co-existing and suppressed the 172.16 net NIC. I have since tried

Gave up on the mandrake and cooker rpms - in my case would not print
past page 4 (just repeated page 3) or crashed when trying to load a file
saved by the prev version. Downloaded the latest generic rpm's from
abiword themsleves yesterday and installed. Fixed those probs - but

OOOPS forgot one thing. The modems they use are USB based so if you
don't have USB on the linux box it definitely won't work. However my
cable modem is supposed to be usb and it also has a port for
ethernet... I use the ethernet it's more reliable.

getting caught on a conflict.. abiword-fonts also hits an earlier
version and rpm -UVH does nothing.
