A week of sun and decent propagation was nice. I enjoyed it. The
flowers are telling me the countdown to fall has begun. Turk's cap
lilies and foxglove. Seems like summer only got here yesterday :)
Please join us tomorrow afternoon and evening.
1) Hail signs (first
Good Morning,
It is too cold in here to type well. With night time temperatures
in the mid 40s the house gets quite chilly each morning. Right now it
has warmed up to 50 degrees. I cannot wait for summer to get here with
a few days in the 70s or even in the 80s (it could happen). But
Good Evening,
The last two weeks have been cold and wet. Highs in the upper 50s
are the best so far but that may change next week. Looks like I'll get
a little sun, a short reprieve from the rain, and temperatures in the
low 60s again. I wish I could send my weather east to Colorado;
I grew up with an attic full of ARC 5s. My dad was the radar/radioman
on B-24s and the radioman on B-17s so he kept them all in fine shape.
When I opened one I found perfect solder joints with each resistor lined
up EXACTLY with the next one. Each was a piece of art which I admired.

I keep seeing all the email about more bass but wonder why you never go
fishing for perch or walleye. Each of those can be fun too. Or the
lowly bluegill. You can catch a lot of them, they are tough to clean,
but they are fine eating.
Expand your repertoire and include some other excellent
Good Afternoon,
Last week's nets ran well but my schedule cannot seem to fit in the
reports afterward. I need to find the time on the same day so I can get
these out faster. Conditions on twenty meters were OK but there were
many stations with QSB and some mentioned the same with my
Good Evening,
Wow, my ears are still ringing from the second net. Noise just kept
increasing as I tried digging deeper. I lost one fellow at the end of
the net but got an email from him. He was trying out his new KX3 from
Corvallis. It is surprising I was able to get any of his call
Good Evening,
Another cool rainy week has passed. No sun today but it was warm
and humid. High humidity is rare here no matter what you may think of
the Pacific Northwest. It can be in the rainy season when it rarely
stops pouring and the humidity is only in the 40% range. But today it
Good Evening,
What an event filled week. First a partial lunar eclipse and then
the second transit of Venus. In 2004 I was unable to find a break in
the clouds. This time around I was able to sneak 15 minutes of viewing
out of the event by waiting for the holes in the clouds to pass over
6 x 2 x 0.5 gives 6 cu in. Which is 98 cubic centimeters. at 22.5
gm/cc that gives 2212 gms. The going price for a gram of osmium is $61
which makes your weight cost about $134,947 not counting machining,
mounting, plus shipping and handling. Quite the fancy weight for your
rig Wayne :)
