Susan Hottle commented that she had not realised that boot buttons were
glass. From my memory of some of my shoes in the 1930/40s they weren't all
glass!! I think there were several different types and it could have come

My advice is go for it - it is a challenge, but as we get older our brains

rather than hand and the only bit that really looks different to hand made
is the half stitch area between some petals!

I am aware that different dyes can affect thread and have noticed with wool
particularly, that black can make the fibres seem stiffer. Do you think
this could happen with the thread being used for the black leaves? And so
make them harder to get smooth.
