setup.exe will run when you insert the disk in the server. If it doesn't, navigate to it and double-click. www.exinternals.com and www.microsoft.com/exchange will guide you. client side, it doesn't care whether it's sendmail4, yahoo plus, or exchange 2000. your pop3 client should have

RE: OWA error

In my experience, this is usually related to a permissions issue with IIS. TechNet has gobs of info on ASP 0115 errors. Here is a test. Give everyone that has access to OWA administrative privileges on the server. If that solves your problem, then you know it is a permissions issue this is

RE: E2K M Drive (moving it)

You don't move the M: drive. You move the databases. The M: drive is a virtual directory. Your E2k databases can be spread across multiple drives, and M: is still an amalgamation of them. To move the actual data, you right-click on the mailbox store you want to move, in Exchange System

We used to get this all the time, but it went away when we went to NT SP6a and MSX SP4 (and a weekly reboot). You might try re-installing first NT SP6a, then MSX SP4 just on the offhand chance something didn't get patched right the first time around. -Original Message- From: Semiglia,

I've noticed that ISPs are starting to block outgoing port 25 connections except to their own mail servers. They are doing that for the same reason not leaving your mail server open relaying is a good idea, which is: spam prevention. In this case it is to prevent the other ISP customers, not

O.K. I understand that the M: drive is a virtual directory, but when I look at the available space on the M: drive it matches the space of another drive, in this example M: = D: how do I change that, I have moved the Exchange DB and streaming DB, but the M: drive still represents the D: drive

Dumb Question about Relaying

2001-11-19 Thread Murphy, Brian
I'm ready to get flamed for this one. (Be gentle)Better to learn the hard way then not at all. I have heard everyone talk about not relaying mail or not allowing the relaying of mail. But what exactly does that mean? For example, I have my system setup to NOT relay mail as per the FAQ.

No it doesn't. The M: drive represents whatever drive the STM and EDB files are stored on. Don't worry about what M: is reporting as its fullness or emptiness. It has many service packs to go before it can comprehend that kind of zen. If you're worried about how much room your D: drive has

Ohhh I think this is good news . . . I'm not worried about how much space is represented by the M: drive I am worried that the data that is represented by the M: drive, which is a folder named by the domain of the Exchange server and then inside that each user has a folder, will grow bigger than

Brian, The idea behind the relay-secure article is to protect your system from being used as a bounce. By default Exchange 5.5 is open to be exploited as a mail bouncer by anyone. When I first learned about this I became curious to see how many of the people on this list and others I knew were
