That was my plan for my Samson manual lathe from the git go until my Hardinge CHNC showed up at my door step. I did plan on using a steel plate to mount things to just for the added stiffness the steel would have. I was going to hang the linear rails for the Z under the plate and wrap around

I'm not sure of the value, I paid $1400 for mine a few years back with a Crusader M L control (has a CRT), but the control didn't work right away so I replaced it with EMC2. The servo motors, drives, and all worked fine, just had to replace the control itself. Mine came with an Aloris QC
