CocoaModem is an excellent program. But it's 32 bit so it won't work after Mac
OS 10.14.6 (Mojave). All Mac OS after that require 64 bit applications. The
developer hasn't supported it for years but the code is free and available for
anyone having the skill to update it to 64 bit.

I thought this was way off-topic, so was going to reply off-list, then I

Not tried xoscope (might go have a look) but I used baudline on
Ubuntu Linux to set up my K2.

Thanks, guys, for the helpful responses. I'll give baudline a try.
And I enjoyed your note, too, Ron. :-)

Keith,
I am not familiar with this particular case, but usually people only
want to use log scales when the data range spans over many decades. If
you take the logarithm of your data the decades become equidistant, in
other words, the distance between 1, 10, 100, 1000, ... will be the
same.
Kieth,
I set the X axis (freauency scale) to linear because it is easier to read.
Yes, the passband will go off the right of the screen with the default scale
settings - I change the 'Band (Hz)' parameter in the right side of the setup
screen to show from 200 to 2956 Hz when aligning the 2.6 kHz
Well to start, I dont see a AFIL in the K2 menu and dont see any
switches, jumpers, etc on the DSP board.
Put the DSP in BYPASS mode.

Rather than attempting to walk you through the steps to bypass the KDSP2 (it
is in the KDSP2 menu which is kicked in with the DISPLAY button, not AFIL).
I suggest you drag out the KDSP2 manual and follow the instructions to put
it into bypass state. Actually, I never remember the exact
John,
I didn't see any other responses to this so I thought I'd jump in again. The
PC-based oscilloscope using a sound card is severly limited in bandwidth. The
typical sound card will limit your bandwidth to about 20Khz, which is hardly
even sufficient for audio work and totally useless for
John,
Sjpectrogram is a FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) spectrum analyzer program. It's
display is amplitude versus frequency. What you need to display the Christmas
Tree and CW waveforms is an oscilloscope display. In the case of the
Christmas Tree, the oscilloscope is set up to display RF
John,
No - what you are asking about is a time-domain display as you would see on
an oscilloscope, Spectrogram provides a frequency-domain display by
computing the FFT of the input signal - i.e. Spectrogram is a spectrum
analyzer, but it is limited to audio frequencies.

Andrew,
That spike looks like an actual signal within the passband. It may be some
kind of pickup in the noise generator you are using or on the connecting
cable (coax?), or it could be pickup in the audio path to the computer. It
certainly does not look like any shape that exists in the actual
