Re: [Audyssey] action muds/online games

2009-06-08 Thread Greg

Hello Helena,
I think I have found your problem. You are using ed-wolfpaw.net and it is
actually ed.wolfpaw.net. You are putting a dash between ed and wolfpaw
instead of a period. The port number is correct.

Hope this helped,
Greg W.

Re: [Audyssey] action muds/online games

2009-06-08 Thread Ryan Strunk
I don't know how Hal does it but in JAWS you can reassign words to be
pronounced differently through a dictionary manager. It's primary use is for
words that JAWS pronounces wrong, and you want to fix how they sound.
Example: :) = smily.

I haven't looked at the actual game tags yet, but I'm wondering if it would
be possible to take all of the text you find in the URL attached to each
planet and remap it to say ... a blank space, perhaps. That way instead of
http://blahblah.com/image/planet/squishy you would remap everything but the
squishy to a single space. Then the image would just say squishy. I propose
this because I assume the url text at the beginning is the same for all the
links.

This trick has also come in very handy in muds. In Lusternia I used to get
really tired of seeing a statue every time I entered a new room. Now, as a
result, I just replace the statue text with a blank space in the dictionary
manager, and I'm no longer aware of them.

Hope this helps,

Ryan

A what?

I could certainly get Hal to speak things differently if I input the text
and setup specifics in the map files, but I'd have to do this
individually for each in game immage address, - which just wouldn't be
worth it.

More stuff seems to be labled now, and I've been able to complete the Ashar
trading, mining and refigning missions, - though I'll have to hunt
around sinse I can't see the player trade icon anywhere which seems required

for the next one.

This game does indeed have potential, I just hope it doesn't get overtaken
by the pvp mob, and people will keep adding missions, descriptions and other

activities sinse I could see it becoming a litle grindy if new npc content
such as missions aren't added in.

but I'll certainly reserve final judgement until I've played a bit
more, and especially until more images are labled which will make the
screen less spammy if nothing else, - though I didn't find navigating
around too difficult, especially using the find function in hal's vf.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Hal reads the link address, which in most cases is actually useful and tells
you there's a link there, -- often it includes information on what the
image is for, for instance in a forum using graphics there might be a
"submit" image instead of a link, with an address having the word "submit"
in it.

I will admit in cases like this it can be a bit of a pain and make things
tedius as you said, because of having to sit through long readings of http
addresses to know what a particular link is, -- though it is stil
workable, as with the mining thing.

Fortunately though, core exiles will hopefully soon have all labled images
which will speed things up nicely.

It must have something to do with the way hal reads immages, that is the
screen reader you use if I'm not mistaken dark? Jaws seems to read the links
fine, and now I think he's added labels or something, because in most cases
the buttons have changed from saying things like immage_eden to just saying
the name of the planet or station or whatever you're trying to land on. Its
definitely accessible, but very tedius.

same thing applies to jaws, nvda, and wineyes if you turn the right
thing on. hal actually makes some things complicated like "mixed
links" where it puts a link in a bit of text. that made me hit enter
and get nothing at times when I was at scool where we had this
annoying piece of software which I would call a verry, verry verry
verry last resort lol. I'll need to try core exiles though, the game
sounds itneresting. also as far as action games go you might try out
exmafia.com, accasionally there is a captcha popping up but you can
solve these with web visum.

It's just those unlabled images for planets.

Yes I can tell where they are and click them, but I don't want to have to
read a loong stream of http address just to know what blasted planet
I'm looking at.

this would be deffinately easy for the admins to fix, so I really hope
someone is having words with the powers that be in the game.

core exiles is quite accessible.
the galaxy map is not, and you have to bother around with the jumpgate
system to get anywhere so it may detract from itself.

most stuff works.
Hopefully things will get better.

Just a quick question.
Does anyone know of any good action muds/online games?
I've tried a lot of them. They just seem to be midevil.
I know that there are such games as miriani and star conquest. But
those are scifi.
I'm looking for something that is a mud/online game that is action
oriented. Send me any ideas you have.
Thanks much,

I use jaws used to be loads of numbers and such but its easier now.
my next plan is to email coops, which seems to be the maid admin and get
somethings about items sorted.
you can buy 1, 10, 50 and 100 of an item but not 2-9, or which would be good
I'd like 20 30 40 at least, after 50, maybe 70 or something.
but its just a drop in the box right about now.
it does appear that they are trying to put in my suggestions though as the
planets were not like they were before I wrote in.

Re: [Audyssey] action muds/online games

2009-06-07 Thread dark

This game does indeed have potential, I just hope it doesn't get overtaken
by the pvp mob, and people will keep adding missions, descriptions and other
activities sinse I could see it becoming a litle grindy if new npc content
such as missions aren't added in.

but I'll certainly reserve final judgement until I've played a bit
more, and especially until more images are labled which will make the
screen less spammy if nothing else, - though I didn't find navigating
around too difficult, especially using the find function in hal's vf.

core exiles is quite accessible.
the galaxy map is not, and you have to bother around with the jumpgate
system to get anywhere so it may detract from itself.
most stuff works.

Thanks much,

core exiles is quite accessible.
the galaxy map is not, and you have to bother around with the jumpgate system
to get anywhere so it may detract from itself.
most stuff works.
Hopefully things will get better.

I’m looking for something that is a mud/online game that is action

Re: [Audyssey] action muds/online games

2009-06-07 Thread dark
Hmmm, I'm not precisely sure what you mean by "action" exactly, but
Metroplexity is an online brouser game set in a cyberpunk style city of the
near future.

Drugs, crimelords, weerd cybertech that sort of thing.

Cyberpunk is a subgenre of Scifi I suppose, but totally different from The
intersteller type of stuff.

The ulr is http://www.metroplexity.com/

Hope you have fun with it.

there is also Torn city which is a brouser game set around mobs and the
mafia, where you can do crimes, work for various criminal organizations etc.
I don't have the ulr, but check on audiogames.net for the index page.

hth.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] action muds/online games

Just a quick question.
Does anyone know of any good action muds/online games?
I’ve tried a lot of them. They just seem to be midevil.
I know that there are such games as miriani and star conquest. But
those are scifi.
I’m looking for something that is a mud/online game that is action
oriented. Send me any ideas you have.
Thanks much,
Nick
