return code and if it was not zero to re-tried the ftp. They set the proc
up to retry up to 3 times, with a wait step in between to delay 30 seconds

Already did. That's how I discovered the error. I'm using
CA-Encryption and the encrypted files are SUL but if the first file on a
stacked tape is SL then I have no way to report on that.

The encryption product we are using, (OEM), creates USER labels to
indicate encryption of the file. In order for me to report on those
datasets that are encrypted using the RMM CDS information I need the
actual LABEL type of each dataset. See my problem?

Disagree there. We have many disparate systems in this shop (and others that
I've been at) that there is no way... even with a true business need
that I would consider trying to move into a shared spool environment.
Technical reasons can out weigh business needs. Security is another
issue.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no reason to worry about your migration
from 1.4 to 1.9. I have performed that particular upgrade 3 times in just
