I am a little confused myself about the current state of diald: there
seems to have been a version change with quite a few changes, but the
documentation inconsistently refers to the older? version .16.5.
I assume Eric is still maintaining it, but I really don't know. I
joined this list again

I use ipfwadm, not ipchains, but AFAIK, diald does not know or care
about ipchain rules. You do that yourself. I call my firewall rules
