sender/time/subject of the mails in order to notify users, then deleting
them.

Ok, so now you can see the hidden mailboxes, but not the CR's?
Sounds logical to me I guess. The recovery procedure you used is really
designed for single mailbox recovery.
To restore the directory service and info store, it has to be on a machine
with the same name, access to the original NT
TechNet is your friend. Q239427 was my second hit when I searched the
KB for (of all things) journaling.

I'm taking a stab here, but I think I'm right.
There doesn't appear to be a reverse DNS entry at all for
exchange.cityhall.luminet.net - and I'll bet that they are doing reverse DNS
based on your inbound connection, getting no response, and dropping the
connection.
I suggest rebuilding your plan from the ground up.
Read the FAQ (Link is below) - there is a well developed set of steps to
doing it the right way.

OK, let me pose it a different way.
Why are you supporting Netscape? When it comes to Exchange, Outlook is the
supported product of choice, followed by Outlook Express for POP and IMAP.
You have invested a lot of money in a very fine product to have to be
troubleshooting 3rd rate mailers.

Line-wrapping done at the server or the sending client is an archaic
functionality. The client is now expected to understand how to display a
message. Looks like Netscape is either misconfigured or brain-dead (or
hopelessly outdated).

Unless mentioned, I typically believe we are speaking of Windows programs.
In this case I heard nothing of Linux.

70 characters for outbound plain text messages. You can turn it off.
