIN decides which ADIF fields to import and where to put them. For example, when I import an unmodified ADIF log, the import goes fine, but for every contest QSO the frequency to several decimal places (FREQ, in ADIF) plus the transmitted serial number (STX, in ADIF) are both put into the Notes for QSO field. What I would like to import into this field, in most cases, is the name of the contest (CONTEST_ID). I couldn't care less about the frequency or the STX (which in many cases, at least with MM, is not an actual contest exchange serial number, but a mythical creature, in contests that don't require one). I tried using a word processor to replace CONTEST_ID with STX, and that worked, so far as importing the contest name, but it wound up labeled with SerNr= in every QSO record. I have rummaged through the import file editor, as well as the help, and have not been able to find anywhere that explains which ADIF tag is mapped to which location in DX4WIN's record structure, or the extent to which the mapping can be changed. Can anyone enlighten me? 73, Pete N4ZR The World HF Contest Station Database was updated 12 January 2005 2868 contest stations at www.pvrc.org/WCSD/WCSDsearch.htm

N1MM puts CONTEST_ID in each QSO line so it's easy to just replace it with COMMENT and then DX4WIN will put it in the Notes for this QSO field. If you don't have CONTEST_ID in each QSO line and would like to have the contest name in the Notes for this QSO field just do a search and replace on the EOR field in each line. Just replace it with something like COMMENT:1110m Contest EOR. Just have to remember to include the EOR back into the replace string. Marc, I also use both programs and I do this all the time. Just open your exported ADIF in WordPad or whatever, and do a search and replace (ctrl+H) Replace EOR with: comment:xxhere goes your commentEOR where XX = number of characters (including spaces!) in your comment tag. Be sure to end the comment with EOR, as it is the end of record tag. And be sure to preceed the number of characters by a colon (:). Example: comment:25OO4MA in ARRL DX SSB 2005EOR To get rid frequency; do this: replace freqwith brol Because brol is not a recognised ADIF tag, DX4WIN will skip this and drop the info. Note: Flemish users will know what brol is ;o) To get rid of QSO numbers, also change STX and SRX to brol Then import. You will get some zone errors as both programs have a different view on CQ zones. Therefore I delete all CQZ tags as well, and let DX4WIN decide. I guess this has to do with CTY files, but I am not an expert on CTY matters... Good luck! Franki ON5ZO - Original Message - Hi, I want to import my contestlog from n1mm in to dx4win. That would be a wonderful addition to DX4WIN and you have described the necessary settings that would be useful. Although you can do replace existing data now, that is not nearly as useful as letting you be asked on a per-item basis. Since many people who send records to LOTW do not seem to know their zones, etc., a wholesale replace is not advisable and will quickly foul up the countries database exceptions. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of K2DBK - David Sent: Saturday, January 22, 2005 5:29 PM To: Jim Reisert AD1C Cc: DX4WIN List Server Subject: Re: [Dx4win] ADIF Import of LOTW I can see this being useful as an option, with settings like: -Imported data does not replace existing data -Imported data completely overwrites existing data -Imported data only overwrites missing data -User is asked on a per-item/per-QSO basis You listening Paul? :-) At 04:34 PM 1/22/2005, Jim Reisert AD1C wrote: At 02:45 PM 1/22/2005, J.
