1) Can I use pin 7, on the KIO2 labeled RF but appears that nothing is
connected to it, to drive transistor keying of the radio instead of the
parallel port?

I've done what you're talking about with CT but not N1MM.
I haven't used CT with serial port keying for 6 years so the memory
is a little hazy. Turns out you can't have the rig control and
keying on the same serial port with CT. You can run them on separate
serial ports,
the two communications pins (TxD and RxD) WILL cause
failures in your K2. Thus you want to be very careful about what you let near
your K2...

Yes. I use Writelog as a contest logger and have always set

It looks to me that the KIO2 manual does not tell you which side of P1 (long or
short pins) goes through the holes in the AUX PC board. Since all of the others
in the K2 and KPA100 use the short pins, I am assuming that will work. It is
also a VERY tight fit - maybe the holes are a little too

Once again I want to thank you for your help in repairing my Elecraft.
I followed your instructions and quickly discovered that pin 8 on the DB9 of the
KIO2 was not soldered. Pressure alone had held it in place and it sure looked
solid, but with magnification I saw it was not the same
Now that my KPA100 is working well, I'd like to return it to the EC2 case
separate from my K2. However, the KPA100 does not want to talk to the K2
through my KIO2. The KIO2 had been working at one time.
To be sure the problem was in the KIO2 and not the KPA100, I tried to use the
KIO2 to
