Does anyone have a pkgtools.conf file that restarts updated services?
I'm trying to get this going, so i don't have to restart all of them
manually, wanting the update process to run as automated as possible via a
cron script.

error when it atempts to download f-prot-sig and another file presumably the

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried an uninstall/reinstall, but am still
getting the error. It's an error code1, not when making a specific package
during the portsdb -Uu but the process can not complete successfully.

going through the resulting log file which vividly detailed the smtp
transaction i got the same error from smtpd as in my original post, no
additional information.

I want to turn DHCP on my router off.
How can I use FreeBSD to get an IP addresss from it? When the system
boots, it runs dhclient, which hangs for awhile before getting anything.
What is the better way?

There were some security problems with cvs awhile ago. I think it is
unlikely that cvsup3.jpg.FreeBSD.org though would be suffering.
Have you tried another cvsup server?

I got a simple problem. My local IP addresses keep changing (didn't have
this problem before until a firmware update), and I don't want them to.
I got these spammy winboxes that greedily race for to steal my FreeBSD's
lease. I'm using a simple 4-port linksys router here. It's configuration
is
power downs when a
shutdown -h or halt -p is issued. This is not working. I get the press any
key to reboot but the system never powers down.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I am trying to get my freebsd machine to access the internet but, I can only get the
machine to ping itself. Everytime I try to ping outside the machine I get no route
found. I believe my problem lies in the configuration of the ethernet card. Running
ifconfig shows me that everthing is

a can not ping or ssh to machine b, from machine a's point of view it's as
if machine b doesn't exist, yet machine c has no difficulties interacting

I'm getting a kernel panic when trying to mount a
nwfs file system or when trying to do a ncplist s.
The system also panics on shutdown,
referencing IPXrouted in the panic.
Instruction pointer is c0516a06 and
nm turns up nothing with
nm -n /boot/kernel/kernel|grep c0516a06.
With
nm -n
on it at all. Not 100% sure on that.

Hello,
I'm trying to get the perl Filesys::Df module to build under 5.1, so far
it fails during the testing phase and therefor will not make. This is right
off of cpan, does anyone have a fix for this?

install kde3 the metaport:
cd /usr/ports/x11/kde3 make install
create file .xinitrc with startkde in it
startx with whatever options you want to startx with
I use:
startx -- -depth 24
works for me.
