my experience has been that starting from normal noteheads and
changing individual noteheads as needed is the easiest way to go.
that said, i NEVER use finale's percussion maps and don't use
playback for percussion ever.

up the dialogue)
there is *very* often no real need for "alternate" noteheads, when
the instruments are being played in "normal" ways. for example,

one thing (duration) is now spread in several places and
simultaneously requires different types of on-the-fly mental calcs

such thing in practice as "real" proportional music spacing. or
rather, all music spacing is proportional to varying degrees but some
circumstances warrant an *almost* 2:1 ratio in horizontal spacing of
doubled durational

the right character set to show.

i add a bookmark to the PDF documents i prepare (title pages + score) --
[compiled 27 july 2016] -- and edit out the bookmark function (so nothing
happens when you click on it), and set up the file to always show the bookmarks
panel. this is in addition to the indication which edition the score
could be some people interested here. this is an
exciting project i am involved in that will give
an overview of and help delineate the various
practices in "animated notation".

behaviour in finale. a colleague has asked me about this (pc F2014),
had a similar problem with merging files, staff styles were not
included. as i say, no solution from me (because i haven't tested

duplex A3 printer prints perfectly from finale but shrinks by about
5% when printing from PDF (acrobat standard) even with all the

with my recent system/app upgrade everything was moved to a new SSD
(block by block transfer) and a partition to boot in 10.6.8 was set
up. so my working version of 2012 is on yosemite, not on the
partition where 10.6 is installed (which it runs on).
is there any problems in just moving the
create 1 or more dedicated staves, resize them in page view to 200%
(after final layout is done, this gets undone easily)
optionally only have the time sigs showing on the time sig staves in
order to reduce white space at the start of the measure:
- set a negative value to start of measure
that's true, i consciously forgot about that possibility in earlier
versions after fighting with the positioning, things attached to the
wrong (hidden) staff, but actually no reason not to just do it last,
even back then :-)

with 10 half-beams and strange tied values.
If all you need to do is copy tuplet settings, my Mass Copy plugin
does it without any fuss. (Copying tuplet
