were two of the most visible holdouts as far as opening source or specs
for their hardware went, so I'm very much pleased to see them both doing
an apparent 180 on the whole open source issue. Good for them. =>

Just a day or two ago I got email from Andrew (not Apted) telling me the
drivers were open source now just in case I hadn't found out already (I
had) and apologizing for ke

talking to them at the end of August. They've taken their time about
actually doing it, but this whole "Free Software" thing seems to be a
concept their suits don't understand, so it's taking them awhile
I've had mail issues of late, anything I've sent the past week hasn't gone
anywhere. I'm sending it all out, but it's going out reverse
chronological order.
Was full glide source and register specs "big news" enough for everyone?

We weren't ready
d otherwise generally not terribly good thinking, but I
don't know enough GGI to be able to change it (or even whether or not it
CAN be changed!)
You play with just the keyboard? *chortle* You must not do multiplayer.

I think GII is useful even in places where GGI isn't, personally.

Mercury wants to put it into the -3dfx target which currently uses svgalib
for input and can

There is a GGI Glide target, but it's 2D. What's wanted is accellerated
hardware 3D.. Something that CAN render 3 scr
a is supposed to have kickass drivers. Eventually. The only stable
drivers you can get now are for 3.3.5 and older X servers and they're so
slow you'll wonder if you're actually getting accelleration at all.
nVidia has not earned a reputation for cooperation with the community
which disappear quickly.. Unfortunately I'm also no artist.

Overfiend - BTW,
. The reason for this is quite simple:
GGIMesa is unaccellerated. That means it's completely useless from a
practical OpenGL developer's viewpoint.
