The easy way to do it if you are running N1MM is to just enter a 0 in
the callsign window. That doesn't work for 17 and 12 because it takes
you to 18.000 and 24.000. In N1MM, any 1, 2 or 3 digit number entered in

Hi Bob,
To get that display, you need to be in Fixed-Tune display mode. When it
shows +- frequencies, it is in Tracking mode. Tap Menu, select FixTrack,
and tap the knob to toggle between the two displays. I have one of the
function keys set up to do that but I rarely use Tracking mode,

Hi Charles,
The Edgeport unit is a great deal. It expands one usb port to 4 serial
ports and is easy to install (although I haven't tried it on a Windows 7
laptop yet). When I got mine on ebay it was about $50US. There is one on
there now for $59 and a couple more for about $80.

Last Monday Mike and Andy had the exchange below.
Andy has the right idea about keeping the AGC slope setting so that it
reduces the AGC compression. That would be Slope=0. The threshold also
has an effect and determines the signal level that the AGC compression
cuts in. At present, the highest
Hi Bill,
There is usually about one/month and they notify me about them. When I
next get a notice I'll post it on my website and let the list know.

Hi Bob,
FWIW, Chapter 9, The P3 Panadapter from The Elecraft K3: Design, Configuration
and Operation can be found at
http://www.ke7x.com/home/guide-to-the-k3/the-p3-guide. It has color screen
shots. (Unfortunately, the spiral bound book and pdf from Lulu is only
black-and-white :-(. )
73,
Lulu has a 20% discount available this week for the K3 book. The
discount code is BURIED305 (must be a Holloween theme!).
See www.ke7x.com for more info.

What happens if you tap DISP? Do you see the alternate VFO B display

Hi Jorge,
In the Config menu, you can set VFO IND to yes to allow VFO A and VFO B to be
set on two different bands.

Hi Michael,
When I got my DVR I cogitated on how it all work and wrote up an
explanation that helped me understand it. I put it in the KE7X K3 book
and also put it up on

The Elecraft K3:Design,
You can connect your PC's com port to the K3's com port and use either RTS or
DTR to key the radio. Have a look at the PTT-KEY configuration menu item in
your owner's manual. Section 3.3.2 in The Elecraft K3: Design, Configuration,
and Operation describes how to do this in greater detail. An
You might also need to do a firmware load. The instructions for this are
in the K3 Utility. Search the help for reset or troubleshooting.

I recently started to learn how to use W7EL's Eznec antenna modeling
program so I decided to try to model the 43' vertical. I don't quite see
the magic but a 4:1 un-un looks like it will bring the impedance into
reason for 80, 40, 14 and 18. The antenna resonates at 5.7, 16.7 and 28
